A thoroughly enjoyable visit, when you arrive there's a nice little coffee shop so you can sit and relax with your coffee while the excellent knowledgeable (ours was Dan) tells you the interesting history of gin and rum. We then went into the actual distillery and bottling rooms where Sam took over to explain the process in great detail. We then finished off in the tasting room which was great fun trying different gins and rums and a drink of choice. I thoroughly recommend this tour.

Very very good. Was interesting to learn and see how a distillery works. The two guys doing the talks were great. The tasting was fun and got to taste different gins and mixers.
We enjoyed an informative, light hearted introduction to Shakespeare Distillery at the story of gin and rum.
These guys really know their stuff and they are so enthusiastic about what they do. It’s a fabulous facility and guests are so well looked after. The tour is interesting and the tasting is great, perfect length for an experience and would definitely recommend if you’re in the area and like gin!! Wish the team every continued success with their fab business
Great informative tour, and lots of great gins and rums and it was really good that we got the choice of both in the tastings. I will say the only thing which maybe would have been better was when we had the first talk with the presentation in the cafe area the music was left on and this made it difficult to hear the guy talking, and if someone had a hearing impairment this would have been very difficult for them. Overall the tour and the rums and gins were fantastic!!
A lovely hour spent tasting some of the Shakespeare distilleries gins. A humorous commentator gave us a history of the distillery and some very informative tips on gin and tonic. A great way to enjoy pre dinner drinks and relax. A lovely experience. Distillery gin cruise on the Avon 1 hour.
What a fantastic experience at Shakespeare Distillery. We learned all about the world of gin and rum through a fabulous presentation from Clare, who brought the history and process of distilling to life, before David beautifully explained the craft of blending different flavours and botanicals to create the wonderful tipples we eventually got to enjoy. Then came the important bit, the tasting! Clare taught us how to properly taste and drink each one to get the maximum pleasure from it, and I certainly came away knowing far more about gin and rum than I did when I arrived. If you are ever anywhere near Stratford-upon-Avon, take some time out and visit. It is entertaining, informative and gives you a fascinating insight into the art of distilling. And if you are sitting in a local Stratford pub afterwards, ask for Shakespeare Gin. You won’t be disappointed. But remember one of the most important lessons from the day, you only need a little mixer. Don’t drown the gin! One bottle of mixer can easily do two, possibly even three gins. Not only does the experience teach you how to enjoy a better gin, apparently it can save you money at the bar too! Fabulous people, fascinating knowledge and some rather lovely gin and rum. Highly recommended.
Lovely time attending the distillery tour, particularly enjoyed the first part about the history of gin. The tasting was fun just would have liked a wider choice of gin to sample as came away still wondering what some of them tasted like.
An excellent experience. All staff were really knowledgeable and obviously loved their job and the subject. It was informative, relaxed and welcoming. Everywhere was clean and you weren’t pushed to buy anything. You left feeling they enjoyed sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm with you. I can’t recommend this enough.
Very pleasant trip. Personable guide telling us all about the gins. Would have liked a small table and a cushion on the bench, but other than that very enjoyable.
Interesting introduction about the history of alcohol and gin. Learnt facts that I was not aware of. We gained a better understanding of how it's made and enjoyed the gin tasting. It was a virgin experience bought by family
This was the best experience I have been on for a Gin tour. The cost was so reasonable and great value for money. To cater for children meant that we could do a whole family day. The length of tour was perfect and the size of participants meant that you were not too crowded. It was such a great atmosphere, very informative and the staff was so friendly. Would highly recommend
The staff hosting the tour are fantastic. Both Claire and Sam are knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. Although it’s a small distillery I think we all learnt so much more about Gin and Rum. The tasting was great and how it was done was far more educational than I expected.
Absolutely superb Gin Experience. Both our guides James and Claire were outstanding presenters, full of genuine enthusiasm, a nice touch of humour and very convincing. The gin was pretty good too, particularly 'Stratford Dry'. Some members of our party stayed on to go around again with the next tour which probably says it all. On a different tack, the background to them setting up this now highly successful enterprise in such a competitive environment is fascinating . I am not sure I would have the gumption, but I could learn a lot from here.
Fantastic, from the warm welcome to the fantastic tour and tasting. The team were very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and professional in the delivery of their product. Excellent value for money all round and opened my eyes experiences of a non gin drinker and to rum which I do enjoy. Definitely bought some rum from the shop on site and would recommend a visit here five star. Thank you 😊😊
Really enjoyed this tour. It was bought as a Christmas present for us. We stayed in Stratford for 2 nights, and went over on the Saturday morning for the 11.00 tour. Chris gave us a lovely talk about the history of Gin and how Shakespeare Distillery came into being, Then we were taken to the distillery for a very good explanation from Sam about Gin and Rum distilling and production, including the barrels and the bottling. Next came the tasting room, which was good fun as we were there with other couples and a group of ladies. We learnt a lot about how to mix gin with tonic waters, the ratios and the different flavours of tonic waters with different types of gin. There was a chance to taste rum as well if we wanted to, and then finally a glass of gin and tonic or rum with tonic. I would definitely recommend this tour especially if you are on a weekend away in Stratford.
We enjoyed the distillery tour so much. It is a small distillery so the tour takes place across 4 rooms, however the staff are extremely knowledgeable and present the information in an engaging and entertaining manner. The tasting experience was fab and we learnt a lot, and the gin tastes delicious. We enjoyed having a drink afterwards and the gift shop was really reasonably priced. We will definitely be back again!
Having been to a few tours. This is one of the best we have been to. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. Its a good experience and very enjoyable.
Absolutely fantastic and educational. Sam was great in his delivery of his explanation of the distilling process of both gin and rum. Fascinating. Sarah, I think her name was and apologise if it wasn't, gave us an excellent historical background to gin and then gave us an very good tasting session. I would thoroughly recommend this.
We were given 2 tickets for the distillery and decided use them on our Anniversary....What a great gift. We arrived early enough to purchase a drink to enjoy while Claire told us all about the history of Gin. It was great. She is very enthusiastic and witty. Then on to Gin Lane to learn about the distilling process. This will make you appreciate why cheap gins are cheap and why it's worth having good one. The guy that explained the the distilling and bottling process was very knowledgeable. ( Sorry I can't remember your name I think I might have appreciate my gin too much by then..but you know who you are so thankyou😁) On too the tasting. This was really well thought out and executed. We had a great time and would like to thank all the staff as you are so good at what you do. I would recommend this to anyone that fancies a treat or a gift for a friend. Brilliant experience. Thank you all for making our anniversary special. Deb and Mark from Yardley 🥂
The first drink was excellent. Great ratio of gin to tonic. The following tasters were short in measure both of gin and mixer which was somewhat disappointing.
Really informative tour - included history of gin, an insight to the processes, and of course the beloved tasting session. The gin is clearly high quality - even my non-expert taste got the clarity of the taste - though I confess it was actually a bottle of rum that I went home with...
The best distillery tour I have ever done! The hosts of the tour were super friendly and knowledgeable and really made everyone feel at home. The whole package is really good value for money as you get to taste a lot of gin (or rum) and get to enjoy a full size drink of your favourite as well receiving discount in the shop. The spiced tropical rum is probably going to be my new favourite drink - it is delicious! 100% visiting again for the gin school & may well be my new favourite brand.
Fantastic tour, staff were amazing and really interesting to learn not only about the process for producing gin and rum, but also about the history of gin, also good to see behind the scenes into the packaging process The tasting session was fab, really well explained and great to get some tips on mixers, garnish and even amount of ice ! All the gins and rums we tried were amazing, and you can see how using only the best bit of the 'heart' gives their drinks such a great taste. One other point, we didn't realise that they had barista coffee to enjoy before, great way to start before the tour And they have shop but make point that you're under no obligation to buy....but once you've had a taste of their gins and rums there is no way you'll come away empty handed !!!
Such an informative and interesting afternoon. We are going to book the Gin School later in the year.both the tour and gin tasting was done in a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour - everyone made it lots of fun and certainly enjoyed learning about the gin! The tasting was great too! Would recommend this tour to all.
When you come to Stratford a visit to this amazing distillery is a MUST! I wasn’t sure what to expect but was made really welcome by the family who run the business. It is fascinating and educational. The origins of gin and the art of tasting it in its many forms is truly amazing. I will return and cannot recommend too highly!
Really enjoyable and great being in such an atmospheric setting… the rum was really Good and the host was really friendly and knowledgable and you could see his passion for the distillery
Lovely warm welcome. Learnt so much about the history of gin. The on sampling session was great and we bought some lovely gifts from the gift shop. Would highly recommend this. Would be great for a party of girlies ! Well worth a visit 🍸
The tour was excellent and the fuses were passionate and knowledgeable - I learnt a lot. Generous tasting experience. Their gin is amazing! I would highly recommend a visit!
Tara was fantastic, I have done a few tours but this was by far my favourite. It was very interesting learning about the history of gin, seeing how it all works and learning about the pairing of mixers to enhance the flavours. I loved that it wasn't super busy and felt personal. I highly recommend going for a tour oh and their gin was delicious 😋
The staff Catherine and Sam were very friendly and knowledgeable. They gave us a great tour and explained aspects of the process which we didn't know about. The Gin tasting was fantastic too. A lovely environment and a good price for the whole experience. Thank you!
Really well presented & fun. Great tour guides. Lovely setting, good selection to taste & reasonably priced shop. A fun few hours.
Good value for money, if I was being picky the tasting measures could have been more generous. Interesting tour and clearly very much a family business. There’s an element of their rum business too which is interesting.
Fabulous! A brilliant experience. Catherine and Sam were both excellent hosts and very informative. Definitely recommend a visit and the gin tastings were delicious. Thank you.
The gin tasting experience was informative and so much fun. Would definitely recommend to others who love either gin or rum.
Really enjoyable, informative and engaging tour of the distillery. Myself and my sister really enjoyed it. Just the right level of information, humour etc...would recommend. We bought some gin! Thank you
We really enjoyed our gin experience on Saturday. The team who looked after us were fantastic and the gins and rums we tried were so lovely and it was great to learn what mixers are best with different flavours. Highly reccomend the experience.
Fabulous gin tour on river Avon - comedic banter from our host and gorgeous gins! Highly recommend for friends and family - we were celebrating brothers 60th
This is an excellent activity for anyone spending time in Stratford upon Avon (and that likes gin). Really interesting tour with great knowledge/information shared by the owner/distiller Sam. Booked as a activity my wife would enjoy, as I am not a gin drinker but I just may have been converted, as the tasting at the end of the tour was fantastic and the included G&T went down a treat.
Informative fun tour presented with humour. Staff were very knowledgeable. Great tasting at the end. Highly recommend.
Very interesting even if you're not a gin drinker, we also got the hear the history of Gin and how the local set up works. Ended with a tasting, so very good all round.
I highly recommend this tour if you are visiting Stratford Upon Avon. They tell you all about the process of distilling gin, and then take you to the sampling room to try several kinds of gin which they make. Finally, you get to choose a cocktail before you leave . A very friendly group of people ! Make it a point to visit.
Fabulous experience. Very knowledgeable team who obviously love their products. Learnt loads and had some lovely gins.
What a fantastic team of dedicated gin masters, who not only produce the gin but share their enthusiasm in producing an artisan product. Humour abounds, and the drink portions are not small. Whether you enjoy gin, vodka or rum learning how it is made is only half the story. Well recommended.
Excellent and very enjoyable tour. Guides were so friendly and presentations very informative and funny too. Tastings were superb and lots of choice. Thank you for making our visit one we will remember for a long time to come.
We really enjoyed this 90 minute tour at Shakespeare Distillery. It was interesting and informative and was great to see how passionate this company is with the making of their gins and rum. Katheryn gave us a great insight into gin history and Simon and Jack lead us through the whole process from distilling to bottling. Added bonus was the tasting, again with many hints and tips provided as to mixing and serving. Would highly recommend this tour.
Such an informative tour, we loved learning about how the gin and rum is made and of course trying some of them too. Left with lots of expert advice on best enjoying the gins and rum- and a few bottles we bought in the gift shop.
Loved this tour you get an introduction to gin and it’s origins and then an introduction to the distillery itself and how the Gin is made. The best bit of course is the Gin tasting, what an eye opener and the Gin off course was delicious, the staff were very knowledgeable and would definitely book again. Next is a trip to their shop in the centre of Stratford to buy a bottle or two.
An excellent tour. Headed up by knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff, both when signing in and having the initial gin talk, to the gentleman who ran us through the distilling and bottling process of both their gin and rum. Was interesting to understand the differences between mass produced supermarket regulars and local, smaller production based gins and rums that are of top quality, taste far better and don't give one as much of a hangover, owing to the production process ( mass produced mixes in the heads and tails) whilst Shakespeare do not. Lovely tasting of the gins and rums afterwards. The rum of which is one of a few real UK made rums
