The Tropical Treasure Hunt

My family and I are Platinum members with Disney Cruise Line, so we’ve been fortunate enough to do probably 30 different excursions over the years. I can confidently say this was the best excursion we’ve ever done. Anthony and his team were absolutely amazing. From beginning to end, the entire experience was incredibly well thought out, fun, interactive, and completely different from the typical cruise excursion. You can tell how much time and effort they’ve put into creating something truly unique. The treasure hunt was challenging enough to keep everyone engaged, but more importantly, it was an awesome way to explore St. Thomas and experience the island rather than just being taken from one tourist stop to another. Anthony really made the experience. He was friendly, enthusiastic, helpful, and genuinely cared about making sure we had a great time. After all the cruises and excursions we’ve done, it takes a lot for something to stand out — this absolutely did. If you’re visiting St. Thomas, do yourself a favor and book this. We would do it again without hesitation. Anthony and his team knocked it out of the park!

Awesome and really fun I got some cool coins and moved around the whole island with awesome tour guides that also gave nuggets of info about the island overall it was a great time and very well put together

Best Caribbean adventure!!! An escape adventure with a history lesson/museum visit, snorkeling (even saw sea turtles!), boat ride, lunch, and a bit of a bar crawl. Absolute best. Our guide, Anthony, was amazing! So informative! Learning in such a fun way! Family friendly!

This was our second opportunity to participate in a treasure hunt with The Tropical Treasure Hunt Co. in the USVI, and it was every bit as amazing as we remembered! The experience feels like you’re stepping into scenes from National Treasure or The Da Vinci Code. It goes far beyond a typical escape room—it’s one of the most immersive and exciting adventures we’ve ever done. The puzzles are creative, the storylines are engaging, and the entire experience keeps you fully invested from beginning to end. The team is professional, friendly, and genuinely fun to be around. They do an incredible job creating treasure hunts that appeal to all ages and interests, so there’s truly something for everyone. If you’re looking for a unique family adventure, I can’t recommend them enough. It’s the kind of experience you’ll be talking about for years afterward. We will absolutely continue to book with them every time we return to St. Thomas!

Our guide was great! We did a hunt as our family of 7. Youngest kid age 7 oldest 15. Very entertaining and informative!

This was a blast! Amazing sights, a fun narrative, multiple locations with tangible things to do/figure out, and problems to solve. It was a roughly 6-7 hour excursion we booked on our cruise, and it did not disappoint at all. Anthony, Vally, and the other staff were great. Sean was great to listen to as we got real world stories of treasure hunting with relevant tidbits on top of informative history. All around a great adventure with beautiful locations, food/drink included, and an engaging series of activities. Worth every penny and would do again in a heartbeat!

Anthony was great! Was there step by step throughout the excursion. So much included with the trip. It was amazing. It was none stop excitement.

This was the best shore excursion we've ever done. It was a small group and loads of great service. Everyone from Rich picking us up at the port to the Pirates on the beach was fabulous. Think of this trip as an escape room but driving around St. Thomas. We went with our 10 uear old son, and it was a great fit. Love love love!!!

Booked the Salty Pirate Adventure for my birthday and had a blast! After a briefing we searched for clues in Bluebeards castle (and got a private tour) before heading out on the water for a real carribean adventure! We searched for clues on STJ that led us to the ultimate treasure back on STT. We had a wonderful time. Thanks Benjamin, Anthony and Capt Val!

What a marvelous adventure we had on the Magic Portal Treasure Hunt to celebrate a 9th birthday! We've been residents of St Thomas for many years and have seen & done most of what the island has to offer... so it was a DELIGHT to discover an experience for the kids to work together solving the mysteries, learn about pirate history, and have a fun beach experience that they'd never had! The whole experience was so cleverly & well-organized... Anthony was very helpful in setting up our experience, Richie was an excellent guide, and Pirate C added such humor & fun to the experience! Highly recommend a treasure hunt on your visit to St Thomas!

From booking to getting us back to the ship, this experience was a 10+! The owner, Anthony, was a pleasure to work with and so reliable and responsive to all our questions while booking. Our guide, Jake, met us promptly and filled our brains with just enough interesting facts about pirates and their role on the islands to make us feel our totally fun time was also a little educational. The pirate museum was really interesting and I think we would have missed so much if we'd visited on our own. Even the gentleman running the gift shop was delightful and entertaining with fabulous pirates stories. The price of admission, by the way, is covered by The Tropical Treasure Hunt Co. Eventually, we were driven by Mac to a beautiful beach that was far enough away to escape the cruise ship crowds and we were treated to some island libations after solving our mystery. Overall an absolutely wonderful adventure and totally worth the price (private guide, fabulous adventure, museum admission, a ride to and from a beautiful beach and tasty drinks). Highly, highly recommend!

I loved the challenge combined with a tour of a bit of the island. The drinks didn't hurt either 😁. The level of difficulty of the puzzles was perfect for a mix of abilities. Anthony, the owner, was hands on making sure everything went smoothly.

We didn’t have an excursion planned for our stop in St. Thomas and happened to come across this adventure when checking out a map of the port area. It sounded like fun so we booked it as we arrived to port. This was a lot of fun. Our guide was great, providing us a lot of history lessons as well as stories of his own experiences in the area. We are really glad we took a chance on this pirate themed adventure. It was a really unique experience and well worth our time and money.

Jake was our guide for the day and was friendly and helpful. The museum where we got our clues was interesting and well-done. We had fun working out the clues and digging up our treasure. The beach was great. We had a little trouble finding the meeting point because our cruise ship docked in a different spot, but it worked out fine.

My partner and I whole-'ARRRRRR-tedly loved this adventure. From beginning to end, this should be a bucket-list for any travelers to St. Thomas. If you're on a cruise, Anthony meets you at the port to walk you a few blocks back to The Tropical Treasure Hunt's main office where you pick up your explorer gear for the day and participate in a little team-building. Once you've received your instructions (SPOILER ALERT: YOU'RE LOOKING FOR TREASURE), the full day of fun begins with a stop at the Pirate Museum where some edutainment comes into play....you learn some local pirate lore while also searching for clues for your next destination. This becomes the running narrative of the day. Each new set of clues leads you to ever new locales where you may snorkel for clues as you swim along sea turtles and stingrays...where you may be in the bar of a famous dead man piecing together maps...where you may converse with locals for their knowledge....where you may raise some mystery bottles from the deep....where you may find what you've been seeking on a sandy beach. That's the game. The real treasure, however, is Anthony and his amazing crew who introduce you to parts of the islands you wouldn't necessarily see if you were just relying on regular tour operators. This is sightseeing off-the-beaten path all while being lured by the prospect of gold. Part workout. Part Amazing Race. Part teambuilding. All fun. A true Salty Piracy Adventure. Anthony and his team are incredible. We had as much fun getting to know them as we did playing the game. You can tell they have a love for their islands and want to share it in the most imaginative way possible. We will definitely be back for further adventures with them, as our seven-hour journey gave us memories for a lifetime. Some helpful tips: bring sunscreen/sunglasses and your sense of exploration. Anthony has a dry pack to carry your phones and other perishables for the more aquatic piece of the day. Don't worry about food or drinks, either. They've got ya covered.

I did this experience with my mom and we had an amazing time on our treasure hunt! We could spend hours in the museum alone, and figuring out all the clues was very fun. This was a great mix of hands on learning, puzzle solving and actual pirate history. At the end of our search we ended up at a tropical paradise where we found our treasure and met amazing pirate guides who ended up sitting down and having lunch with us while they shared their stories! I would highly recommend this adventure experience to anyone visiting St. Thomas. Thank you to the whole team who made our treasure hunt so memorable!

If you have kids, there is no better way to explore the island and learn about pirates other than the tropical treasure hunt. If you don't have kids there is no better way of exploring the island and learning about pirates either. The scavenger hunt is funa en engaging, the crew is knowledgeable and engaging, and the setup is fascinating and amazing. All of it is a fantastic edutainment exercise, and you would miss out the best way to explore, learn and enjoy

We really enjoyed it, especially with a 11 month old, they were very accommodating of a stroller and the little one. Gave us time to explore the museum and see a little of the beach.

I am so happy that Anthony is finally getting the recognition for these fantastic pirate adventures that he creates, this isn't our first outing with Anthony and his crew and we will keep coming back again as he always cooks up something new and exciting every time we come down, we did the haunted island, night kayak experience this time around and as usual, we had a great time. He works with the best crew, every step of the way was filled with something interesting and they follow your cues, if you are a wacky crew like we are you can be yourself and have a great time, every stop on the way the crew is perfect, the clues are just hard enough to make you really think but not so difficult that you get frustrated, this is well thought out. If you come with adults only the crew adjusts, if you come with the kids the crew adjusts so you have a great experience every time. If you get to st. Thomas you should put this on your list of things to do, make some memories!

One of the coolest things to do on the island! Anthony is a great dude highly recommend this experience! Anthony told us all about the pirate history of the island. We got to go explore St. John. We swam with sea turtles while we were snorkeling and the overall treasure hunt was a blast!

We did the Salty Piracy Adventure with two children, two grandparents, and several adults and had an absolute blast! It was a great way to celebrate a milestone birthday, explore the USVI, and make some memories together that we won't soon forget. I can't recommend it enough! Awesome experience for my whole family. Mystery, adventure, exotic ports and ocean travel. You think you have things kind of figured out then a surprise comes out of nowhere. There's always a feeling that the treasure hunt is in control by the staff. Would definitely do this again!

Super interactive and tons of fun. We booked a longer version of this through Disney Cruiseline. We had so much fun! Best excursion ever! I felt like the staff went out of their way to make it a special day for us! Only 6 people were in our small group. So, we had a very fun and focused day I highly recommend!

We booked this excursion through Disney Cruise Line. We had an excellent time. It was a good experience for our young children and kept them entertained. All the employees were friendly and great with kids. We had a great time and would do it again. Pirate Goldilocks was a lot of fun. We enjoyed all the staff we interacted with.

From the moment we met up with our guide “Richie Rich” it was a great experience. He knew we were interested in the history side of the entertainment and he really gave it to us. Rich was patient with us as we worked through the treasure hunt and kept us entertained with history facts throughout. One of the main reasons we booked this was because we like history and the golden age package is packed with it. The tour of the museum the history beside not only the treasure hunt but just St Thomas and the surrounding islands were top notch!. I created an account just to review this place if that tells you anything. If you book this tour I would highly recommend requesting Rich as he was great!

Tour guides at the cruise dock were great and helped everyone get to their correct transportation despite our best efforts to get lost. The event itself started with a cute outdoor scavenger hunt and then we walked to their museum. The kids had a lot of fun rummaging around the museum for clues. They got stuck and needed a little help, and the staff were excellent at interacting with the kids and adults. The ride from the museum to Sapphire Beach "felt" long for the little bit of time we ultimately spent there. The portion of the event at the beachfront was a little chaotic because our group was larger than usual and the table area we found for finishing clues with Captain Goldilocks had music blaring. Some of the kids and adults definitely tuned out because of the music overload, but once we got over to the sand castle it was fun and engaging. The guide joined our group in the trolley/bus on the way back and shared a bit about the island which was very nice. It made the ride back a lot more enjoyable and would be good for them to figure something like that out more routinely for the ride out and back. I would definitely recommend this excursion for families or groups with kids 12 and under, and especially groups interested in pirates and/or puzzles.

Our 4 1/2 year old loved this! Rich our tour guide did AWESOME really setting the vibe. She said it was the best day ever finding real pirate treasure! And neat history to learn about. We will def do this again if we come back!

We went on the Treasure hunt with 6 adults who really enjoy escape rooms and adventure. This was an enjoyable way to do puzzles and find clues while exploring the Virgin Islands. Our 7 hour adventure included 2 alcoholic (or nonalcoholic) beverages from places along the journey. We have amazing tour guides! We got to enjoy snorkeling in between looking for clues as well where our group saw a sea turtle and a sting ray! I highly recommend!

We had a great time in the museum. The beach portion of the hunt was also good. We could see how it would be fantastic for families with 6 to 12 year olds. Logistically, it was well thought out from meeting us at the ship to returning us after the experience was complete, we'll in time for our sailing. It even included lunch.

Cool experience similar to an escape room. There are 2 sets of clues a points to ensure children and adults participate and have fun.

We had an awesome time on this adventure. My daughter (9) and I loved the escape room style game. We found the treasure and enjoyed a drink at the bar. The staff was fun and full of knowledge and stories of the pirates of the past.
