Private Day Sail & Snorkel With Virgin Islands Day Sailing, 6 Guest Max

Booked a private charter for just my bride and myself. We were on a 38’ Beneteau piloted by Captain Darren. Darren provided great history on the islands and made us feel welcome and safe. We visited two snorkeling spots and were able to see a couple unique critters. We were fortunate to see a Spotted Eagle Ray on our first stop and a Slipper Lobster on our second stop. We would recommend booking this trip to get a well rounded experience in one day and make sure you request the muppets greatest hits playlist if Capt Darren is your Captain

We can’t say enough good about this incredible activity! We were recommended by another charter who filled up, and so glad we were! It was an amazing private sail for not much more than the cost of the “big group” charters with people packed on board. We are a family of six ranging from tweens to grandparents. We’ve done multiple snorkeling and water trips before, but this was the best. First of all, our captain, Darren, grew up in the Virgin Islands and it’s obvious that he really knows the area. He’s been sailing and boating his whole life around the world, including sailing competitions and sailing from Central America all the way to New Zealand! so we felt very secure with him and loved his colorful stories. He took us snorkeling to a couple wonderful sites modifying the itinerary as we went according to prevailing conditions. There was a stiff wind, but we were actually very comfortable in his 38 foot boat. He found nice quiet coves where we could do our snorkeling. Don’t worry, if he feels like the weather is too choppy, he will cancel and give your money back. He made a wonderful lunch for us with grilled chicken, pasta, salad, and drinks. The boat is beautiful and we mostly enjoyed just being under sale out on the ocean in the Virgin Islands with good shade. A trip of a lifetime! I can’t recommend it highly enough. The only note I would make is that we came in on a Disney Cruise so we had to catch a taxi 30 minutes one way to Sapphire Beach Marina, where we picked up his charter. We will definitely repeat this trip if we ever make it back to St. Thomas. Thanks so much for a great day on the water!

Highlight of trip to St Thomas. With a maximum of 6 passengers, it is very comfortable sitting in the cockpit. Much better than an overcrowded catamaran. The sailboat has a low stern (back end) so its very easy getting into/out of the water. The captain is very accommodating regarding course of sail and location/duration at stops and gave us lots of information on the islands. A small grill mounted on the stern railing produced a very nice grilled chicken lunch. We saw a stingray and turtles on our stops along with plenty of fish. A wonderful, relaxing, fun filled day.

Captain Kendall provided a sailing day we won’t forget. His expert sailing and knowledge of the islands made our trip memorable and so much fun! He brought us to wonderful snorkeling locations and served a delicious lunch. We can’t wait to go again next year. Highly recommend you book with VI Day Sailing.

A wonderful experience. The boat was very well maintained and comfortable. Once out of the Harbor, Captain Kendall's objective was to sail 100% of the time (no motor), and take us where we would snorkel/swim away from any crowd. He delivered. I emphasize the rarity of both, as many of the larger snorkeling/cruises (booze cruise - which can be fun) were not actually sailing (running a diesel motor) and high tourist density can mean that popular reefs are crowded. If you actually want to sail and snorkel, this small group experience with an excellent caption is well worth paying a few extra pennies for. Captain Kendall is a great sailor, knowledgeable storyteller, relaxed and very friendly. He lives the life he shared with us; Priceless. I would guess the other Captains are great too, but it wouldn't hurt to ask when he sails.

Great trip. Our captain, Addison, was born in Saint Thomas and knows the waters and the lore of the USVI. He took us to three great snorkeling spots and provided plenty of food and drinks. The boat was comfortable for all.

My wife and I took a private sailing and snorkeling trip with Captain Kendall. The Captain is a very experienced and knowledgeable islander and took us to some spots on St Johns and Little St James that we had not visited previously. We are experienced snorkelers and the locations were somewhat remote and full of diverse sea life. We saw many large schools of colorful fish as well as rays, turtles, eagle rays and even a black tip reef shark! Kendall also made us a delicious lunch and served us excellent beverages. During the course of our trip, the Captain shared his deep and insightful knowledge of island geography and history. We definitely plan on booking another trip with Captain Kendall and Virgin Island Day Sailing!

Excellent day on the boat with Kendall. We sailed (not motored) to two different snorkeling spots where we saw 6+ sea turtles and lots of other fish. Kendall made us a great lunch and drinks, told plenty of stories, and made the day very enjoyable for our family of four (ages 21-60).

Highly recommend!! Kendall was a great captain (and chef and bartender). We learned a lot, saw amazing reef life, and had a blast!

Amazing experience—highly recommend! Despite starting in rain, the day turned beautiful, and the sailing was fantastic. Kendall was a terrific captain and host, full of knowledge about the islands. It was just my husband and me in St. Thomas, and we met four wonderful people on board.

What a great day!! Tommy the captain and Kayla, his first mate, were delightful and so easy to plan our day trip with. They picked us up in the 40’ Beneteau promptly at 9 am. The boat was clean and well maintained. Tommy is knowledgeable and confident at the helm and made even the first time sailor feel right at home! We sailed to 3 blissful coves, Lovongo, Scott and Christmas where anchor was dropped and off we went snorkeling. All equipment was supplied. The locations were picture perfect and empty (due to being off season!) A lunch of grilled chicken, pasta salad and watermelon was provided and plenty of rum punch, painkillers and tequila. Tommy is a wealth of knowledge about the islands, their history, and fun facts. The 6 hr day flew by and we’d definitely book with Tommy and Virgin Island Day Sailing again!!

Captain Tommy and Kayla did an amazing job of planning our adventure. We had three snorkeling stops intermixed with sailing and and a fantastic lunch of grilled chicken, veggie pasta, and watermelon. We were treated to rays and turtles during our snorkeling. The winds were perfect for sailing. It was a totally amazing adventure. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Captain Kendall made the experience AWESOME! He was captain,tour guide,chef,waiter and bartender! We were able to visit 2 spots to snorkel and saw turtles , stingrays, and lots of different fish! Pasta salad and chicken for lunch- yummy This sailing was the highlight of our trip to St Thomas! It was a private tour for just the 6 of us.

We are a family of six that had a great time sailing and snorkeling with Captain Sam and Gabby. This was a day we will remember for a long time. The sailing and snorkeling were awesome. The boat was clean with plenty of space. The beaches were amazing. Snorkeling was fun and we saw turtles, stingrays, nurse sharks and different types of fish. Sam and Gabby were attentive, helpful and gave us information about the islands. Gabby gave us many tips regarding shopping and places to see on St. Johns. They truly were wonderful. We had an amazing day! Such kind people with great local information, history, and incites into the islands. We stopped in three beautiful snorkeling areas and I won’t ever forget the experience. Lunch was great and served on white linens! I was here with my sister and our mother to celebrate her 70th birthday, and this day trip was the perfect way to celebrate. Highly recommend!

We’ve been on island over 20 years and I’ve taken many day excursions This was by far the best And it was especially great because we celebrated my grandsons 12th birthday Mark is a seasoned captain with extensive knowledge and humor about the trip. We've been on Island 20 years & have experienced a multitude of day sails excursions etc. This was one of the best. Captain Mark & mate Rusty were outstanding. from boarding to snorkeling gilled seasoned chicken & pasta salad lunch. Expert guide by Rusty to the best snorkeling spots in the VI. We did a full day private sail with Captain Mark and First Mate Rusty. They are truly professionals who know the water and the islands. Winds were unusually swift to the east so they adapted and took us to two different snorkeling locations near St. James island and south side of St. Thomas. Both locations were just us … no other moored parties to contend with. Rusty was in the water with us if we had any questions or needed any help. A highlight was seeing a reef shark and a lion fish in addition to the thousands of other fish we saw, even squid and lobsters. Both Mark and Rusty are very personable and have good stories to tell. Mark is an excellent captain and cook (for grilled lunch) and Rusty an excellent first mate and kept our drink cups full. This was our second trip with Virgin Islands Day Sailing and we will be back for more! Highly recommended.

We had an awesome time with virgin island day sailing yesterday! we saw lots of sea life, turtles, stingrays, and starfish on our trip. Mark and Rusty are awesome! The food on the trip was great we went with family and had an awesome time snorkeling sailing, and the drinks were awesome we would definitely do this again with virgin islands day sailing. When we booked our flights and accommodations in St. Thomas months in advance, we also booked with VI Day Sailing to secure our spot. We did the private full day sailing and snorkeling adventure and it was nothing short of exceptional. It was the highlight of our family trip…..again which is why we booked well in advance. Mark and Rusty are just really good people. The views and coral they took us to was nothing short of spectacular. Safety was a priority and well appreciated. You can’t go wrong here, highly recommend.

If you are considering this trip just stop now and book it! My wife and I and our three daughters (18, 21 and 23) had a fantastic time. The Frances Anne (the boat) is clean and comfortable. It's a perfect fit for 6, especially when my girls were up on the bow getting some sun. The sailing and motoring were smooth and easy. The snorkeling was safe and truly amazing. The grilled chicken and the pasta (and the Painkillers) hit the spot after lots of sun and water. Mark and Rusty are professionals and truly good people you will enjoy spending your day with. Honestly, book this one and you will not be disappointed!

This was an awesome experience. Mark and Rusty were amazing hosts. The sailing and snorkeling was fantastic. We saw lots of colorful fish, stingrays, a small nurse shark and giant sea turtles. The food was great. Our original trip was canceled due to weather and they managed to reschedule us to another day. It was the highlight of our vacation. I would highly recommend this company for a small, intimate trip.

This was an awesome addition to our vacation! We had never been to the USVI before, and booking this tour was the cherry on top to an already wonderful vacation. Mark and Jess were very skilled, knowledgeable, and hospitable. We felt right at home with them. They knew the history behind certain places, the best snorkeling spots, specific types of coral and sea life we were seeing, and even took us a different way back to St. Thomas just so we could see rare birds! The snorkeling was top notch- we saw many turtles, beautiful fish, and breathtaking corals. Lunch was served on a white tablecloth- seriously! This was a fantastic experience that we will remember for a lifetime. We will definitely book with them again when we return to the USVI and highly recommend them to family and friends!

Luckily we booked on a Tuesday when Jess, local marine biologist was crew. We learned so much! We sailed to 3 snorkeling locations and were served beverages and a delicious lunch (not sandwiches). Captain Mark is a skilled sailor and host. And, unlike other east end locations, the Sapphire Beach Marina has ample free parking. From start to finish we were out 6 hours on a beautiful day.

My son and his wife had joined us from Vancouver BC for this USVI vacation and I felt badly we weren’t having better weather. Mark and Rusty saved the week! They took us to 3 secluded snorkeling spots. My husband said he got better advice on what to see where than we’ve had in all our trips. We saw turtles, a big barracuda and a glimpse of an octopus. We did have a short rainfall and the crew supplied us with rain jackets that kept us warm and dry. The lunch of chicken skewers and pasta salad hit the spot. Bar tender extraordinaire Rusty kept us supplied with painkillers, rum punch and local beer. We loved the almost private charter experience and it was a great way for my kids to end the week before they leave tomorrow. We hop to be back!

Great snorkeling! Being on a sailboat with a max of 6 people is the way to go, unless you like a loud & huge crowd, bumping into others when snorkeling, and getting drunk. Mark & Rusty were great and informative. Very relaxing.

The full day sail was great. Rusty and Matt knew the best places to go based on brisk winds and current conditions the day we sailed. An excellent grilled lunch with pasta salad was served and a variety of drinks were offered, without limit. Only disappointment was the condition of the coral reef where we snorkeled. Not their fault as this is a far reaching problem. Still saw some beautiful fish and turtles. The sailing alone was worth the trip.

Our day sailing with Marc and Rusty was the best day of our vacation. They provided us with a top-notch experience, including a delicious lunch and wonderful service throughout the day. They both had incredible insight on what we were seeing and shared great stories with us. They also took impeccable care and making sure we were Set up for snorkeling. even the music was perfect for a day of sailing.
