Maritim Hotel Stuttgart

What a lovely hotel, the staff were very friendly too. One of the comfiest beds I have ever slept in, did not want to get up this morning! The pool and sauna being open until 11pm was great after a long day on our feet.

The rooms were small but comfortable. Very clean. Breakfast includes everything from pancakes with syrup, eggs, cold cuts and cheeses, fruit, yogurt,fruit juices, coffee, tea, and fresh pastries and breads. The pool is a bit small and everyone we tried to go was full. There is also a sauna and small gym.

The hotel is in a very convenient central location. It is easy to reach both the city center and the main train station on foot. The rooms are a bit old fashioned, but practical and well organized. I did not need much assistance from the front desk, but both check-in and check-out were smooth and efficient. The only negative point I would mention is the in-room beverage setup. The room had a coffee machine, but no kettle. Also, only four coffee capsules were provided on the first day and they were not replenished during the rest of our stay. I have stayed in many hotels in Germany in a similar category, and tea and coffee supplies were usually refilled daily. Apart from that, the stay was comfortable and the location was very convenient.

Rooms and location were great, no doubt. Service was odd. We were in the annex building, meaning that from reception we had to go down two floors, walk through a tunnel, then back up five. Fine in itself, but at check-in staff handed us two glass bottles to carry to our room. So on top of luggage and backpacks, we were lugging glass bottles ourselves. A first for me in a 4-star hotel. I can’t understand why the bottles aren’t already in the rooms like at every other hotel on the planet. The room also wasn’t spotless: there was leftover trash on one of the lamps. We skipped breakfast at €25 per person. Hotel breakfast is usually pricey, but €50 for two is closer to highway robbery. Spacious room and good location, so we enjoyed our stay overall, quirks aside.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
