Awesome day — Jimmy is fantastic and really nails everything from the sites to the wine and the food. Would recommend 100%!

I've been fortunate enough to visit wineries and experience wine tours before, but what Jimmy created in the Hunter Valley was something truly special. From the moment we stepped into the van, it was clear that this wasn't going to be just another wine tour. Jimmy shared stories, history, little fun facts, and a genuine passion for everything he was showing us. But what really blew my mind was the food. Instead of simply taking us from winery to winery and leaving everything to the cellar door staff, Jimmy personally prepared a beautiful breakfast and thoughtfully paired his own dishes with the wines throughout the day. Every stop felt like a new chapter of the experience, with each pairing making perfect sense. And just when I thought it couldn't get any better, he surprised us with a Wagyu burger and an absolutely unforgettable crème brûlée. You can really feel his background as a chef in every little detail. I also want to mention something very personal. I joined this tour on my own, and somehow ended up sharing one of my favourite days in Australia with a wonderful group of people. Between the conversations, the laughs, the life advice and the incredible wine, I never once felt like I was travelling alone. What makes Jimmy different isn't simply his knowledge, his cooking or his choice of wineries. It's the genuine care he puts into making people feel welcome, looked after and part of something special. Thank you, Jimmy, for such a beautiful day. I came for the wine, stayed for the food, and left with a huge smile and some beautiful memories. I couldn't recommend this experience highly enough.

Small group Hunter Valley wine tour. Led by owner/ chef Jimmy. Started at 6:55am with a tour of the Sydney Fish market to pickup fresh seafood for the meals. Second stop in Brooklyn Aus NSW for fresh cooked breakfast and “roll your own sushi”. Next on to HunterValley for 3 wineries. First winery “just” a tasting. Second and third wineries included Jimmy freshly prepared food to pair with the wines. Included numerous courses of cheese, appetizers, seafood, sushi, waygu sliders, and desert. Plenty of food and wine. Pairings were well thought out to match the wines. Back in Sydney by 6pm. Jimmy was thoughtful, courteous, loved his work, and made it look effortless.

This guy knows his stuff. Had a great day with Jimmy. He was informative throughout and kept us well entertained. The food and wine pairings worked a treat, and the chosen wineries were entertainment in themselves. This fellow runs a small company - him and his bus - and has found a fine balance with work and life. Thoroughly recommended.

From beginning to end it was great! Jimmy is an amazing guide and chef. He is correct when he promises you won’t come back hungry. We visited three wineries all with great experiences. We even saw some Kangaroos :) I highly recommend this tour, you won’t be disappointed.

We had a fabulous day with Jimmy on his wine and food tour. The combination of so many different wines and courses was really well thought out and all absolutely delicious. Jimmy was a great guide, chef and host, he made the trip a lot of fun and memorable.

The tour was fun, interesting, and tasty. It was a small group of six, which I think is his max for a tour. Wines were good with several food pairings provided by the tour. We even saw kangaroos!

This was a wonderful day! We had great food prepared by our chef Jimmy, and the wines served at the wineries were excellent. Loved the entire trip - all the birds we saw, the sushi rolling lesson and the tour of the new Seafood Market made it all a great experience.

This is a wonderful day. First a visit to the fish market to look around and pick up fresh seafood for the day. Then a great alfresco breakfast at Brookland, then wine tasting at 3 vineyards. Brilliant food during the wine tastings - it says Gourmet Getsway Tours and Gourmet Food and Wine is exactly what you get. I cannot imagine a better wine tour anywhere - to add to the experience the other guests on this tour were super friendly and made the day really really special - loved it

I really cannot say enough about how amazing this tour was. We started with a pick up at The Four Seasons Jimmy the tour operator took us to the fish market first to pick up the seafood needed for our sushi roll making later in the day. The fish market is a beautiful building and it was a very cool experience. We were able to grab a coffee before we hit the road. Our first stop was a nice park overlooking the water about an hour outside of Sydney. Jimmy cooked us breakfast, which included croissants, breakfast quesadillas, of a variety of fruit, fresh juice, and an amazing banana bread. Then we headed to the Hunter Valley, where we visited three very different wineries. At each wine are we were the only patrons and had the full attention. We had at least six tastings at each winery paired with a multicourse meal that Jimmy presented to us with each wine pairing. The value was amazing and we left stuffed! Jimmy was very kind and is truly a gourmet chef! He accomadated my nut allergy very carefully as well as accommodating someone who is a vegetarian as well as another guest, who did not consume pork. If you are considering booking this tour, don’t hesitate!

We had a wonderful time on this day long tour. Starting out at the Sydney Fish Market, we got some solid information and a great sneak peak early in the day, before the crowds set in. Then we got back in the comfy van and completed part of the journey after which we had a stop with picturesque views to take in while Jimmy prepared a top notch breakfast. There was then a bit more of a drive into the Hunter Valley to begin the wine-tasting part of our day. We visited three wineries in all over the course of the day, each of which was a bit different, offering a nice variety of experiences. All three of the wineries offered lovely wines, delivered in generous pours. Jimmy prepared delicious food to truly elevate this experience tremendously. The food, wine and scenery were all amazing. But, the absolute star of the show is Jimmy. He gave credit to his Mum for suggesting he combine his talents as a chef and a tour guide. So happy he took her advice! Those talents are impressive and we benefitted from them. But it was his ability to engage with us and all of his guests in such a thoughtful and humorous way that absolutely made this feel like a day spent with friends enjoying all that was around us. Truly, this was one of the best vacation days we have ever experienced. We wholeheartedly recommend this tour!

Here what we shared with our FB Travel group: Wednesday was a planned day in Sydney, no rushing to catch a flight. Instead, I booked a tour to the Hunter Valley wine region with a pick up before 7:00AM. Since we have no idea what time zone we are in, it was fine. We were actually up at 4:30AM (7:15 Chatham time, 6:30 Auckland time, 5:30 Norfolk time and 8:30 in Tahiti.) We didn’t just go on a wine tour, but booked with Jimmy’s Gourmet Getaway Tour. First stop the Sydney Fish market, WOW. Then we had a cooked breakfast in Brooklyn, and visited 3 wineries where Jimmy provided hot nibbles to accompany the wines. Jimmy was a 10, food was a 10, wine was drinkable but not memorable. Thursday, we rush off early in the morning to another island.

Jimmy did a great job and it was well worth the cost for this tour. Good variety with the 3 different wineries and the fish market, and the food was excellent!

This tour is so much more than the description leads you to believe. From the tour of the Fish Market to breakfast at the river and, of course, the three lovely boutique wineries, you will not be disappointed. Jimmy is a natural born chef and tour guide. He provides an invaluable stream of knowledge and information that only adds to your experience. And the food he prepares is exquisite and an excellent accompaniment to the delicious wine tastings.

Absolutely Fabulous! If you like food and want to explore Aussie wine, this trip with Jimmy is for you! The fish market is interesting and beautiful..and more than just fish. Then the breakfast he cooks the group in a park overlooking a bay is so picturesque. We visited 3 boutique wineries and Jimmy cooked and brought the food in to pair with the wines. He is a great guide with a good mix of historical facts, cultural facts, great story telling, and a phenomenal chef. The grilled asparagus with truffle oil paired perfectly with the white. The oyster with finger limes from the fish market with the semillion, etc. You will not leave hungry or thirsty. (And there’s a good chance you’ll spot some wild kangaroo). It’s a full day. When you need or want a day away from the typical touristy things of Sydney, book this tour!!!

What a wonderful day. The chef led gourmet tour is a wonderful blend of a food tour and wine tasting. What could be better than wine tasting in the lovely Hunter Valley while being served gourmet courses? Jimmy is a fun and creative chef and the menu pairs nicely with the wines and wineries. We had an absolutely wonderful day with Jimmy. He gave us an awesome experience to remember Australia. We went to the superb Sydney Fish Market and visited three unique wineries. Jimmy prepared delicious food for us throughout the day. We had Australian foods prepared in an excellent manner. It was fun chatting with our fellow travelers and hearing about unique Australian customs, food and experiences.

Just AMAZING! We were in the middle of a 122 day Around the World Cruise, and this has been our favorite excursion event so far. Just a great day - - interesting people, some really good (and some really great) wines, and a chef who really knows what he's doing. Well-thought-out use of local ingredients, perfect blending of flavors, and executive-chef-level execution. And a nice guy to boot - - kept us informed and entertained throughout the entire day! So glad we decided to go.

The trip was brilliant once we got on the bus, just don’t use Viator. We were not staying at an hotel in the centre of Sydney so opted to be picked up at the first stop of the tour, the fish market. We spent a couple of hours finding this pick up and were directed to a corner of an exit road from a freeway in the middle of nowhere! Thankfully , we had time to change this pickup to a more convenient one in the centre of Sydney. When we were picked up we were taken as planned to the fish market where the coach parked up in a lay-by at the fish market, why was this not the spot to be picked up if this was the most convenient place to be picked up?

The BEST tour I have ever been on. Jimmy is so knowledgeable. I loved going into the new Sydney fish market (where jimmy bought fresh fish he was going to cook for lunch). I loved his breakfast spread he made us. I also loved the vineyards he brought us to. The wine was amazing, the food was amazing, jimmys commentary was amazing, the atmosphere was amazing, altogether a 100000/10 day! Thank you again!

This was a very well thought out, informative, and fun adventure. Jimmy was very knowledgeable about everything we encountered and was great at giving explanations and background on things. I found myself relaxing and just enjoying the experience. I would definitely recommend. The mini bus was comfortable, there were ample clean, rest stops. The food was exceptional and the wine education and tasting was great. We even got to see some local wildlife. I would definitely recommend this!

If you want to do the Hunter Valley wine experience this is the way to do it. Jimmy did a fantastic job and cooked us some delicious food. The region overall only makes a few types of wines, so we had a lot of dry white wines and dessert wines which aren’t my personal favorite. I probably would have been disappointed with the region overall if not for Jimmy and his delicious food! Also great chance you will see Kangaroos!

Chef Jimmy picked up us from the Four Seasons (close walk to our hotel) promptly. After another couple pick ups, he took us to the new Sydney Fish market which has only been open a few weeks. It is huge with all kinds of different seafood (and restaurants offering lunch and dinner). Jimmy bought fresh sashimi salmon, oysters, cooked Bug, and scallops. He drove about an hour outside of Sydney to a small local park, cooked breakfast while we took a short hike in the park, and the breakfast was amazing. We had a sushi lesson making sushi out of sashimi salmon and cooked Bug. It was a lot of fun making the sushi, which we all shared later paired with wine at the 2nd winery. We went on into Hunter Valley and visited three small boutique wineries. At the second and third wineries, Jimmie paired freshly prepared food with the various wine choices for tasting. All the food ingredients were fresh and prepared excellently. A bonus was seeing several kangaroo in the wild. We highly recommend this tour. You’ll taste good wines and go home full of good food!
