We had a great experience with Bonus Time Charters! From booking, to dropping us off at the resort, all went smoothly. The captain communicated effectively beforehand, and was highly knowledgeable and professional throughout the trip. He ensured the customs process was as efficient as possible. We had a n incredible day, and will definitely book again with Bonus Time when we next visit St. Thomas or St. John.

Itinerary
The following is simply a proposed itinerary. Not all destinations are guaranteed depending on timing, sea conditions, and weather. We depart from American Yacht Harbor on St. Thomas at 8:00 AM, or we will pick up guests staying on St. John in Cruz Bay at 8:00 AM.
All guests will need to clear customs on the West End of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands.
(Extended Day Option Only) Start your adventure at Devil’s Bay, a calm, picture-perfect beach surrounded by massive granite boulders. From there, you’ll make your way into The Baths, where you'll climb, duck, and squeeze through giant rock formations that feel like nature’s jungle gym. It’s an easygoing mix of fun and adventure, with glowing tidal pools and shady caves along the way. After the trek, kick back at a beach bar nearby, grab a cold drink, and soak up the views. It’s the kind of stop that reminds you why you came to the islands in the first place.
Next up is Norman Island—a spot packed with pirate legends and seriously good views. Grab lunch at Pirates Bight, a laid-back beach bar where the food’s great and the water’s just steps away. Afterward, snorkel around The Indians, one of the BVI’s top underwater sites, where coral towers and tropical fish put on a show. And if you're feeling bold, head over to the Willy T—a floating bar with plenty of character and the option to leap off the top deck straight into the Caribbean. It’s a little wild, a lot of fun, and one of the most unforgettable parts of the day.
From there, it’s off to Jost Van Dyke, one of the most beloved islands in the BVIs—and for good reason. Kick things off at Foxy’s, the legendary beach bar where the drinks are strong, the vibe is lively, and there’s always something happening. Then cruise over to White Bay, home of the Soggy Dollar Bar and the original Painkiller cocktail. You’ll hop off the boat and wade ashore, drink in hand, living the island dream. If you’re after something quieter, we’ll swing by Sandy Spit—a tiny, perfect patch of sand and sea that feels like your own private island. Jost is all about beach bars, barefoot vibes, and soaking up every last bit of paradise.
Just off Jost Van Dyke, this tiny uninhabited island is nothing more than soft white sand, a few scruffy palms, and clear turquoise water in every direction. It’s the perfect spot to swim ashore, snap a few epic photos, and feel like you’ve landed on your own private slice of paradise.
Foxy’s Tamarind Bar isn’t just a beach bar—it’s a Jost Van Dyke institution. Founded by the legendary Foxy Callwood under a tamarind tree, it’s been welcoming sailors and island hoppers for over 50 years with cold drinks, live music, and Foxy’s unforgettable stories. His dedication to the island’s culture and tourism even earned him an MBE from Queen Elizabeth II. Stop by for a cocktail and you’ll quickly see why this place is a cornerstone of BVI history.
Welcome to the Soggy Dollar Bar, birthplace of the legendary Painkiller cocktail. Since the 1970s, this tropical blend of dark rum, coconut cream, pineapple, orange juice, and a dash of fresh nutmeg has been the drink of choice for barefoot beachgoers. The name? It comes from the soggy bills of thirsty swimmers who waded in from their boats at White Bay—no dock, just good vibes and great drinks. With its laid-back charm and iconic cocktails, Soggy Dollar is a must-stop for anyone cruising the BVIs.Select 12 more words to run Humanizer.
Guests will clear customs back into the United States in Cruz Bay on St. John. Guests staying on St. John will remain there and guests on St. Thomas will head back to the island.

went to British virgin islands had a great time Capt. Andrew was excellent. highly recommended. Bonus Time Charters
If you are looking to boat around the BVIs from USVI, this is the tour for you! A great price for a private excursion and fabulous day. Captain Andrew is fantastic. He communicates very well from time of booking, and throughout the process. He answers all questions and more importantly asks some to make sure your trip is perfect for you. Andrew is a very skilled and safe captain, and cleared customs in record time. He was also very experienced and knowledgeable about traversing the islands, and the lesser known places to go. He worked with us to choose where we wanted to go and best options for that particular day taking into account the weather, cruise ships, route, timing, etc. Most places we stopped, we were either the only or one of two other private boats there. We snorkeled in fantastic, calmer spots perfect for snorkeling. So many beautiful fish and brilliant coral of different varieties. He had all the equipment (snorkels, floats, coolers, etc.) needed for a perfect day. This was our 2nd time out with Bonus Time Charters/Captain Andrew and we would not hesitate booking again or highly recommending him to others!
Loaded day of adventure and sights around the Virgin Islands. Captain Andrew was awesome with so much information about the area. Getting us to some great snorkeling spots. Highly recommend.
We had an amazing time visiting the BVIs with Captain Andrew! He took us to some great snorkeling spots around the islands and some of the highlights of the BVIs. Love that each trip is customizable to what you want to do and see! Captain Andrew is super nice and knowledgeable which made it even better. Highly recommend!
Was an ok day. HIGHLY recommend not going to British Virgin Islands. In my opinion this was a waste of money & time
Captain Bryan tailored the day to what we wanted to do. He kept us away from the cruise ship crowds and gave us history of the things we saw.
Great time!! Captain Andrew was the perfect guide. Soooo fun!!!!
Amazing trip! Captain Bryan was superior, knowledgeable, stopped everywhere we asked and did an amazing job keepingus entertained!
Captain Brian was awesome! He was able to make sure we hit all of our stops. We had a great lunch at a restaurant chosen by Captain Brian. We were impressed with the boat and overall it was an awesome day. Highly recommend and we will definitely rebook!
Captain Brian was the best! Our family of 5 communicated a few spots to hit and he customized the trip to perfection! We never felt rushed yet our day was full of movement and fun, along with a great lunch restaurant chosen by Captain Brian. He even volunteered to serve as videographer for our group jump at Willy T’s. The men in our group have boating experience and were very impressed with Captain Brian’s ability to engage with us yet our safety and enjoyment were clearly his focus. Highly recommend and we will definitely rebook on a return visit!
Amazing day with captain Andrew and Bonus Time Charters getting a tour of BVI. Thank you for our bucket list trip and unforgettable memories!
Don’t eat breakfast before- Bryan dealt with customs for us and let us know where the good breakfast spot was while we waited an hour or so for that to happen. The other option is to be drinking in the morning at Foxy’s while you wait. The kids had a blast on the boat and we got in some amazing snorkeling- saw a turtle, a ray, lots of urchins, lots of beautiful fish, and interesting coral/plants. The service at the lunch place is really slow, but the scenery can’t be beat and the kids can hang on the beach/in the water while you wait. We missed the baths, but I’m glad we opted out of the extended trip because 8 hours was a lot of boat for us lol
Awesome day on the water with Bonus Time. Brian was a great captain and helped us customize our day to take us to Jost Van Dyke, Virgin Gorda, and the Indians.
Well worth the cost! Captain Bryan made our day trip great! He has a lot of knowledge of island and pirate history which he shares with you as you travel between islands. He also knows all the great spots and eating establishments. Bryan made our day trip incredibly fun and enjoyable. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a custome day on the BVI.
Completely customized for our interests! It was a perfect day! We hopped from island to island and they took care of everything. Only wish the boat had more shade.
Immaculate boat with a very professional captain. We were able to island hop all day between the US and BVI (78 total miles) and visit multiple beaches, the baths, snorkeling at the caves, with sea turtles, and ship wrecks. Wonderful information about the area. Easy to follow instructions on how to get to the boat. Highly recommended and a great value for the adventure. The boat could take up to 10 people, but we had it to ourselves for a party of two. Started at 8am and ended at 4pm.
Very nice day aboard Andrew’s boat. He will recommend nice spots or take you wherever you want to go. Boat is good quality and Andrew is a fantastic host. Highly recommend. Would book again without hesitation.
Capt Brian was great. Very knowledgeable of the area and found my family a great spot to snorkel w sea turtles and stingrays. The process to get into BVI is obnoxious (1-1.5 hrs) but to no fault of the charter. Overall the charter exceeded our expectations with plenty of snorkel time as well as time on Jost Van Dyke to grab some painkillers at Soggy Dollar. Oh, Brian also planned it so we had enough time to squeeze in a stop at the Pizza Pi boat Thanks again Brian and team. Josh Jordan and family
Absolute great time with Bonus Time and Capt Andrew! Stopped at all of our favorite spots and Capt Andrew introduced us to a few new ones! Highly recommend!
Great experience! Captain Andrew took us to some great locations in the BVIs. Virgin Gorda, Norman Island a must. Thank you!
We had an amazing day with Andrew! He was informative on what to expect for our trip to BVI! We were able to do everything we wanted and had plenty of time to enjoy each stop. You will not be disappointed if you book with him! Thanks for an amazing experience, Andrew!
This was an ideal family day on the water. Andrew was so thoughtful and had everything well planned before we arrived and the day was seamless. We don’t get that much family time all together because of the kids busy lives, so it was so amazing to have this incredible day together that was meticulously planned for us so we could just relax. Even with all of the planning Andrew was able to tailor the trip to exactly what would be the most fun for us as the day unfolded. We would 100% book this exact charter again.
One of the top travel experiences with my family. This is a must when visiting the USVI. Andrew is a great captain— very knowledgeable and able to create a perfect day for each group. We traveled with our 20 month old and 7 year old— no problem. We never felt rushed and saw so much— went through the Baths, lunch, snorkeling and plenty of beach time with great drinks! After you book your airfare and accommodation, book this trip! Also Andrew is a fellow MSU grad, go green, go white!
We did a private dive charter in the BVI. Andrew showed up promptly and gave us a great rundown on how the day would go. We dove the Wreck of the Rhone which was outstanding. We then dove the original Willy T which was an amazing dive. We then went to Pirates Bight for lunch, I had the most amazing smoked Wahoo sandwich. We ended the day snorkeling and floating in the beautiful water at the caves of Norman Island. It was a wonderful trip and I strongly recommend using Bonus Time Charters. I know we will definitely be using them again!
Captain Matt was excellent. Knew when to hit Customs and which parts of the Islands to see to have a great overall experience. We could not have asked for a better day at BVI.
Captain Andrew is fantastic and his equipment is top notch. Great communication and knowledge of the area with plenty of options to customize your trip. We will definitely use him again.
Captain Andrew was probably the best captain we have had on several charters we have done in the past few years. He was able to get us to as many spots as we wanted on our ambitious plan - weather and lack of people were in our favor! Definitely recommend paying for the extended day as you will not be disappointed.
Awesome day. Had time to go to Gorda Baths, lunch at Pirate’s Bight, and a little snorkeling at Norman Island. Andy was an exceptional Captain.
We had a super fun day on the water with Andrew, who owns Bonus Time. We've taken a lot of private charters over the years and found him to be one of our favorite captains. He was easy going and good with the kids (8 and 10), listened to our preferences and made suggestions based on the conditions. The boat was clean, comfortable and had plenty of room for the 4 of us (although is limited in shade). We visited the Norman Island caves and the "aquarium" and found snorkeling to be quite good (although not as good as Caneel Bay on another trip). Lunch at Norman's Bight was perfect - a beautiful setting and classy restaurant (this is not a dive beach bar). Our time at Soggy Dollar was a bit rushed but we wanted to include Sandy Spit so that was our doing. With this itinerary, our gas bill was $350. Customs took 40 minutes on the way there and almost an hour on the way back so account for that in your day. The day goes by too fast! We would highly recommend Andrew and Bonus Time!
Captain Andrew took us to the Baths which was absolutely beautiful and then to Norman Island for an amazing lunch and snorkeling. He is a great Captain. We felt safe the entire trip. Highly recommend we had such an amazing day!!
Had an amazing day with family and friends on board Bonus Time with Captain Andrew. Traveled 70 plus miles across the water! We enjoyed the Baths in Virgin Gorda. lunch on Norman Island, snorkeling Indian Caves BVI, and a final stop at the Soggy Dollar on Jost Van Dyke. Captain Andrew is the best! He is very knowledgeable and did an amazing job with getting us everywhere we wanted to go on schedule!! His customer service is outstanding!!
Spent the day with Captain Andrew and 5 others. Simply a magical day on the water visiting islands, snorkeling and enjoying the weather. Couldn’t recommend it more!
Capt Andrew picked us up Cruz Bay at 8 AM sharp and we headed straight to Tortola West End to beat the rush at BVI customs which can be a long wait. This allowed us to have time to go to the Baths at Virgin Gorda, Norman Island for lunch and snorkeling, and still have time to stop at Jost Van Dyke and get drinks at Soggy Dollar! It’s best to go on a day when there’s no cruise ship at Tortola so that the crowds at the Baths are not bad. Andrew was very accommodating and family friendly for my family of 6. His boat had plenty of room for 6, but it does travel fast and you feel the waves and may get wet. But it’s worth it to get to your destinations efficiently.
We had a fantastic time on this excursion, and our captain was very fun and friendly. We did a lot of excursions over the course of our week-long stay, but this is the one that we couldn't stop talking about. If you have to choose only one thing to do while you're staying on St John/St Thomas, this should be it!
Andrew was an amazing host and captain. Very kind and respectful!!!!! His boating was spectacular and he took us to all the amazing places. We went to the Baths then snorkeling at Indians and the Caves, lunch on Norman island and then a quick drink at Jost Van Dyke. Everything about the day was exceptional. He graciously warned us that the baths could be a choppy ride over (they were an hour ride from tortola) and crowded but we still wanted to go. It was not a bad ride (minimal choppy waves) and not super crowded when we went! Super amazing day!
This was a life long memory creation with family. We did lots of stops including beautiful scenery above and below the oven. Lunch was on a private island that only had the one eatery. A spectacular place. It’s a memory for the books. Andrew (the captain) was a great guide and a wealth of understanding of how to make these trips truly memorable. Thank you Andrew!!
We had a full day of sights, snorkeling, and stops to eat and explore. Andrew, the captain is very knowledgeable providing insights and suggestions for a very memorable excursion! Highly recommend!
Had a great experience! Captain Andrew was very informative and accommodating! we were nervous considering we had 3 little ones on boat but captain Andrew made us feel comfortable and welcomed! We went from St.Thomas to The BVI and we are so happy we booked because it was perfect, no better way to do it then a private charter through Bonus Time charters.
We had a wonderful experience! If you are on the fence, you should absolutely book this trip! Family of four - two boys 8 &10 went out Tuesday August 20th. Easy departure from marina in Red Hook. We powered over to Tortola and Captain Andrew handled customs check in. Took about 20 minutes (low season). From there we visited the caves, the Indians, pirates bite beach (restaurant was closed but good sea turtle viewing), jumped off the pirate ship, went to the Soggy Dollar and the sand spit. It was nice that we could decide how much time to spend place to place. The Soggy Dollar was a really fun time - gorgeous gorgeous beach, decent food, fun vibes. The snorkeling spots we hit were awesome and the boat provided fins and snorkel gear. While motoring between spots Captain Andrew played music. The scenery was just stunning and the ride was so awesome. We had a quick check in with customs on Saint John and then back to the marina in St Thomas. It was SO MUCH FUN. The boat provided water and a cooler for your own snacks and beverages. If you are price sensitive do take note of the extra fees - fuel surcharge (around $350), customs fees $80 pp and of course a tip for very excellent service. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
We had an awesome time with our Captain Andrew. He made sure we could enjoy this day. He was very friendly and professional. We enjoyed every minute of our trip. We would definitely go back and also recommend Andrew as your captain.
We booked a full-day charter with 7 friends and it was AMAZING. Captain Andrew was awesome and the whole day was a ton of fun. It is a great way to see more than just one spot. The boating between stops was super fun and I cannot recommend these guys enough! If you are chattering a boat for a day, you need to use them!
We used Bonus Time for a private, full day, 7 person charter. Captain Andrew was awesome and super personable! The rides between stops were super fun and filled with music and laughs! You need to use Bonus Time if you are thinking of exploring the areas around St. Thomas and St. John!
We chartered Bonus Time for a full day in the British Virgin Islands. We had a fabulous time! We were five adults and two boys age 10 and 11 on the trip. We went to the Baths after clearing in at the West End of Tortola, then we had lunch at Pirates Bite on Norman Island (excellent) then snorkeled the Indians before heading back to clear in on St. John and then home to St. Thomas. The boat is comfortable, in excellent condition and very very fast, so we were able to fit in all of that comfortably. The snorkeling gear that was provided was in tiptop shape, and perfect for everyone's use, even the boys. There's plenty of shade, plenty of storage space and great entrance and exit for snorkeling. Steve, our captain, was friendly and professional and accommodating. Highly recommend!!!!
We had the best time on our day-long tour of the BVIs on a beautiful and comfortable boat. Captain Andrew was absolutely the best!! He set up our day according to our requests, showed us all the most beautiful sights, and delivered us to a delicious lunch spot. Highly recommend - make sure you request Captain Andrew.
Had a fabulous day trip from St. John to the BVI’s with captain Andrew. Andrew was so kind and knowledgeable. We were able to visit the Baths at Virgin Gorda then lunch at Norman Island with a beautiful view and finished our day with cocktails at Soggy Dollar on Jost Van Dyke.
Andrew, our Captain, was wonderful! He was able to coordinate our trip so that we were able to successfully do everything! From our trip to the Baths, lunch in Norman Island, a stop at Jost Van Dyke for a drink at Soggy dollar and even some snorkeling...we never felt rushed! It was the best private experience ever! We were able to see and do so much! We were truly grateful for the experience. Highly recommend!
