Itinerary
Your Taichung day tour begins at Zhongshe Flower Market, where colorful flowers bloom throughout the year. Depending on the season, you may spot sunflowers, roses, lavender, and many other beautiful blooms. Stroll through the vibrant flower fields, take beautiful photos, and enjoy a refreshing escape surrounded by nature.
The National Taichung Theater is an architectural landmark designed by renowned Japanese architect Toyo Ito, recipient of the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize. During the tour, we’ll make a brief photo stop outside the entrance, where you can admire its distinctive, flowing architecture and capture some memorable photos.

Miyahara is a historic red-brick building originally established in 1927 by Japanese ophthalmologist Miyahara Takeo. During the Japanese colonial period, it became one of Taichung’s most prominent ophthalmology clinics. Today, the building has been beautifully preserved by Dawn Cake, a local pastry company known for its pineapple cakes, retaining its iconic red-brick walls and distinctive archways. We’ll also visit the Fourth Credit Union (Si-Sin), another historic building that has been transformed into a lively destination while preserving its architectural character. Once a financial institution, it now houses popular food and dessert spots, including a shop known for its delicious ice cream. It’s a great place to appreciate Taichung’s architectural heritage while enjoying a sweet treat.
Rainbow Village was created by Huang Yung-Fu, a former soldier who began painting the houses in his settlement in an effort to save them from demolition. Over time, his vibrant artwork featuring colorful birds, animals, people, and playful patterns spread across the remaining houses, transforming the settlement into a lively outdoor art space. Once part of a larger settlement that reportedly contained around 1,200 homes, Rainbow Village has since become a beloved cultural landmark in Taichung.
Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Gaomei Wetlands, a scenic coastal area renowned for its rich wetland ecosystem. Discover fascinating wildlife, including mudskippers, fiddler crabs, and a variety of bird species. As the day draws to a close, admire the stunning sunset over the wetlands and soak in the tranquil coastal scenery. Please note: If the wooden boardwalk is closed due to high tide or maintenance, you can still enjoy scenic views of the wetlands from the riverside embankment trail.

Reviews
This trip was quite average overall and, unfortunately, didn’t live up to my expectations. We booked the tour primarily because we wanted to visit the Zhongshen Flower Market, but the experience there was disappointing and didn’t feel particularly worthwhile. I would also recommend bringing your own lunch, as the meal provided was quite unsatisfactory. We then visited the National Theater. While we were aware beforehand that the stop would only be around 15 minutes, it felt as though the main purpose of the visit was simply to use the bathroom rather than to genuinely experience or learn about the attraction. Rainbow Village was also underwhelming. Aside from taking some colourful and “Instagrammable” photos, I didn’t find there was much of substance to the visit. The ice cream shop, however, was a definite highlight and was one of the more enjoyable stops of the day. If the main purpose of the itinerary was to fill time before watching the sunset at Gaomei Wetlands, I think the tour could have been structured much more efficiently. Starting so early and finishing around 8:30pm made for a very long day, particularly when travelling with my mother. It was difficult for her to have lunch at 12:30pm and then go without another proper meal until the tour finished. Overall, the selection of attractions didn’t seem to have a particularly logical flow, and at times it felt as though we were simply stopping at random locations to fill time. I would suggest reconsidering some of the attractions and focusing on fewer, more meaningful destinations. A shorter itinerary with more purposeful stops would make the experience feel much more enjoyable, considered and worthwhile for travellers.
Fantastic day! The arrival instructions were very clear, Peter was very knowledgeable and funny, and the itinerary was extremely smooth. Would definitely book again!
The guide, Eva, and the driver were excellent. The rainbow village was the highlight for me, along with the ice cream shop and the wetlands. I could’ve used a little more time at the rainbow village instead of the stop at the theatre, but that’s just a small suggestion.
We had a great time on this 1-day tour to see the highlights of Taichung. Our tour guide Tony was very professional.
We had a memorable experience in Taichung 🤍 It’s a must see in Taiwan and we will definitely be back to see the other cities
Time spent in each stop is enough to take photos and enjoy the place. Jacky Cheng and the driver were always smiling, courteous, and patient.
Great tour guide (Peter). Very thoughtful in making sure that we get the best deals for souvenirs and that we have a pleasant place for lunch. Interesting tourist spots in Taichung.
Great tour guide (Peter). Very thoughtful in making sure that we got the best deals for souvenirs. A few interesting spots to see in Tai Chung.
The tour was amazing! We were able to see the best views in Taichung. Our guide, Felix Chang, made the experience special with his great sense of humor and the historical background of the places we went to. He also ensured that we were comfortable and get the rest we need while traveling from one place to another. He is considerate and flexible as when one location needed more time as Miyahara had a long queue on the ice-cream shop, he extended a bit so our experience is complete. Highly recommend to have a whole day tour and the tour guide Felix Chang and the driver of our bus.
Being to Taiwan for many trips and will recommend to take some short trips to places that are far or not as easy to travel to.
Enjoyed the flowers in Taichung garden and the sunset in the wetlands. Ken, our guide , has limited English and sometimes it is hard to express himself. But he took care of us.
The tour was worth it and the directions going to the meeting place was easy to figure out. I recommend this tour if you want to go out of taipei even for a day.
Our guide, Peter, did a fantastic job. Not only was he engaging throughout the trip, he was knowledgeable about the place we visited, sharing the information which was easily understandable for everyone in the group. Truly, it was a great & memorable experience.
Before the tour, MyProGuide informed me that they would advise me closer to the date of the tour on who my tour guide will be; MyProGuide didn't do so. Additionally, I am the only customer whom bought a tour ticket through Viator (this tripadvisor website), whereas the rest of the customers bought theirs through Klook. I had much trouble trying to get on the bus as the customer list which the tour guide was holding on to only consisted of Klook customers. A lot of to-and-fro ensued. MyProGuide's administration is a failure. The tour guide has really poor English skills and spoke with a lacklustre tone. Before the disembarking at every attraction, the tour guide fail to inform passengers clearly whether passengers should go back to the exact spot the passengers disembarked from the tour bus, or, a location closer towards the entrance point of the attraction and then head back together. Being a solo traveller, I'm at a disadvantage because I don't have any other passengers to discuss on the contingency situations; I had to constantly guess on where the tour bus will be picking me up from. This led to me waiting at the entrance of attractions like a fool, culminating in me always reaching the tour bus last and fearing that the tour bus will leave without me.
Very organized tour and a great short, way to experience Taichung! However, the tour at Houli Flower Farm is too short and the tour at the ice cream place is too long.
I didn't mean to sign up for the English tour, but the English tour surprised me. But they also mixed in Chinese here and there, so I didn't have any trouble. Thank you for the guide.
For the first time, traveling by bus to several famous attractions is actually too convenient to save a lot of traffic time. The guide explained it was interesting. The floral variety of the flower market and the remote mountain views are very relaxing. Mayan Eye and Rainbow Village experience a different cultural atmosphere. The last high-quality wetlands are really worth visiting, and the sunset and vast sea views make the perfect phrase for the journey. In short, highly recommend this trip!
It was really fun, especially the tour guide and humor, not only detailed the tour, but also gave a lot of careful advice, the whole trip was very pleasant and a great day trip.
