If you’ve stayed at a DoubleTree before, you know exactly what to expect—and this property delivers a classic, predictable experience. Nothing was mind-blowing, but nothing was bad either; it's a very solid middle-of-the-road choice in Taipei. The Good: Rooms: Spacious, clean, and well-maintained. Service: Staff members were consistently friendly and welcoming. The Cookie: Still warm and delicious at check-in! Location: Super convenient. It's a short walk to the MRT station, department stores, and surrounded by plenty of great restaurants and shops. Room for Improvement: Breakfast: The breakfast spread felt a bit weak and underwhelming compared to other hotels in the area. Fortunately, I received it complimentary through my elite membership status, so it was fine for a quick bite, but I wouldn't pay full price for it out-of-pocket. Verdict: A reliable, hassle-free hotel in a convenient part of town. Recommended if you prioritize clean comfort and great accessibility.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights with my two children. This stay was unplanned because we had to cancel our trip to Nantou due to Typhoon Bavi. My wife had stayed at this hotel previously and highly recommended it. Another reason we chose this property was its location—it is only about a five-minute walk from the Regent Taipei, where we would be staying next, making the transition between hotels very convenient. Both my wife and I are Hilton Diamond members. Our second night's reservation was under my wife's name, and during check-in I was initially told that my Diamond benefits could not be applied because the reservation was not under my Hilton account. After I explained that I am also a Diamond member and was not attempting to use my wife's status in place of my own, the staff reviewed the situation. Later that evening, they informed me that they would provide complimentary breakfast for two on the second morning as well, citing the severe weather conditions. I appreciated both their flexibility and their willingness to accommodate us. Since this property does not have an Executive Lounge, Diamond members receive complimentary beverage vouchers instead. During our stay, we received one voucher that included three complimentary drinks. We arrived before our room was ready, so we went out to buy some snacks and returned shortly afterward. Because Taipei had announced precautionary closures due to the approaching typhoon, many businesses were closed that day. While we were enjoying our complimentary drinks in the lounge area, a staff member politely informed us that outside food was not permitted there, even for hotel guests. Although we understood the policy, it was something we hadn't expected. On a positive note, the beverage voucher was excellent, offering a wide selection of drinks, including cocktails, and was noticeably more generous than similar welcome drink vouchers I have received at some IHG hotels. Most of the hotel staff were young and energetic, and their uniforms had a colorful design inspired by soccer jerseys. It created a fun atmosphere, although it felt a little unexpected for a Hilton property. That may simply reflect the unique culture and branding of DoubleTree, as I have stayed at Hilton hotels far more often than DoubleTree properties. Our room was comfortable and thoughtfully designed. I especially appreciated the large work desk, which is becoming increasingly uncommon in newer hotels. Although this is not a large property, the room size felt very reasonable for Taipei. One thing worth noting for guests arriving by car is that there is no dedicated driveway in front of the hotel. There are two parking spaces available for briefly unloading luggage before moving the vehicle into the underground parking garage. We returned our rental car shortly after checking in, so we did not have an opportunity to use the garage ourselves. Breakfast is served in a semi-buffet style. Guests choose a Chinese or Western main course from the menu while drinks, bread, and several other items are available from the buffet. There is also a Chef's Special that changes daily. As a Diamond member, I received a 20% discount for the third guest. I also appreciated that a scallion pancake breakfast set was available exclusively for Diamond members, which made the elite recognition feel genuine rather than symbolic. The hotel's location is another major advantage. MRT stations and bus stops are both within a short walk, making it easy to explore Taipei. Several popular attractions are also nearby, and the famous Fu Hang Soy Milk is only about a 15-minute walk away. The front desk also keeps plenty of umbrellas available for guests, which proved especially useful during our rainy stay.
The room size is decent, nice and comfortable. An extra special thanks to the friendly and helpful staff working at the guest counter on night 8 Jul 2026 and morning 9 Jul 2026. My flight was cancelled due to upcoming typhoon. The staff took the extra effort in helping me to contact my airline company. Oh the daily breakfast is nice too.
The rooms are beautiful and comfortable, and the staff is wonderful. The hotel is in a prime location with many restaurants nearby and easy to get to the MTR. I am glad that we stayed here, although there are a few negatives. The gym is unreasonably small for the size of the hotel. There’s only one bench, no rope for the cables either. The breakfast "meal set" design did not work for my family. If I had better researched this breakfast design, we wouldn't have stayed here. Breakfast is an important component for a tourists travels. I highly recommend they update and restructure to a buffet style more typical of other Double Tree locations. I also recommend a review of the Double Tree cookie recipe to verify compliance with corporate standards. These issues aside, there are many reasons to love this hotel. The staff go out of their way to offer a friendly and inclusive "home", the lobby is peaceful and relaxing, the rooms are very comfortable and modern. We are overall happy with our stay and would recommend this location to others.
Booked our stay with DoubleTree Hilton Taipei Zhongshan in January for our first trip to Taiwan. Guest service was wonderful - as it was also my mom's first-time traveling overseas, I requested for a connecting room or at least for the rooms to be as close to each other as possible - hotel's response was not only prompt, they went above and beyond to arrange a lovely connecting rooms for my family. It really enhanced our experience. Staff were lovely and always ready to offer help/advice on the city and transport details. Hotel is located at a great vicinity, makes all the planning super convenient. Will definitely stay here when we visit Taipei again. Highly recommended.
