Colmar, Medieval Village & Castle Small Group From Strasbourg

Enjoyed this trip. Guide was very knowledgeable, pickup was easy, day was filled with interesting sites and experiences, well paced. I enjoyed the small group experience. Only thing that I didn’t like was that the tour guide moved at a pretty fast pace, sometimes not paying attention to any group members falling behind. But possibly she was intent on keeping to a schedule.

We traveled on Oct 24th. Really enjoyed the castle and the medieval city. Our guide was very infomative. There was only 4 of us on the tour so that was great.

Our guide was excellent - knowledgeable and kind. She made sure we were following her explanations as well as if the pace was right for us. We thoroughly enjoyed all three visits included in the 8-hour tour. I'd say that was the right number of visits for one day. Beautiful weather (though pretty cold) definitely made our journey extra pleasant.

Great day trip, basically a 9-5pm for a Sunday without traffic. Most stores and shops were open. Even though it was raining, we were able to explore everything - except for the views at the castle. Tour guide Francesco is a great driver and speaker. The tour is at most 8 ppl because that's all that can fit in the van. I wish we got more time in the second town, but overall everything went well and I would recommend. There is not that many stairs at the castle and you can choose not to go up.

the tour was fantastic and that is attributed to our guide, Manon. she was knowledgeable, clearly loves to discuss the history of places and is proud to show off her country. she was patient in allowing all the time needed to explore and answering questions, regardless of absurdity.

A great day from Strasbourg Visiting some delightful villages with great food and wine. A great diver/guide who took the time to share he passion and appreciation for the scenery and customs of the area. A truly grand day!

We enjoyed our tour with Orlane. She drove us 30 mins to Colmar all while talking about his history, culture, and sites along the Alsace wine road - she was very knowledgable and made the ride fun. She had a microphone so everyone could hear her well and the van had great A/C. we then did a lunch stop in Riquewihr and then finished w Orlane's guided tour of the the Chateau/castle that we enjoyed. It was a great way to see a lot of the region conveniently.

Too rushed, lunch should be in Colmar, disn’t even get to walk around the other small town, where we were to eat lunch

Villages in Alsace are gorgeous and the castle is breathtaking. Our guide Jérôme (a local Alsatian) was kind, knowledgeable and shared the love for his home. I enjoyed the small, intimate tour size. Was able to chat with fellow guests and had a lovely time. I made sure to thank Jérôme for ensuring we had perfect weather on our tour date. It is a must when you visit Strasbourg!

We had a great time with our fault on day trip to Colmar and H-K castle. Our tour guide Francesco was very informative and engaging through our the day. The trip was a blast for all of our family members from age 5 to 70.

This is an excellent day trip (about 8 hours). It is active, and seeing the mountain castle at the end is quite strenuous, but very rewarding.

Enjoyed guide. Would have preferred more free time and lunch in Colmar and just walk around to see Beauty and Beast town. Castle was closed due to heat so cannot comment.

This was a fantastic tour! Our guide, Violette, was wonderful - very kind, thoughtful and knowledgeable about what we were seeing. The Alsace region is beautiful and utterly charming and has been a highlight of my trip thus far. I would highly recommend.

The small group was very nice. I would have liked free time Colmar. No free time to wonder through the shops. Our guide Lea was great and spoke good English

A great small group tour of Colmar, Riquewihr village and Haut Koenigsbourg Castle. It was at the perfect pace and made for a nice relaxing tour. Our guide Leia was terrific. She was an excellent driver and tour guide. She was very knowledgeable, able to answer many queries including the wines of the region.

Its a nice visit for highlights. 2 significant villages and a castle! it provides a nice balance to a Strasbourg visit.

Since moving to Strasbourg, this trip was high on my list. Colmar is even more picturesque in person – 'Little Venice' is a dream! We also visited Eguisheim and Riquewihr, which felt like stepping into a movie set. The tour was well-paced, though the stairs at the Haut-Koenigsbourg castle can be a bit of a workout (tip: wear comfy shoes!). Our guide was lovely and the small group made it easy to ask questions. The only 'OK' part was the lunch break – it felt a bit rushed, so maybe grab a quick snack to have more time for exploring. Still, 10/10 experience! This trip is best for solo travelers or couples who appreciate a well-organized, small-group atmosphere. Keep in mind that the admission fee for the Haut-Koenigsbourg castle (around 12€) wasn't included in the tour price, so have some extra cash or your card ready.

All around fantastic tour of Alsace. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable and he adapted the timeline of the tour based on the weather of the day. The places visited are a must see of the region. I would highly recommend this tour.

This trip was well worth every penny. Laurent was our guide for the day and he was knowledgeable, engaging and made us feel like he truly loved his job. Each stop was unique and gave you plenty of time to explore. My personal favorite was the medieval castle at the end of the tour. What a fantastic surprise! Laurent took us room to room, section to section and just let the knowledge flow. I was a little uneasy about booking as it says "all sales are final," but I thought it was well worth it and wouldn't have missed it! Definitely a must do as it is an efficient way to see some of the surrounding areas and you get to learn along the way.

We paid a good amount for this tour just for the guide to drop us off at the different towns and let us walk around for a couple of hours. She talked on the long drive and then dropped us at the towns for us to walk around ourselves. I expected more of a guided experience where we could learn about the sites around the town. We had our own car and could have saved a lot of money driving ourselves.

Excellent all day tour! Camille was a fabulous guide. She drove us and taught us all day. She was fun and full of facts. It was cold as it was December so dress accordingly. We were there to see these great towns and visit the Christmas markets. Fun day!

You get to experience the fantastic beauty of small Alsatian villages like Colmar and Riquewihr. The castle tour gives you a different focus, unlike other castle tours: The why and how the castle was rebuilt for the people’s enjoyment Our guide, Dolce, dictated the pace of the tour well, as there was a lot being covered.

The town of Colmar and the villages are beautiful at Christmas time, and the castle is awesome. I would recommend the tour.

All our stops were amazing we experienced more than we ever expected. Our tour guide was cheerful and very well versed explaining to us what we were experiencing.

Mixed feelings about this tour. The tour guide was nice and the van was clean however, they advertised the tour covering specific villages and eliminated Eguisheim, without telling anyone in advance and this was not a "last minute" change...they simply don't go there (at least during December) despite the advertisement that they do. Very little information provided during the trip on the places being visited (with the exception of the castle)...they drop you off and pick you up at each town...that is it.

This is one of the best tours we've ever been on. Over the course of nine hours and four locations our guide Oliver ran the show perfectly and provided commentary with tons of historical information and wit. We would recommend this to anyone without hesitation.

Great tour but what Viator advertises and the actual operator has planned was different. Luckily our guide honored what the description said. Our guide Leah was fantastic and highly recommend her and the tour.

Overall this tour delivered on its advertised itinerary and the small group size of eight was accurate. However, eight people felt too many for the sprinter van, which made the ride quite hot and uncomfortable throughout the day. Colmar and the surrounding villages were undeniably beautiful, but visiting during the Christmas market season meant the crowds were extremely heavy. I expected it to be busy, but the volume of people made it difficult to enjoy the experience. This is not the tour companys fault, but travelers should be aware of what to expect if visiting in December. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, though she only accompanied the group during the castle visit and not at the other stops. While this may be the tour format, it would have been helpful to have guidance at each location. Overall the itinerary is lovely, but I would recommend this tour outside the Christmas market period or with a smaller group for a more comfortable experience. One additional note: remember to bring euros to tip your guide. On my tour only a few participants tipped, which was disappointing given the guides effort and professionalism.

It was a great tour. Our driver/guide, Laetitia, was wonderful. Full of information, fun, friendly, with a very good command of English.

This was a wonderful experience visiting beautiful medieval villages during the Christmas season. Colmar and Riquewihr were a feast to the eyes with its picturesque sights and festive atmosphere. Lea was a wonderful guide, she delivered a great service and made everyone engaged and comfortable. However I am very disappointed that we did not visit Eguisheim as promised by the tour description, I was looking forward to seeing this place as I heard it’s equally charming as Riquewihr. Viator (or perhaps the tour company) has done it again failing to deliver a full tour as this also happened to us in a tour in Halstatt three months ago. I’ve been booking Viator for 13 years now but sometimes get let down.

Our tour with Pauline was wonderful. We got really lucky with both the weather and our guide. She was so knowledgeable and friendly, and she took us through the most scenic routes between each stop. We got to see the most charming towns, and we even made it to the castle just in time for a beautiful sunset. Highly recommend!

What a wonderful day! We had the amazing Pauline as our guide/driver. She was super friendly, very knowledgeable and a great driver, navigating all the narrow roads with ease. Colmar was definitely my favourite stop, however the castle was impressive and we were lucky to have clear views as the sun was beginning to set. Highly recommend this tour. This was a great experience overall. A full day seeing Colmar, beautiful small villages and the castle. We are grateful to our tour guide who was a good and careful driver, a competent tour guide and a friendly person. We enjoyed this tour thanks to the valuable information and tips he provided about the places we have been to. I think getting to those places without a car is tricky and hearing the history and the stories behind the places as you are there is gives a complete understanding and experience. The exchange with the agency was also very professional, the information they provided throughout the process was extensive. We are very happy that we chose this tour and recommend to anyone who would like to see more of the beautiful Alsace region.

A full day going to places you would not do on your own. Very convenient. Jerome (our guide) was excellent, a good driver and moved along at a nice pace with lots of information.

Our day was great. Every detail was taken care of. Our guide was amazing. We got to understand the history with fun stories and we got a little alone time to wander & shop. The castle was super interesting and a great way to end the day!

Immersive and eye-opening. Alsatian history lesson well received. I am of French ancestry, wife of German. Brought us closer. The shared food experience, the signs in both languages were most special! Also, the Bartholomi Statue of Liberty creator is rich in history here with the original!
