Our very friendly guide was Tau, who spoke very good English. The boat driver was very good, getting us right by the wave, but safe from it. Unfortunately, the grotto was closed, but the snorkeling and walk in a cool chestnut forest was very nice. The ride around the Fenua Ahire was interesting, especially seeing the school boat bringing the kids home, as the homes are only reachable by boat. We took the morning tour. Coffee and pastries (donut like) were provided.
Excellent tour with very knowledgeable and engaging tour guide. Both really enjoyed it and would recommend it. Great way to see the surf and the island.
The best company to make all tours. Amazingly friendly nice caring loving people. Strongly recommend!!! U won't regret 🙏💛🩵❤️Haunui and Sylvie are amazing hosts. Nothing better than them🙏🤙🏻
Even though the weather only allowed for the half-day tour instead of the full-day, it was still an unforgettable experience. Watching the surfers at the world-famous Teahupoo wave and taking in the raw beauty of Tahiti Iti was truly special. Haunui is a fantastic captain and guide – knowledgeable, friendly, and kind. I felt very well taken care of and learned a lot along the way. Highly recommend!
This was our first excursion during our vacation. The directions to the launch were good; there is a small parking fee (500 pfx). The boat is operated by a family and their island hospitality was great- the banana pancakes, fruits, and juices were tasty. First stop was snorkeling on one of the coral mounts- really nice 30 ft drop off to get a bit of a wall. Next was to Teahupo’o, got to see some good rides. The tour went all the way past the last house and the view of the peaks and valleys were spectacular! We stopped at the hiking cabin and went up a river. You can get out and wade here. Fruits, juices, and spiked punch was served. It was just a lovely trip and such a great way to kick off our trip.
This was an incredible experience, and we are so happy that we took this tour. We were lucky to experience the powerful waves of Teahupoo breaking perfectly, and the tour of the Tahiti Peninsula with lunch on the river was magical! Thank you for a perfect tour and an awesome Tahitian experience. We can't wait to return!
Excellent trip. Great guides, really nice guys. The hike was definitely challenging, but the food and drinks were fantasticz big recommend!
Great day. Waves were amazing and hike was also fantastic. If you go to Tahiti this is a must. Our driver was a bit conservative, so he positioned himself mostly behind the wave, which doesn't show the impact as much. I wish he was a little more assertive. I get it's about safety, but we were the only boat on that side. Oh well was still great, but maybe he can position himself on the facing side going forward.
We have always wanted to see the big wave, and boy did we! But that’s not all. The half day tour takes you down the peninsula for up close looks at the lush Tahiti-iti west coast—past the end of the road, where residents can only get to and from their homes by boat. Some of the most beautiful coral, and stunning colorful fish. A stop for snorkeling at the sand bar is the perfect way to cool off in the mid-afternoon. And then once you’re all salty, straight to an enchanted jungle river for the most refreshing rope swing dip into the cold fresh water. The hosts make the entire experience so much more amazing! They give you all the fun facts and are among the friendliest folks we’ve ever met. As we were the only native English speakers on the boat, they put in the effort to translate all of the heavy-hitting jokes and laughs from the others. An absolutely perfect way to start our honeymoon. Thank you so much for an amazing time!
A awsome experience! Got to snorkel and take a hike along the coast to a beautiful waterfall. The tour guide was great. I would highly recommend.
We had such fun! They took us all over and we got to see things we wouldn't have been able to see otherwise. They gave us a glimpse into life on the island. It was amazing!
It's a fairly long car ride from Papeete (some 90 minutes), but well worth it. This family run business has been around for quite some time, and unlike their "new" competition, eager to jump on the Olympic games bandwagon, they know what they're doing and where to go. A perfect halfday trip, with some refreshments and fruit from the owners'garden. What else ?
Even though the weather did not cooperate and we did not get to explore Tahiti Iti as much as we (and the guides!) would have wanted, the guides and captain were extremely nice and tried to find as many ways as possible to give us the best experience. We went to a snorkeling spot, saw the waves for quite a while and they thoroughly explained all the sites. This is a family run business and it felt amazing to support them and learn more about French Polynesia. Since we couldn’t explore the full area due to weather, they treated us with an amazing lunch at the Plage de Maui (you should check this place regardless, food was excellent). Highly recommend and can’t wait to do it again with better weather.
Was a great trip had good weather it’s a at least a hour and a half drive from PPT to get there the crew and everything was perfect the hike to the waterfalls a little tough if you have a bad knee or hip
I’m staying in Punaauia which is about an hour drive from Teahupoo but definitely worth the trip, I mean why not explore as far south as you can go on the island?? I signed up for the half day but lucked out that everyone else on the boat was signed up for the full day, so they asked if I wanted to do full instead - Um.., yeah! Started out on the boat with some coffee, cinnamon pancake type things, and fruit. From there the we cruised through the lagoon to check out the big wave break where the Tahiti Pro surf competition takes place every year. After that we made our way over to a reef for snorkeling. All the while a lovely young lady named Tau acted as our tour guide explaining in both French and English all of the sights, cultural significance, and some other good commentary. We hung out and snorkeled for a good 45 - 60 minutes and after that proceeded to the peninsula, now there is no way of accessing this area by land so the only way you will see it is to take this tour. Once we docked we set off for a pretty awesome hike along the coastline which culminated with us hiking through a waterfall cave to another bigger waterfall that you can swim around and under, very refreshing! After all of that we made our way to the river Vano I think it’s called where we relaxed and ate poke with coconut vegetable curry, poke with curry/ black pepper and oil, Ume fish, fried rice, pasta, bbq chicken bits, and bbq sausage. I opted for the local beer while the others went for the rum punch. The others went to explore the river and swing on ropes while I stayed aboard and napped while listening to some chill music. On the way down and back we saw 4 whales breach which was pretty cool. So yeah, overall great day and worth ever penny. Thank you to Tau and the rest of the crew including the dachshund Tiki who is the captains first mate I believe 😁.
Tau was awesome and very accommodating. We were the only people on board that spoke english, but she took her time and made sure we felt included. The hike was fun, but bring water shoes. Flip flops won't cut it. If we get a chance to return to Tahiti, we will stay on Tahiti Iti. It is gorgeous.
We had a fantastic time on this tour! Unfortunately the weather was horrible, and the tour was almost cancelled as all other guests cancelled, but the company was kind enough to still take us and we had a fantastic morning. It started with breakfast on the boat made by our guide, then beautiful views of Tahiti, stopping by Teahupo’o, followed by a fun coastal hike with waterfalls. We then had the option to snorkel on a white sand bar, but it was still raining so we skipped that part. Our guide and the boat captain were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. We truly enjoyed spending time with them and learning from them. The tour starting point is quite far from PPT, so we luckily rented a car for the day to make it over there, I would definitely recommend doing that.
Wonderful captain and crew! We loved going on land and learning about the local trees and plants. Great knowledge and great stories.
We booked 9 months ahead for the half day tour. There was a flood earlier this summer, and the river portion of the tour was destroyed. Originally the boat trip was supposed to leave from behind the Teahupoo City Hall, so we went there, but it was the wrong place. Luckily a lady came and told us so with only 5 minutes to spare, we drove quickly to the only other visible jetty. It was cloudy and rainy, but we only had that day free so we had to go. Haunui was the skipper and guide. The boat was very nice and stable, & we felt very safe going out to see the wave with him. It was too cloudy and rainy to do the coastal sightseeing by boat, and we didn’t get a refund. So we paid USD 200 for seeing the wave, which costs $57 X 2 = $114. Be aware weather can disrupt the tour you pay for.
We didn't get to go. could not get a taxi to drop and off and pick us back up that far out of the main area of Tahiti. We were very disappointed, if the advertisement for the tour had stated how far a drive it was, we would have rented a car...we just didn't know until we asked our hotel to arrange a taxi, then we were told we would probably get stuck out there with no way back unless we paid several hundred dollars. More information about all the details would have been very helpful. We were sad to miss the tour and we did not receive a refund so it cost us lots of money too!
This was the highlight of our trip! We hiked a grotto and had to swim through to get to a beautiful waterfall. We were then taken to swim in the beach and then swim in a river that meets the ocean with warm water on the bottom and cold water on the top. Then, we rode out to the giant aces and watched the surfers. We had such a fabulous time and adored our tour guides!
We did the full day tour. I would absolutely recommend this company and excursion. The guide / captain was great. We got the chance to explore parts or Tahiti that can only be seen by boat. We hiked to a sweet waterfall, stopped to have an amazing lunch with some free time to hangout, then we got to do a bit of snorkeling. Thank you Teahupoo Adventure tours we can't wait to come back and do it again.
The boat ride consisted of a small group, the captain took us to places most tours don’t take you and we were allowed to take our time all day. Just a great day.
Super host Hunui, he is Local Surfer and know his home town every things. This is the easy way to see best beautiful marine life in Tahiti mail island. Our family love his hospitality and effort to enjoy even terrible weather for our day of tour. Highly recommend
Absolutely amazing. They welcomed us with coffee and breakfast snacks to start the trip and immediately brought us to Teahupo'o where we watched Team Japan practicing for the upcoming Olympics. Such a humbling wave, even on a "small" day. Great swimming opportunities with colorful fish at a sandbar on the edge of the reef and a secret cove with a rope swing. Knowledgeable and welcoming crew. We can't recommend them enough. Far better than the classic Safari trip through the middle of the island.
The captain provides a comfortable and inviting experience. The boat is top notch and clean. You get to see such beauty; right up to the Teahupoo wave, the gorgeous shore of Tahiti Iti, swim through perfect coral, jump into a freshwater pool. You will not regret taking this boat trip.
OMG! This is the best. This is bucket list! Huani is the most knowledgeable guide ever. He is amazing, his boat is perfect and the tour doesn’t get any better! Thank you so much!
An exceptional day despite a little capricious weather. Crew with excellent top meal. A very day to do
I definitely recommend this outing. A superb day very well organized with a good meal. Mauruuru roa
Discovery of the wildest and most natural part of the island 😁 From the great surf wave of Teahupoo to the waterfalls, basins and caves! We did some snorkeling, hiking, swimming, boat rides and a nice barbecue. And above all a ton of smiles, kindness and humor from the three crew members: Our guide Tao who is as captivating as he is full of charm, our Captain, Chef and eel charmer Robert and his adorable little dog Téquila!
Excellent tour with a pilot guide himself surfing! Very nice with lots of explanations. This surf village is better understood after this excursion.
Day with super friendly friends, good atmosphere with our guides, visit the wave of Teahupoo safe with the Pilot! Several spots for swimming (sea/river), nice little hike from 7 to 77 years, lunch on the nice boat, bbq meal, papaya, swimming again! I recommend +++
An excursion a bit ruined by the very bad weather that day. However, we were able to appreciate the kindness of our service providers who did everything to introduce us to the mythical wave of Teahupo'o and its surroundings. We even saw the famous whale in the field of the Judges Tower. Exceptional to see in the same place this whale whose photo toured the world during the surfing events of the Olympic Games.
We had booked a half day trip and were spontaneously invited to join the whole day because all other guests had booked the full day trip. We didn't regret it! The snorkeling was great and the hike to the waterfall a real highlight. But beware: For this hike you have to be really fit! In places you have to pull yourself up/down on ropes. The tour guides are very nice and tried and simply carried our 5 year old daughter over the most difficult places. But: The stones are very slippery and I fell despite water shoes and smashed my shin. I would do the tour again at any time, but next time just keep my sneakers on and run with them through water and mud. The subsequent stop to eat was very nice. The food itself was delicious and swimming in the river with swing rope was fun.
A superb day spent discovering a side of the island accessible only by boat. Hearty and varied meal. The team is really adorable 😍!
Incredible release! A super friendly crew, magnificent views over and under the water. An outing off the beaten track to do again and again.
To do without fail in French Polynesia, What a great experience with Haunui and Robert. We left the marina at 9:00 a.m. and returned at 12:30 p.m. Very nice stop for snorkeling for 30 to 45 minutes, colorful fish. Then, visit to the big wave which is really impressive, the French team was there to practice, it was a pleasure to watch them. We leave for a small river and a short walk in the forest with very pleasant swimming. Haunui gives us very interesting information about the region. Lunch is served to us, the homemade tuna bread is excellent. Then slowly it's back to the marina passing through a marine reserve where the corals are of rare beauty. A superb experience that I recommend.
What a wonderful day. Thanks to Tau and Robert (not forgetting Tequila). We had a day of waking dreams. Thank you both for this day full of discovery 🤩🤩🤩 We will come back for sure.
Friendly time with nice people and available. The visit to the cave has not been possible for more than 2 years but the moment in the river was great. Little moments coffee cake and rum break great fruit
At the top, I really advise Very attentive driver and guide Closest to the wave of teahupo Then visit Tahiti iti
We had a great day. The team was at our little care, very friendly and very professional we always felt safe. Snorkeling spot on top. Bonus of the day: we saw a whale and its young. Excellent and hearty meal.
