Berry was very kind and professional. He even made a side trip which was not on the itinerary but still within the allotted time. He is very enthusiastic about Taiwan and as a result he often spoke too fast. That, combined with an accent often caused us to miss his message. If he slowed his tempo and enunciated more clearly he would be even more effective.

She was incredibly patient and understanding with our 8-year-old, who kept complaining about the heat and the short hikes, yet she still found kind and encouraging ways to motivate him to keep going. We had a wonderful day with Jennifer Yang, our local guide and driver. She made our tour in Jiufen and Shifen educational and at the same time fun with her knowledge of places we went. She also made us safe with her excellent driving skills. She gave us options to choose which way we should go since we don’t have the energy to go up and down all the stairs in Jiufen and Shifen, but still have the opportunity to enjoy the scenery and arrive at the points of interests. We had fun writing our wishes and flying our own lantern in Shifen. Taiwan is such a beautiful country and we have to come back to see the countryside. I highly recommend to take this tour and if possible request Jennifer Yang as your guide.

The tour guide was excellent and my family and I learnt a lot of new things and tried a lot of exciting things. The price was also fairly cheap for the whole day. Since we went earlier into the day there wasnt a lot of crowd and it was quite peaceful. It did rain very lightly so bring umbrellas！The thing I liked the best was trying the tea and dried strawberry samples.
It was amazing day in Jiufen and Shifen with Jennifer. We saw a lot of great view points and key places in both locations. Jennifer was well organized and thought about everything, including wheater conditions. Tour was private so we stayed in each place how much time we wanted. We recommend this tour, its close to Taipei and really beautiful sighteseeing spots.

The day trip from Taipei to Pingxi district and Jiufen old town is highly recommended to experience life in 2 picturesque small towns and enjoy the natural landscape in northern Taiwan, including 2 beautiful waterfalls. My driver and tour guide Paul was very friendly and he explained to me the history of this region, which used to be very prosperous because of the local gold mines. We started at the Shifen Waterfall and Shifen village in Pingxi district. Shifen is famous because visitors send a sky lantern and make a wish. Then we visited the Golden Waterfall and the charming old village of Jiufen, where I ate the most delicious dumplings in my life, thanks o Paul’s recommendation. Before returning to Taipei we visited the spectacular Jiufen Qingyun Temple. I had a wonderful day full of exciting memories, including the most delicious dumplings.

Highly recommend. Jennifer was our guide and took my wife and me on the day tour. She was punctual, very earnest, helpful and kind. Very good English. The car was very clean and nice. She absolutely took care of everything along the way and made it a relaxing enjoyable experience. We have taken many Viator tours in various locations and this was probably the best of them.
Communication was excellent leading up to our tour and Oscar was a fantastic tour guide and driver. We were able to see everything we wanted and more - his suggestion for the order of stops was perfect as it meant we missed the most busy times in each location. When we were hungry he also provided with yummy recommendations. Oscar is very knowledgeable and kind - we learned a lot about Taiwan and also appreciated the extra care he took with setting a pace that worked well for my 75 yr old mom. It was a perfect day. Days before we left for a week in Taipei we decided to book an 8hr day trip (through Trip Advisor / Viator) to Jiufen & Pingxi. We had booked Tuesday & Thursday to give us flexibility, and sales/customer service was great in providing info and helping us cancel the latter once we settled on Tuesday. Now, I could wax poetic about how lucky we got with amazing weather & how visually and culturally appealing the journey and destinations were - but what absolutely made this 5*+ was our tour guide Chia Jung. My boyfriend and I ended up being the only 2 in the group which ended up making it that much more memorable of a trip - as we were basically in conversation with Chia for 8 straight hours. Very knowledgeable, intelligent, kind, and funny - he was the absolute perfect host for our first time in the country. Always eager to point out relevant information about the locations but thoughtful about letting us experience them at our own pace. His suggestions for food, activities, and logistics were excellent - delicious, fun, and stress free. He was an excellent and safe driver, which was comforting throughout the winding mountain roads and heavy city traffic on our return. What we enjoyed the most though, were our conversations with him and his deep knowledge of local and regional culture & history. We learned a lot about Taiwan and its people - and what went in to making it the special place that it is. He was like a teacher whose class you look forward to - informative, relatable, and fun. It would have been a fun day regardless, but Chia made it extra special and memorable for us - and when we go back to Taipei, we hope to spend time with him exploring new areas. He was the shining star of our great trip to Taiwan. The Taiwanese people, as we learned all week - are amazing - and I’m sure there are many great guides - so if you’re on the fence about booking a trip - do it! do xia Chia!

The driver was on time and was able to make a few changes in where we wanted to go as we had already been to a few of the locations he had listed. Made this one of the best days we had on the island
Our driver and guide, Chia Jung was very entertaining and knowledgeable about the places we visited. Had his phone to hand to catch good family photos and his vehicle was very comfortable and a cool refuge from the heat of the sun. Highly recommend this service for a private tour.
The tour company was super easy to do business with. I originally scheduled a Sunday tour, but had to adjust to Friday given scheduling changes on my end before leaving for Taiwan. They were able to accommodate and additionally willing/able to add a requested stop for us. On the day of the tour, James was our guide. Showed up at our hotel right on time. James also confirmed via WhatsApp the day before. James was a great guide. He had a ton of fun facts to share with us. We enjoyed our conversations with James throughout the day. We learned a lot about the culture and the locations we visited in our day together. We had a lot of ground to cover and James made sure we used our time wisely. That said, we never felt cheated on time spent at any location. His knowledge and recommendations throughout the day were excellent. We had a few food places we wanted to try based on research done prior to the trip. James knew where to find them all. We'll be sure to find James if we return to Taipei!

In June 2024, the two of us took the Discover Taiwanese Charms: Jiufen and Shifen Private Day Tour with a tour guide named Mr James Chen. He guided us along the way by providing detailed explanations and history of the places in Jiufen and Shifen. He also took us to a local restaurant so we could taste authentic local food. Considering our limited time, we asked if he could also take us to the 101 tower building and he was happy to take us. He works professionally, kindly and attentively. We recommend that if you go to Taipe, Mr James Chen is the right person to take you on your trip.
We have great time with Berry Chai even though it’s was raining he was ready he got everything from rain coats n umbrella…..he never stop telling us about history all the places that we stop and for lunch bring us to this unique seafood restaurant and stinky Tofu….Berry is high recommended very friendly and he knows about his the history of Taiwan….thank you for everything Berry and hope to see you again.
We had an incredible day seeing the hidden parts of Taipei/Taiwan with our guide Thomas Han. He is so full of energy and so knowledgeable-he explained things to us and got us to important landmarks that you really could not get to on your own with public transportation. Most importantly he explained everything to us and gave us the background to all of the places we visited. We drive with him for 8 hours up into the mountains where these sites were located and he was a very careful and safe driver. Thomas made our day by taking us to hidden spots we knew nothing about!! I highly recommend requesting his services when you book this tour!!
My wife and I spent an amazing day with our tour guide James. We visited all of the waterfalls and parks as well as released a lantern and had a wonderful lunch in Shifen. We ended the day in Jiufen. I cant say enough great things about this day. Next time we will go again and spend a half day just in Jiufen as there is so much to see.
