Wonderful waterfalls, cool mountain city, beach screen, good food and had a blast letting the lantern fly away with all my wishes on it. Was so much fun. Lots of stairs but the pleasure was worth the pain. Joseph was great with his history and knowledge. A long but fantastic day.
Jennifer was amazing!! Very knowledgeable about the area, brought us to all the local/authentic spots, and showed us the best views. 10/10 would recommend
We had Jennifer Yang as our guide! One of the best guides we have ever had.
Jenifer was seriously so so amazing she was so knowledgeable and her English was Incredible !! So glad we got to do this tour with her ! She went out of her way for us !
We had a wonderful day tour to Shifen and Jiufen with Jennifer. Jennifer was extremely friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout the entire trip. She shared detailed explanations about the history, culture, and local stories behind each destination, which made the journey much more meaningful and enjoyable. What impressed us the most was her patience and care for our family. I was traveling with two senior family members aged 92 and 64, and Jennifer was very considerate of their pace and comfort. She adjusted the itinerary flexibly, ensured they were comfortable at every stop, and provided helpful recommendations along the way. She also recommended local food, scenic photo spots, and hidden gems that we would not have discovered on our own. Her English was excellent, communication was smooth, and she made us feel welcome from the moment she picked us up. Thanks to Jennifer, our visit to Shifen and Jiufen became one of the highlights of our Taiwan trip. Highly recommended for families, especially those traveling with seniors. We would definitely choose Jennifer again on our next visit to Taiwan. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5
Great experience right from booking. Very responsive, meticulous in planning and accommodating of our requests. We had a friendly English speaking guide Jennifer who took very good care of our family and ensured we all had a great and comfortable experience. Great explanations, helpful in recommendations and always keeping an eye out for our young child. Highly recommended!
High into the hills of Taiwan. Whilst a bit of walking we didn't find it too onerous and we are in our late 70's. Our wonderful guide Howard devised a route which was faily flat as there are lots of uneven paths and many stairs Went to jifen Water fall which was lovely and had a sky lantern experience in the middle of a train track just before the train came. Great fun
Bad tour Tour guide Andy came in a vehicle with all the windows covered in black screen net so we couldn’t see out of the windows. The purpose of a tour is to SEE, and we couldn’t see a thing! Crazy, to compound that he didn’t talk at all while driving didn’t give any details about the city or our surroundings as we were passing through nothing, there were times we didn’t even know where we were going. He didn’t even introduce himself when he met us just pointed to his car. I texted the tour company and asked if this is a tour or a taxi cab ride. Told them no narrative or tour info about are drive and what we’re passing by was being given and the windows were covered so we couldn’t even see anything. They responded because of the weather he couldn’t talk while driving (it was a light drizzle). No response to window coverings. When we got to the spots on the itinerary he did talk a little which is when we discovered he could barely English. So asking questions about the area and such were next to impossible. It was a terrible private tour, we would have gotten more out of just going with the cruise tour at least we could see out the window and the tour guide talked. This was not a tour, it was a taxi cab ride. Had we known that we could have booked our own taxicab for much cheaper. Then at the end, Andy the driver had the nerve to ask us to give him 5 stars! It was laughable and very disappointing- coming to Asia is a once in a lifetime experience for us, what a let down. We saw all the high ratings for this tour and thought we were getting the best it was the complete opposite. Do not use this company.
I had a wonderful time on this tour with An. She is very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. We visited two beautiful waterfalls and two Old Streets. We also stopped by the Yin Yang sea which had some interesting old abandoned mining buildings across the street. It was fun walking through the old streets of Shifen and Jiufen where I got to try lots of local foods and snacks. I highly recommend this tour and An as your guide if possible.
We got to our meeting point well on time, but our guide wasn’t there. We WA’d him, no reply. We contacted the office, who said he was in the meeting hall; he wasn’t. Then they said he was waiting outside; he wasn’t. More than half an hour later he came running into the hall. A bad start to the tour. We got whisked off along the coast to our first stop. It became obvious that Lyle couldn’t speak much English, so we sat in silence, with no commentary or info about our destinations. After the 1st stop, when we’re tried to leave for the next destination, our car wouldn’t start. There we sat for 25mins while Lyle cursed and swore trying to get us moving. Eventually the car started. We proceeded to the other destinations which all went as planned. Lyle was a friendly bloke and did his best for us, given the communication gap. But this trip was sold as a guided tour, that’s what we paid for and what we got was a silent taxi ride.
Alex was our tour guide and he was a great guide. What a nice relaxing way to tour Taiwan without any pressure. Highly recommend.
A wonderful day. We loved it and would recommend it 100 percent. Our guide was so nice an friendly. The group was very small. A real privat tour.
It was a wet and dreary day, not ideal for seeing the best anywhere. Despite this Paul worked very hard to show us interesting places and make the most of our day in Taiwan with some genuine highlights. He was knowledgeable and considerate and was an excellent driver on some difficult roads. He took good care of us, got us back to the ship bang on time then sent us some lovely photos! Thank you Paul 😊
We just finished our tour with Stanley Wu (Ah Hua), and he was awesome. He gave us a lot of interesting backgrounds of the places we visited. He took many pictures for us and even helped carry our baby stroller. We highly recommend having a tour with Stanley!
We had Joseph for our tour. Great tour!!! It fit everything and it was a timely mattered. I would definitely pick this tour again if I had to. He also answered all of our question.
Our tour guide Joseph was great and very knowledgeable! We got to learn a lot of history during our tour which was from 9 am - 5pm.
Iris was our driver and picked us up promptly at our cruise terminal. Although her english was spotty, we did have a personal translator device to assist us. Her driving was awesome. Best driver so far. She was very cautious and we felt safe the entire time. Would definetly use again!
Eddy was a great guide. He communicated with us a day before the tour to let us know where to meet. We went to two Falls, wrote hopes and wishes on a lantern and light them up to fly to the sky. Drove around by the coastline and tried all the delicious snacks in the market.
Our day with Young was excellent. He communicated in advance and we met him easily at the cruise terminal. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t great but he guided us expertly to some wonderful places. We loved sending our lantern into the sky, seeing the gorgeous waterfall and exploring the touristy town of Juifen., among other stops. The tour has a nice mix of places to see outside of the busy city of Taipei. Young was very informative about Taiwan culture, food and history. He took the time to answer our questions honestly and openly. He is an excellent guide and we would highly recommend asking for him if booking this tour.
Jennifer is amazing guide. Really fun day to take from cruise ship . Much better then the crowd tours from the ship. Can be also customized which is great
Very good guide, her English was very good and she was very helpful. She took us to all sites around Taipei, although the weather was dreadful we had a very enjoyable time. We would recommend Jennifer as she was excellent.
Our tour guide was great thank you Stanley for everything.we went to all the amazing places in Taiwan.
Oscar is a first class tour guide with a vast array of knowledge ranging from history, geography to world affairs. He was a joy to spend the day discovering Taiwan.
Jennifer was great. Cheerful, on time, patient. Even helped us with great recommendations and lots of insight and took great photos for us. The pace was a bit rushed since we had so much to get through but she was so patient and kind. Thank you Jennifer !!
Berry was so good he took us everywhere we wanted to go and to places we didn’t know about. We would recommend his services to anyone who asks
Definitely would recommend the Jiufen & Shifen Sky Lantern tour with Jennifer. She picked up our family from the Keelung port. Jennifer was well prepared - snacks, water, umbrellas & rain coats for us. Though it rained all day, Jennifer made it memorable. She speaks excellent English & is a great conversationalist. We will forever have fond memories of our trip. Love that she took photos & sent us a drawing of one of our pic!
Chia took us to a lot of very interesting places and told us about Taiwans history. It was a highlight of our holiday.
When we read that the tour was private we thought it probably meant a small bus. We were delighted to learn that Jennifer was our private tourguide and driver for my daughter and me. She did a great job of showing us everything, putting it in perspective, and maneuvering so I could eliminate some of the walking ( I am 91). We saw so much, had lumch in Old Street Juifen, saw the Golden Water Falls and sent up our wishes in the lantern and saw many other beautiful places. Jennifer was ready for our every need, including umbrellas when it started to rain, and taking pictures of all our adventures. I would recommend this tour and Jennifer to anyone who wants a great experience.
Jennifer was waiting when we arrived in the terminal with a wonderful smile. Her car was very comfortable and she asked us questions as we drove and customized the upcoming itinerary for our pleasure. Jennifer has a strong family history in Taiwan, her father came over with Chiang Kai-shek so she was able to share a rich perspective of the country and it's history. We did everything in the itinerary and more, "just down this street is another temple (or something else), would you like to see it?" was very common. She took care to explain the interesting melding and acceptance of different cultures and religions, often in the same temple. Her food recommendations were perfect. She provided water and a very thoughtful gift. She graciously accommodated my wife's physical limitations. I HIGHLY recommend Jennifer for a wonderful experience in Taiwan.

We had a beautiful tour with a wonderful and very thoughtful guide. Our ship arrived 3 hours late, but Jennifer was there to greet us when we finally got off the ship. She took great care of my mom and I from start to finish. She helped us exchange money at the port. She helped my mom maneuver the old uneven streets at the slower pace she needed. She explained everything beautifully and helped us try new things. When it started pouring rain, she had umbrellas for us. She took many pictures of us everywhere we went for our keepsake memories. We enjoyed all of the sights and new experiences, such as sending our wishes in the air via a lantern. And Jennifer was the perfect person to guide us through everything.
Tony was an amazing guide. Definitely one of our best tours. And his photography — a bonus! He expertly guided us through Juifen - picked out a delicious dumpling restaurant. Then onto the sky lantern experience which was an unexpected highlight. The waterfall was absolutely beautiful. We had a perfect day with Tony! Highly recommend.
This is a great way to explore outside of Taipei without worrying about the logistics. Jennifer was a great tour guide and gave us history of the area and some great food and drink recommendations.
It was a spectacular time. Jennifer was a kind and caring guide who has great knowldge of all the different sites. She was just amazing !
This was an amazing tour! Our tour guide, Jennifer, was amazing and so sweet. She took the time to take us to unique places and explain things along the way such as the history, the various temples we saw and all the different foods. She translated for us and took an abundance of pictures for us which she sent to us for our keeping. I would highly recommend this tour. Definitely take the time to stop and have the tea experience at the Amie Teahouse. The releasing of the Lanterns is something we will never forget! Such a wonderful day!! And, if you can choose Jennifer, please do, you will not regret it! Best tour guide ever!!
The itinerary was absolutely perfectly paced and the activities were tailored made to my preferences. Jennifer was such a gem and she ensured my comfort and happiness throughout the journey from start to finish. She made sure to offer to take photos every step and every commend I made about what I wanted to see and eat was taken into account! 8 hours flew by with her and I cannot recommend her enough!
From the get go, our guide Jennifer was amazing. Leading up to our day tour, she was super communicative. On the day, she was informative and kind, and made our tailored tour perfect. We honestly couldn’t be happier. She made Taiwan beautiful. We highly recommend Justaiwantour to anyone visiting, you won’t regret it!
Paul our Tour Guide and Driver was exceptional. He is such a pleasant and thoughtful person. He goes beyond what is normally expected. There was no rush and we saw what we wanted to see in plenty of time before our return to the cruise ship. Paul we wish you Success, Health and Happiness for you and the family Kevin, Sydney Australia
What a wonderful day touring Juifen and Shifen with our guide Jennifer. We started from our ship Oceania which was in Keelung port. The day started out rainy but Jennifer thought of every detail. She brought us raincoats and umbrellas as well as snacks and water. By the time we got to our first stop at the golden waterfall the rain stopped. The scenery of the waterfall and sea below with yellow color was breathtaking. Jennifer was knowledgeable about gold mining in the area and the history of the area. Next stop was Jiufen which is a really beautiful old mining town nestled on the mountain side with views of the sea. We had tea and then a wonderful lunch of beef noodles and pork with rice. Jennifer explained that beef noodles was a traditional dish brought over to the island by soldiers of Chiang Kai-Shek. It was amazing walking the streets of this mountain side town with endless shops and food stands. Next we went to the Shifen Waterfall which was beautiful. The walk to the waterfall was very nice with the suspension bridges over the river. From there, we went to old town Jiufen. Jennifer helped us add our wishes to a lantern and launch it skyward. We walked along the railroad track and enjoyed shopping and snacking on bubble tea and peanut ice cream rolls. Jennifer made everything easy for us and we had much more time to enjoy each location than in a group tour. Jennifer was very knowledgeable about the history and people of north Taiwan. We agreed this was the best tour we had on our 14-day cruise in south east Asia. Jennifer even sent us a sketch of us after the tour. What a fabulous day!!!!! Thank you again Jennifer!!!!
Tony was an exceptional guide and perfect for our day with a 5 year-old exploring Taiwan. He was so kind and insightful. He was well-prepared (water, umbrellas, etc.) and provided great insights throughout. He was so kind to help us capture moments throughout the day and sharing photos and videos while we explored together. The tour does require some walking and steps, so I suggest for those with mobility, especially to fully enjoy some of the waterfall views and old town. With a trip heavily focused on urban cities, we opted for this tour to experience a different side of Asian culture in villages and nature. It was well worth it!! It is busy - no escaping that - but there were treasures to be found in the food, sights, smells, and kind Taiwanese who welcomed us. You can’t go wrong with the value of this tour - we recommend this 100% and hope you support this tour company.
It was a great experience to decorate and launch our own lantern into the sky (from a railway track), and then wander around the adjacent shops and cafes. The Shifen Waterfalls were gorgeous - a bit far to walk in the heat, but great. Jiufen was an interesting place. We only got to see the laneways of shops, but had a nice meal and a shop there. The Golden Waterfall was interesting too. This is a good tour, a long drive between stops, but I would recommend it.
We booked Discover Taiwan's Charms: Jiufen & Shifen Private Day Tour. Jennifer was wonderful, she texted us and got to our hotel earlier than planned and it worked out great because our independent morning activity was a bust due to the long queues at the 101. Her smile was very contagious, her car was pristine and safely took us to these two beautiful towns plus two waterfalls. It was a holiday in Taiwan and she was able to get around the traffic and crowds making our excursion very memorable. She suggested restaurants and helped us order lunch and dinner. Took pictures for us and gave us some detailed information about the history of Taiwan . If we go back to Taipei for sure we would use their services again.
This tour was the best of our 2 week cruise. I believe our guide was Leo, and he was great. Shifen lantern village was absolutely fantastic. So much fun, and the local shopkeeper made us laugh so much that we could hardly catch our breath!! Loved releasing the lanterns that we had painted our wishes and blessings on Then the Shifen waterfall was also wonderful, so beautiful!! The hillside city of Jiufen was really great too. Although it was a LONG way up, with rock stairs, that took quite awhile to get up, expecially those of us who are older. Many flights of stone steps, but once we got up there it was worth it. And the geo park with all the rock formations was also fascinating and beautiful. Could have done without the small town of Shifen, interesting, but not much to do there except look at a few buildings from the mining days.
Jennifer Yang is a delight! She was a wonderful guide to show us this beautiful country! Best tour experience we have had in a LONG time! Highly recommend her and this tour. She always considered our comfort, whether it was in how safely she drove, or how she anticipated needs for breaks and food. And she was friendly and professional throughout. She also shared so much background with us and took us to diverse and wonderful places. Wish we could have done this for more than a day!
We had a wonderful private day tour exploring Shihfen and Jiufen and local waterfalls. Our tour guide, Jennifer, was terrific -- warm and knowledgeable, plus she took tons of pictures for us! We couldn't have asked for a better experience (except for less rain -- but even wet it was a good day)! We saw lots of massive tour buses and we were glad that we had the nimbleness and flexibility of a private tour by car.
Oscar provided an enjoyable tour and we highly recommend him to others! He promptly picked us up on time in a comfortable, spacious vehicle. He had a lot of interesting info and facts regarding the sites. The highlight was the sky lantern experience! One thing that stood out is how accommodating he was with a person in my group with mobility issues. This was greatly appreciated! Thanks for a great day and we hope to meet up with Oscar for another tour someday!
We had a lovely day with Wilson. He looked after us so well getting us local treats to try and making sure we didn't get lost! We had a lovely time at the tea shop in Jiufen making our own tea, then a walk through the sights, smells and sounds of the market. Then on to Shifen and what fun personalising our latern then launching it into the sky. We finished at the waterfall and a look across the city from a park. We would highly recommend this shore excursion to anyone arriving by cruise ship.
Tony Kuo was fantastic! He was at the port early to pick us up, drove and gave us all the local information and history of the area! Took us to the waterfall, to see off lanterns, to an amazing POW park, to a local place for lunch with a great view! He even took us to see some temples along the way when he realized how beautiful we thought they were. He also showed us the mountains and explained all the details behind them. And he took us shopping in Jiufen and even insisted on carrying all of our bags. He was amazing!!! He also brought his camera and took tons of photos of us and the scenic views and gave us the memory card. Definitely one of the best tour guides I have had!! Ty for a wonderful time. Brian and I really appreciated you!
James was a great guide! He showed us two awesome waterfalls, and we had an amazing buffet lunch at the Grand hotel in Taipei. We chatted about the area's history and TSMC. His English was pretty good.
