The hotel is located an hour from the Alishan National Forest area. Although not very convenient, there is a 7-11 right outside. There is also a trial to the top of a tea plantation with a nice view. The highlight is watching the sun rise from the roof top. The hotel also has 2 shows of the Alishan tribe in the evening. Room is nice and comfortable.

My wife and I recently stayed at Hotel Indigo Alishan to celebrate her birthday. After our trip, we decided to share this review directly from my wife's perspective. Our stay at Hotel Indigo Alishan was nothing short of magical. Looking for a mountain getaway for my birthday without having my husband drive too far from Kaohsiung, we chose Hotel Indigo Alishan. We expected a relaxing getaway, but took home a profound sense of warmth and care. Upon arrival when the lobby was quiet, our host Anna thoughtfully offered to take a photo for us, framing the stunning bamboo lighting background perfectly. What we thought was just a phone photo turned into a printed keepsake handed to us shortly after—it felt like magic! ☺️ Anna’s photography skills were so impressive! 👍🏻 When we opened our door, alongside a gift from my husband, the room was filled with beautiful birthday decor. My husband honestly admitted, “I didn’t arrange this!” 🤭 The hotel team had specially arranged this surprise. Thank you for making me feel so celebrated from the moment I stepped in. A small bump was that the room's B&O speaker couldn't connect initially 🥹. Huge thanks to the engineering team for stepping in swiftly to troubleshoot and returning it by early evening. The issue was fully resolved, allowing us to enjoy our music night. One of the most moving parts was the Tsou cultural performance during dinner. Watching through the glass on the 1st floor was captivating, though reflections made it slightly hard to see. Wanting more, we headed to the rooftop after dinner for the bonus show—with a completely different performance! ☺️ (If weather permits, opening the glass doors during showtimes might allow 1st-floor dining guests to enjoy it even more!) The rooftop "Trilogy of the Hunt" allowed us to feel the Tsou stories of hunting, warriors, and heritage. What touched me most was the performers' pure passion—singing and dancing with eyes sparkling with pride. Before going up, I said I'd drag my husband up if there was interactive dancing, but when the time came, he was the one pulling me up! 😆 The atmosphere was so warm and contagious. Special thanks to Luma Cultural & Creative Studio and every performer for singing Happy Birthday to me. Receiving such a blessing in the mountains is a memory I'll treasure forever ☺️. (As a side note, seating in the viewing area was a bit limited. Setting up flexible extra seating for larger crowds would make it even more comfortable.) Even at check-out, we kept admiring the design—from Blue Magpies along corridors and Warrior Pigs in corners to the lobby bamboo lights. You can feel how designers wove the land's story into every corner. Thank you to every team member at Hotel Indigo Alishan for a trip full of surprises, music, rich culture, and genuine connection. Though there's still much to explore, my husband said, "Leave a little blank space in travels—that gives you a reason to come back." ☺️ I love that, and can't wait to return 🤍. Thank you for a birthday memory we will cherish forever! 🙏🏻
An Unforgettable Anniversary Stay at Hotel Indigo Alishan We spent 3 days and 2 nights at Hotel Indigo Alishan to celebrate our anniversary, and the experience was exceptional. Thanks to IHG elite status, we received a room upgrade, and huge thanks to Anna and Toby for the amazing anniversary surprise! The balloons, personalized cards, complimentary cake, red wine, and local cookies and cute owl keychain were such thoughtful touches. All the front desk staff , Tia, Tiffany , Lydia , Emma. Michelle were wonderfully helpful and friendly. Highlights of our stay: * Rooftop Sunrise: Watching the sunrise from the rooftop with hot chocolate was incredible—no 3:00 AM wake-up call needed! * Food & Drinks: Breakfast and dinner were delicious, the complimentary high tea was fantastic, and the bartender crafted visually stunning cocktails. * Activities & Transport: The Aiyu & hinoki sachet workshop was super fun and educational by Ru and Tracy. The hotel shuttle service to Fenqihu and Alishan station was smooth, and the drivers were very polite. Even though mountain fog hid the stars at night, the warm hospitality made our stay perfect. Highly recommended!
A truly wonderful and memorable stay at Hotel Indigo Alishan. What touched me most was the genuine warmth and care of the staff. Whenever they saw me, they would kindly check in and ask how I was doing after my little accident. Those small gestures of concern made me feel incredibly well cared for throughout my stay. The food was delicious and wonderfully diverse, with local ingredients and elements of Alishan’s culture thoughtfully incorporated into the dining experience. But my favorite part was undoubtedly the view from the hotel rooftop. At every moment of the day, it felt like looking at a living painting. Watching the clouds and mist drift through the mountains was simply breathtaking. There was something so peaceful about being surrounded by that beauty—it made me appreciate Alishan even more and fall a little more in love with this beautiful land. Thank you, Hotel Indigo Alishan, for all the thought, care, and heart you put into creating such a special experience. I left with not only wonderful memories, but also an even deeper appreciation for the beauty of Alishan. ❤️
Little haven in Alishan. Clean, functional and luxurious. Bed is comfortable, shower is hot and water pressure is good. Love the little balcony with mountain view. Staff is very friendly and most helpful. Bruce at reception is most accommodating and very attentive to customers' needs before we even ask for it. It's in the middle of nowhere so you're bound to have your breakfast and dinner in the hotel but quality and options are good. They do have shuttle bus service to Alishan or to HSR in Chiayi, alternatively there's a bus stop 7329 right outside the hotel that takes you to Chiayi HSR or top of Alishan. It's still a one hour drive up to the National Park. Rooftop pool is heated so it's comfortable and scenic. Price may be a little steep but the quality of room, service and food make the experience worthwhile.
