Stuart the driver and guide eventually found us at the pick up point. Viator had given us the wrong location. Mercure hotel on Lee Street not George Street. Okay only about 100 yards difference but we were panicking. Fantastic experience visiting three vineyards in the Hunter Valley. Expert someliers passing on their knowledge and expertise. Superb wines throughout and an excellent lunch at a very posh golf club as well. Nice cheese tasting half hour too. A long drive there and back from Sydney but Stuart kept us entertained with his knowledge of the area with some amusing stories thrown in. Excellent days excursion.

After the Sydney Marathon, I went on the hunter valley winery trip with a friend. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed 3 different vineyards, a resort for lunch and a creamery. Plus we saw kangaroos! It was definitely a jammed pack day and was perfect way to recover from the marathon. Our tour guide was great and knew his audience was here for the wine :) Everyone I encountered was super friendly and mega shout out to Brad the owner of Activity Tours who helped me recover an item after the tour. I would do this tour again in a heartbeat.
Great day exploring Hunter Valley with our guide Stuart (Stewart)? Comfortable travel van and places we visited were very accommodating. Thanks for the wonderful day!
Good trip with great guide Stuart
Great experience in a small group (14 guests), entertaining and knowledgeable guide (Stuart), beautiful wines and food, engaging hosts, comfortable ride (loved Stuart’s playlist), and we were delighted to see some kangaroos!
Nice and experienced tour guide
My husband and I did the Hunter Valley winery tour and had an amazing time. Our guide Stuart was awesome. We visited three wineries and a cheese shop. We really enjoyed the small group size; it felt less chaotic and much more personal. It’s definitely the best way to enjoy the tour.
Ben was a great guide and we did everything that was included in the trip. We even got to see kangaroos. Great trip!
Lovely experience, beautiful wineries, delicious wines, wonderful lunch and cheese tasting. And we saw kangaroos!!! Our guide Ben was amazing. Huge recommendations if you like wines and want to see beautiful landscapes outside Sydney!
Excellent day in the Hunter Valley. Our driver, Stuart, was fantastic - so knowledgeable and great fun. The 3 wineries/cellar doors we visited were great - all different. Delicious lunch and cheese tasting.
We have had an amazing day out with our tour guide Stuart. He was very informative and professional and kept us on schedule. The wineries were very good , lunch hit the spot and we even got up close and personal with the wildlife. Our travel companion were an international mix and were great company . Have some wine to take home thanks for a fun filled day. Barry and Luanne New Zealand
Stuart was such a fabulous guide! It was a great day with great wine. Highly recommend
Ben was a great host and all the wineries we visited were great! We had an amazing time!
Amazing day with Jeff. It was a small group of us so our experiences at the wineries were fantastic. I am recommending this ten out of ten. Lunch was great and it was all such a pretty surrounding on a beautiful day.
Stuart was a fantastic guide for the Hunter Valley Wine and Cheese Experience! He was very knowledgeable and the locations included on this tour were all very special and unique. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone looking to visit the Hunter Valley while in Australia!
Had the most amazing day with Ben! The history, the wine the scenery was just perfect.
We had Ben today, and he was fantastic! The local wineries were wonderful, both the tasting and the people. Was a special treat to see some wild kangaroos at our last stop.
Ben was awesome. Enjoyed the tour enjoyed the conversation. Ben was very informative and kept as well informed.
Ben was a wonderful guide and information source and an equally personable leader. We very much enjoyed being with him and our group which he fostered.
Really fun day, wine, history and nature - Stuart was awesome.
Great tour, personable guide. The wine at the wineries was delicious and we saw a mob of kangaroos in one of the vineyard.
Hunter Valley Wine and cheese tour were well planned. Raphael was an excellent guide and a safe driver.
Very enjoyable day with a lovely and informative guide (Rafael). Excellent value for money.
Ben was a fantastic tour guide! The day was full of stories both on the Hunter Valley and of his adventures all over Australia. We stopped at 3 wineries, a cheese factory and a resort to have lunch and all stops allowed us to taste delicious local products presented by the artisans. Definitely would recommend this tour!
We had a fantastic day with our 8 new friends and our guide, Brad Pitt! Beautiful countryside, boutique wineries, luscious wines and cheeses, and a lovely lunch. Highly recommend this tour.
It was a good experience, but maybe not a great experience. It’s about a two hour drive out to Hunter Valley from Sydney. Our driver was good - there was a ‘pit stop’ at a highway gas/road stop halfway where you can get some breakfast fast food and if you are desperate. The three wineries we stopped at were unique in their presentations - if we could combine all three you would have the perfect presentation. Wines were mostly young - and of course it’s always personal preference, but we found some we liked. Lunch was at a lovely golf course- ready when we got there because it was pre-ordered, but was maybe a 2/5. Cheese and chocolate tasting were literally that - “taste this cheese, taste this chocolate” - nothing special or informative. Could do without this portion of the tour. Our driver, John, was kind and patient, with some interesting stories.
Guide Ben or Fin was great. Great people we met! Could have done without the cheese factory or done it earlier in the day. Very filling with all the wines. Would have preferred cheese with wine tasting. You do make a stop for bathroom break halfway to first vineyard where can get coffee and breakfast.
Ben, our guide, was very entertaining. Wines were good and so was the lunch!
It was a wonderful experience, great day and loved learning about the region and wines.
We had Rafael for our guide, he was professional, friendly, and explained very well, got us in time to each venue and very accommodating to everyone's needs. Took us to 3 wineries, cheese maker and lunch at the Cypress Creek Golf Resort. It was a wonderful day.
A very nice day, well balanced with interesting cellar doors, beautiful club for lunch and good cheese to taste. The van was clean and comfortable and the guide/driver Stewart was excellent. We recommand this tour.
Ben is an amazing guide. We spent a wonderful day. We have learned so many things and saw such beautiful landscapes. Thank you Ben. Karine and Martine
What a fun adventure! It was so nice to get away from the city and see a different side! Patricia was amazing and kept us well entertained. She was kind, knowledgeable and fun! Don’t miss out on this outing!
It was a long day but Stuart kept us entertained and informed. All 3 vineyards were of quality and professional. Lunch was prompt and I, for one, really enjoyed it. Stuart, our driver/guide, knew his job and was a fun person.
Terrific day. Rafael kept the group moving along yet it felt like we had plenty of time at each stop. Rafael was friendly and humorous. Highly recommended!
Stuart was a friendly and knowledgeable guide. It was quite a long drive, thankful for a “courtesy stop” about 1/2 way to stretch our legs. The valley was beautiful but the wines weren’t really to our taste, mostly whites and Shiraz with citrusy notes. The cheese and chocolate stops were a hit. We had pleasant company so it was a good day all around. Lots of napping on the way back.
Patricia was wonderful and very accommodating for my mobility challenged husband with a cane! She was prompt, knowledgeable and kind!
Stuart was a great narrator and all around good bloke. Lots of van time so plan on getting comfortable. Well organized and very enjoyable wines. We would recommend.
The wineries they picked for us to visit were quite a treat. We enjoyed the cheese stop as well. If I had one suggestion, I would go to the cheese place before lunch, earlier in the day if at all possible. We had a great lunch (also included), but it was right before wanting to eat cheese and we were full.
Superb day out. Highly recommend . Ben was an excellent tour guide and the 3 vineyards and cheese making tour were a big highlight of our Sydney trip
Wonderful variety of wines, lovely lunch and an excellent guide. The cheese selection was small but good. Excellent day.
Delightful day! Stuart was a great guide, enjoyed him a lot. We visited 3 small boutique wineries … enjoyed them all. Stuart found us some kangaroos at the last one! Cheese tasting was very nice and lunch was ample and tasty. Only suggestion might be to not have the cheese immediately after the fairly hefty lunch. But we all did eat it and enjoyed it. I do recommend this tour!
We went on a wine, vodka, cheese and chocolate tour. This review isn't about the firm that took us on the tour because someone else booked it for us and I can't remember what the name was, whoever it was they did a fantastic job getting us from A-B, this review is my opinion on what you should do on the tour because a lot of time is wasted doing boring stuff. Ok on my opinion give the vodka, cheese and chocolate a by, the vodka is poor quality flavoured the stuff you get around Xmas in a bottle shaped like a ball or shoe over priced crap, the cheese was nice but nothing u don't get at home ok if you live in Australia but no good if you have to hold on to it then transport it back to the UK and then chocolate we sit down and the first thing we get told they import it from Belgium so kind of done that in Belgium and then we look around the shop and they are selling chocolate from five miles from my home so not a Ozzie experience. We visited three wineries tasted a lot of wine, spoke to passionate people who produced the wine and knew everything about it, this was worth doing we also stopped off for a bit of food can't fault it.
We had an absolutely fantastic day on the Hunter Valley wine and cheese tour. The wines were delicious, the atmosphere was relaxed, and everything was very well organized. Our guide, Tony, truly made the experience special with his engaging stories and interesting facts about Australia. We couldn’t have asked for a better day and can highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area.
Very well organised, but rushed to visit the 3 vineyards and lunch stop. Tour leader was very knowledgeable and went above and beyond to accomadate clients wishes. Compared to vineyard tours in other countries, the Hunter Valley did not meet expectations, and were disappointed with it, rather than the tour organisation.
Although this was a good day out and not terrible, Saddlers creek was a nice start and the best of the lot was The Hanging Tree. Everything else was average and tired. Last vineyard was run down, even dirty glasses for the tasting! Lunch could have been swapped out for a nice platter at one of the stops maybe? Our driver for the day was fun and friendly but not really dressed to represent a company. Long way to travel for this experience. Wouldn’t recommend.
Ben was excellent so friendly and informational, especially as a solo traveller. The lunch included was delicious and the cheese tasting was an unexpected treat. Saddler vineyard was my favourite - Scotty was great.
Was a great experience with Yang. He was accommodative and was pleasant . The two places we went were good and and enougth wine samples. Lunch was huge portion and delicious
Our guide was great, the trip was well organized, lots to do in short time. I would give it 5 stars except for one of the wineries where the person serving the wine was off the mark. Otherwise a great way to spend a day tasting good white wines. This is not known as a red wine region and tasting the reds confirms this.
John our guide was very nice, however I would have liked for him to talk more about the wineries we were visiting. The first winery was Saddler Winery which was fabulous. We also went to two other “boutique” wineries which were run down properties with wines we did not like. It was sad driving by so many beautiful wineries and not stopping. We also stopped for our “guided artisan cheese tasting” which turned out to be 5 crackers placed on a board with a soft cheese spread. We ended the day with a chocolate tasting at what turned out to be a little shop with bags of pre wrapped candies in little cellophane bags. I have no idea why we stopped there it had nothing to do with wine. But on the plus side we didn’t have to stop at another “boutique” winery. I do not recommend this tour. Go on your own or with a tour that gives you some options.
