Weather was great, I loved the boat, tour guide was great, i highly recommend. Guide shared important history, interesting things on the islands. 11 out of 10.
First time visiting Stockholm, wanted to hit all the regular tourist spots. Can hand on heart say this was the highlight of the trip. I booked the 2.5hour trip for my family, our guide Patrick had a wonderful sense of humour and provided informative facts throughout the journey. The boat was beautiful and the on-board cafe had a wide selection of snacks and drinks. I thoroughly recommend this company!
We booked the archipelago tour with lunch. What a treat the tour guide was informative and we had an indoor table with views on both sides. The food was extremely delicious!
Well worthwhile. Great experience. Worth the cost. The ship was clean and great. The host was experienced
The rain and cold were certainly disappointing, bot Capt Mira kept things lively and as we cruised from Stockholm. She shared may interesting facts and some history of life then and now in the archepalego. The boat amenities and snack bar offerings were just right.
Okish experience. Boat was good, guide gave lots of information Fika good
Hop on - Hop Off. A very good way to get into town from the cruise port - and, a way of getting around town. While booking ahead for the ABBA Museum is essential, you can just walk in to the Vasa Museum on the same island - and for me the Vasa was the amazing part of my visit (Definitely a MUST SEE if Stockholm is on your bucket list). Although, if you choose the Bus and Boat version of travel, the boat section was a bit disorganised regards finding where to get on. And don't forget to walk round the Old Town of Gamla Stan with its narrow streets and quirky shops.
Fantastic tour guide! Lots of fun, good food, bathrooms available. Can go inside or outside. Good choice.
The tour was good, very crowded in the boat some people were not able to find a place to sit. It was nice to see the views from the boat. Thank you
Very disappointing experience. I paid 790 SEK for an archipelago cruise and arrived at the departure area on time. I asked a member of staff where to wait and followed his directions. Several other passengers were also sent to the same place. We waited there, but the boat departed from elsewhere and we all missed it. I contacted customer service, explained exactly what happened, but they refused to take responsibility and later didn’t even properly address my complaint. I lost 790 SEK because I followed their employee’s instructions. Very poor organisation and customer service.
It was overcast and started to rain so not an ideal situation to be on the boat. However I really enjoyed seeing the beautiful homes on the islands. With the provided blanket I was able to sit outside and still be protected by the overhang.
Interesting commentary and lovely boat. Well worth the money. Good value.
2.5hr tour had a funny and informative guide - gunnar. Snacks and drinks were also good and not any more expensive than the rest of stockholm's downtown area. The 2.5hr trip gets you away from the city to see the scenary and nature, I wouldnt reccomend the 1.5hr option as you wouldnt get that same experience.
Good clear English narration and kind courteous crew. Interesting history of Stockholm and views of current conditions and housing. Snack bar aboard.
Fabulous experience. Wonderful scenery and commentary.
Informative, easy-calm experience, and since it was raining we kept dry inside the cabin looking out the windows.
I’m extremely disappointed with my experience with Strömma. I went to the Strömma ticket kiosk and specifically asked for the Stockholm Highlights tour. Instead, I was issued a ticket for the three-hour “Archipelago Tour with Guide.” I did not realise at the time that I had been given a completely different tour from the one I had requested. My ticket clearly confirms that I was issued the Archipelago Tour, departing at 15:00. Unfortunately, the tour I was mistakenly put on was also extremely disappointing. The biggest problem was the timing of the commentary. The guide repeatedly described landmarks and points of interest long before we were actually able to see them — sometimes around ten minutes beforehand. By the time the relevant sight came into view, he had long since moved on to something else. It made it incredibly difficult to connect what we were being told with what we were actually looking at, which rather defeats the purpose of having a live sightseeing guide. Eventually, I approached the guide and politely explained the problem: he was describing things considerably earlier than passengers were able to see them. His response was: “That’s why you have a map.” This was particularly unhelpful because none of the passengers sitting around me even seemed to know that there was a map. It had certainly never been pointed out or explained to us. More importantly, passengers on a guided sightseeing cruise should not have to spend the journey studying a map and trying to work out which landmark the guide was referring to several minutes earlier. Surely the purpose of live commentary is to explain what passengers are seeing at approximately the time they can actually see it. Unfortunately, the delivery of the commentary was also extremely monotonous. Combined with the poor timing, it made what should have been an enjoyable three-hour cruise through a beautiful part of Stockholm feel very long indeed. Some passengers even fell asleep. The Stockholm archipelago itself is beautiful, and the scenery obviously isn’t the problem. The experience was let down by the quality and timing of the commentary and, most importantly, by the fact that this wasn’t even the tour I had asked to take in the first place. I had specifically planned my day around taking the Stockholm Highlights tour. Being issued a ticket for a different three-hour tour meant I not only missed the experience I had requested, but also lost a significant portion of my final sightseeing time in Stockholm. When a customer specifically asks for a particular tour at the company’s own ticket kiosk, I think it is reasonable to expect to be issued a ticket for that tour — or, at the very least, to be clearly told if they are being offered something different. Sadly, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this tour or the service I received from Strömma. 1/5.
We had great weather for our cruise, which helped make it an enjoyable experience. It covers a lot of ground through the archipelago to Vaxholm. It’s worth working our beforehand whether you just want to cruise or want to stop on Vaxholm for a couple of hour as they may not have space on the relevant sailings during peak season if you change your mind on the boat. It would have been Ok for us in early September. Our guide Madeleine was fantastic. It’s a real skill to be funny and entertaining in a second language. Her commentary was full of humorous asides and made for a very entertaining trip.
This is a MUST-DO activity while in Stockholm!! We did it on Day 1 of our six-day visit to the city. Tay was a very good tour guide, explaining sights in detail; we would never have guessed what purpose the structures served otherwise! The food was delicious and great value for money, the boat was sturdy and we didn't feel seasick, and the water was just so pristine so we took plenty of photographs. I'd also advise bringing binoculars.
A pleasant, leisurely cruise with a charming, local guide with an excellent knowledge of the area and of Swedish culture as a whole.. it was interactive, with a fun quiz at the end - we loved it!
Can be breezy so take a jacket. Excellent commentary and a relaxing way to explore the many islands of Stockholm Archipelago.
We had difficulty finding the correct place to be due to the single sign being quite small and posted so low it was blocked by people standing on the pier. So, despite being there an hour before departure we were about last in line… but that worked out for us as we then were able to set up folding chairs and sit at the front of the boat on the boarding deck. It was a beautiful cruise and weather was conducive to sitting outside.
Find a better operator. Boat packed so no seats. Rubbish experience.
It was great to get out and see some of the inner archipelago. The guide's sense of humour was slimly surreal, which I quite enjoyed but went way over my kids' heads. Pick up and drop off was all very friendly and efficient and the boat itself was lovely.
Patrick was a great guide! The weather was great and we were very comfortable.
We had a great few hours on this archipelego cruise. Saw lots of great scenery and it was a very relaxing trip.
Really nice cruise, it takes you through the entire archipelago that is near to Stockholm all the way to Vaxholm. The guide Patrick is engaging and really funny. He will make you laugh all throughout. Not much of a food selection on board, but a complete beverage selection. Does not feel stretched. If you come in the summer and don't like the direct sun, please book the 5 PM cruise for 2.5h like we did, it helps to have a jacket for the winds.
Good service of the staff. The boat was nice and clean. Tour guide Eric was very good in explaining of the different islands
Excellent cruise with a very informative guide! Sitting at the front of the boat was the best place to see but it was very difficult to hear.
Nice tour. Only 1.5 hours. Commentary in English. We only had 8 people on board, so it made it very comfortable.
This was a pleasant, picturesque, relaxing trip on a very hot day (29C). If you want to choose where to sit, study the ship’s layout in advance then get there 20 minutes before departure. The ship was very busy on departure. You can do a stop at Vaxholm and come back on the later ship if you specifically book that. The return leg from Vaxholm was not so busy. The crew were very pleasant and helpful.
We made two trips, one evening cruise with dinner (no guiding but a good broschure), one day trip (with a guide) to Gustavsberg. The evening one was the best, because of the food and a larger boat, but the second one was good too, and I would like to repeat both.
A wonderful evening in late 1800’s boat! Great commentary. We really enjoyed it. The only problem is that they gave an address that was not exactly where the boat was. Some of the people on the boat had a dinner ticket, but most of the people did not. We walked up and the people that we asked, had dinner tickets and so we thought we were at the wrong place. Via Tours gave a street address that was across the street. It caused us a problem for almost an hour, and there were a lot of other people there that did not know which boat (of many) to get. Nobody came out from the boat until it was time to board so there was no one to ask. When you click on the address that Viator gave it took you across the 4 Lane highway to a house and was not close to the boats.
We sat at a table enjoying a cocktail, listening to the well delivered tour guides info looking out at the beauty of Stockholm from the water. The ferry is meant to get you to Artipelog, but the boat rides to and from the island are the highlight of the trip. We did not book a meal during our journey but the food looked weak prepared and the guests were pleased with their food. An excellent value experience.
Very interesting tour. We also had the meal which was very tasty both the fish and vegetarian dishes. We also had two other interesting people on our table who we got along well with. The commentary was very useful and the view of the Islands and Archipeligo were great. Very much recommend it particularly as we had never been to Stockholm before. Just one point, we found it difficult to find out the exact location of the departure point. You can find it at Strandvägen berth area no 15 which is just by the Hotel Esplanade on Standvagen. Also, if it is hot, bring a brolley as it can be very hot (or wet) while you wait in the queue as they only allow you on about 10-15 minutes beforehand!
Matilda was an amazing tour guide. I learnt so much about Stockholm that I didn't know even after living there for seven years!
What a beautiful ship and scenery. The Archipelago was beautiful. The guide was very informative, but tended to speak of mainly the right side sites. When you get on I suggest that you speak with the guide to see which side of the ship to sit on.
Awesome tour, well worth it! Thank you Siqi for explaining everything and helping us out, we won't forget it!
Really great tour guide with wonderful information. Very nice boat and staff. Beautiful scenery and easy to see from anywhere on the boat.
Very nice cruise of the Stockholm archipelago with narration. Narration a bit hard to hear when up in the bow and moving, but still a great value.
We opted for the 2.5hr tour which was delightful - we got to see and hear about so many of the islands and the monuments on the trip. Has a lovely little bar which offers coffee tea and beer, as well as a restaurant (we didn’t go there but can confirm the coffee and cinnamon buns are super tasty!) :) Well worth the money!
The Guide was really excellent! Nice information provided with entertaining outcome 😊 The cruise gave a good overview of lifestyles and history of Stockholm archipelago.
Really great value and a terrific way to see the archipelago of Stockholm. The boat was charming and comfortable, with a great guide.
A very enjoyable ride and tour. The guide was excellent and the boat was comfortable enough, especially having been built in 1906! We loved it. Did not know what the archipelago was, but learned a great deal and enjoyed the sights. Well worth it!
We had a disappointing experience with Stromma during our visit to Stockholm. We arrived at the Östanå I boat before departure and boarded at around 1:20 PM, assuming that boarding had already started. Unfortunately, there were no clear signs, barriers, or staff instructions indicating that passengers should wait outside while the crew was on their meal break. Instead of politely explaining the situation, a staff member repeatedly told us “quarter to two, quarter to two” and asked us to leave the boat in a manner that felt unfriendly and unwelcoming. We completely respect staff break times and operational procedures, but better communication and a more customer-oriented attitude would have made a significant difference. As tourists, we expected a more organized and welcoming experience from a well-known company such as Stromma. This misunderstanding could easily have been avoided with proper signage and clearer boarding instructions. The boat tour itself was enjoyable, but the boarding experience left a negative impression. I hope Stromma improves both its boarding organization and customer service approach for future visitors.
Big old boat, downstairs enclosed, upstairs open air and shaded. Get in line early if you want to be outside. Narration of the trip was great. Relaxing trip, if that is what you want
Seating does not give you a view of both sides so you miss a lot Could be clearer on they were describing
They sell way more tickets than there are good seats so that there are many people with poor views or forced to sit inside with no view of the archipelago at all. This is not the best boat for tours and the speakers are not great so it was difficult to hear the guide
I would highly recommend this 2.5 hour tour if you have the time and want to see Stockholm and the outer islands. The boat was spacious, well maintained and had ample places to seat or stand, if you wanted to get outside to take photos. They also served food and beverages for those who wanted to buy them. I can imagine during the high tourist season that the boat really fills up and probably isn't as relaxing but in May it was perfect. The ride was smooth, the guide provided narration as to the buildings/places we saw/passed. I had no idea that Sweden had so many islands, many of which are habitable. I found the tour informative, relaxing and scenic. Definitely worth the cost and time
