Koey Tsui, the Assistant Manager, is absolutely amazing. She is always warm, welcoming, and highly professional. Every stay has been comfortable and enjoyable thanks to her genuine hospitality and attention to detail. It's because of her exceptional service that I keep coming back to this hotel rather than staying elsewhere. Room was lovely, beds and chairs very comfortable. Service was a bit lacking. Room booked for 3 adults, but only set up for 2 in cups, glasses, slippers etc. Requested more from front desk when heading out, but not supplied. Had to request again from housekeeping. First day front desk staff not very friendly or welcoming. Bar staff equally aloof. Numerous emails from hotel asking for preference around room etc prior to stay, but they did not fulfil request.
The reception staff was very helpful and friendly, we were granted an early check-in which was fantastic, the rooms were nice and the gym excellent. Unfortunately we had a poor experience at the buffet breakfast. We arrived at 9:45am and several food stations were empty or looked very un-appealing. Considering the price for the breakfast buffet the choices were not very rich. The staff were friendly and responsive, but at a busy time it was difficult to refill things and serve customers between only the two of them.
After getting to our room, we ordered a single plate of Fish and Chips from the Room Service menu, and was told it would take 30 minutes to arrive. 45 minutes later, we called reception in search of our food and ended up on hold for 10 minutes with a never ending, repeating, recorded message stating that everyone was busy and that they'd get to us soon, like a stuck record being repeated without pause. Finally they answered and said they'd call us back. After another 5 minutes, they were very sorry, and estimated another 15 minutes wait for our food. All up it took over an hour to arrive. The fish was golden battered, the chips were crispy & well seasoned. The salt shaker provided contained a rather hard ball of damp salt. When we removed the bottom of the salt shaker to investigate, it was crusty and looked as if it hadn't been opened for a number of years. There was a table in the room, big enough for two people to sit at, one either side, but only one chair was provided, which had extremely wobbly legs that felt as if they were about to give way when sat on. We filled in the breakfast menu and left it on the door handle outside overnight, and was greeted the next morning by a tray with two plates, three drinks (only two of which we ordered), two sets of cutlery, and a single cloth napkin to share between two people. Who's the bright spark that thought it best to use one napkin to wrap two sets of cutlery in??? We were also given another rancid salt shaker with the exact same style of salt content and stale crusty bottom stopper as the one we already had in our room from the previous night. So, how was breakfast? We ordered a plate of fried eggs on toast, and a plate of scrambled eggs on toast, which both came with fried tomato, and two very small triangles of hash browns. The eggs were a bit iffy, and gave the impression that they were slightly past their recommended consume by dates. The toast was a slice of damp, barely toasted, sourdough, and absolutely no butter was spread nor provided to spread onto it. The tomato was overcooked and dry, while the hash browns had been soaked in a very unpleasant tasting cooking oil. The coffee was extremely strong and bitter. Now I like a good strong coffee, but this was completely undrinkable, and half a sip was all I could manage. There was also a cup of tea supplied that we didn't order. The only palatable thing was the glass of juice. What we did eat of the breakfast left us feeling ill for the rest of the day. It was absolutely revolting! When we went to check out, there was only one young girl on reception, and she was busy dealing with someone who was having lots of problems with payment options. We couldn't just throw our keycards into the quick checkout box and leave, because we had to ensure we weren't charged an extra $6 for the cup of tea we didn't order, nor want, so we had a bit of a wait until she was finally free to see to us. All up, for the single fish and chip dinner, the two inedible breakfasts, an undrinkable coffee, a juice, and two small bottles of coke, we were charged a bit over $100 AUD. An absolute rip off, considering the appalling food we were served for breakfast, which took up most of the bill. The room itself was not very sound proof. The sounds of doors shutting loudly outside, the stomping footsteps of what sounded like children running about upstairs, and people walking about next door. We could hear music at one stage during the night. Not somewhere I'd recommend staying at. Especially if you intend to use the room service. Slow service, bad food, disgusting salt shakers. Overpriced inedible food, and as I said, it left us feeling ill for the rest of the day.
Our stay was superb from start to finish. The rooms were very clean, spacious and well Maintained. Excellent location. Special touches for my daughters birthday was also very appreciated
