If you like to stay in a traditional Tahitian hotel then this is it. It used to be Le Meridian, then Double tree and now locally owned. The property is going through renovation but don’t expect a Ritz or modern look such as Hilton or Marriott. It needs a lot of work on their grounds and landscaping. Food choices are pretty bland and there is absolutely no international cuisines. We ate only once there because it’s not very tasty. Can’t eat Tuna with coconut milk or fish and chips or local cuisine every day. We had to go to Papeete for some Teppanyaki. Would it kill them to add some variety? I think it’s a missed opportunity for them for additional revenue. There is nothing spicy on their menu except a bottle of Tabasco :-). Breakfast is $45 per person as a buffet. Parking was free. I had to check out early one day and they wouldn’t refund me one day room cost. Not happy about it. The pool is nice and the lagoon is convenient. Over the water Bunglows are over $1,200 usd/ day at least if not more. Oh and if you loose your room key its $25 to replace it. Seriously? Net net this property has potential but they are not realizing it yet. Room had a safe but not refrigerator. Just a cooler. Tv had only French channels. How about some English content such as CNN, BBC, CNBC, HBO, Bloomberg etc., ….

2/5 Very disappointing service, especially for a hotel charging around £250 a night. We asked for an iron, but it never arrived, so we had to go out for dinner in creased clothes. We booked a taxi through reception at 4pm for 6pm. At 6:15pm we were told it was on the way. At 6:40pm we asked again and were then told they had forgotten to book it. We missed our restaurant reservation because of this. The following morning we asked reception for some milk for tea in the room and were simply told “no”, with no explanation or attempt to help. We came to the bar at 9:15pm, despite it being advertised as open until 10pm. The staff member serving us was incredibly rude, clearly annoyed that we wanted a drink, slammed fridge doors and spoke to us with a terrible attitude. I asked her name she refused to give it. For £250 a night, the level of service was nowhere near acceptable. We would not stay here again.
Very nice over water rooms. Spacious and comfortable. Happy, chatty employees at the outdoor restaurant as well as reception (at least on check in). Remember that you need local (!) cash for your airport taxi as for some reason, you can't charge transportation to the room.
We stayed here July 26-28, our last stop after the other islands before heading home. It was on more the west side of the island which we've never stayed in before. Our over water bungalow seemed brand new. Hotel itself was nice. Went to the restaurant for dinner twice, and both times we had the most confusing service with waiters brining random stuff to our table, mixing drinks up. Our second night, I ordered the grilled chicken and was served raw pink chicken. They remade it, and the second try was served pink raw chicken again. I gave up after that and didn't want to make a fuss. But yeah, disappointing. I ordered a taxi from the front desk twice, and both times when we walked to the lobby, the taxi had not been ordered and we waited a pretty long time after she ordered the taxi then and there. We were really late to a dinner reservation. The front desk service during check in and out was also just flat out weird. I hate saying this but it seemed like they didn't receive proper training? Or they didn't care? I don't know, it was weird. The breakfast buffet was not worth it. And I'm sad because I live for breakfast buffets internationally. I'd say the Hilton Tahiti's breakfast buffet is quite worth the price. But the one here, was a bit sad, sparse, and lacking. My omelet was runny and watery, protein selection was blah. Fruits were blah. So the hotel itself and the lagoon, the beach, the pool was nice. But I don't think I would book again.
Superb food. The pool is fantastic. The staff are very helpful, including the security guards. The cleaning team are friendly and flexible, and there is drinking water available throughout the resort, with the coldest water dispenser conveniently located by the check-in desk. We barely left the resort because we had a dance event to attend and because the resort itself is so lovely. The location is a short taxi ride from the airport and a little longer from the ferry terminal. The lagoon access is a nice touch and makes it easy to enjoy the water without leaving the property. There is easy parking, and the main building has a beautiful traditional Polynesian design. The resort is also a short walk from a supermarket if you want to pick up supplies, although the food on site is so good you may find yourself eating at the resort most of the time. The resort has a gated entrance and guests enter and exit via reception. This provides a good sense of security, although it can add a little extra walking in the tropical heat. Communication by email in English wasn't always straightforward, which is entirely understandable in a French-speaking country. When communicating, it helps to use the 24-hour clock and to confirm check-in and check-out dates and times to avoid any misunderstandings. Overall, I would happily stay here again and would recommend it to other travellers visiting Tahiti.
