It was the highlight of our trip. Guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. Mangroves were beautiful and we saw so many animals. Hermit crabs, birds, beautiful fish.

Great time! Glad they provided ice cold water and chocolates after snorkeling. Guide Brett is knowledgeable and protective of this beautiful area. My kids (11 and 14) enjoyed the 2.5hrs. Just the right amount of time spent.
Brett was awesome. Knew everything about the ocean, the mangroves, and all the sea life. Took the time to explain and made the whole thing fun as well as .
Pick up from the dock was right on time. Check in was quick and equipment was in good condition. Employees were helpful and our tour good was great. Kayaking was fun and a workout. Snorkeling was cool and saw some beautiful fish like stingrays, leopard fish and many others. Great family activity with one caveat. Be prepared to work on the kayak and snorkeling if it's windy. Small children will be along for the ride so parents will do all the work
Very fun. Loved kayaking and snorkeling and info. Got ate up by mosquitoes. Tour description said food and beverage after but got a snack size snickers and a bottle of water lol.
Loved this tour. It was the family favorite on our cruise. Swish was an awesome guide and made it really engaging. Was a short drive from the cruise terminal, we got right on the water and the different parts of the excursion were just the right length. We saw lots of hermit crabs, sting rays, fish, conches, etc. Would do this one again!
John was great! Learned a lot and had a blast.
Swiss was an awesome tour guide.. he towed my son and I kayak cause we couldn’t get it together
Swish was an amazing tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about the island and its history.
Swish was AWESOME!!! I was questioning my choice about kayaking but he made it an enjoyable experience. I glad I came along.
Really great experience. We had two kids 12 and 13 and they were able to keep up. A great mixture of a few different activities. Our ship docked late and they waited for us despite being about 30 minutes late to arrival
Swish was an amazing tour guide! He took time to explain all the fun things about the island and made sure we had a great time. Definitely the highlight of our trip so far!
Best experience I've ever had the tour guide was amazing!!
Our family of 4 was looking to get into nature during the few hours that our cruise was docked in St Thomas. This excursion fit the bill. We kayaked for approx 3 miles - got to walk a little and see more hermit crabs than we ever had before. We swam and snorkeled as well. I’d say the highlight of the tour was kayaking and seeing the wildlife in shore. My boys (11&13) loved it.
Had a great experience even with some confusion on the pickup area and staff shortage. Staff truly over delivered and made what could have been a miserable experience into something we’ll never forget. Office staff is responsive and was quick to solve issues/flexible on a solution. The guide staff was passionate about nature and local wildlife. Shout out to our guide Primo :) and don’t forget the sunblock!
Well organized, staff was friendly, funny and informative! My husband and I were in a double kayak, we made it back to the dock and we tipped it by accident. No fault of the Mangrove Lagoon Tour company, but I highly suggest they have a ladder at the dock for instances like this. The staff and others in our group helped us up out of the water but a ladder would have been ideal. The staff was able to recover my belongings, including my cell phone that sank into the dark muck! Great teamwork by all!
Bring reef friendly sun screen. Our guide was very knowledgeable and kind to the environment. Wear sturdy footwear for the hike.
This wasn't a great tour experience as we expected. First of all, the management of the tour company is quite terrible. They scheduled another 60 school kids for the morning and somehow they didn't even aware. They had a bus to bring about 20 of us to the site, and they ask us to return in the afternoon! (Everything were booked way ahead of time) Some of the tourists in the bus are quite upset with them. Then they somehow managed to let us in despited get a few of tourists turning back to cruise ship. The communication was poor as well. I don't see sincere apologies from the them about this mess. Another interesting thing is that they "promised" they will provide some souvenir after the tour and end up nothing, and we don't even get to see our tour pictures the guide took. The tour itself is lame. There isn't much in the water in that area, and barely any fish in the snorkel area (they had turtle picture everywhere in their posters which you will never see). We have much better mangrove tours before, this is a disappointing one for sure. The tour guide was pretty good, probably the only thing earns them 2 stars there. BTW, if they told you that you can hold up-side-down jelly fish for pictures and you have sensitive skin, don't do that - my wife had itchy skin after that and last for more than a day. If you like to have a kayak / snorkel tour in St Thomas there are much better options out there, this is a quite waste of time and money.
Fun kayak and snorkel. Knowledgeable guide. Only issue was that we were supposed to get picked up at the cruise ship and that didn’t happen. The company did refund us the taxi ride. They said they would fix it
Swish and Joseph were our guides. Swish set the tone for the tour with his relaxed, fun loving energy for the day in its entirety. He was informative, interactive, had a large group to support, but ensured that whilst we canoed through the waters his energy kept us going without us realising. There was so much to learn and to see. You could see their passion for their jobs which in turn became contagious to the people around them. Such a fabulous tour combining a mixture of activities. Thank you Swish and Joseph.
Nash was a great guide, very knowledgeable about the area, plant and wildlife. We had a great time and would highly recommend checking these guys out and request Nash for a great guide.
Kayaking was so much fun with Nash! He was a great tour guide. It was a perfect day to snorkel too, saw lots of fish and sting rays
Great day on the kayak and really enjoyed the snorkeling. The staff were great to work with and so helpful!
We included pick up and drop off in our excursion and it was well worth it. The driver was waiting for us at both the ship port and the excursion location.
The experience was exceptional! Fascinating, fun and educational. Swish and Nash were the perfect guides. I would highly recommend to anyone interested in the beauty of nature and the islands.
Swish was an excellent guide. Very informative and made it enjoyable with his jokes. The kyack was amazing. The snorkeling was great and the blow hole made an awesome pic.
Swish and Francis were amazing guides, filled us in on lots of facts about the area and the wildlife! Really enjoyed the hermit crab race!
Alonzo was an excellent guide. He was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna in the area. He had an engaging personality and made the tour super fun. He answered questions from the group. He went above and beyond to provide an amazing experience in St. Thomas.
Tour guide was awesome and taught us the basics of kayaking and was able to teach us a lot of fun facts about the local environment.
Absolutely incredible! My wife and I had a blast, the lagoon was beautiful and our guide, Perez was incredibly informative. We learned so much about this wonderful environment, and would absolutely come back again!
Loved our guide Alonso Potter. He was very informative and super fan. Loved this guided tour. Lots of activity with swimming and kayaking and hiking
This was amazing! Our guide Javontay was as amazing! Loved the learned, history and stories that he shared. It was a great hit challenging trip. Would definitely recommend this excursion.
This is our honeymoon cruise, and we picked this at the last minute. From start to finish the guides were incredible. The knowledge of everything they showed us blew my mind. It was by far the best excursion I have ever been on. My wife had never been on a cruise, and this was her first time snorkeling and she had an absolute blast.
We had an amazing time!!! This tour is well paced and so much fun! Prez took the time to tell us cool little facts and was so friendly it really made for the best time. I can imagine with the right guide like Prez this tour would be fun for kids too. It's nice that the waters are all so shallow in this tour that I had no worries about fearing deep water. I could see the bottom the whole time and no more than maybe 6-8 feet at its deepest. The snorkeling was fun too and Prez helped find some cool fish. It's such calm waters there that it made for easy snorkeling.
Excellent guides (Kyrell) with incredible knowledge of the mangroves and sea life. We were 7, ages 18 to 55, and every single one had a blast in the kayak and snorkel experience. If I have a criticism for bettering the experience it would be to have the pick up person dressed in an identifying shirt or hat or with a sign or even a green umbrella! Our driver was in jeans and a black t-shirt, sitting on a pylon and smoking a cigarette; it took me about ten minutes of asking around to get to him as our driver.
Everything was well handled. Kas was an amazing guide and very knowledgeable. All staff were friendly and kind.
the tour guides Swish alonso and jeffrey were all great good people had a blast.Lots of good sights to see and snorkeling was a blast.
Great excursion! Kaz and Nashan were fantastic kayak guides, sharing tons of information about the local fauna and wildlife both in and out of the water. Snorkeling was great too! The van service picked us up and dropped us off right near our cruise ship- super easy to find and the tour operator was very communicative.
This is a perfect excursion for shorter port call. Kass and Patricia were our guides and they were wonderful…very knowledgeable on the sea life and the fauna. Pick up was easy right at the windmill when you get off the ship. Highly recommend.
Jeffrey, David, and Swish provided a great tour! It was incredibly informational, focusing on the history and conservation of the island and wild life. Their care for and knowledge of the island and wildlife was so evident. They were all very humorous and friendly as well!
Loved the kayaking, enjoyed the guide (Swoosh?) ‘s humor and great commentary; snorkeling was good 👍🏻👍🏻 but arrived at the port (Crown Bay) with no idea where to go, no-one available from VI Eco Tours… after waiting for more than an hour, from the supposed starting time for the tour, and frantic enquiring, we got a ride with Ed, which was kind of him, but it was a letdown, as we were RUSHED from there on - thankfully we got back to the cruise ship, just in time before its departure. Bottom line: there is an inherent risk to booking an excursion independently when on a cruise… As for the kayaking and snorkeling experience in the mangroves - SUPERB!!!
We did this as excursion from a cruise we had booked. None of us had snorkeled before and after this experience we are looking at booking vacations purely around snorkeling now! The guides were so helpful and made sure we could see any exciting discovery that was found - turtles, sting rays, schools of fish. The location was beautiful and catered to our individual levels of daring (some stayed by the coast to see the schools and some went out exploring and finding new things!) As a first time experience, this was off the charts. Some of us were very nervous to try it, but the guides were always around and let us go at our own pace. I wish I had taken pictures!
Very relaxing kayak through the mangroves that ended at a beach to snorkel off of and relax in the sand. Freddy was our guide and did a great job guiding us through the mangroves and answered our many (many😂) questions! He helped us find lots of wildlife to see and shared all his local knowledge! He also acted as our photographer along the way! We were more interested in the kayaking than the snorkeling and he let us adjust our trip to spend more time kayaking in the mangroves. Amazing experience!
It was amazing! Swish was such a great tour guide. I would definitely recommend others to try this adventure! I'm not sure if the kayaking was more fun, or the snorkeling. But you should try it all!
Awesome experience! I’ve done a kayaking excursion once before but it was unguided. This time was great because I got to learn about the local wildlife, plants and environments from the guides! I greatly appreciated that the group was smaller too so it was easier for us all to explore the cape. Never snorkeled before this but made me interested to try it again. Also wear solid water shoes for the hiking part! Would highly recommend this excursion!
Amazing and informational. J’avante and Katz were amazing and informative. My husband and I thought this was one our best tours ever. We learned many new facts about St Thomas and Mangroves.
Great trip. Te’Quan was a great guide. Hermit crab race was down to the wire. A great way to learn about the importance of the mangroves and the sea life living around them.
Snorkeling was below average. Not very many fish at all. Guides were funny but overall this excursion was not worth the money.
Great partial day excursion in St. Thomas. We were on a cruise and this was a great way to spend half a day. Kayaking was fun and not too stressful. Opportunity to snorkel helped cool off on a warm day and a good amount of various sized fish to see. Tour guide was friendly and informative. Pickup and dropoff from cruise terminal was a plus.
We had a private tour through COSTCO and it was FABULOUS! Snorkeling was GREAT - close up to the fish. Our guide was a bright young man (I'm sorry I forgot his name) who is heading to college in NY. He had some of his highschool education in USA so it was very easy to talk to him and understand him. He was relaxed and enjoyed the time with us. The kayaking was not difficult and very special through the mangroves, learning about the ecosystem. He pulled up a special jellyfish for us to study. He showed us starfish of various kinds and taught us about hermit crabs. The walk on the small Happy Island was special to the blow hole. One really felt like they got a feel of the area. Snorkeling gear was provided but I brought my own. Fins NOT needed. water a bit cool but very tolerable. We went at our own pace. I forgot to tell them I was vegetarian so be sure to tell them since they make a lunch for you. They called a taxi for us at the end of the tour. Remember it is $15 EACH way to and from the dock/ship. Bring cash for tipping as well. You will want to tip because it was a very special time.
