Had a great tour with friendly tour guide and driver Paul who readily shared interesting knowledge about Yangmingshan and the surrounding areas. He also helped us take pretty photos throughout the tour and brought us to a delicious local restaurant. Would definitely recommend booking a tour with Paul again!

The centrepiece of Yangmingshan National Park close to the visitor centre and main bus station, Yangming Park is one of the first stops that visitors often make while exploring Yangmingshan.
Xiaoyoukeng is situated 800 meters above sea level. The feature sceneries include natural volcano air holes, hot springs, sulfur crystals, and landslide terrain. The unique natural scenery is the best place for natural science.
A mountain-top flatland park, Qingtiangang provides amazing views of Yangmingshan National Park. By definition a lava terrace, the area was formed as a result of volcanic activity in the mountains nearby. After the eruption of Mt. Zhugao, the lava flowed north towards the area, creating this unique landscape. During the Japanese occupation, the area was established as a ranch for cattle to graze. The park is still home to cows and other wildlife. This area of Yangmingshan is very easily shrouded in clouds due to its elevation.
Don't let the name fool you! Lengshuikeng literally means "Cold Water Pit," but the water here is a comfortable 40°C. It earned its nickname only because it is much cooler than nearby springs that exceed 90°C. It is a must-visit for its stunning Milk Lake, the Jingshan Suspension Bridge, and the popular free public foot soak.
Zhuzihu features seasonal flowers like calla lilies and hydrangeas only during fixed months. If your visit falls outside these periods, you may opt to visit a restaurant or cafe on Yangmingshan for a break (optional)
Back to hotels or other spots you preferred in Taipei City at the end of the tour.

Great time at Yangmingshan with guide Cody. Enjoyed the easy trail through the forest, which was very peaceful. Highlight was seeing about 20 cows and a few calves in the grasslands. Highly recommend the tour with the kind and very accommodating guide Cody.
We had a great time on the tour with our tour guide Jennifer Yang! It was beautiful to get out of the city and see the mountains and the volcano. Jennifer was very knowledgeable and provided us with water, umbrella and rain ponchos although we didn’t need them. I would recommend the tour.
BEWARE, this guide could change your plans last minute on tour day. We carefully planned for weeks and agreed in advance on Yehliu Geopark, Xian Dong Yan Temple/cave and the Keelung fish/shrimp market since they were all in the same area for our private tour day with Nicolas. Instead of Xian Dong Yan temple/cave, Nicolas changed the itinerary last minute on day of the tour. He took us to Zhaoling Temple, which we specifically had no interest in seeing, also an expensive $100 lunch for 2 (only the guide and I ate), pressured us to order more food at the restaurant that felt commission driven. Last stop, instead of taking us to Xian Dong Yan Cave Temple like we planned (20 minutes away from the restaurant), he drove 45 minutes to Jiufen, the tea house where he insisted we ordered tea on a scorching hot day that was planned for another day (it also seemed commission driven). We felt exploited by a guide who was only interested in collecting commissions on top of charging $340 per day. We ended up canceling the second tour entirely but still paid him in full ($680 plus tip for 2 days). Unfortunately, the experience left such a bitter, disgusting impression that we shortened our Taipei stay and flew back to Japan early. In contrast, our guides in Japan consistently honored the agreed itinerary exactly, often exceeded expectations by comparison. This experience with Nicolas felt deeply dishonest and predatory from start to finish.
Great tour, Sean was very friendly and gave us a lot of interesting information as he took us around the park.
Great tour in the mountains so close to Taipei. The scenery was beautiful, especially the blooming cherry trees but the highlight was visiting the volcano, a site I will always remember. The guide was a great source of information and a very safe driver on very challenging roads. I highly recommend this tour.
Perfect Organisation! Nicolas inform you about a lots of Taiwan and the surrounding! He is very friendly and professionell.
Amazing tour experience to Yangmingshan Volcano with our guide Nicholas Ying. We were treated to a half day of beautiful sightseeing and had plenty of time with nature. Be prepared to walk!
I was lucky to be assigned Nicholas Ying as my guide and driver. I had a 5 hour tour with Nicholas to Yangmingshan National Park where we visited Yangming Flower Clock park, Xiaoyoukeng Recreation area, Qingtiangang Grassland Trails and Jingshan Suspension Bridge. Although it was foggy but Nicholas had checked the weather conditions before arriving to decide which area to visit first so I had an enjoyable time. Nicholas also went pass Yangmingshan American Military Housing area to show me the area and a hidden spot with a beautiful view of Taipei city. For lunch Nicolas recommended me a very nice local Taiwanese Traditional Vermicelli restaurant which was delicious. I highly recommend Nicholas as he was always considerate, punctual, very informative, took initiative, flexible if there were any interesting things along the tour and very sincere. He was also a foodie which was another bonus as I was always interested was very local food. Nicholas was also a very careful driver which was a bonus. He made sure I was comfortable in the car especially since we did travel a lot in very wet and rainy conditions. I was lucky to have Nicolas for 3 separate day tours in Taipei and I highly recommend Nicholas for anyone traveling to Taiwan.
I'll admit, I didn't have high expectations for this tour- a simple volcano tour, but I was pleasantly surprised! My son and I had a great time. The hikes weren't challenging at all, really just a pleasant stroll through some beautiful grasslands, and through hot springs! The scenery and conversation with our guide Paul were great. I've been on tours where the guide was a little too polished and well rehearsed like a professor, and guides that felt like they were a friend showing you around. Paul was a friend showing us around. In fact when he learned my son and I desperately wanted to try beef noodle soup, he offered to take us to his favorite spot back in Taipei, communicate with the waitstaff for us, and allowed us to arrange an Uber back to our hotel. We emphatically agreed! We highly recommend
We had a great time on this trip. Jimmy our guide was fantastic and credit to his company. Looked after us so well and even brought us some breakfast to start the day with. Jimmy even took some photos of us which he sent us which was a lovely touch. Would highly recommend this trip. Also do the early start to beat the crowds.
Amazing place - totally flexible tour with the activities being chosen based on what we wanted. Aaron was great.
Nicolas Ying was our tour guide, and he was fun and awesome! We learned so much about the history of the area from him, and he took us to several beautiful locations on Yangminshan mountain that we would probably have totally missed out on our own. We also really appreciate that he helped us take so many pictures to remember our experiences. I plan on booking with yolo Taiwan again in the future and hope Nicolas is our guide then too!!!
Lief was a great guide. He was very patient with my 8-year-old son and allowed us to explore things at our own pace. I highly recommend him!
Despite getting unlucky with the rainy weather our amazing guide Nicolas Ying made sure we had a great time and customized our itinerary to your liking. In addition to the sightseeing we enjoyed Nicolas knowledge of culture and history.
The tour is good but by no means great. The sulphur emissions are interesting but you can't see far due to fog that seems almost always present. The other things in the area were so ordinary that they shouldn't even be part of the trip. They showed us grasslands with a few water buffalos grazing. If you are from Asia, water buffalos are the most ordinary things. They also showed a small pond where the water is white due to minerals, calling it the milk pond. Hardly interesting. They also showed a little shallow rainwater pond which they called a lake! It is definitely not anything like a lake. However, the flower clock area is very interesting and worth spending time.
Great tour and Nicolas provided exceptional door to door experience, showing us the beauty of a region just outside of Taipei.
Fantastic! Very professional! Friendly! Great with children. Smooth driver and very knowledgeable and an excellent historian.
The tour was exactly as described, the driver picked us up from our hotel at the appointed time, drove us around the park and took us to a lunch spot at the end before returning us to our hotel. The weather was abysmal. I wish the driver had recommended alterations to the tour to make it more enjoyable during bad weather.
It was very windy and raining but still had a very fun time! Jackie was an amazing guide, very nice and took so many great photos for us!! Tour group was very accommodating with pick up and drop off requests.
Terry (Yi-huah Chiang) was very good. Kept us entertained, even though it was raining most of the tour time. Hopefully, we can come back on a good weather.
The tour guide was very nice and her car was new and very well maintained and the places we went where so good. My wife and I give it 5 stars Check out my YouTube channel @scrapcrow4930 for videos
Perfect day at Yangmingshan and other landmarks around Taipei. Our tour guide Henry gave us great history lessons and food recommendations. Strongly recommend.
The trip was convenient. However, both the driver and us waited for each other being available to meet each other. Need better communication
Tour guide Steven was very knowledgeable and helpful. I enjoyed the tour and highly recommend for those with limited time in Taipei. Tour was efficient and comfortable. Thank you!
I had the most amazing whole day layover hiking Mt. Qixing! My tour guide Steven was on time to pick me up (actually I was late because I got lost in the Taipei Main Station😅) and super knowledgeable about everything and anything we talked about. He took me to this local chicken restaurant after the hike and it was very delicious! I have t been back to Taiwan for a while and having a local guide really helped me navigating through the city. He was very dedicated and def made my day extra special & enjoyable. Thank you so much, Steven!
Jimmy was our tour guide for this amazing experience. It started when he contacted me a few days before the tour to introduce himself. Also after I booked the reservation, I was given accurate information regarding our vehicle of choice, which was luxury. Jimmy contacted us shortly before the tour to inform us he was waiting in our hotel lobby. After brief introductions, my husband and I were on our way to an amazing day. First, he explained everything he had planned for us on the “Volcano Tour”, and he made sure we were okay with everything. Then we were off! Along the way to Yangminshan Park, we had the pleasure of learning a wealth of information from Jimmy about the history of Taiwan. He also pointed out various locations of interest along the way. The volcano tour included several natural places of interest (including the flower clock and Qingtiangang Grassland). At each stop he offered to take pictures with our camera and his (he shared these at the end). More importantly, he spoke of the history of the place as we walked together for a few moments, then he left us to explore at our own pace. Jimmy was always considerate and respectful towards us the entire time. He drove through a farming village in the mountains, and took us to an “open air” shop along the narrow road. The kind lady there knew Jimmy, and she let us try samples of some of her goods… tea, nuts, rice, etc. Jimmy bought several items from her, and we had a bag of peanut brittle to take back to our hotel. One final stop we had was to see the changing of the guards in the city on the way back to our hotel. Our tour was well planned, very informative, and quite exciting! We particularly appreciated being in nature and interacting with the local residents. You should put this tour on your “to do” list.
We had a amazing time. Our tour guide Chiao Chiao was awesome!. I highly recommend her for your tour guide whenever your in Taiwan!
We loved our tour of Yanmingshan with James. We chose a very early pick up time and did not regret it as we had so many of the locations to ourselves for the bulk of our tour. James was very patient with us wanting to walk slowly and told us a great deal of the cultural history of Taiwan in between the stops we had. When we got to the sulfur crater, we had it mostly to ourselves! Due to the recent earthquake, we were unable to see the Suspension Bridge, but James substituted a milk pond and a quick detour to see the water buffalo grazing before taking us down to Yehliu Geopark to end our day checking out the lava trails and volcanic rock formations.
I highly recommend Jimmy as a guide for the "Private Yangmingshan Volcano" tour in Taiwan. His extensive knowledge of the area and its history made the tour incredibly informative and engaging. Jimmy’s patience and attention to detail ensured that everyone felt comfortable and well taken care of. He is also an experienced and careful driver, which made the journey smooth and safe. Additionally, Jimmy's generosity and friendly demeanor added a personal touch to the tour, making it even more enjoyable. I wholeheartedly recommend his services to anyone looking for an exceptional travel experience.
Vincent was such an accommodating and patient guide - we expressed interest in a hike and we took us on a very strenuous hike to the highest peak of Yangmingshan followed by visits to other main beautiful places within the park.
Seeing the volcano tour which was amazing. And the tour to see the buffaloes and the Keelung Harbor.
We had to arrange pickup from residential area in New Taipei City and this was easily arranged, with additional fee of NTD 600, which was not an issue for us since we stayed quite far from Taipei city. Our tour guide, Vincent Chen, was prompt, courteous and very knowledgeable. The car was very clean, and we each were given a bottle of mineral water. He also knows the nice spots to take pictures. Overall, very nice experience. Excellent service.
Our drive / guide Nicolas was very helpful and friendly. The hikes were easy, and we had a great experience. Highly recommend!
The escaping gases from the volcano were spectacular! Nicolas Ying was a great guide and knew so much information.
Nicolas Ying was so impressive. As we headed to the park he gave a interesting history notepad presentation about Taiwan. His driving was effortless and safe. One of persons could not do stairs well and he accommodated this in all our sights to see. The person did not feel left out of the experience at all!
Our driver / guide Nicolas was very helpful and friendly. We had a great tour - it was an easy hike. Highly recommend!
For our final day in Taipei, we opted for a half-day private tour of Yangmingshan, expertly guided by Mr. Hicks Wang. Pre-tour communication was superb. Hicks promptly picked us up at our hotel in a super clean, comfortable vehicle. Although the day started off rainy, he adjusted the tour sites so that each could be seen in better light as the weather improved. We covered a lot of ground within Yangmingshan, saw some spectacular sights, and ate at a local restaurant with some of the best free-range chicken and wild vegetables that I’ve ever had. Hicks was super apologetic about the weather (of which he had no control, of course) and insisted on taking us to see some additional sights that were not on the itinerary as the skies cleared. Overall, what a wonderful way to spend our last moments in Taiwan! I would wholehearted recommend Hicks Wang as your guide!
Henry was fantastic! The weather didn’t cooperate with us but Henry came up with an alternate itinerary. We did go to Yangmingshan and saw the cherry blossoms and flower clock. We then went to Beitou and dipped our feet in the hot springs. We went to a Buddhist temple and then went to longshan temple. Henry provided us with so much Taiwan history and introduced us to Buddhist/taoist customs. We had a lovely lunch at a local restaurant that has been in existence for over 100 years. We expressed interest in tea and he took us to a friend whose family is in the tea business and we sampled some teas. We had a wonderful day and highly recommend Henry and his tour company!
Jimmy was a wealth of knowledge about everything. We got in a tremendous amount of things with him leading the way. We did a lot of hiking, sight seeing and I enjoyed the day very much. He was a very excellent driver and really customized the tour to what I wanted to do.
The tour was very well organised with many points of interest. It was ideal to get out and see the country so close to the city. The tour guide, Steven, was extremely professional, knowledgeable, accommodating and friendly. He made a great tour even better. He would be one of the best tour guides we have ever encountered.
We enjoyed our tour with Steven very much. It was great to get out into the countryside and fresh air. Lots of great walks to see the sights. The last place there were some stairs but as it was a private tour we could go at our own speed.👍
We spent the day in Yangminshan with Hicks, our driver. Wonderful trip. Enjoyed the scenery and landscape.
Nice relaxing day. Steven did a great job explaining the details at each of our stops. Really enjoyed the volcanic interpretive center.
The guide picked us up at our hotel in his car and he drove us up into the mountains overlooking Taipei. Along the way he showed us some landmarks in Taipei. He recommended a great restaurant in the mountains. James was the guide’s name and he was excellent company.
We had a great time and enjoyed the beautiful scenery! The water buffalo and the sulfur volcano were our favorites
Thank you Paul for being our guide and driver on Thursday the 11th of January. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and highly recommend this tour to others. The weather was perfect and we were very excited to see some wild buffalo’s. Paul was not only our guide and driver, but also took the time to take photos of us and personalised our tour to suit our interests. This included stopping for lunch and bubble tea!
My family and I had a wonderful time at the Qingtiangang Circular Trail watching the buffaloes in actions as well as looking at the sleeping volcano at Xiaoyoukeng Recreation Area. The scenic views were spectacular. Our tour guide, Nicolas had managed to help us with the navigation and he had provided us with useful information about the venues. Very vocal and friendly guide. However, the challenging hike trail up the Yangmingshan mountain to look at the Menghuan Pond had caught us by surprise. The steps were very rocky & steep and I had difficulty descending. To my pleasant surprise, a kind Taiwanese lady had offered assistance by lending me the hiking stick. It was a frightening experience. Not advisable for someone like me to take this trail. Thought that it was a simple trail which was supposed to be manageable. Due to time constraints, we got to pay extra so as to cover the tour at Qingtiangang Circular Trail. Nevertheless, we were glad to be able to immerse in nature.
Had a great hike. Sean contacted me to suggest an earlier time to avoid the fog on the volcano. It's not an easy hike but worth it. Our guide took us to an authentic place for beef noodle soup as well and a hot spring bath too. FYI the hike down is harder than the hike up
Mr. Wong was a very good tour guide. We were able to go at a pace that worked well for me. I was able to take the photos that I wanted. He was very knowledgable and I learned a lot of the history of Taiwan. He was also flexible with our plans because of the weather!
