We really enjoyed our night kayak tour! Our guide, Shirvel, was very friendly and knowledgeable. We had such a good time!

Upon arrival, our tour guide Shirvel greeted us and got us checked in. She gave a swift but thorough safety brief and overall orientation about the adventure. Out on the water she was amazing with her knowledge of the fish and marine wild life. I say this because I didn’t know the bottom of the kayaks are see through and they have kewl LED lights that illuminate the surrounding water. You will see a lot of fish chasing other fish and some may even jump in your kayak, lol… Shirvel made this outing very exciting and memorable. If you get a chance to go night kayaking, please do so, you will not be disappointed… Thanks again Shirvel!!!
This was an amazing, great fun experience Justin Dennis and I think her name is Chevelle were amazing. They are knowledgeable. They were fun. We had a great time. It’s a must do for everybody. Just wear bug spray if you’re doing it because of the noseeums on the beach at night. Otherwise, everything was an amazing great experience with this group.
Staff was very friendly and very helpful with our big group. Was very attentive and talked of the history which was very nice as well. Thank you ao much for the amazing time and beautiful views. Would definitely do this tour again was alot of fun for our entire group.
Nice experience . Guide and others on tour were awesome and friendly. We had a great time. Very relaxing.
This was such a unique experience that I’ve been wanting to do for years, and our last activity before leaving the island to go back home. Shirvel, our guide, went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our time kayaking. She took several pictures, took her time trying to find starfish and gave clear directions on what to do. She was kind and patient with us as well. We ended up seeing a few starfish, a sea turtle and sting ray. Our eight year old daughter came with us and she enjoyed the glow necklaces/bracelets and face paint.
Wow, what a magical time! We went for our Honeymoon. Two feet outside our resort stay at the Elysian. Friendly people, helpful staff and the coolest night kayak experiance! We say sea urchins, tropical fish, tarpin and even a sea turtle! I recommend doing this tour with a new/no moon, but anytime is a good time. Thank you to Bernard and his lady counterpart for making it an experiance we will never forget! The complimentary rum punch drinks at the end really pushed the experiance over the edge at the end. Cheers!!!
This was a fun experience. One of my friend’s boat lights went out and the guide was able to problem solve efficiently. Additionally another guest’s phone fell in the water and our guide was able to retrieve it and refocus with the rest of the group in a timely manner. I enjoyed the stories and tips of where to look for different sea life. We saw a lot of terrapin, some sea stars, and needle fish.
Chevelle was a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. She found starfish, tarpon, and an eagle ray. Loved being on the water at night.
It was a nightmare. They didn’t have enough kayaks with lights so they put two people in each kayak even if it was too much weight for the kayak. It was ok until the water was choppy. They brought one couple back and put them in separate kayaks but that was all they had. They told us to keep the nose of the kayak pinned into the waves so we wouldn’t get water coming in the boat. Our lights went out twice and they came and switched out the battery. When we were at the farthest passer out we had water covering the top edge of the kayak. The guides pulled our kayak and one other one that was under water.
Has been wanting to try this for some time and this year, with friends who had never be to ST, we gave it a try. Very enjoyable. Only reason didnt give it 5* was because we didnt see a lot of fish, but that isnt their fault. Our adult son and d-in-law did it last year and saw lots of fish, especially tarpons. We saw a couple and a few others but it was a beautiful night, excellent and knowledgeable guide. calm ocean, and strong rum punch to end the night. It is cool to look through the see through bottom and even if dont see fish, can still see down to the sea bed. Would certainly consider doing it again
Great experience. Brian was a great host. We saw many tarpon. Many laughs and always great being on the water.
Brian was awesome. Tour was relaxed and saw hundreds of fish. Kayaks were well maintained and the lights just magnified a great experience. Would love to do this again during our next visit
Matt was a fantastic guide. And the experience was so peaceful. Our group was Hoping to see more types of fish and sea critters.
We had so much fun on this tour! The kayaks are illuminated which draws the fish to your boat! You see them pass underneath!
Great experience and family-friendly. Chevelle was our guide and she was great. We had a great time and wished it went longer but definitely an enjoyable experience. A must do!!
Had a marvelous time the host was great and very friendly. I appreciate how the host took time to ensure we were all taken care of.
I would like to thank sailor for an amazing kayaking experience! I really appreciated your guidance, knowledge, and patience throughout the tour. You made it fun, safe, and unforgettable. I’ll definitely recommend this to others and hope to come back someday.
Sailor was amazing and very patient with our group as we were learning to navigate our kayaks. I felt very safe while still having a lot of fun. The experience was terrific and I’d like to do this again. Thank you Sailor!
Had a great time. Jostin was a great guide and he takes the best pictures. If you go on any tour, this is the one to take. Hopefully you get Jostin.
This was a wonderful adventure. Went with my daughter and had a great time. Our guide was amazing and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend.
Coda was absolutely the best, hands down. He was so patient, great instructor, and it was quite the adventure! The night had some unexpected wind, choppy waters, but his guidance in navigating the ocean was so reassuring. He's a wealth of knowledge and lucky me, I had a needlenose fish hop into our kayak towards the end of the tour causing me to loose concentration as I was trying not to sit on it, brought lots of unexpected laughter and nerves at the same time. Coda sang us a song adverb he found out we were celebrating our 25 year anniversary. Quite the experience for sure, memories to cherish forever!
We are staying in a condo in Cowpet Bay West (highly recommend!) and stumbled upon the water sports for the Elysian hotel on the beach. I have travelled the world and been to USVI half a dozen times and this is one of the coolest activities I have ever done! It was so gorgeous to leave at sunset and the water was so clear! We saw so many fish and starfish and just had the best time! We had never even kayaked before and it was very easy. Thank you Coda & Chevelle for the best night!
This was a great tour! The guides were all really nice, fun and knowledgeable. They seem to really have fun doing the tours. We saw a lot of sea life. Even if we hadn't seen any sea life the night kayaking is really fun and relaxing. The tour guides took a lot of great pics and videos that they shared with us. Would do this again anytime!
We had a great night for illuminated kayaking out of Elysian Resort. Handy for us since we were staying there. Chevelle knew where to find tarpon, starfish and rays. We got to see a very fast Eagle Ray under our kayak! Coda took great pictures, which was tough because there were alot of people on our tour that night. Thank you both! Highly recommend this tour!
Our guide was great very informative and fun . Really took the time to point out the sea life in the area. The clear bottom boat was great for viewing. Highly recommended for an affordable trip for family.
This was super coool, Alex was amazing. Showed us a great time definitely worth the money 10/10! Coral reef! Beautiful fish, sting ray star fish coral etc. it was a great experience
Alex was an amazing tour guide. Super knowledgeable and cool. First time kayaking and on the islands and had an amazing experience!
The guides were very nice but I would never do this again. My husband and I are not very large people but the kayak would not support the 2 of us together. That had him by himself and me with the 5th from another group. Then the light in our kayak went out over and over. We spent time with the guides trying to fix it over and over which took away from our time. Then in the end the light in the back we were able to keep on but not the light where I was sitting. We saw a few tarpon and starfish before it went out but I would never recommend this to anyone. I spent more time looking up at the stars after the light went out than in the water because I couldn't see anything.
Super cool!! Definitely worth it! Saw some big fish! Small group of people! Water is so warm! Would do again!
Our host and guide Chevelle welcomed us warmly, provided operating instructions and life jackets, and we explored the cove for a wonderful peaceful nighttime ride. The clear-bottom kayak and lights provided us with a unique experience to observing the sea life in their environment. For me, as a frequent cruiser, I loved doing a nighttime excursion when normally we would be back on board a ship. We saw sea urchins, needle fish, some jelly fish type invertebrates, but not much else due to the week of storms leading up to our ride. Highly recommend this easy excursion as it wasn’t too challenging - we paddled slowly. Nor was it hot as the sun was set. Finally we didn’t feel afraid even though it was Half Moon. It was gorgeous and peaceful.
She was really good. Great experience. Amazing sea life to see. Very friendly, would go again! If everyone in your group is a full grown adult, might not want to share kayaks.
This was the worst activity that our family did all week. Our guides were 2 young girls, not sure of their name as they did not offer them. I thought they were also guests as well as when we walked up, they were taking pics by the sign. But no, they were taking us out. They got the kayaks out and then went to get drinks for themselves at the bar as we put on our life jackets. There were no instructions. This was not a guided tour at all. They only told us they saw a crab and pointed out nothing. There was no history. Just paddled out and sat in the bay in the middle of all the moated sailboats. The two of them paddled and drifted far away from our kayaks and they were taking selfies with each other! They were on FaceTime calls! I couldn’t believe it really. When we paddled in they only said “we work for tips so…” They were on FaceTime and taking selfies and drinking their drinks from the bar! It was awful for my family! Would not recommend.
Fantastic! We are first time kayakers, and it was a breeze. We enjoyed seeing the fish through the lighted glass of the kayak. Our tour guide was patient and fun. We would do it again and again!
Such a unique experience for the family. Seeing the tarpon sparkling in the light as they hunted for fish was amazing. Even without the marine life, it was still beautiful just kayaking around and enjoying the sunset and the night sky. Shirvel was a great tour guide!
Shirvel was an absolutely fantastic guide. Our group had members who were kayaking for the first time, and her instructions were clear and concise. This was a great way to spend time with family and friends. We went out from Elysian Resort, and we were able to see St. John and St. Croix from where we were. The lights attracted Turpin and a few other small fish.
Trip was canceled due to rough waters we were told we would receive refund it has been almost 2 weeks and still no refund,
Kayak night - such an amazing evening on the water. Kai was awesome - making sure we had some history and took time to show us why he loves the island and especially the life under water.
Very cool experience! It was cool to see under the kayak especially once it got dark! Kai was an awesome guide throughout the tour!
This tour was an amazing experience. I highly recommend it! Kai was our guide, and he was knowledgeable on the sea life as well as where to take us to try and see it. We saw many tarpon hunting, a turtle, and other small fish.
Great time! The waves were a little choppy so it made it a little more difficult to see below, but we were still able to see a few creatures and coral. We’re doing this again the next time we return!
Gabe , the tour guide was very sweet and knowledgeable. He made our evening fun and even climbed in a coconut tree at the end of the tour to serve us some fresh cocktail made of coconut milk .
First-time night kayaking. We were the only couple. It was a bit scary because it was a bit choppy but in goods hands with Jordan. Thanks for the rum punch!
This was an awesome experience. Very relaxing and our guide Ronnie was amazing! Ronnie was a great guide.
We showed up at 6 (like the tickets said), and were told we had to wait until 7, because it wasn’t dark yet. No big deal, but it could’ve been planned better. Our group was 3 adults, so we had 2 tandems. One person rode with the guide. The guide didn’t really seem to know where to take us, so we ended up milling around the boats in the harbor the whole time, staring at the sandy bottom. We didn’t see anything, other than a school of silver fish that swam under us. Otherwise it was just sand. It was pretty choppy and wavy, so it was lucky everyone in our group was very experienced at kayaking - it might have been a bit unsafe for an inexperienced group. The guide himself didn’t seem to be all that experienced at kayaking. We couldn’t hear him at all from the other boat, but the person who rode with him said at one point he asked her to steer, even though she was in the front of the boat. He didn’t share any fun facts or any information at all…it ended up just being a paddle out into the night and back. Two stars just for it being a nice warm windy night, but it was a pretty awkward birthday gift to give my dad.
Kayak had no back support so I had to stay in a constant sit up. I could not maintain that position so had to end the trip before it even began. Our guide was wonderful helpful and understanding.
We had fun taking the night kayak tour with Eduardo. He was very knowledgeable of the area and the glass bottom kayaks made it easy to see beautiful coral. Try it!
I really enjoyed this Kayak tour. The tour guides are helpful and friendly. The kayaks have a clear bottom, which made the experience even more unique and exciting.
1st time kayaking at night. Whether or not you have kayaked before, the guides are pleasant and accommodating. They give you a tutorial beforehand and also make sure you're paddling correctly, while in the ocean, to stay with the group. Between the sunset, the island history, the moonlight and the rum punch I was very pleased!
This was my first time kayaking on the ocean and at sunset. We didn’t get to see any marine life but it was still such a great experience. Ed and Matt were great guides. They were both very knowledgeable and friendly. I’d definitely do this again if I come back to the island. The rum punch at the end of the tour was a bonus as well.
