Great tour with Taile who shared so many insights into the food and Taiwanese culture! The tour was a great value as it included samples at several stops covering a variety of foods from the well known Xialong Bao to lesser known dishes like squid soup.
I was looking forward to this tour based on past experiences with food tours, but unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark. There was a noticeable lack of accommodation for dietary restrictions; the guide didn't check for food intolerances, and alternatives weren't really accommodated properly. I also felt the tour lacked an authentic touch, as the guide wasn't local and often had trouble answering questions about the regional cuisine.
I was a bit wary going in. I'm vegetarian and thought the experience might be limited. But to my surprise, I got to enjoy the night market fully without feeling I'd missed out. Sunny was incredibly accommodating and made sure I had all the options I needed. It was also my first day, I was jet-lagged and went to the wrong station, and she was still accommodating and helpful getting us together. She even saved the first tasting for me. The tour was great fun: lots of banter, lots of laughter, and all from the perspective of a local. She gives you all the tricks of a local and all the recommendations, including how Kuai Kuai, the lucky Taiwanese snack, works. A very nice touch: she took photos of us and actually printed them out as souvenirs. Highly recommend, and ask for Sunny if you can.
Go on an empty stomach! Great opportunity to try lots of varied street food and learn more about Taiwan. Thanks Liam for being a great guide.
We had the best time on this food tour with our super friendly, knowledgeable guide Taile. She guided us through the night markets telling us stories, answering our questions and introducing us to the most delicious local foods. I can’t recommend this tour, and Taile herself, more highly. We were completely full by the end of the night. The soup dumplings were a highlight. Best I’ve ever had.
This was SUCH a great experience. So many interesting flavors and so much we learned about Taiwanese culture. Cyndi was a spectacular guide. Full of information and very focused on each person’s interests.
Fanny was awesome, lots of interesting food!
My guide Liam was a pleasure to be around. So helpful and fun and he knew all the facts. The foods we tried were way crazier than I expected but you will come out of this tour with a great story. I encountered other solo travelers on this Friday night tour so that was a plus.
We had such a great time on our food tour! Our guide, Irina, was fantastic so friendly, informative, and knowledgeable. She introduced us to so many delicious local dishes and made the whole experience really memorable. My favorites were the soup dumplings and scallion omelette both were absolutely delicious! And if you get the chance, definitely try a snake shot for a unique Taiwanese experience! 🐍 Highly recommend this tour, especially if you want to experience Taipei through its food!
This tour was great! Sunny was a wonderful guide telling me all about the different foods I was trying and telling me stories about the night markets. Highly recommended
Night Market Foodie Tour not to miss! Sunny guided us through a tasty tour of Taipei's most delicious local food stands and restaurants Taipei Huax Tourist Night Market has to offer. Great historical information, culinary ingredients explained, all served with an energetic vibe creating a memorable experience. Highest recommendation on your vacation to-do list! Eric S.
Absolutely fantastic! Cornelia was our guide and she did a masterful job of taking our group through the night market, explaining the history of the area, the history of the foods, and choosing a great selection of different foods from different vendors. We tried a great selection of different things from cuttlefish stew, to braised pork rice, to stinky tofu (eww), to sweet potato ball’s with plum topping. Such a great experience.
We had an amazing time with Veronica trying so many delicious foods!!! Veronica shared about the history, and fun facts about the local culture. She answered all of our questions and shared about her experiences. We enjoyed trying many unique dishes and definitely left full!
Irina was an amazing guide! She went out of her way to make sure I could participate in almost every food experience even as a vegetarian. Everything she had us try was so delicious and I left the tour full and happy. Irina also explained a lot about every foods history and Taipei's history in general, so you gain knowledge not only about Taiwan's food but also its culture.
Irina our guide did a great job introducing us to delicious Taiwanese food. It was a great experience.
Great food tour as long as you don’t mind some unusual tastes and smells. That’s the essence of a Taipei night market. Liam is a great guide, mixing in some history and information.
Wonderful experience. The food was great and we saw things we never would have if not for the tour Highly recommend .
Great food, culture, and a little history tour. Irina was a great guide. She had a shadow in training who added some great insight during our walk through the night market. Loved that we got our photos from the tour the next day as an additional souvenir. Highly recommend!
Great food tour! Access to many foods in the night market. Highly recommend. Sunny was a great tour guide!
This was exactly what I was looking for. Mina, the tour guide, was great and very knowledgeable. She took us to some famous places and some unknown places. We ate our way through the market and were very satisfied!
Our guide, Mina, was very knowledge and hospitable! We had so many tastings in such variety that there was something for everyone to enjoy.
This is a fun way to familiarize yourself with popular Taiwanese foods. Everything was so good. Our tour guide, Roro, was so fun and knowledgeable.
Irina was an amazing host and showed us many food! I would go on this tour again. Big variety and never thought I would try stinky tofu or snake liquor.
From start to finish and excellent night. Sunny was a great guide..such a great learning experience. All the night stalls were an experience in themselves.
Great tour with Liam who shared a lot of information and insights about Taipei und Taiwan. The food and drinks were well-chosen and delicious.
Irina was a great tour guide, marshaling a very large group through a busy market! This tour provided *a lot* of food so definitely arrive hungry. I find that you experience so much more of the night markets with a tour guide than you do as a solo traveler, especially if you don't speak Mandarin!
Mina was a terrific guide! She provided a great tour of the night market and selected some excellent stops for our group. We were truly stuffed by the time we finished and had a very enjoyable evening. Highly recommend!
Great to discover street food from local night market a very pleasant friendly experience and some interesting food tasting with enough variety. The guide was great and friendly with plenty of interesting information
Liam was an excellent guide! He provided great local historical and cultural insight into the food and market area, and even into aspects of architecture, that enriched our understanding and perspective as we explore Taipei. Highly recommended activity for your first night in Taiwan! The food was excellent and I am glad we got to try many things we likely would have missed on our own.
Ale was an excellent guide who gave the history of each dish we tried. We left happy and full! The little utensil set was a nice touch.
Overall, this was one of the weaker food tours I’ve been on. Sunny was great, knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging. She did a good job keeping the group together and sharing context along the way. However, the tour itself felt poorly curated. The food selection leaned toward basic snacks, and the overall quality and variety wasn't great. I was expecting a more thoughtful introduction to Taipei’s food scene. I’d also caution anyone with dietary restrictions. I’m not vegetarian, but I do avoid certain meats, and there was very little flexibility or effort to provide alternatives. It didnt feel very inclusive. Overall, while the guide was a highlight, the tour itself fell short of expectations.
I enjoyed our energetic guide and her numerous insights. No one went away hungry!
What a great tour! I thought this was a fantastic way to try out some Taiwanese street food and learn more about Taiwanese culture. Our guide, Cyndi, was so much fun! I went on my own and ended up in a group of about 7 which was perfect. I would 100% recommend this tour and would love to come back with friends!
Alejandra was an amazing food tour guide. Her point of view of being a foreigner (from Colombia) who now lives in Taiwan offered very valuable insights in the life and culture of the Taiwanese people through the food scene in the night market. She took us to a variety of food places, one of which was a Michelin star restaurant, Wang's Broth. The food was delicious and the people in my tour group were engaging, which made it more fun. I highly recommend this food tour, especially my tour guide Alejandra.
I love this tour … the food were nice and I also made some friends I will recommend this tour to my other friends
Guide was friendly , very knowledgeable and excellent!
really fun tour, tried lots of different foods, good explanations given, lots of variety, good value for money
The Night Market and Convenience Store tour was fun, informative, and well organized. Our tour guide, Sunny Huang, contacted us beforehand via WhatsApp to confirm the meeting place and sent us a useful link to google maps so we could not miss. We first toured the Huaxi Street Night Market, which was just a short walk from the MRT Longshan Temple Station. Our first stop and an early highlight was the Oyster Omelette stand. Sunny took great care to explain the preparation of the different foods and their significance in local culture. She also gave her explanations a personal touch by telling us about her own experiences and memories associated with the food items. You could tell that she loved what she was doing and that she herself enjoyed each and every item we tasted. The braised pork rice, the scallion pancake and especially the peanut & ice cream wrap were our personal favorites. Afterwards Sunny even sent us photos she took during the tour. Sunny was an enthusiastic, entertaining and knowledgeable guide who made the tour truly memorable.
Leo was so exceptional and the food tour was perfect bites of things I’ve never would have tried if I went out by myself in Taipei. Loved the stories Leo would share and appreciated his ratings on snacks to bring home. I bought so much cilantro Doritos. Can’t wait to share with family! Definitely would recommend this tour!
Leo is an engaging tour guide. We tasted a wide range of dishes, ranging from yam balls to Doritos to stir-fry to bao to stinky tofu. We visited during the Lunar New Year week, so the market was busier and some stalls were closed; the guides pivoted to make the tour work. We stopped at one restaurant for several courses and some beer, which was a nice interlude. Try everything, and come hungry!
Cornelia, our guide was first class. Would have liked to have seen a few more classic Taiwan dishes on the tour like beef noodle soup or seafood but there was oyster omelette, soup dumpling, braised pork on rice, scallion pancakes and stinky tofu. Overall it was worthwhile but could have been so much more.
Good tour with lot's of walking. Able to try many food types that normally I wouldn't have known about. Good group and the tour operator was fun, knowledgeable, and engaging.
One of the best food tours I’ve ever been on. Had the best pork braised rice of my life. Super knowledgeable tour guide. Got to try so much stuff 10/10 recommend if you’re visiting Taipei.
Just back from a fabulous night market tour with Lina who took us through an amazing tour of the night market at Wanhua - stinky tofu included. Her knowledge, enthusiasm and delight in showing us what the area had to offer made for a really lovely tour - highly recommended
Cornelia was out foodie your guide on this night market tour. It was probably the best food tour I have been on. Cornelia made the night fun and we tried all of the famous Taiwanese foods. She introduced us to the mini mart culture in Taipei, which I wished I had known when I first visited Taiwan. Very interesting. Recommend this tour and guide to anyone visiting Taipei.
I’ve been on some food tours in other cities, and this was the worst one I’ve been to so far. Maybe the tour guide was having an off-day, but most of the food we tried were mainly fatty pork. - There was no Beef Noodle Soup (牛肉麵), no Pepper Buns (胡椒餅), no Taiwanese Fried Chicken (台灣鹽酥雞), no Gua Bao (割包), no Oyster Omelette(蚵仔煎), no Pan Fried Bao (生煎包), no Scallion Pancake (蔥油餅). There was no Boba or Shaved ice. - Our guide didn’t not eat the food. When there’s leftovers and the guide does not want to eat the food, what does it tell me about the food? It’s not good. - The group introductions were awkward. Maybe if there was an ice breaker question, it would have been better. - I felt like most of the food that was selected was based on what was available, not what is good. Overall, I think everything we tried was gross. We had steamed stinky tofu, and I had an upset stomach when I went back to the hotel. All the braised pork rice, pork knuckle, boar sausage together was very fat and heavy. Frozen microwave soup dumplings tastes better than the ones we tried. Boiled tea eggs from 7-Eleven is an acquired taste. I’ve had better wheelie cakes outside of Taiwan. I didn’t like Taiwanese food before, but I thought a food tour would showed me some food that I like. It confirmed that I don’t like Taiwan food. We definitely didn’t leave hungry, but I really want to get the taste out of my mouth.
10/10! I’ll definitely be re-visiting these places. Julie was very helpful and amazing. She also recommended more night markets to explore.
This tour was one of the coolest things we did in Taipei this December. We had a great group dynamic and our guide, Mina, was the star of the show. She was so knowledgeable and went out of her way to be helpful to everyone. It was fascinating to learn about the convenience store food culture alongside the night market classics. Don't hesitate to book this—and hope you get Mina as your host!
This tour was only two hours, but we tried quite a few dishes in that amount of time. Our guide was great too. This tour had us try some different foods I hadn't tried before... I won't say I like them all, but isn't that why you do a food tour like this to try new and different foods.
