The Taronga zoo was amazing and definitely a must when visiting Sydney. The package comes with the fast ferry by Captain Cooks and was fun and a fantastic way to get to the zoo and also see Sydney from the harbour. I highly recommend this!
What an incredible zoo! It’s beautiful! The grounds are beautiful and it’s the best zoo I have ever been too sounded by water just amazing!
You still have to pay like$1.00 to take a bus ride to the main entrance or walk up an incline hill to get there.
Well worth the trip, loved it. Got there taking Captain Cook ferry. Highly recommend. Good shows. Wear comfy shoes, lots of walking.
Great ferry ride to Taronga Zoo and exploring the zoo. The zoo is on a hill, so lots of up and down walking. Great experience seeing the zoo animals. Nice views of Sydney city from the roof of the ferry.
My family had a lovely day at the zoo. It was unfortunate that a lot of animals were not on view the day day we were there. Nevertheless we enjoyed the time we spent there and the Australian animals we saw.
Love the transport (Captain Cook) and the Zoo was amazing. We’d heard it was a cool experience on an island and built in a series of switch backs. Worth an afternoon!
We walked around at about 10am for an hour and a half there were very few animals out in their enclosures i suggest maybe going slightly later in the day
Quick ferry ride across the bay. Definitely take the bus to the top entrance, all downhill from there.
From the ferry ride to the first section we were mesmerized. In my life I have never seen such a spectacular zoo. We also paid for a private five minute visit with koalas in a private cage. Well worth it.
It’s great, everything was very smooth. Got the vouchers easily at the wharf. Boat come quite often. The zoo was wonderful, saw koala! Should get tickets to be able to encounter with koala at the zoo. It’s about US$25/person.
We had a wonderful time but I would highly suggest some good walking shoes because there are a lot of steps
It is nice zoo but at the same time the enclosures for the animals are not that big and in my thought very sad to see
Great views overlooking the Sydney harbour with well looked after rare animals. Plenty of toilets all smelling good too The spider housing could be a bit brighter to see the arachnids Great location
well organized trip and great time
Worst experience ever! Booking was made and was wrong date so was charged an amendment fee to fix it and the woman at Captain Cook Cruises was so rude and unhelpful. Will NEVER book through TripAdvisor ever again, ended up costing me double what it would have cost me to book direct with Taronga Zoo!
Loved it !!! Clean tidy and perfect weather Unfortunately couldn’t see tigers as they were out of viewing area
Everything was amazing but I especially liked feeding the giraffes. It cost extra after we arrived and the experience was short but it was worth it.
Nice view of harbor. Good variety of animals in semi-natural habitat. The animals native to Australia are spectacular.
Lovely zoo. You get to hang with the emus, wallaby’s and kangaroos. The seals were wildly entertaining. Ferry ride had gorgeous views of the harbor.
Great ferry cruise to Taronga zoo but waiting for the bus was a bit of issue. Waiting time took a long time to arrive to the zoo might be a let down.
Beautifully situated zoo and well thought out route around to see all the animals. Ferry across from Circular Quay was quick and docked a 3 min walk from the lower zoo entrance. There is also a bus service available for a 10 min transport up to the main entrance if that is preferable, but I can't really see why that is needed. We wandered around and saw everything, stopping also for a coffee, and can recommend allocating 2-3 hours for this visit, perhaps more if you have children as there is lots to hold their attention. Overall a recommended visit if you are in Sydney and looking for things to do.
Cool to see the animals although we went on a hot day and most were hiding or sleeping. Highly recommend going early and when it is cooler
Gorgeous zoo with up close viewing habitats. Animals very active. Loved the seal show. Bird show over rated and only 3 birds to see flying around. Friendly staff and volunteers.
Excellent trip to Taronga Zoo. The Captain Cook ferry was very clean and right on time. The zoo was very impressive and enjoyable. We are not huge fans of zoos but we really appreciated Taronga’s commitment to conservation, education, and stewardship. The animals are treated well and given plenty of space. Food for humans is adequate ;-)
Super easy on and off at the ferry, beautiful views of the bridge and opera house. The zoo was amazing, spent the whole day there. There are various animal encounters you can donate to and see animals up close: koalas, dingos, giraffes, just to name a few. I definitely recommend this experience. Exceeded all expectations.
I had a really great day at Taronga Zoo and enjoyed every minute of it. The zoo is beautiful, very well kept, and has such a great setting overlooking Sydney Harbour. There’s plenty to see, and it’s a lovely place to spend a few hours just walking around and enjoying the animals and the views. The ferry ride from Sydney was a great part of the experience too. It was easy to find and very convenient, and the views of the harbour along the way were fantastic. It’s a nice way to arrive at the zoo rather than just taking a car or bus. The staff and volunteers were very friendly and helpful, and the map made it easy to find our way around. One tip: take the bus up after getting off the ferry, especially if you don’t want to walk up the steep hill. Then you can enjoy a much easier walk back down through the zoo. Overall, it was a very enjoyable and memorable day, with the zoo, the animals, and the beautiful Sydney Harbour views all in one experience. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Sydney, especially families and anyone who enjoys nature and wildlife. Absolutely worth doing!
Clean, great exhibitions....simple to navigate with the help of the zoo map. Friendly volunteers and staff, great food options at the food center.
Nice ferry ride . Zoo had a nice variety of animals and grounds . Seal show was great ! Interesting old buildings snd reptiles.
First, the ride across the harbor was lovely. I like being on the water anyway but seeing Sydney from the harbor was nice. Second, the bus ride up to the top of the zoo was a really good idea. Third, the zoo itself is amazing. The enclosures for the animals are obviously well kept and the animals themselves are clearly well taken care of. Every staff member I spoke with there was friendly and helpful and I learned a lot. After 3 weeks of travel, I was pretty tired so I didn't see as much of the zoo as I would have liked. But I'm coming back to Australia next year and I'm hoping to visit again. I do recommend this excursion very highly.
Taronga Zoo is a magical place. Easy ferry ride and entrance to the zoo. Very relaxing to stroll around to see all of their amazing animals and shows. The views from the top are stunning.
Check the wharf location. Get there early to understand the schedule. I would do this again but would have understood the schedule better to not miss the first ferry.
Ticket collection was really easy. Ferry transit and zoo entry was all simple, with plenty of times available when leaving the zoo to travel back to the circular quay port.
Great experience to spend half day in the zoo. It is variety of Australia animals and the view from the zoo is fantastic
Great Zoo and ferry ride, very fun experience
Great ferry trip and good for pictures. I don’t know if I want to go to the zoo again. Great views of harbor.
Not the best when it’s raining and overcast but it would be lovely otherwise.
This is a must visit location when visiting Sydney for the first time! Beautiful view of the city from the zoo. Would visit again if I return to Sydney!
Need to put in what currency the price is. No where did it say it was in usd and I was paying in aud
Was too much time between the last and second too last ferry so we took a local ferry instead
Zoo is great family day out. Fantastic view points for photos of the city and good assortment of animals to watch. Removed a star for the restaurant. I had a chicken burger for $19 that was inedible. Hot food was totally overpriced and poor quality. Pack a lunch.
A lovely zoo with so much to see but make sure you look at the weather forecast and don't go when it is raining!
Cold and rainy, but the animals were beautiful. Went specifically to see native Australian fauna, and loved that. The gorillas stole the show!
Didn’t know there is a public city run ferry that goes straight to the zoo, with more frequent schedule. We missed our 1:15 boat and the next one is 3:45. That big gap is inconvenient, so we forfeited our ferry return and pay for the city ferry. Don’t buy this package just go on your own, better and cheaper.
The zoo itself was great. But this website is incredibly misleading. We booked the experience from Australia on a .com.au website. The advertised cost of $186 is an ok deal in AUD. It was not made clear in any way during the purchasing stage that the charge would be in USD ($270 AUD). You can get an online family ticket directly from the zoo for $117 and public ferries for about $10 each return. The public ferries offer much more frequency than the options with this experience. There was no ferry commentary, this experience offered nothing additional . I contacted customer service before posting this review to request the difference be refunded but they but they did not wish to accommodate my request. Wherever you live in the world, save yourself the $ and book direct.
Very impressed with the zoo Plenty to see and the good weather helped
Great experience at the Zoo however RIPPED OFF by trip advisor showed NO reference to USD in anything until the last page even though we had selected Australia as where we were looking from. TRIP ADVISOR are then impossible to contact to sort this out. The whole experience left a bad feeling
It’s fantastic to see Australian wildlife and experience zookeeper presentations throughout the day. While the zoo is less than intuitive to navigate, staff bent over backwards to help out. The food available could be a lot better and was not a highlight.
Being my first time in Sydney and having no car, this sounded like the perfect way to see more of Sydney and the Zoo. The ferry to the zoo was fantastic what beautiful sights to see the opera house, the Sydney Bridge and surrounding areas. The zoo was amazing I loved it. Staff were so helpful and was just and amazing experience that I totally e joy my day trip!!! Top marks and a really great price for the zoo and ferry combination.
