The room was spacious and comfortable. Definitely worth the five star. The reception staffs were very friendly. Can’t speak for the life guard at the rooftop pool though. He responded to my question about bathing suit policy for kids in a rather rude manner, an attitude not becoming to a 5-star hotel. As nice as this hotel is. I will likely not return again.
Our stay at the Shangri-La Far Eastern Taipei was overall very enjoyable, although the hotel is clearly showing its age. The rooms are spacious and comfortable but would greatly benefit from a complete renovation. The furnishings feel somewhat dated and no longer fully match the standard one would expect from a luxury hotel of this category. The staff deserve special recognition. Every member of the team was exceptionally courteous, friendly, and eager to help throughout our stay. The outstanding service is undoubtedly one of the hotel's greatest strengths and made us feel truly welcome. There is, however, a noticeable difference when it comes to breakfast. The breakfast buffet in the main restaurant was disappointing. While the selection is extensive, the food itself is rather bland, uninspired, and lacking in creativity. In contrast, breakfast in the Horizon Lounge was excellent. Although the selection is much smaller, every item is of outstanding quality. Everything is fresh, carefully prepared, and delicious. If you have access to the Horizon Lounge, it is definitely the better choice for breakfast. Overall, the Shangri-La Far Eastern Taipei stands out for its exceptional service, spacious rooms, and the excellent breakfast in the Horizon Lounge. However, the hotel would greatly benefit from a refurbishment of its rooms and public areas to once again meet the high standards expected of the Shangri-La brand.
A nice upscale hotel that has good service and comfy spacious rooms. Furnishings not only extrude elegance but also functional. The coffee table looks nice but at the bottom it also house the palte and silverware for you to use to enjoy the fruits and snacks they prepared when you first arrive. Bed is nice and firm, pillows and comforter is very comfy to sleep in. Bonus for the tech geeks: there Ethernet port on the side of the desk actually work! So you can plug in your laptop or travel router and have more consistent internet connection. Lastly I also appreciate their use of glass water bottles in the room to cut down on plastic Easter bottles. The water is filtered and tastes great. Overall, we had a great time and restful stay here. Will definitely come back again!
Shangri-La Far Eastern Taipei. As an international travel group company coordinating accommodations and logistics for 11 guests, we truly appreciated how attentive and accommodating the staff were throughout the entire process. A special thank you to Jenny, Crystal, Renee, and the reservations and guest services teams for their professionalism and responsiveness leading up to our arrival. The team helped coordinate our airport transportation, arranged breakfast boxes for our early departure, and was incredibly communicative throughout our stay. One of the highlights was the private bus they organized for our airport transfers. It was comfortable, beautifully maintained, and even had charming traditional-style curtains that gave it such a unique local touch. After a long international journey, it felt like such a warm and memorable welcome to Asia and was the perfect beginning to the Asia leg of our trip. After traveling more than 13 hours internationally and arriving very early in the morning, the hotel’s assistance with early check-in for several of our rooms made a huge difference for our group. Being able to shower, change, and rest shortly after arrival was something we genuinely appreciated and it set the tone for a wonderful experience in Taipei. The hotel itself is beautiful, comfortable, and exceptionally well run. The service level was outstanding from start to finish, and the hospitality shown to our group did not go unnoticed. We would absolutely recommend Shangri-La Far Eastern Taipei for both individual travelers and group stays visiting Taiwan.
Great hotel! The buffet had so many options it was a highlight for us each morning. The rooftop pool was nice with a lifeguard always on duty. The lifeguard was very helpful in offering floats and goggles for my kids. We stayed in a family room and it was very spacious and clean. We had beautiful city views including a view of Taipei 101. There is a supermarket on the bottom floor which made it easy to grab snacks and drinks.
