We went round the museum, which was quirky and lots of fun. Our kids enjoyed it thoroughly and we found it interesting too. We also did a private tour with Ben, playing William Shakespeare. He was great- really engaging and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend!

This was a little museum which took about 45 minutes for us to get around. It was definitely worth it. Quirky bits, nice and interactive and very spooky! Don’t listen to the bad reviews. People moan about anything. For around £20, the 4 of us had good fun. My girls were nearly ten and nearly 6.
I never leave reviews but we loved this, it was fantastic! For a small museum it really is filled with the brim and we spent quite some time in there with my four year old. Plus as a medieval enthusiast, it was giving me lots of home decor ideas 😂 Lady on the front desk was really lovely too. Will definitely be bringing the kids back in the future.
We did the after dark tour with John, my boyfriend and I really enjoyed it, we were looking for something spooky to do on a Thursday evening and it didn’t disappoint. Good value for money, good tour guide and very atmospheric! Would definitely visit again.
We visited with our 9 year old daughter who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 and uses a powerchair. I had specifically checked the website beforehand because they have a big section about disability and accessibility. We already knew she wouldn’t be able to access everything and that was absolutely fine, we are very used to places not being fully accessible. What I was not prepared for was the attitude of the man working there. He looked at my little girl and her wheelchair like she was some sort of problem and said “you think you’re getting that in here?!” Honestly, I’ll never forget the way he looked at her. She is a 9 year old child. She was in tears afterwards and I was absolutely furious. It wasn’t about the building being old or us expecting them to magically make somewhere accessible. It was simply the way he spoke to and about a disabled child. We complained afterwards and didn’t even receive an apology. I have never left a review like this before and usually just get on with things, but this was genuinely the worst example of ableism we have ever experienced. I probably should have taken it much further, but the reality is we both work and raising a severely disabled child is exhausting enough without having to fight every person who thinks it is acceptable to treat her differently. Absolutely horrible experience and one that has stayed with us enough for me to finally find time to write the review 5 months later!
One of the best museums I've visited. Plenty of activities from dressing up in Tudor costume to writing with a quill to a quiz to see whether you are a witch! Friendly staff who encourage you to touch and play with exhibits, which is a refreshing change. Highly recommended for families or anybody looking to fill an hour or two. And very very good value for money.
Greaat educational experience. The kids loved it. The lady working their was super friendly and helpful.
A value for money experience. We weren't planning on going here, but talking to some other people we decided to give it a go. We are glad we did, only takes around an hour or so, but some good history and fun to be had. Think of it as a small Madame Toussards for the medieval period
I wasn’t sure what to expect as a local, but it was a thing to do on a rainy afternoon. To my surprise it was excellent, lots of interesting factors and little games to play on the way round, interactive exhibits and genuine smellivision. It was also good to learn a bit more about local Tudor times and what Stratford would have been like. Genuinely enjoyed this and absolutely recommend it.
This has got loads of really great reviews but it seems a lot of people had a ghost tour??! For us it was a walk around the place and tbh it was pretty rubbish. There were clothes to dress up in which were smelly and all crumpled up, and the man on the door to pay could well have been a ghost as there was absolutely no life in him! Couldn’t have been any less interested. We even got a 30% discount through tripadvisor but still felt ripped off! Maybe the ghost tour is better, but I wouldn’t recommend just walking around the house. It got a couple of stars as I did learn something new about Henry VIII!
We visited Tudor House as part of holiday to stratford with the family. It was a place we didnt pre booked (which isnt a problem at all), and my partner; who has a few disabilities likes ghosts and scary things haha. So we visited the place, had a browse around the gift shop and then purchased a ticket (manager if you're reading this, thank you truly for helping us out, you made a girl very happy). Ticket price in general is roughly the same as anywhere in Stratford; around the £20 mark. Staff very freindly and understanding. The house itself was small but very interesting, a ton of history and "ghost activity" with a mannequins made up with clothes. I love history and this place was brilliant for that. The walk around the place took around 45 minutes, theirs a few games or quizzes to play which made it more fun for my partner and I. Their was no ques or waiting to go in & so we went at our own pace. Exciting, very interesting & great visit. We'd come back again.
The ticket fees are reasonable, especially when you are likely to do multiple things like this when in Stratford. We originally booked for 11:30 but wanted to change to their opening time at 10:30. When we walked in to ask if we could change it the man was completely unbothered and let us straight in. The museum is unlikely to be suitable for disabilities due to the cobbled Street that leads up to the entrance, and the stairs that need to be climbed. However, the museum is informative and interactive with lots of way to incorporate your senses: touch, taste, smell etc. The gift shop is small yet incorporates lots of different things including your typical pencils, sweets etc. But also some handmade jewellery and wooden items, made by one of the staff. We spent about half an hour in there but you could take longer if you watched all the videos, and took in all of the information boards.
Great place to visit. Lots of activities
Wilfred was a fantastic guide on our Ghost Tour! We very much enjoyed!
This attraction is not worth the ticket price. The museum is not kept to a good standard. It is tired and unloved. The staff were rude and generally uninterested. Save your money it is not worth it.
Overall the museum is tired scruffy and rather dilapidated. I imagine when first set up it was good but it feels like no one has tided it up or fixed damage displayed or dusted in decades. It just felt a bit rubbish to be honest
A old house filled with as you guessed tudor items and history algore. Wonderful for all ages especially for children as some items interactive and plenty of photo ops. Well worth a visit if you enjoy history.
We had some beer before coming but honestly I cried with such fun !! Not a big place and you could add a few more dress up costumes (for larger man lol ) what’s not to like for £8 honestly had such fun maybe it was the beer but we got in the spirit .
Had an amazing day at Tudor world yesterday, had so much fun and learnt more about the history in the local area. Now we are planning another trip.
Lovely interactive museum. You’re encouraged to touch, smell, read and try on outfits and take photos. Historical Information was clear and interesting. You’re given a character at the start and only find out what became of there at the end, nice touch.
My visit to the museum was absolutely spectacular, it wasn't crowded and I looked around until I was satisfied (I took a little over an hour and that's because I was taking so many pictures). It's definitely great value for your money. I learnt a lot of new and interesting things including the art of writing with a quill pen, even took a witch test and turns out... I'm a witch haha. Anyway, it is a quaint little place with a lovely atmosphere and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Stratford-Upon-Avon. I also recommend listening to an 'original composition' song by King Henry VIII on the interactive screen, it was so funny I replayed it like five times. The gift shop is really cool too, it has a lot of unique trinkets and if it was up to me I would have taken one of each but alas I only managed to get myself two mood rings which are absolutely gorgeous to look at. After the trip to the museum I went back two days later for the Ghost tour and it was the best decision ever! The guide was amazing and so engaging it really made the experience a thrilling one. I will definitely do it again the next time I'm in Stratford, so if you have a taste for quirky history lessons on the tudors and tales of ghastly ghouls Tudor World is a must visit!
Wilfred the warden was brilliant, managed to control quite a loud group and stay in character. Good history and jokes, whilst still being scary. Thanks!!
“Like a scary escape room” - N age 7 Really interesting little hidden gem with a fun ‘treasure hunt’ for the young ones and a hidden clue ‘crack the code’ for teens/adults. If I had known about the plague bit and the prison at the end of the stairs, I’d have steered the kids through that without looking as the quack doctor figure, pictures and person in the person were enough to give children (and some adults) nightmares. I rated the experience lower because of this bit. The dressing up was so fun and great to have a go at working with a Quil!
What a lovely little find. Been to Stratford before but with a dog you are limited and this gem is dog friendly too. Shame ours wouldn't climb the stairs (totally safe but dog is old) so we tag teamed the upstairs and no one minded we went the wrong way at times. It isnt the biggest museum but if you interact with everything and read the signs and sniff the smells etc it is very entertaining. Got to dress up and pretend to be royalty. For us it was fab to be out of the heat with the dog but also perfect for a rainy day. Staff were very friendly too. We also booked onto the ghost tour the next night.... review is linked to that but also recommend well the rest of the family do I baby sat the dog.
Visited the Tudor museum whilst staying in Stratford. Booking the candlelight tour wasn’t an option as times limited and clashed with other bookings. Overall a disappointment. This may be better for families than couples pricy for tacky exhibits not what I would call a museum
Excellent experience. Great information all round. Photo opportunities.
The museum is a bit of fun in the Center of Stratford, but the place comes alive with the tales on the ghost tour, overall a great experience, trip back in time and support a local business keeping our history alive.
Myself and my 2 daughters (19 and 15) spent a fun and informative hour or so at this lovely little museum! The single route round meant we didn't miss anything and it wasn't busy so we thoroughly enjoyed taking our time reading all the information boards, trying on the Tudor costumes (even at those ages!) and smelling the authentic smells of Tudor life! We were all declared witches in our trials and had fun trying to copy the style of writing with quills! There was a trail/quiz as you went round for younger children to enjoy. It was a very hands on, interactive museum with plenty of chances to touch, smell etc and photos were couraged. The staff on the door were welcoming and friendly and the well stocked gift shop contained products handcrafted by the staff on site which was a lovely touch. We didn't do the ghost tour as we had to leave but could imagine it was very atmospheric and fun. Would definitely recommend a visit for families of all ages, take the time to experience everything and it's definitely well worth the price
We loved it very informative and enjoyable for any age
Booking Ref. BR-1407112443 We attended Tudor World ghost tour recently, our guide was John. He was friendly knowledgeable, entertaining and funny. We had a very good time and would highly recommend the tour.
Outstanding loved to learn the Tudor way also very interactive to staff are friendly love the ghost talk to
Excellent value for money, lots of activities for the kids. Also attended the ghost tour in the evening and the host was amazing, a very funny but factual event in the evening, would highly recommend 😀
We went with 8 year old grandson . We went straight in and were checked in really quickly . Atmospheric and easy to navigate around . Interactive and not too many people so plenty of time to try on fancy dress clothes , look at each exhibit and read the information . Staff very friendly
Excellent. Really great fun museum, in a very atmospheric building and loads of good stuff for kids and adults to experience. We visited over half term, but it wasn't swamped with people and each room/zone is small enough that others in the building don't distract from your experience. There's plenty of variety throughout, with definite shades of local tourist attractions from the past, which brought a nice bit of nostaligia too. We loved it. Great value. Would definitey recommend.
It was interesting and great exhibition. I would recommend but there are quite a few museums in the area. Staff were lovely.
We did the evening ghost tour it was so fun and our guide was full of information a most do if you are visiting stratford upon avon
Great place to visit. The exhibits were really informative, set in a stunning historical building. Well thought out with plenty of interactive exhibits. Really enjoyable visit and the staff were very passionate about what they do.
Had an appropriate atmosphere (a little gloomy) for the material. We learned some new things. Overall enjoyable. Small crowd. Fun Staff.
What a wonderful little museum. We took our time to read everything and watch most of the videos. Great fun for all ages. Dressing up, writing with a quill, photo opportunities.
My kids loved this, particularly the dressing up. It was interesting for them to see the scenes.
We attended the night time ghost tour with an incredible guide named Alfred the warden. Incredible stories of people who passed away on this site. The tour never faked any ghost sightings, so anything you see or hear will be your experience. If you have no ghost sightings, you’ll still have a great time. Alfred kept the spirits up and was very quick witted. I definitely recommend. I wish there was a card machine to give tips, the guide really makes the experience.
We stumbled upon this one evening in Stratford upon Avon and it looked intriguing so we returned the next day. The museum is well designed to journey through Tudor England - telling stories of witches and the Plague. There's a fun trail and dressing up for kids and the staff are very friendly. You can dash through it but equally if you spend a bit of time reading you'll get more out of the visit.
Really disappointed. £20 for a 10 minute walk around a house. It was so packed that we couldn't actually get close to anything. May suit younger children but was definitely a let down for us.
This museum is not worth the money. We were greeted by a man with his feet up on the desk. He didn’t bother to take them down whilst explaining the tour. The tour took 25 minutes. Everything is very shabby and dated, and not in a Tudor kind of way. We also booked a ghost tour which we did not attend as the ghost tour, the tour guide said it is the same as the self guided tour with candles.
Not suitable for wheelchair users due to stairs Very interesting displays Witch test completed. We are witches! Thoroughly enjoyed it
Fantastic to see inside this beautiful historic building. Exhibits are suitable for all age ranges. Happily no tech gizmos that distract from the feel of the period. There are clothes for children to try on, many photo opportunities and a few films to add information. We loved it. As an extra, see the list of Questions and answers outside the entrance. The sarcastic version is really funny!
Very interesting little museum in the heart of Stratford only 30-40 minutes to complete but worth a look.
My partner and I visited Tudor World today and met not one but two of perhaps the most interesting, intelligent and kind historians who took their time to give us our own impromptu personal tour around the museum! It was refreshing and rewarding to spend time with people who clearly love what they do and love keeping history alive in this modern world. They made our trip one we will remember and we would recommend this museum to everybody.
You could not visit Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace and home of William Shakespeare, the Bard of Avon, without taking in Tudor World. This exhibition gives a far more realistic, and far less romantic, view of what life was really like in Tudor times. There is a lot to see and quite a few interactive things to try here. There are a lot of different exhibits in a fairly small building and credit really must be given to the designers. I am sure Tudor World would be equally attractive to adults and to children who, let's face it, do love a bit of horror and are far less squeamish than we sometimes think. I loved the boxes where you could sample the smells of Tudor England and tried my hand at writing using a feather quill pen. Far more difficult than I had imagined. Overall this really is a great experience and one not to miss.
I took my Grandson for a day out in Stratford-upon-Avon. Very good tour. Good value for money.
