Namib Desert Walk

This was the only "activity" we did outside of our 2 week self drive trip through Namibia and we are so glad we did. Kevin was friendly, articulate, fun and hugely knowledgeable. My wife, who has a pathalogical fear of snakes and was terrified at the start of the walk ended up loving every minute of it, although not yet cured of her phobia! 3 hours to be recommended thoroughly .

We both really enjoyed the desert walk, the guide was extremely knowledgable and happy to answer all our questions. Plenty of time to explore the dunes and find as much wildlife as possible. Would recommend to anyone.

We had such a great morning doing the Living Desert walking tour with Kevin! The fact that the whole tour is on foot makes it such a cool way to explore the Namib Desert and really take everything in without disturbing or damaging the environment or its inhabitants. Kevin is clearly super passionate about the desert and its wildlife, and we learnt so much about the ecosystem and the role all the different animals play. He also has an unbelievable eye for spotting wildlife... no idea how he finds some of these animals! We had such an awesome morning seeing different snakes, gecko, lizards, chameleons and of course Albie. Everything was done in a really respectful and ethical way, which we really appreciated, and we left with some amazing images and memories. Easily the highlight of Swakopmund for me. A great guiding through the desert. Kevin is fantastic on finding and following tracks that ends up in seeing the small animals that lives in Namib Desert. It's really nice to walk with him, instead of sitting in a car, and try to help tracking.

This was a wonderful morning walk in the Namib. Kevin is a very patient guide and his enthusiasm for the area really shows! We saw many different reptiles, learned about the ecology, and had a great time.

Exploring the Namib on foot and discovering all its little inhabitants with Kevin was an incredible experience. He has an amazing knowledge of the local ecosystem, which he knows how to convey very well. Very eco friendly and with respect for this amazing place. He does tours in German and Afrikaans as well. An absolute must to do if you wish to spend 3 hours on foot exploring the Dunes close to Swakopmund with a experienced local guide who makes the whole experience very special. Kevin managed to locate several very special creatures who make their home in these Dunes none of which can be found anywhere else on the planet. He provides an extremely informative talk on the fragile eco system that these creatures rely on to survive and prosper. Kevin is clearly dedicated to preserving this very special part of Namibia. Highly recommended!

Kevin is an exceptional guide, friendly, knowledgable and accommodating. He showed us so much on the dunes - snakes, chameleons, tracks, explained the land, formation, rocks, everything you need to know. It was definitely a holiday highlight and I’d do a walk with him anyway. We chose the walk over going in a vehicle on the dunes, you see and learn so much more when walking.

This has been the most eye opening adventure i have ever been apart of. The guide was extremely informed and knowledgeable about the desert ecosystem. We had no idea of the life that exists in the desert. We recommend this tour to absolutely anybody visiting swakopmund in namibia.

We did the 3 hour walking desert tour. It was brilliant. Kevin's knowledge, storytelling, and concern for the environment all came through. Unlike another tour in the area (they do quadbikes too...), he doesn't dig up animals that are nocturnal or took days to develop their lairs just to show them. He tracks amazingly, shows what he finds, and talks about the rest. It is a safari, so it will change what you see on the day, but we saw a snake, chameleons, lizards, and insects, and learned about the wonderful ecosystem. It was one of the best tours I've had.

Amazing experience! Our guide Kevin was very knowledgable and always happy to answer our questions on the Namib desert and its animals. We were lucky to see 3 chameleons in one single morning too! Will definitely recommend this activity :)

We were a lovely group of women who wanted to experience the living creatures of the dunes by foot. We met Kevin the morning at our meeting point, and after a few introductions we made our way into the dunes. His knowledge of the desert & its marvelous creatures are outstanding and the amount of information we took with us after the tour made a long lasting impact. As Kevin explained, the Namib Desert is a very fragile environment, and by choosing the walking tour instead of a driving tour, leaves SO much less impact on the desert. His tours consists of small groups which means more exclusivity. We absolutely LOVED this tour & I cannot recommend it enough. Leave your vehicle, explore by foot. You won't regret it!

Early start with a guide that was so enthusiastic about the dunes and environment, it was foggy which added to the walk, spent nearly 4 hours which when quickly, amazing experience in the dunes from the wildlife I saw to the explanations of the formation of the desert to the geological aspects in the dunes. I can highly recommend this tour, it was a memorable experience, the knowledge and information I learnt in a few hours was brilliant, thank you very much to making my trip so special.

Truly an extraordinary experience! We startet our tour in the morning, so that we could watch the sun rise over the dunes, which was amazing on its own. Then we continued walking through the desert and made a few stops to look for animals. While he looked for them, we had time to take some nice pictures. Although I'm no pro, I would say we really saw a lot of animals! He was super friendly and took his time to answer our questions and explain to us how the desert ecosystem at this specific location works. You could really fell his passion fir the job. If you want an authentic, fun and informative experience go with him!

We had a morning with Kevin of a very special kind. Kevin lives the desert along with it. He shared all his knowledge with us and enchanted us with it, even if we could not see all the animals, although he tried everything until the end and dug a lot. The lizards and snakes had buried themselves deep and there were no fresh tracks. It had rained during the night and early morning, so that not only the people but also the animals were confused. But the 4 chameleons and the horned viper were especially unique for that. We were able to follow and understand the special ecosystem and its formation so well. Many thanks.

We had the Little 5 tour today and were thrilled. Kevin lives the act, you can feel it. Traces of the animals awaken his instincts. We saw FitzSimon's, Namib Dune Gecko, horned viper, chameleons, beetles, and shovel-snouted lizard. A mega experience in a completely unique ecosystem. Kevin can explain this perfectly in German, English, and Afrikaans. Absolute recommendation for everyone.

The tour was just great! Our guide Kevin was able to tell us a lot about the desert, the ecosystem, and the animals. We were also lucky and were able to admire some animals. I would definitely prefer this walking option over a tour by car again, as you can enjoy the peace of the desert and spot the animals much more easily.

Kevin accompanied us through the dunes to spot the sidewinder, the lizards, and the Namibian chameleon. His experience and a bit of luck allowed us to spot all the animals that can be seen in the dunes. I highly recommend this activity to everyone.

It was a great experience to see the small desert animals up close. Learned a lot about the wonderful ecosystem and had a lot of fun experiencing it up close.

A guide with a particular passion for his cause has brought us closer to the Namib Desert ecosystem. Chameleon, geckos and snakes we were allowed to see. And a lot of interesting information was imparted to us. It was fantastic!

The dune tour on foot with Kevin was definitely a highlight of our trip! He explains many interesting processes about life in the desert in both German and English. We have seen many animals, including a chameleon and also a Namibviper. We recommend everyone to explore the desert by foot. It was an experience!

We had a wonderful tour, which our children have declared the “highlight” of our Namibia trip. Kevin vividly explains the cycle of life in the desert, follows tracks and finds the great desert inhabitants like desert chameleon, sand viper, desert gecko and many more. A completely successful experience that brings you closer to the wonders of the desert. Highly recommended!
