The hotel’s location near the harbor is excellent for watching the maritime activity. I found the swimming pool to be well-maintained and clean. Additionally, the breakfast was satisfactory and the room provided plenty of space.

The Evergreen Laurel Hotel in Keelung turned out to be the perfect base for exploring the city. It’s right on the waterfront, so the views are incredible — especially at night when the harbour lights up and the ships glide in and out. We loved waking up to the sight of the water and the sound of the port coming to life. Inside, the hotel feels classic and comfortable — a little old-fashioned in style, but spotless and well cared for. Our room was spacious with big windows looking up to Zhongzheng Park Temple, and the beds were really comfortable after a long day of sightseeing. We had a huge room with 2 double beds and a sofa. The kids loved the play room at the hotel - we spent a lot of time here letting the kids enjoy the toys. They were also fascinated with the games room and really enjoyed the swimming pool. The location couldn’t be better — just a short walk from the night market, Keelung Tower, and the Magpie Bridge. For us, we had picked the hotel so it would be easy to board our cruise ship at Keelung Port. If you’re visiting Keelung, Evergreen Laurel is a solid choice for families or couples who want comfort, views, and easy access to everything the city has to offer. Update, Jan 2026: I am updating my review because we have now done a second stay at the Evergreen Laurel Hotel in Keelung after a cruise. We arrived in the morning, way before check in time. The staff were so kind and happy and chatted with us about the room and when it should be ready for us that day. They gave the kods balloons and gave us a map and some recommendations of where we could go explore all while they would store all of our heavy luggage for us at the hotel. We trust this hotel - so much so I left my backpack that I normally force myself to take with me because it has my laptop, medicine and powerbanks and such in it. But I left it this time, I have fibromyalgia and I suffer with severe pain when I do carry a backpack so it was a releif to leave it knowing it was safe. Again, we had a huge room with 2 double beds. We are a family of 5 with a 10yr old, 5yr old and 2yr old. We could all fit in the beds but some nights out 5yr old did sleep on the sofa. The sofa, table and chairs were so handy for us as the kids like to eat in the room (it is less overwhelming if you have autism). We swam every day we were here, the pool is warm but not hot. You will get cold if you sit outside of it when you are wet, but otherwise you'll be fine swimming in it. We loved that we could use the machine to drain our swimsuits on the last day so we could pack them without them being wet. Each day our mini fridge got restocked and so did any snacks that we had eaten. The room was made up every day and all the bins emptied and any towels we needed changed were also changed. There is shampoo, body wash, conditioner and lotion to use in the bathroom and they smell great! The hotel is really fantastic for how much you pay for your room. We have enjoyed this hotel both times and would absolutely choose to stay again.
Great location. A bit far from the train station and it was a complicated route. Recommend taking a taxi. Near the port. 10 minutes walk for us. The rooms are clean, spacious. Plenty to eat around there. All price range. Would come back again.
The location of this hotel is excellent! It is right in the heart of the harbour and it just minutes away by foot to the Keelung night market. The rooms are well maintained and everything works. Water pressure is high. The only issue is the noise when the adjoining room has opened the tap full blast to fill up the tub - it was quite loud from my room. I think the sound proofing is poor. the hotel has a swimming pool, sauna, hot bath for guests to use. The service staff manning this area are professional and courteous. However, my bad experience came with a lady front counter staff upon checkin - indifferent and very transactional. This hotel has a very good underground car park. The location is safe. Overall, a pleasant experience, except for the front counter staff at checkin.
The ocean-view room was fantastic, offering a wide, open view of the sea and a spacious daybed where you can simply relax and take it all in. The swimming pool was another highlight — it’s indoors, but with a transparent roof that lets in natural light and even allows you to look outside. I especially appreciated that the pool had a dedicated lap lane, so those who wanted a proper swim wouldn’t be disturbed by others just splashing around. Breakfast was abundant and delicious, with plenty of protein options. I highly recommend the freshly cooked beef soup and the omelet — both were excellent. The staff were warm, welcoming, and provided top-notch service throughout my stay.
