Private Luxury Power Catamaran. Enjoy Usvi Aboard Mv Hydra

They sent me an email the day before that they are switching to a boat with almost no canopy, no catamaran, and ten feet shorter. I could not reach them by phone. There are other reviews like this where they are overbooking and making you take a smaller craft with no shade. TripAdvisor thankfully gave me a refund even though it was under the 24-hour period. This was the highlight of my yearly family trip, and these people ruined it. Seven hours on water means you need a canopy, or you will be painfully red.

The tour company called the day before the reservation to say that the power catamaran was not available and we would only be able to take a sailing catamaran that was significantly smaller. There was no other available option given we had less than 24 hour notice and they would not give us a discount. The captain of the sailing catamaran was terrific and the boat was nice but we were definitely limited in what we could do with the day as a result which was why I specifically booked a power vessel as opposed to a sailing vessel. Beware if you book through Seas the Day via Viator or TripAdvisor as they didn’t think twice about totally uprooting our plan at the last minute.

We did a private charter on the Hydra with Brayson as our captain, and it was perfect! Brayson was an excellent captain who maneuvered us expertly through waves and around squalls. He was also very accommodating when my teens changed their minds about what they wanted to do. We enjoyed the day very much! At the end of the trip I asked our group of six what was the best part, and the private charter day came out the winner. Highly recommend!

We had a super fun day! Captain Rusty gave us several options for stops and we snorkeled in 3 spots.

My daughter and I had an unforgettable snorkeling trip! We got to swim alongside sea turtles, rays, and so many colorful fish - it truly felt like we were in a nature documentary. The water at Turtle Cove and Honeymoon beach was crystal clear. Both stops offered something new and exciting! Captain Rusty was the best! He was funny, knowledgeable and passionate about the islands. This was one of the highlights of our vacation, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for an adventure on (and under!) the water. St. Thomas is our favorite vacation destination and Seas the Day is the only way to go!

Captain Rusty did an awesome job with everyone on his boat. He put everyone on the trip as his priority and had a lot of great information about the places we explored and the snorkeling was great in both places. We saw turtles and a 4ft barracuda that was curious lol. Will do it again with them. Thank you for the great experience

Sammy was the best captain we could have had. She gave us great informations regarding the island and brought us to amazing snorkling spots. We had a blast!

Captain Wallens was very informative and made every person on board feel safe, while also providing a relaxing experience on the water! Our first stop was Maho Bay and we were lucky enough to see some very large sea turtles. Then we jetted off to Carvel Rock where Captain Wallens informed us that sailors would have to unload their ammo (cannons) before entering the harbors. Our last stop was Congo Cay and had a fabulous time snorkeling!

Absolutely loved this boat! The hospitality of the crew was top notch! They are OVER the TOP——CLASS ACT! They absolutely made iur experience one for the ages!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Had a great day with Seas the Day Charters with captain Bryan and first mate Kianna. Snorkeling experience was wonderful, saw lots of marine life, including sea turtles. Bryan’s suggestion of lunch in Lovango was spot on and delicious. Thank you for an amazing day!

We had the most wonderful day with Captain Aaron!!! My husband and I went on a full day tour aboard MV Hydra. Aaron showed us all of the sights and gave us so much information. He helped us get comfortable with snorkeling in deep water. I would highly recommend this boat and Captain!! This exceeded all of our expectations!!

We had the best time on our all day private catamaran excursion. Captain Aaron and Coleman made our trip so memorable by taking us to the best snorkeling spots and getting us to Water Island for lunch and swimming. They were truly the best and it honestly felt like we were out there with friends. This was truly a 5 star experience for my family of 5 including 3 kids ages 7, 12 and 14👍

Capt Bryan and Caitlyn were great!! They were patient as we were running late, very informative about the land and gave lots of cool fun facts, very transparent about pricing and they kept the ride fun and gave us a great experience for the time we had!!! Definitely recommend and would book again for future vacations!

Billy and Kianna were great. Cool stories about the islands, great advice on where to snorkel - and we saw over 10 turtles, several rays and lots of cool fish. We had adults and kids on our trip and it was fun for everyone! Highly recommended.

I am at a loss of how to start this review. We were traveling to St Thomas - 2 families with children age 7-11 and we were so excited for a day on the water snorkeling and visiting the different islands. We reviewed all the charter companies and their vessels and chose Seas the Day based on reviews and vessel selection. Hope was lovely to speak with leading up to the trip making us even more confident that our experience would be great. Then the day of the trip arrived and we went to the port ready to board the MV Hydra when the company did a complete bait and switch on us. They had the Island Flyer ready and only offered this vessel for our day. They claimed that we were notified - but no email or voicemail was received and we had a feeling this bait and switch was standard practice for them. Putting beautiful photos online and then when you arrive and have no other options they serve you up an old run down vessel instead. The Island Flyer was not even close to a comparable boat lacking the appropriate 10ft of size, seating and sun coverage for our family day on the ocean. They offered us a $200 stipend for the change after we complained but really they ruined our day and couldn’t have cared less. With so many reputable companies offering charters in the USVI, I would highly recommend that you look elsewhere.

Let me start by saying the people at Seas the Day were very nice and we enjoyed the days with them. We booked 2 private charters with Seas the Day (STD) in March 2023. On this cruise, our power catamaran was not available. STD notified us right before departure we'd be upgraded to a sailing catamaran and refunded $300. That sounded good...except the sailing catamaran was incapable of deploying its sails and could only muster a maximum of 5 knots under power. We were unable to tour the islands as we were moving so slowly. For our second outing, we waited at the dock well past our pickup. We finally received a call that there were problems, so we'd be picked up in a small boat. More problems occurred and we waited until an hour after our appointed time and were indeed picked up in a tiny power boat to take us out. We powered around looking for our sailing catamaran and finally found it - and again, it could not sail. We again had very limited range as our max speed with current and the wind was approximately 3.5 knots. After the morning delay, we hit a couple of spots and then were advised we needed to leave right away to get back to the dock - we were dropped promptly at 4pm - not a second late - after starting our day 1:15 late. STD took the position that they refunded us $300 for the earlier snafu and did not see any reason for any further refund.

This charter was the BEST part of our trip to the USVI’s. Captain Greg and Aaron were so attentive, fun, and knowledgeable on our outing. We will 100% be booking with Seas The Day on our next trip.

All the arrangements worked out for our family group of 7. The Hydara was comfortable and had plenty of shaded cover. Captain Gregg and assistant Nate were friendly and most accommodating with my 87 yr. old mother. Nate was particularly friendly and outgoing. Plenty of drinks offered. The itinerary worked out great and enjoyed the snorkeling, though not coral reefs at Brewers Bay. Only drawback was the ladder to get back up into the ship. It was too short to access the bottom rung easily and the rungs themselves were pretty painful to step on to.

Captain Greg and Nate treated us to a fantastic day of sightseeing, snorkeling, and lunch. On the way to Maho Bay, Greg and Nate took us on a tour of the St. John coast, highlighting points of interest and history along the way. Snorkeling at Maho Bay was awesome. Our group saw turtles, rays, and a variety of other fish. I recommend venturing over near the rocky shore as we saw a different set of creatures there vs the open bay. We next headed to Waterlemon Cay for more exceptional snorkeling. We saw an octopus there and another vast array of sea life. On the way back, we had lunch at Lovango Beach Club. Beautiful site for pictures and just relaxing! This trip was absolutely one of the highlights of our vacation. Greg and Nate provided just the right amount of history, humor, and local info!

Captain Greg and Nate were awesome. They took us to the best beaches St. John had to offer. We had the greatest snorkeling experience ever. Our family snorkeled wrecks, swam with turtles, saw manta rays, a spotted eagle ray and nurse sharks along with numerous beautiful smaller tropical fish. The boat was spacious, clean and comfortable. The music was good and the conversations were fun. We could not have asked for anything more.

Captain Greg and Alicia (mermaid) were absolutely awesome. It’s hard to know what you are signing up for. When we were greeted by captain Greg and got on the Hydra boat, I knew we were in good hands. They were very accommodating, knowledgeable and fun! Not to mention safe. We are so thankful!!!! The day was absolutely perfect. Highly recommend.

What started out as a potential disaster due to another company canceling last min, seas the day was nothing short of exceptional. From calling in the day before trying to book Hope on the phone was amazing and helpful. Greg and Angela on the boat were exceptional! Made the day exceptional and easy. No pressure just cruised the island and learned about different destination areas. If you are going to book an excursion I highly recommend this group and captain Greg/ Angela!

Captain Greg and first mate Nate really made this a fun and relaxing day for our party of nine 😁They took us to some great snorkle spots that literally felt like you were swimming in a giant aquarium 🐠 Nate served up the drinks all day so none of us ever had an empty cup 🍸 The day prior to our trip, Captain Greg gave me a call and had me book lunch reservations at a super tasty spot called Lovongo. The food did not disappoint 😋 To finish our day out on the boat I asked if we could get close to Epstiens Island and they were happy to oblige. Thanks guys and thank you Seas the Day for helping us make some really great memories today!

Excellent day trip snorkeling with my girls. Captain Aaron and 1st mate Nate are top shelf, taking us to some great snorkeling sites around St. John and over on Lavonga. We chartered with Seas the Day for a full day cruise while visiting St. Thomas on a family cruise with Royal Caribbean. The 12 family members (ages 8 to 47) who ventured out with Captain Holly and Angela say it was the highlight of their cruise (and that's saying something)! They swam with the fishes, snorkeled over a wreck and a reef and one of my grandsons even petted a passing sea turtle. They also stopped off at a terrific place on a beach for lunch. The crew were super friendly and top notch. I'll also say that Holly and the rest of the staff were easy to work with and were prompt to answer my emails (much appreciated!). Look, this isn't an inexpensive outing...but you do get your money's worth!

My family went out on a full day charter aboard the MV Hydra with Captain Aaron and First Mate Sonni. They were fantastic! Aaron took us to some great hidden gem snorkel spots, and Sonni was always there to help get on and off the boat, and keep us happy with cold drinks (in addition to her other duties of helping Aaron)! With a range of ages and snorkeling comfort levels, they made sure that each of us felt safe, and had a ball. Thank you so much! Highly recommend Seas the Day!

Best decision we made was to rent this boat for the day ! 3 generations enjoying the sites and snorkeling (so many turtles and amazing fish) Captain Greg and his crew were awesome and very informative about the history of the sites we stopped at. They suggested we stop at Lavongo for lunch (amazing) Definitely recommend !!!

This was an amazing experience with our family of ten. Worth every penny. We had 8 adults and two very young children (under 4). Captain Greg and Jodi curated our experience to keep the whole group happy. We snorkeled in three different spots. The captain and Jodi were able to point out all the different fish and we were lucky enough to see sea turtles. Beyond that, they gave us incredible knowledge of the islands and pointed all the different attractions as we passed. The whole time the drinks and beverages were flowing. I cannot say thank you to Captain Greg and Jodi enough. We did this charter as gift to my parents for their 40th wedding anniversary and it was one of the best gifts we could have given. A great day on the sea for all of us!!! Highly recommended

We had a great trip around St John with Holly and JW. We got to swim with turtles, snorkel around coral reefs, eat pizza from a boat with live music, snorkel around a shipwreck and swim to a beach with no car access. While traveling we got some great history lessons from Holly, and JW kept the kids engaged with his tales of adventure. Could not have asked for a better experience. Thanks again.

We had an AMAZING full day trip aboard the Hydra with Greg and Aaron!! They were so kind, friendly and attentive to our two kids (8 & 3). Aaron even got in the water to snorkel with us twice at our sons request. They made sure everyone had a great experience. If ever in St Thomas again, we will 100% book another trip with Seas the Day and Greg and Aaron! Thank you both for a great memory!!

When planning my 40th birthday trip, I knew I wanted to spend a day out on the water and with a group my size (11 people), I realized getting a private charter would be very reasonable. After a ton of research, I landed on Seas the Day. Captain Greg and Alicia were amazing. We swam with seas turtles, rays, octopus, and squid, just to names a few. Captain Greg called the night before and made sure to plan an itinerary around our interests. Alicia was an amazing source of information and was always there to offer you a beverage or check in to make sure you were having a good time. She's also quite the master of pirate dad jokes. Don't sleep on Seas the Day. A full day charter is a great way to see the islands and spend time with friends.

Captain Greg and First Mate Christy were amazing. We told them what we were wanting to do for our full day trip and they provided it, exactly! They are so knowledgeable. We snorkeled quieter areas and saw so many reefs and turtles. We had a delicious and FUN lunch at the Lime Out! The boat was so clean, lots of gear and the drinks were plentiful. Best day of the week!

I’ve done my rounds with day boat trips throughout Europe, the Caribbean, California, & Florida. This was without a doubt one of the best trips I’ve taken. If you have the chance to request Greg & Christy as your crew I’d definitely advise that. They were willing to take us wherever we wanted and had great advice as to what would be the most optimal use of our time. Super nice people. Snorkeling gear was great, amenities were fabulous, and the crew helped make the day even better. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the USVI’s. Definitely checkout Lime Out if you go to the east side of St. John!

Best day of our vacation! We were in excellent hands with Captain Gary and first mate Caroline. They were amazing from beginning to end. We started the day at Maho Bay hoping to find sea turtles. With Caroline’s help we were able to find one. We lunched on Lovango, which offered delicious food with an outstanding view and ended the day with more snorkeling, cruising and a steady supply of beverages. What makes this charter extra special is that it the captain tailored the day to the preferences of our group of 8. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an unforgettable day!

Our Captain was Bryan with Alicia as first mate. We cruised from St John to St Thomas with stops to snorkel along the way. Our group ranged from 70 to 4! Our crew made sure all needs were met. Stopped off at a pizza boat for lunch! Could not have asked for a better crew, boat or itinerary!! Book it-you won’t be disappointed!!

Our group of 9 (adults and teens) thoroughly enjoyed our charter. Captain Rachael and First Mate Osay kept us safe and took care of our every need. Osay was everywhere all of the time (if thats possible). Between the 2 of them we had a bartender, dj, tour guide, history guide, captain, marine biologist and more!! We went all over St John. Hit Lime Out for lunch. Snorkeled with turtles. The teens loved the bean bags in the front and the adults loved the shady area behind the captain. Osay led the kids jumping off the roof!! I wish we could do this every day. We will probably be rebooking a sunset catamaran cruise for later in our trip You could EASILY fit 12 on here with room to spare.

This was a fantastic experience! Captain Brian and JW were excellent ...fun, informative and attentive. We did many activities in St. Thomas, but his was everyone's favorite!

Enjoyable and relaxing day on this beautiful catamaran with above & beyond service! Captain Greg and Alicia were professional, courteous & fun! They were engaging, hospitable and We felt safe. Captain Greg & Alicia customized the outing to our group … everything from the stops we made … to the playlist … to the Happy Birthday Flag Banner ….even a drive by for Hog Calling with a live aboard flying the AR & Razorback Flags!!!! Accommodations: There were seven of us. The Hydra had ample space …. A spacious covered area (for those who enjoy being out - however may be sun sensitive) AND plenty of room for soaking in the rays. There were 2 paddle boards and plenty of noodle floaties as well as snorkel gear. They provided bottled water, sodas, beer & rum punch They recommended Lavonga for lunch and it was very good! (Lobster Salad rolls, seafood platter, oysters, burgers, fries, key lime pie, lobster guacamole, ceviche). Nice restrooms and shops. You do have to take a dingy into the dock … it was simple and safe. It was a fabulous day and the highlight of our trip! Would definitely do this again and request the Hydra with Captain Greg & Alicia!!!

Hydra is such a beautiful boat! There is so much space and very comfortable. The boat was stocked with plenty of drinks to stay hydrated throughout the day! I highly recommend this trip! Best day of vacation hands down!! The captain and crew are, hands down, the best in the VI!

I had the opportunity to charter the MV Hydra and could not have been more pleased. Seas the Day Charters and Hope made it easy to communicate plans via e-mail and was also reachable by phone. Captain Greg and his first mate Osay made our trip very memorable. Our party of eight had the opportunity to customize our trip as we prioritized The Lime Out Taco Barge as our destination. Osay was very knowledgeable about St. John and proved to be a great educator about the island. Captain Greg was kind enough to accommodate us by picking us up in St. John versus St. Thomas saving us a great deal of time. We went to a great snorkeling spot which was packed with ocean life , very calm and safe. The rum punch drinks were great. We ended up our visit with a tour of the island and saw some amazing beaches and homes. Never did we feel rushed as Captain Greg and Osay were very engaging and hospitable. They took pictures of the group unsolicited and presented us with them after the trip. This trip turned out much better than Gilligan's Island which was only a three hour tour. I would highly recommend the MV Hydra. The boat was new, clean, comfortable and quite speedy. Well worth the trip!

We originally had booked a sailing catamaran but had to cancel when our cruise line canceled our stop in St Thomas. When we got word it was back on that boat had already been booked. We got a real treat when we were offered this beautiful new boat instead! We had 8 on board but easily would have held the 12 we had initially planned. Captain Rachel and Vali greeted us, collected all of our shoes keeping the boat immaculate while helping us aboard . They gave us a quick introduction to the boat before treating us to the best day of our cruise!! So professional, knowledgeable at the same time fun and personable. She Gave us choices and catered our day around what our group wanted. She Took us to a spot to Snorkel and knew exactly where we could see Sea Turtles. Then a beautiful beach for lunch and more snorkeling, and directed us where to find choral around a boat wreck. Everyone got a little of what they wanted to make it a great day. We finished with a cruise around the harbor getting a different view of our cruise ship. SheGot us back to the dock and had called our cab who was there waiting so we could get back to the ship in plenty of time. Overall a much better excursion than those sponsored by the cruise line, avoiding those heavily trafficked spots and giving us such a memorable day!
