Artemis Hotel Swakopmund

We recently spent a few nights at the Artemis as part of a Namibia tour. A lovely hotel with nice rooms and amenities, and well located for walking to many of the local restaurants and shops.

Location is perfect for short walking distance to restaurants / beach / town. Room and bathroom is spacious and comfortable but overall it’s a pretty basic hotel in its design, quality, amenities etc. Service was always warm and welcoming. Absolutely fine for 1-2 nights if you’re looking for a hotel rather than guesthouse and don’t want to spend big on the Strand which is the town’s luxury option.

Artemis Hotel is very well located — close to the coast and only about 500 meters from the Jetty and the well-known Tuc restaurant. The lobby and entrance feel rather cold and lack atmosphere, but the room — spacious enough — was perfectly fine and offered a view of the coast. Breakfast, which is quite basic, is served in the building next door. The hotel does not have its own restaurant, but this is not an issue given its convenient location. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The staff is friendly.

Great location. However, I unfortunately did not have a good experience during the 3-day visit at the Hotel. There was no decent hand soap in the restroom. While having lunch on one of the days, I noticed dirty (clearly used) napkins on the table that was set up for us. Generally, very unhygienic place with little regard for customer health.
