This tour is so interesting. For anyone who loves anything to do with Vikings, this is the tour for you. Urban our tour guide is full of knowledge and he has a great personality too. Sigtuna is beautiful and Uppsala is very interesting with viking mounds. I would highly recommend this tour.

JARLABANKES BRO - VIKING CAUSEWAY BRIDGE Jarlabanke's Bridge is an ancient Viking Age bridge named after the Viking chieftain Jarlabanke, who ordered its construction. The bridge is situated in the present-day Täby just north of Stockholm and is a remarkable historical site that dates back to the 11th century, making it one of the oldest known bridges in Sweden. Runestones by the site have inscriptions that mention Jarlabanke and his family, providing valuable information about the history of the area. The inscriptions reveal that Jarlabanke built the bridge in memory of himself and as a statement of his power. Learn about this powerful lord and his family from your tour guide's engaging presentation.
ARKILS TINGSTAD - A VIKING PARLIAMENT Arkils tingstad, also known as Arkils Assembly Site, is an ancient Viking Age site located in Vallentuna north of Stockholm. It served as a significant gathering place where local communities convened to resolve disputes, make decisions, and enact laws during the Viking Age. The site consists of stones arranged in a square pattern, which might have served as seating for attendees. Arkils tingstad is an important archaeological site, shedding light on the legal and administrative systems of the Viking era and showcasing the political processes of governance in early Scandinavian society. The guide will delve in to this and other topics at the location.

This area is not only a natural haven but also holds historical significance, with archaeological sites and remnants reflecting centuries of human habitation dotted around the lakeside. You will go down to the banks of the lake at the tour stop Arkils tingstad.
GRANBY AND THE GRANBY RUNE STONE IN ORKESTA The Granbyhällen, also known as the Granby Stone, is an ancient runestone that contains one of the longest and most informative Swedish texts from the Viking Age. It tells us about the Viking family members of Granby and might have been intended as an inheritance document. At Granby, we also have some of the best-preserved Viking house foundations in the world. You will step into the walls of the longhouse were the Viking family resided a thousand years ago and learn about the everyday life of the Vikings.
"Hökeriet" translates to "grocery store" or "provision shop." These are typically small shops that sell various food items and household goods. One of these shops is located by the Granby farm (one of the tour stops). Here you can will have a Swedish fika (available on most but not all tours) in a cosy farmhouse being served by the co-owner of the farm or one of her relatives/friends. You can also shop regional handcrafts and Viking-related souvenirs.

UPPSALA CATHEDRAL Uppsala Cathedral, known as Uppsala Domkyrka, is a magnificent testament to Scandinavian Gothic architecture and spiritual significance. Its soaring spires, intricate stained glass, and vaulted interiors are awe-inspiring, reflecting the artistry of medieval times. Adjacent, the Uppsala Cathedral Museum and Treasury offer a deeper dive into its history. Visitors can climb the bell tower for panoramic views, making a trip here a captivating blend of spirituality, history, and architectural wonder in the heart of Uppsala.

Traditionally linked to legendary Swedish kings, each mound is named after a monarch, including King Aun, King Egil and King Adils. These mounds symbolize Swedish kingship and have historical and cultural significance, drawing tourists from around the world and providing insights into Sweden's pre-historic heritage.

While the driver was very knowledgeable, there were many issues with this experience. First off, it was rather warm by Stockholm standards and the AC on the bus wasn’t working well. There was more time spent on the bus (the whole experience was over 10 hours! About 4 hours too many for what this was) than we anticipated and some of the stops were repetitive in information. The stop at the farm house for the Fika (coffee and pastry) was great and the host there was sweet. Our driver was a little difficult to understand at times. We really had to concentrate on listening to grasp what was being said especially wearing the headsets that were supplied. Stop in Sigtuna was nice. The stop in Uppsala was less about Vikings and mostly about the cathedral. In fact, the Viking part of the tour was minimal at best and it ended up more a history of the Norwegian, Swedish and Danish monarchies, which was interesting for sure, but not what we were expecting.
Appreciated taby church frescoes etc. then sigtuna and uppsala and then country rune stones. Knowledgeable guide.
Very informative and interesting, lots of stops along the way. Excellent suggestion for lunch in Sigtuna.
We had Urban as our tour guide. He was friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about Viking history and the areas surrounding Stockholm, Sigtuna and Uppsala. His mini van bus was very comfortable and the tour moved at a good pace. Our stop to have some tea and Fika at a local charming farmstead was delightful. He made it extremely easy by picking me up and dropping me off at my hotel. I would highly recommend taking his tour!
Solid trip; Urban was a good guide. This trip focuses very deeply on the Viking history; that is good if that is your focus but it became a bit monotonous. Could use a bit more free time at stops to explore. Lunch stop in Sigtuna was wonderful.
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable but talked for 8 hours straight in excruciating detail about 400 years of Viking history. It would have been so much more impactful and interesting if he had curated the information into more manageable bites.
Loved Olof. He was knowledgeable, thoughtful, funny - everything one could hope for. Viator tours like this are such a great way to see a ton in a short period of time for a reasonable price.
This bus tour is the best way yo see the towns of Sigtuna and Uppsala along with their history. The drive thru the countryside is beautiful!
Guide was right on time to pick us up at the hotel. He was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. It would have been more pleasant if he had turned on some heat in the van. It was 50-55 degrees throughout the cloudy day with some cold wind so a warm van would have made it more comfortable. Overall a good experience otherwise.
Great tour. Very knowledgeable and personable guide. Highly recommend to anyone interested in this history.
We really enjoyed the tour, transportation and guide. Enjoyed seeing different parts of Sweden and hearing the viking stories. Guide was interesting and cared for all guests well. Get of the City and see the sites!
Wonderful history and knowledgeable guide. There was a lot of driving and after seeing so many run stones, the shine lost its luster. We saw some wonderful buildings, churches and learned a lot of history. It was a good tour although the driving combined with difficulty understanding the guide took a bit out of the experience.
Urban was great! He had so much knowledge to share and was very happy to answer all questions. The trip was great. Exactly as described
Tons of standing, lots of outside activity (meaning, dress appropriately with rain gear and comfortable shoes), and probably 2x as much detail as needed. Tour felt far too long. It's virtually ALL about Vikings with too little time in Upsala.
Excellent tour. Our guide Urban was fantastic. I don’t think there is anything he doesn’t know. Was a very cold day so could maybe have cut the storytelling outside a little short. Wish I had visited the Viking museum either before or after but it is such a full day there isn’t time
Urban was a great guide. We had a cold and windy day, but he did his best to keep us warm without missing any of the sites. He gave us insightful history that helped us connect to the people that built the rune stones. I appreciated the diligent manner in which he conducted the tour. We did have a fika break and lunch is Sigtuna. The Uppsala old church and newer Cathedral were both amazing.
Super interesting tour of important Viking and early Christian sites. We had a beautiful sunny day which made this tour especially nice. So many rune stones all over the place! We loved walking through a cow pasture to see a really big one and where an ancient long house was located. It was a great place to stop for “Fika”. Urban our guide was very knowledgeable and did a great job getting us everywhere.
My wife, 2.5 year old daughter and I (had to pay for 3 adults) were guided on a private Viking history tour through the Swedish countryside with Urban. We were thoroughly impressed with Urban's knowledge, expertise and energy. Highly recommend!
Nice tour, and very interesting to see rune stones and burial mounds. Guide/driver Arvin was extremely knowledgeable. Cathedral in Uppsala also very interesting. Quite a long day. Picked up at 9:00 AM, delivered back to hotel 19:30. Would like to have spent more time at mounds, less in minor churches.
We loved this trip. Our guide Urban was amazing. He was extremely knowledgeable, entertaining, great sense of humor, fun story teller and just all around the perfect guide for us. We loved seeing the runes and churches and we enjoyed the coffee stops and lunch break. The day was over before we knew it.
The guide was very knowledgeable. Although maybe don't test the lack of knowledge of those touring. So more condensed short bursts of info. Also would have been good to have a water tank available. Hot day.
This was our first tour with Viator it was an amazing I uploaded just on of hundreds of pictures every site we traveled to was better that the last. Our tour guide Urban was great very informative he went beyond the call of duty to inform us and make us understand the sites we saw. I would absoloutly record this tour to all...:):)
Lot of churches & ruin stones. Our guide took too long at places to the point another group past us up
This was an ideal tour for an insight into history that made the best use of time. Urban was a knowledgeable guide and made for an enjoyable day.
Well organized tour that gives a memorable exposure to the Viking and the Christian eras. The coffee break was a very nice touch. But the best element was our guide, Arvin or Erwin (I am spelling it wrong). He is very knowledgeable, considerate and spirited and made this tour extra enjoyable.
We had a great time travelling outside of Stockholm and learning about the history of the Viking ruins and distant history of Sweden. Our guide was very knowledgeable and showed us a lot of very interesting sites and areas of the countryside.
Our tourist guide and driver at the same time was so knowledgeable. He answered everything we asked him. He was on time to pick me up and my husband from our hotel.
Our small group trip from Stockholm was led by our driver/ tour manager Urban, who provided a very informative and interesting commentary on the various Viking and other sites we visited during the day, particular highlights of which were the small picturesque historic town of Sigtuna and old Uppsala. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and feel we learnt a lot about the Viking Age in Scandinavia and would highly recommend this trip to others.
Excellent tour! Ver knowledgeable and well run. Just the right amount of time in each town, area or Rune site. We really liked the organization of the tour. Van was comfy. We stopped for a coffee and rhubarb tart at an old and very nice and big dairy farm. Very nice company too! Loved Sigtuna and Uppsala.
A full day trip giving a great overview of Swedish Viking history with multiple stops over 9 hours. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. My only comment was they take up to 16 passengers and the van can really only accommodate 15 comfortably. We were the last pick up and were very cramped in the last row with another couple. Overall though a very nice day.
This was a great day trip out of Stockholm, getting to view the Swedish countryside, Viking runes in various places, a number of churches, the town of Sigtuna and the city of Uppsala. Angus was a terrific guide--very knowledgeable and witty. He was also sensitive to the needs of those on our tour (13), including dietary needs when we lunched and ample restroom breaks.
We had a fun day on the Viking tour. The guide was very knowledgeable so we learned a lot of new things but she also kept it light and fun. When the only kid in the group asked for more stories about gnomes and trolls, she happily obliged with stories that were fun for everyone on the bus. I definitely recommend this tour.
I think this tour comes down to your guide. The destinations are good but our guide spent far too much time talking at each site. If you like runestones and churches they are definitely covered on this tour.
The day was a bit long but guide was very accommodating about bathroom breaks, and other breaks for food and what not. Guide was very knowledgeable about Viking and Swedish history as well as history in general.
Urban was a very good guide, he was knowledgeable and friendly and did a very fine job of explaining the history, in details. Highly recommended!
This tour is all about looking at 17 rocks, and 13 churches. You really don't get much "vicking" experience. The whole group was annoyed after about the 4th rock and we could barely understand the tour guide. I didn't even wear my headset because I could not understand him. Furthermore, the tour is 9 hours long and the van did not have charge ports to charge our phones. This is how we take pictures. I would not recommend this tour, for the price.
Our guide Urban was very knowledgeable . It was a wonderful experience seeing the ruins and old cathedrals. Highly recommended.
Fantastic day out of the city with Urban. He knows so much about Swedish, Viking, and world history, and he teaches you all about it in an engaging way. The in ear devices worked perfectly and were an upgrade to many group tours Ive been on previously. I do wish we had more time in Sigtuna since that is also the lunch stop, but realistically I understand that that'd either take the tour over 9 hours or cut something else out. Truly just inspiration for an additional trip! Highly recommend if you have an interest in history and want to get out of the city for a day! Just be prepared for a long day, bring water, good shoes, and a charged phone.
The tour was a no show. I indicated the hotel I was staying at for pick up, which was in the list of options. I received a confirmation for pickup at my hotel. The tour guide never showed. If the location for pick up was changed, I should have been phoned. Viator provides no phone number or email to register a complaint for a refund. No recourse.
This was a wonderful day! Angus picked us up at our hotel, very friendly on time. Transportation was very nice and comfortable headsets so we could hear while he was narrating and giving information while he was taking us place to place. We learned so much about Swedish history, Viking history in a very fun and interactive way. Many special touches along the way. Don’t miss out on this experience in Sweden.
Urban was very knowledgeable about Swedish & Viking History. I highly recommend this trip followed up by a trip to the Viking Museum.
This was a great trip! It was fascinating to get out of the city to see some of the Swedish countryside and to learn about Viking history. The best part of the tour was our guide, Carl. He was extremely informative and has a great sense of humor - Dad jokes aside 🤣 I encourage anyone interested in Viking history to take this tour.
We enjoyed the tour around the old ruins even though the weather wasn't on our side. We enjoyed learning about the significance if ruins and burial sites to the vikings
It guided was great and knew a lot about Viking and Swedish history. I really enjoyed this tour and highly recommend it.
Calle was a great guide and historian. Seeing the scenic countryside of Sweden was a highlight of our trip to Stockholm. The Viking history and sights were exciting for us Viking lovers. The introduction to Uppsala has us wanting more and wished we could have spent more time there than we did. Going this time of year not much was open in Sigtuna so wish more time would have been spent in Uppsala. Other than time being our issue, Calle really made the tour fun, informative and engaging.
Urban is super knowledgeable..he was very patient and very nice. We really enjoyed the tour. Thank you
The tour was awesome! Angus was able to accommodate and pick me up from my hotel in Solna. Although he was not the tour guide, he provided us with great info. The tour took us to every place listed. The female tour guide was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. This is a definite for those who have some knowledge of the Vikings. Highly recommend going to the Viking museum first, watching the first few episodes of the Vikings to better prepare for this once in a lifetime tour!
The Viking Tour was excellent!! Learned so much about the history of Sweden. Our guide, Gabriel, was phenomenal! Very knowledgeable, attentive and with a great sense of humor. Highly recommend!
Very interesting tour with a lot of information from the swedish history. The tour guides were amazing.
