Fx Hotel Tainan Minsheng Road Branch

We stayed here for two nights and i was not liking it at all. I am the youngest out of me and my only brother. We stayed in a separate room from our parents which was fine. our room was a bit dusty and dirty, especially the horse table towards the end of the room. The "balcony" space was insanely dirty and had lots of cigarettes lying on the ground. The breakfast they serve was not pleasant and all i had was some wedges and sausages. I tried the chocolate cereal and it was soggy, gross, and just not preferable. One night i heard knocking on our door but no-one came in. I was freaked out by this and just not happy. Then i heard another knock. The one good thing is that there is a bible next to the bed in case any supernatural being enter your room. The room numbers next to the doors are twisted for some reason so you have to look at it from head on and the window in my dads room was so tiny i could reach both ends easily.

This is nowhere near a 4-star hotel as it shows on google, at most a 2-star, hence the rating. Cleanliness is an issue. As you can see in the pic, the headboard of the bed is so dirty. Windowsill is dirty as well. They probably never cleaned these areas. The stool/chair doesn’t match the height of the desk. The elevator is slow and when you push the close button, it often triggers the open button.

Stayed one night in March 2026 with our 9-month-old. The location is genuinely fantastic — right in the middle of everything, walking distance to Shennong Street, night markets, and all the best food spots in Tainan. Staff was super friendly and helpful, and we were quietly upgraded to a room with a window instead of the windowless room we had booked. That's where the positives end. Despite booking a non-smoking room — and the hotel clearly seeing we were traveling with an infant — there was a noticeable smell of stale cigarette smoke and mildew throughout the room. Visible mold stains on the ceiling. Towels had holes in them. The musty smell seems to come from the poorly maintained air conditioning — reading other reviews, this has been a known issue for years and management clearly hasn't bothered to fix it. For a hotel that markets itself as 4-star and smoke-free at ~NT$3,000/night, this is simply not acceptable. Great location and kind staff can't make up for a room you don't want your baby breathing in. Would not return.

Very reasonable interior considering the price. Front Desk were efficient and able to attend to any needs. The room was comfortable, clean and accommodating. The hotel staff were quite chatty in the hallway early in the morning which lead to being woken up. Overall a good experience.
