Itinerary
Returning towards town on excellent new cycle paths we will again reach the River Forth and cross it using the gorgeous stone bridge. Built on the suspected sight of the original Stirling Bridge it not only acts as a crossing but as a monument. William Wallace used the bridge to defeat a much larger English force in the 13th century.
Heading along toward the campus of the University of Stirling we will able to enjoy, what is often voted, the most beautiful university campus in the UK. With the back drop of the Ochil Mountains and its own loch, its easy to see why. Its an oasis of nature to study and was in fact my university for 4 years.
We will continue north getting closer to the mountains before we ascend the hill which plays host to one of the most recognisable symbols of Scotland. The Wallace Monument was built in honour of Scotlands most famous warrior. We will experience the breathtaking views out over the Forth Valley and the town of Stirling itself.
We will begin by riding north towards The Ochil Mountains. Crossing The River Forth we will shortly be at Cambuskenneth Abbey, a little known gem of both religion and the Scottish Wars of Independence.
We will ride around the back of the castle crag to Kings Knot, the still terraced gardens of royalty from centuries ago. From this point we will no only have incredible views of the castle upon its impenetrable rock but also west to the high mountain peaks of the Trossachs (on a clear day!).
Before we make our steep climb into the Old Town, we will take the chance to discuss some Scottish heroes of battle and the arts, outside the old theatre of Stirling.
Views over the Old Town Cemetery to one of the most important churches in the entire UK.
Stirling’s most famous landmark, it’s castle. The seat of Scottish power for centuries and arguably Scotlands best loved castle. We will climb the cobbled street into the esplanade and right up to its impressive gates. From the esplanade we will have uninterrupted views of the mountains, the Forth Valley and the town itself. A truly incredible sight. You will have the option to end your tour here, if you wish to visit the castle.
We will ride down through the town and back to modernity stopping back at the station and the centre of town.

Fabulous tour of stirling, our tour host Stuart went beyond my expectations, his comprehensive knowledge of local and Scottish history was fantastic, a must do for all visitors
Our bicycle tour with Stuart was absolutely fantastic! It was fun, informative, entertaining, and engaging. Definitely the highlight of our visit to Stirling and the best time exploring this amazing area. The e-bikes were top notch and cycling through the city was effortless. It is the ideal way to get a sense of the history of the town as well as the current life and culture. Stuart’s knowledge of history and lore combined with his personal antidotes make for an incredibly enjoyable and educational experience - his reciting a verse from a Robert Burns poem in “Old English” dialect is alone worth the price of the tour! It would be foolish not to include this unique and memorable experience to any trip to Stirling.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ — An Absolute Highlight of My Scotland Trip Stuart’s e-bike tour of Stirling was without question one of the highlights of my entire ten day Scotland trip — and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Stuart is a knowledgeable, personable young man with an impressive command of Stirling’s history and the remarkable sites surrounding the city. He brought the stories of this extraordinary place to life in a way that enhanced everything I saw that day. I want to particularly commend Stuart for his professionalism in contacting me the day before the tour to let me know I would be his only participant that day and that the tour would proceed as planned. That single gesture meant more than he may realize. Many operators might have quietly cancelled a single-person tour — Stuart showed up ready to go regardless. That kind of integrity and reliability is rare and deserves recognition. The e-bike itself was impeccably maintained and the pedal-assisted electric backup was more than sufficient for the entire tour — even on the steeper sections. Stuart also proved to be an excellent and safety-conscious guide in genuinely challenging conditions — it was wet and lightly raining for much of our ride. His clear hand signals and consistent attention to road safety meant I never felt uncertain or at risk at any point. When he learned I had independent plans to visit Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument later that day he thoughtfully adjusted the route to incorporate additional sites while spending less time on locations I would be covering separately. That kind of flexibility and genuine concern for his guest’s overall experience reflects exceptionally well on him. Stuart’s tour is simply excellent. Book it without hesitation.
We had an absolutely fantastic experience with Stuart’s Bicycle Tours! We scheduled an e-bike tour of Stirling, and even though we were jet-lagged, we couldn’t have had a better time. Stuart was incredibly knowledgeable about Stirling’s fascinating history, and his humor and entertaining storytelling made the entire experience so much fun. The e-bikes made exploring the area easy and enjoyable, and Stuart made sure we saw and learned so much along the way. This was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Scotland! We would highly recommend Stuart’s Bicycle Tours to anyone visiting the area. Don’t miss this experience—you won’t regret it! 🚴♀️🏴
An uneventful and on time train ride from Edinburgh to Stirling. Stuart was at the station ready to go. After a professional review of bike safety, fit and itinerary we set off on our e bikes which made the tour and hills very managable. Stuart set a good pace for me. He was knowledgeable of the history and proud to share it with me. He was quick to share various versions/legends of events and offer his opinions of them. I knew prior to the tour that it did not include tours inside the castle but offer to adjust his tour to accommodate me if I desired to tour any of the buildings he showed me. Not only was Stuart a fine tour guide he was a pleasant guy to take a bike ride with and get to know. Stirling is worth the visit and the best way to see Stirling is by bike and with Stuart.
Our Stirling City and Beyond e-bike tour was awesome! Stuart our guide was extremely knowledgeable and interesting. We learnt heaps about the city of Stirling and the significant part it played in Scottish history. The bikes were in excellent condition and easy to ride. I would highly recommend this tour and consider is as one of the best bike tours we’ve done in any city.
We thoroughly enjoyed Stuart's e-bike tour of Stirling. Stuart is a knowledgeable and entertaining guide and the e-bikes were easy to handle. Stirling is incredibly bicycle-friendly. This tour is a great way to visit all the main points of Stirling and learn about its history while following bicycle lanes and paths, some minor roads and quiet streets We would definitely recommend. Many thanks, Stuart
Stuart is a wonderful guide - professional, knowledgeable, and passionate about sharing Scottish history. The bike ride was perfect - across the Stirling Bridge, through the university grounds, to the Wallace Monument and beyond. It was very safe route. The ebike was a good choice for me.
Stuart’s E-Bike tour in Stirling was incredible! We were worried about a 3 hour bike ride after a travel day, but we were so incredibly happy we booked. It was the perfect amount of time, perfect amount of locations visited, and Stuart’s knowledge and passion for Stirling and Scotland made it an incredible one of a kind experience. The biking was not challenging and we felt very safe the entire time, and my parents who are in their late 60s had no issues. Stuart took us to some of the most beautiful historical sites in Stirling, and we learned so much without being overwhelmed with information. We saw other groups walking, or on busses at the historical sites, and we kept saying how grateful we were that we were on the E-Bikes actually exploring the city, not just looking through the windows of a bus. We are looking forward to another tour with him in St. Andrews the next time we visit! Book it!! You will not regret it!
Amazing tour would highly highly recommend!! Best way to spend a half day in Stirling and see way more than just the castle. Guide was wonderful and fun to spend our time with. e-bikes were amazing!! Do it!
We have lived north of the wall for just over a year so wanted to finally explore outside of the major cities! What a treat, easily the best way to see Stirling and discover it’s not just a castle. Stuart was a real local and a proud Scot…maybe the English were the baddies! Haha! Great experience, highly recommended.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Such a fun afternoon! Stuart was great—really professional and made sure the group was comfortable and safe the whole time. He knew so much about the area's history and landmarks. We really enjoyed the few hours on the bikes and feel like we covered so much more ground this way. Thanks for a great experience! Highly recommend!!🚲 🏴
Excellent way to explore Stirling with a fabulous guide, Stuart. We couldn’t have covered as much ground or learned as much without this experience. And everything’s just more fun on a bike.
Absolutely the best day ever! Excellent bikes, phenomenal tour guide who’s historically knowledgeable, patient, pleasant, and professional. Couldn’t have been a better bike experience or day in Stirling! Thank you.
Stuart was punctual & very informative. His communication skills are top notch. I'm older & had not been on a bike in "several" years. He was patient, helpful & personable. He made me feel like I was in good hands. This young man will go places. He is proud of his country & it shows. We visited all of the things I wanted to see, & more. I definitely recommend booking his services.
Amazing tour, guide was polite and explained everything properly. The bicycles were good and the road was great for this tour. We
This morning we experienced more than a bike ride: thanks to you, Stuart, we cycled through history and nature. You provided us with topics of history, architecture, folklore, art and battles and it was extremely interesting! Thank you for conveying great passion and enthusiasm. We didn’t expect such a complete and well done tour, but we were very lucky to experience it! We’ve learned a lot and lived the city of Stirling from a different point of view. If we had not done it, we would have missed out on something amazing! Thanks a million
The only way to see Stirling! From the quality of the e-bikes to Stuart’s knowledge to the beautiful surroundings and main sights of Stirling, it was hard to fault this tour. We loved it, and would highly recommend.
What a great way to land in Stirling. Stuart was an exceptional tour guide, knowledgeable, professional and I felt extremely safe with his bike riding abilities n skills. I would never have covered as much ground or seen the beautiful views of Stirling otherwise. I can’t recommend this tour enough
Our family had a fantastic time with Stuart touring Stirling. First, Stuart was extremely professional and a pleasure to work with scheduling the tour. He even reached out the day before, noting the weather for the day of our tour and offered flexibility for our start time. This worked out perfectly as we had a great tour, just before the rain came. The tour itself was fantastic. We had a family of 4 with various cycling abilities. Stuart was patient with us and the E-bikes made the hills a breeze. He was knowledgeable and entertaining, stopping at a number of historical sites and providing a great overview of the history of Stirling. The ride to and discussion of the Wallace Monument was a highlight. The route he chose was also perfect, as it took us through a couple of scenic little villages and along well-marked bike paths. It was all comfortable and safe. I couldn't recommend the tour enough. Thanks again, Stuart!
I will always suggest that a bike tour with a well trained guide is the best way to see a city with limited time. My guide was approachable, knowledgeable, and an all around good hang. He even gave me wonderful selection for lunch.
I’ve been on a few bike tours over the years and this one stood out, it was great to experience the sights of Stirling on an E-bike, Stuart (the tour guide) took us to all the main sights we wanted to see, including the Wallace monument and the castle, we found the tour extremely interesting and learnt a lot about the city which we didn’t know. A great way to see Stirling!
The instructor who led our tour was an incredibly sympathetic, cheerful and funny man. He knew a lot to tell and it was pleasant to listen to him. We liked to see a big stretch around the city (instead of all the obvious things within the city). We learned a lot about Scottish legends and history. There was room for questions and comments, we thought it was a super fun day!
