The room was amazing, the bed was up to standard and the toilet side was incredibly spacious. The 4.7* rating is justified, its not a perfect 5* but it is much better than a 4* hotel. The problem(minor/opinion) I have with the room is that a larger couch is missing, so there are only 2 chairs. The toilet also has no lock so in the case that you're using it and your roomate doesn't know, it'll be an awkward moment. When I first saw that Cuncyue was a Hot Spring Resort, I was under the impression there would be a hot spring. But not only was there a hot spring on the 5th floor, there were also private hot springs for every room(including the lowest tier room). The 5th floor also gave access to an outdoor swimming pool which is a nice amenity. Lastly, the rooftop view was amazing, although its not 360°(maybe 270?). They provide free telescopes which can see further away & you could see stars in the sky and when pointed on the moon, you could truly see what the moon is like.

Nice big room. Nobody to help you with bags coming in or out. Seems to have a lack of staff even though the place is huge. The rooftop bar does not have the vibes or the service. You need to scan a QR code that will bring you to the line app just to order. I have a problem with my line app so I couldn’t order. Bar Host was hiding behind his desk.
This is my first time ever giving a 1-star Google review. Room was amazing, the view is magnificent. But, here are some supporting criticism: 1. Check-in was extremely crowded during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday. However, if you operate a resort with over 100 rooms, you should anticipate peak-season demand and have proper procedures in place to handle it efficiently. 2. This is 2026. Everything is managed online, and you already know how many guests will be arriving in advance. Staffing requirements should be planned accordingly. Being understaffed should not be an excuse for poor service. 3. The TV system and WiFI was not working properly. We confirmed with guests in neighboring rooms that they were experiencing the same issue. I suspect this affected many rooms because everyone was accessing the same network, causing heavy traffic. Regardless, technical issues like this should not become the guests’ problem. 4. It is summer, and the sun is already up by 5:00 a.m here in Yilan. I went to the swimming pool at 5:30 a.m. specifically to avoid the crowds, only to find it closed. The receptionist informed me that the employee responsible for the pool does not start work until 7:00 a.m. For a resort of this scale, this is difficult to understand. 5. We came here to relax and relieve stress, but unfortunately, we left feeling even more stressed. 6. Considering the price charged, the service provided was far below expectations. Looking through the other 1-star reviews, I noticed many guests reported similar experiences during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday. 7. Management needs to take a serious look at the resort’s operations. The issues we experienced expose shortcomings in planning, staffing, service management, and crowd control during peak periods. A resort should be prepared for predictable holiday demand and ensure that facilities, services, and guest experiences are maintained at an acceptable standard regardless of occupancy levels. This review is not intended to damage the resort’s reputation. Rather, I hope it will be taken as constructive feedback and an opportunity to improve the guest experience in the future.
Outstanding kaiseki experience. The food was exceptional, beautifully presented, and full of delicate, well-balanced flavors. Every course showcased top-quality ingredients and expert craftsmanship. The service was equally impressive, attentive, professional, and perfectly timed throughout the meal. The view from our table was also stunning, making the overall experience even more memorable. Highly recommended.
Big and clean rooms Felt empty, could be the season. Breakfast had a lot of options, but seemed meh. E.g. the only fruit available was cut oranges, grapes and a whole banana. The spa was separate so you can't go with your partner. You get a voucher for a drink on the rooftop, however you are not told you need to buy for 400 dollars before it can be used. Felt weird being asked to preserve the environment by reusing the towels when you are asked to let the water run for 10-15 min before using it. Not sound proof, could hear the train going by every 30 min.
