Expect more from such an expensive 5 star hotel. The cold faces and unfriendly service of the lobby employees is very disappointing. They require a firm re-education on how to provide warm and welcoming service to hotel guests. Another detail I would like to mention is: 4 pm checkin is a rip off and unfair. Also this must be the only hotel restaurant in the world that doesn't have salt and pepper anywhere available.

The Hotel truly impressed with their professionalism and care. My daughter sustained a deep cut to her temple area during our stay there, and naturally we panicked. Thankfully, we booked this hotel - it only took a quick call for them to send someone up promptly to help clean and bandage the wound, and also help call a cab to send us to the nearby hospital (just 15 mins away). We felt so well taken care of in a time of need. The hotel location was great too - it overlooks the danshui river, there was a huge beautiful green space adjoining the hotel for young kids to play in, and is an enjoyable stroll along the danshui river to danshui old street. The breakfast offerings were tasty and healthy, with kids-friendly options. Overall, a highly recommended place to stay for family with young kids!
If youre looking for a quiet getaway this place is suitable. The hotel is located in a more quiet area of Tamsui where there isn't many shops or restaurants except for the mall its attached to. But the mall is small no groceries but there is a theater and a few restaurants. The room was spacious. We had a view of the golf course so it was a nice pleasure peaceful view. The building withstood the 7.0 magnitude earthquake we experienced so thats a plus. However, what detracts from the experience is the breakfast. It was a very unpleasant experience. It was so busy and the lines were so long with many people cutting in and grabbing food like its the last meal on earth. It was pure chaos!!! They split the breakfast into 2 groups but even that doesn't help the crowd because I see people from the early group still there during the second breakfast period. The food variety doesn't change much day to day. The staff does try to replenish the food when empty but sometimes it takes a long time because of how hectic the breakfast frenzy is. They do offer a free shuttle to and from the Tamsui MRT but it requires reservation. However, the time slots start at 11am or 11:30am which is late. They need to expand the hours. If youre looking to enjoy the quietness of Tamsui this place is an option but the breakfast experience detracts from the 4 star rating of the hotel. And even a 4 star rating is questionable.
During my stay in Taiwan in connection with Tamkang University’s 75th Anniversary celebration, I had the privilege of residing at this hotel. Both the accommodations and the overall environment were of an exceptionally high standard, reflecting refinement, comfort, and meticulous attention to detail. On the day of my address, I regrettably realized that I had misplaced my presentation manuscript. This unexpected oversight caused considerable distress; however, I was fortunate to receive extraordinary assistance from Kings, a member of the hotel staff. His exemplary professionalism, composure, and unwavering dedication far exceeded my expectations. Through his prompt and thoughtful support, he alleviated a highly stressful situation and enabled me to proceed with confidence. It is rare to encounter such a level of genuine hospitality and service excellence. Owing to Kings’ outstanding conduct and the hotel’s commitment to superior service, this stay has left a lasting and deeply positive impression. I extend my sincere gratitude and offer my highest recommendation to this establishment.
My time at the Golden Tulip was incredible. When returning to Taiwan I spent a few nights there, but later in my trip retuned to the Golden tulip. Their service is what stood out the most. From check in to check out they were always very helpful. The rooms are great. The Golden tulip in located in a great stop of Tamsui. Anyone looking to go there will find this a convent place to stay. The view outside with the water and Bali island is always beautiful to see when you go outside. The morning buffet was great too. Plenty of food to try. Out of all the hotels I have stayed at in Taiwan, i must say it again, it was the service of the staff they really made the experience stand out from the rest.
