We ended up having fun but we didn't get what was advertised. We also did NOT get what the company has shown on their testimonials online (which is why I am writing this review). They outsourced our private 6 hour tour (which wasn't cheap) to a large safari style taxi basically which was in really really bad shape. The driver was friendly enough but he didn't speak to us. We received 0 guidance or information from him. So, not as advertised. They offered a partial refund after we shared our feedback, which is a nice gesture, but it isn't about money. We had 6 hours to see the island and while the island itself was welcoming and beautiful, this "tour" was a disappointment.

Java was a great tour guide. He educated us about the whole island. We were supposed to have an open air vehicle but ended up with a van unfortunately.
This was a private family tour. Tony was awesome! Great tour and knowledgeable. He took us where we wanted. He also stopped by Brooks Bar on way to Megans beach to pre-order our awesome lunch. At beach, he took us to the less crowded area. Fun family time. Worth the extra cost for private tour!!
We had a great day exploring St. Thomas with Love! He was a fun guide and his knowledge of the island was just what we were looking for. He joined us for a nice lunch at his friends local restaurant. I would highly recommend this company.
We did a private tour just our family total of seven of us and Java Jackson was our tour guide he pointed out many views stops along the way for great pictures a lot of history details and stories along the tour great highly recommended
We were in St. Thomas for the day on a cruise ship and picked up this tour dock side. The tour was good, but unbeknownst to us, it was actually like a HOHO tour, as people were getting off and on at different stops. The original two hour tour turned out to be a 3+ hour tour, and was very interesting. We went to various parts of the island seeing look outs and beaches and items of interest. At the end of the tour, we were dropped in the town centre and walked back to the ship. For $25, this tour is excellent value.
As St. Thomas was one stop on our cruise I booked and paid the 10:30 AM tour in advance. Received a confirmation for this tour but several days later a reschedule to the 11:30 AM - no explanation given. To make a long story short - we ended up not taking the tour (also due to the time change) and politely asked whether we would receive a partial refund (since we did not utilize any of the services). Answer was that any no-show or cancellation will not be refunded, not even partially. Hey, thanks for that great service!
Booked through Viator while in the BVI in May 2015. I had a free day because 2 of my tours cancelled. I booked this day tour on St. Thomas. Took the ferry from Tortola to St. Thomas and met up with the tour after breakfast. Mr. Sunny is quite charismatic. Very entertaining tour with his company. We saw beautiful ocean and island views from higher elevations on the island. Went to a large store where they make banana daiquiris. Line was very long to buy one and then we pretty much were starting to leave when some of us were still in line. Sunny gave us the option of 2 local beaches to go snorkelling on, then dropped us for a little over an hour at each location. There you could rent gear and a locker. Then he came and picked us up after. I wasn't returning to the cruise ship port as the others since I had come from the BVI. I had asked at the start if I could be dropped at the other ferry terminal, and he agreed. So I ended up at the terminal I needed to return to the BVI. It was in the direction after the beach visit. Had a very nice time and also very beautiful sunny day on St. Thomas taking this tour.
This tour company came highly recommended by family due to the fun party atmosphere. There were certainly some times of fun driving around the island listening to loud music, but these were overshadowed by the feeling of disorganization, long waits, and crowds. We were in port on a day when there were four cruise ships at St Thomas. Because of this, there were many people trying to see the same attractions. The staff of Sunny Liston, however, didn't seem to be prepared for the logistics of this. In addition, it seemed more important to the tour company to cram as many people as possible onto each bus rather than to make sure people got to where they were going in a timely manner. Each row of the bus was required to have at least five people, regardless of the size of said people; and buses waited until they were full before they proceeded to the next destination. The result of the busy day in port and the tour company's profit motives was, unfortunately, that we ended up waiting A LOT. We waited at the shopping area and at the Mountaintop for long after they asked us to rendezvous, and we also waited in the bus at the beach for at least twenty minutes. By the time the tour was half over, we were ready to head back; it was no longer any fun to be herded like cattle and crowded in with strangers (who were also cranky due to being herded and crowded). We opted not to spend any time at the beach, but those who did ended up almost missing the ship because Sunny Liston underestimated the traffic getting back to the port. I appreciate what the company is trying to do: inject some fun and lively atmosphere into the tour experience. Unfortunately, this goal is greatly undermined by the drive to get as many people as possible onto the buses, and the lack of planning with traffic and congestion. Next time, we will choose a more laid-back activity, and there will be two more spaces on the Sunny Liston bus.
St. Thomas is one of my most favourite places in the world. Everyone is so friendly and they are not pushy at all. Because we only had a day to spend there (on a cruise) Sunny Liston Tours made the most of it. Start you off with shopping, then sightseeing, and wrap it up at the beach. This company gets you to public and resort beaches. If you get the chance, make sure you go to Sapphire Beach. Gave 4 stars instead of 5 because there was an issue with timing of it all. Dropped us off at shops and said come back to meeting place at 1230. They arrive closer to 1 and mass confusion trying to get people back on the trucks. Mountain Top stop was quite crowded, and trying to find parking spots cut the time short at that site. Finally, when they picked us up from the beach, there was only one truck, yet there were too many people to fit in one truck. So we waited for the second truck to arrive as well. A nice gesture since you don't want to leave people behind and make them feel stranded until the next truck arrived. However, this really cut close to our time we had to get back to the ship. All aboard was scheduled for 5:30 and we arrived just before the ship closed. Because of these three stops, we were placed on three different trucks with different drivers. This affects the experience and relationship you build with the drivers. Had it been the same driver the whole day through, I would have given it 5 stars. All drivers were excellent and quite personable, but you could see the disorganization at pickup and dropoff points. Do not fear though, you will never be left stranded by this company. Regardless, it is definitely worth it when you spend the afternoon at Sapphire Beach.
We booked this tour through Viator but not before we had checked out many reviews on Trip Advisor. Everyone we saw raved about Sonny Liston and what a great presentation he gave so we thought how could we go wrong. As it turns out, everything went wrong. From the moment they almost didn't pick us up or include us in the tour (we had booked months ahead), to the absolute lack of organization and coordination (actually chaos) amongst the drivers of the 3 buses we toured on/with. They immediately split us up reassuring us that we would be together when the buses gathered in Charlotte Amalie and reboarded. They unceremoniously dumped us off and asked us to stand with the other large groups already dumped off with no information or instruction - shopping, waiting??? When we reboarded, seems there were many large groups, they had overbooked and because we were a party of 3, there was no room on the buses. We were split up again AND had to ride in the cabs of 2 buses. Would have to say that kind of defeats the idea of a "family" vacation tour. I can't speak for riding in the cab of the other buses, but in our cab the reggae music was blaring away which made it even more uncomfortable. Plus, the back of the buses is designed for optimal viewing but the cab is the cab. Limited viewing at best. I'm not sure if we hit a bad day for Sonny Liston and his drivers but ours gave little to no information while on the ride to each stop and Sonny was definitely off his game at each stop. After the first stop, despite scenery and the undeniable beauty of the island(s), we were ready to return to the pathetic shop strip just outside the ship. It was raining, had been raining for several days, so it was wet and muddy in areas. Have to agree with coley303 about Elvis - nice but didn't deliver and didn't get the job done as far as reuniting us until several people departed the buses at Sapphire Beach. We all agreed we couldn't wait to get back to the port which is such a sad tribute to St. Thomas and all it must have to offer. Big waste of money and even bigger disappointment.
We did this tour with Taxi Love on July 12th. What a blast. We started off a little leary, not understanding that we had to pick up people downtown from the other port. Once we got on our way the music and the fun started. We stopped at a few scenic stops on our way up to mountain top. Make sure you try the banana daiquiri. Once we left there we did a few more scenic stops on our way down to Magans Bay. The loud music and singing is a welcome distraction to the driving in St Thomas YIKES! All day long we were reminded that there were ice cold drinks in the back of the bus and to help ourselves. At one point Taxi Love had everyone walking along the streets singing and dancing including the police who all new him and waved to him and said hello. This is not a sit back and listen kind of tour, this was a bus full of 25 strangers and by the end of the day we were all friendly, singing along and taking pictures of each other. The cruise we are looking at for next year stops in ST Thomas and we for sure will be booking with Sunny Liston Tours again. Great, great time.
This was our second Sonny Liston Tour. I cannot imagine coming to St Thomas and not going on this adventure. This trip we booked another private tour for just our family. We were a party of 12 and we were able to spread out and not be crowded. Our drive was Paget George AKA "TAXI LOVE" He was so much fun. My cheeks hurt at the end of the day from laughing and smiling. We were picked up right at the cruise terminal. Our guide introduced himself and asked what we wanted to see and do on our private tour. After that the music was on, we were singing and we were off. We chose to shop for two hours in town first. This was a perfect amount of time. Next we had bit of a tour with several photo stops. We stopped by Duffy's Love Shack for a shark tank and then were off to the top of the mountain. We saved the beach for last and we all enjoyed our time there. After this we returned back to the terminal--singing and laughing all the way. I cannot say enough about this tour company. We will come back again.
We used while in St Thomas on our cruise ship. No problem finding tour. It was an open air bus which was perfect for the day. First stop was downtown for shopping. Might be cool if you are looking for diamonds or jewelry. Never seen so many jewelry stores in one place in my life. When we got through and headed out for rest of tour on open air bus it was great. We had Elvis for a tour guide and he insisted everyone sing all the way to the top of the mountain so it was a bit loud but lots of fun. When we got to top it was the most amazing view. Beautiful view of the Atlantic and Megans Bay and beach down below. Truly breathtaking!!! Then we continued our drive and he dropped us at Megans Bay Beach for a good hour and a half beach break at one of the prettiest and nicest beaches we have ever seen. Outstanding day! He was very prompt in picking us up and getting us back to the ship on time.
This tour was the best. He made the whole experience one of a kind!!! From his positive happy attitude, to the Caribbean sing along, to the much needed welcome ice cold drinks to the culture of St thomas. Sunny is what his name is about. You will not be disappointed by this tour. If you don't like music or having fun and letting go, and your uptight, this tour isn't for you. If you want to have good time, relax, really enjoy the culture then take this tour. Shop a little in the very scenic town, take a breathtaking bus tour of the island with Sunny telling you ALL about the history, then cap the day off with 2 hr swim at the amazing beach of Magens Bay. (little crowded due to American holiday week). Enjoy, I highly recommend
Have booked Sunny Liston 3 times while in St Thomas and will again! Very informative and fun. Elvis has always been our favorite but we were late to the party this time. Elvis had 'left the building'! Thankfully we were able to hire Carl who works for Sunny occasionally and still had a splendid day. Tour takes you to Mountain Top for our favorite Banana Daiquiri then to Magens Beach for some sun! Missed Elvis' singing but got to see him up top! See you next time!
We visited St. Thomas on 9/10/15 during a cruise. We selected Package #3, which is just the sightseeing tour. The tour was $30, and we had to put a $5/person deposit down through Paypal. We had Elvis for our tour guide, we saw him with a sign from Sunny Liston Tours as we got off the cruise ship and exited the security gate. He wasn't very friendly at first, but got better as we were on the tour. He stopped in the downtown area to pick up some people that had gone shopping. Elvis seemed to know a lot about the island and pointed our various buildings to us when we stopped at scenic overlooks. The tour was in a open air safari type vehicle with no seatbelts. He played Caribbean music throughout the ride and tried to get people to sing along with him, the people on our tour weren't really into it. We visited Mountain Top, the highest point in St. Thomas which boasted beautiful views. Just a warning - the ride up to Mountain Top is very bumpy and narrow, I would not recommend this for anyone that gets motion sickness easily. There were free refreshments such as soda and water, which helped a lot because it was very hot that day. After Mountain Top, he dropped everyone that was doing the beach portion of the tour at Magen's Bay, which looked beautiful and dropped everyone else back at the ship. All in all, it was an average tour for an affordable price.
Oh what fun we had with Sunny! He's such a personable and kind host, and he made our day in St. Thomas one we'll always remember. With upbeat Caribbean music pulsing out of the open air "safari" bus, we sang, laughed and learned about St. Thomas as we zigzagged up the hairpin turns to the scenic vistas. My hubby wanted to go scuba diving at Coki Beach that day, so I decided to do the tour instead. Luckily, one of Sunny's beach stops was Coki! It was perfect since I got to spend a few hours at the beach and meet up with my husband at the end of the day. Sunny returned a few hours later to pick us both up (even though my hubby wasn't originally part of the tour!) and took us to our ship while more island music, fun and laughter filled the safari. It was a day we'll never forget! Now I visit his website just to hear the music that always brings me back to that wonderful day! Thanks Sunny! For a complete review of the tour, check out my blog at: http://passporttobliss.com/2015/04/28/8-hours-in-st-thomas/
We got off the ship with no real plans for the day.. I had done some homework before we left so I knew what beach we wanted to visit.. (Sapphire Beach) We wet to the taxi area where they have tons of cabs waiting to take you wherever you wanted to go...We finally figured out it would be $40. total jus to grab a cab to get to the beach and back.. So we turned back around, walked back towards the ship and ran into Elvis! Elvis is a tour guide for Sunny Liston Tours! Soooo HAPPY we did. This ended up being one of my favorite ports of this cruise! You will be driving around in an open air bus with plenty of wind to keep you cool! Our first stop on this tour was shopping.. Elvis dropped us off at a little flea market for an hour (plenty of time) Down the street were stores but mostly jewelry stores... We didn't shop there so I cant comment on those shops! Then after the shopping they take you on a sight seeing tour! The places they take you to take pictures are beautiful!! We stopped and got off at 2 different spots for photos! They do stop along the side of the road for photos as well. The roads are pretty crazy.. Very hilly and exciting to see! After the photo shoots are finished the group has to decide on which beach they want to be dropped off at and the majority rules!! Our group chose Sapphire Beach:) OMG!!! So beautiful! A must if you are ever in St. Thomas! We had a couple hours at the beach which was a good amount of time! There are bathrooms, a changing area and a full bar with drinks and food for purchase! They also rent out chairs, umbrellas and water stuff! After the 2 hour beach break its time to head back to the ship... They crank up the music and you really feel like your on vacation!! LOVED IT!!
Pre arranged before leaving on our cruise on Carnival Breeze. Picked up on time and Sunny is a great host. Did a couple of hours shopping then headed up the mountain for some sightseeing and a talk on the area and history. I am not a history buff but found it extremely interesting and easy to digest. From there to a stop at a great spot on the mountain to take some more photos of the cruise ships in port then off to a beach for a few hours. Back to the ship in enough time to do a little local sightseeing before boarding again. Fun filled day without being taken back to the ship way too early as some tours end up doing (especially the cruise line organised ones) Strongly recommend this to anyone visiting St Thomas. Very beautiful island.
We were looking for a way to spend the day experiencing as many aspects of St Thomas as possible. We had a limited amount of time as we were on a cruise and only in port for the day. After searching online for a local tour I came across Sonny Liston tours. We decided on the ‘shopping, sightseeing and beach tour. AMAZING! Sonny picked us up from the terminal, down to Charlotte Amalie for an hour of shopping. Then hop aboard for the most fun you’ll ever experience! We headed up to Mountain Top via some lookout stops and history. In between is loud music, singing, horns and plenty of onlookers! After a brief stop at Mountain Top it was then onto Magens Bay. Here we did it tough in the sun sipping cocktails and just taking in the beauty of one of the world’s best beaches. What a day in the Caribbean! This tour is a MUST for anyone wanting to have a fun day out in St Thomas. I could not recommend this tour enough. Thanks Sonny for such a memorable time in St Thomas.
Sunny Liston's Island, Beach and Shopping Tour is a wonderful way to experience St. Thomas. If loud soca/reggae music, crazy driving on hilly narrow roads and loud singing are up your alley then this is the tour for you. Sunny's is great he had everyone singing and dancing in their seats. He gives you a brief history of the island, takes you to lookout spot's where he will point out several points of interest and give you the great history behind it. You also drive up the mountain top and are able to view the surrounding islands while enjoying one of the famous Banana Daiquiris. He offered everyone a choice of beaches and dropped some off at Coki and others off at Megans Bay. There is a $4.00 fee to enter Megans. The shopping here is wonderful especially if you are looking to purchase jewelry. We were given more than enough time to explore downtown. My family and I had a great day and would not hesitate to book this tour again.
I am late writing this review because our vacation was back in June but just I recommended this tour to someone else who was going to St. Thomas. Sunny was an awesome tour guide. It was just our family so it was very private but he had us all singing and dancing in the bus. We stopped at a couple of points up the mountain for different views and Sunny gave us some interesting history about the island. We also stopped at Coki Beach for a couple of hours which I also recommend. The fish were amazing and it was so fun to have them eat right out of our hands. It was a very memorable day and everytime my kids here the Bob Marley song "Don't Worry" they think of Sunny!
My wife and I just got back from our cruise and took this tour on our ship stop in St. Thomas. Unfortunately, the port was extremely crowded that day and the initial pick-up was rather chaotic. Below the details. We were told to meet a person holding a Sunny Liston tour sign by the end of the docks, we quickly found the person and were told to wait on the side of the road. We waited around for around 10-20 minutes (we were early) and we were met by our driver Elvis. We got in the van, but we waited around some more waiting for more people. Next, we stopped for around 40 minutes in the downtown area for shopping, which was very rushed and chaotic due to the large number of people downtown. Our next stop, was over a hilly look-out were we could see our ship and we learn a bit about the history of St. Thomas (there were some local vendors at this stop if you wanted to buy souvenirs). Back to the van and up to the mountain (while signing to some reggae music) for spectacular views and overpriced souvenirs and drinks. Next, the highlight of the trip, Magens Bay. The day was sunny, the water warm, and the people at the bar by the beach were great. Two hours later we were picked up by Elvis and headed back to the port with some time to spare. Overall the tour was fun, but it would skip the shopping and sightseeing part and head straight to the beach. Some tips: During winter, the local time is different from the ship's time, thus be aware if you don't want to get stranded. There is a $4.00 charge to access Magens Bay, thus make sure to have some cash with you. The male bathroom and changing areas were absolutely horrible (e.g.toilets were overflowing with feces), female facilities were fine. Unfortunately some of the people in our tour were grumpy and complained about everything, thus making hard for the rest of the group to truly enjoyed the tour. It seems that the makeup of the group is important in completely enjoying this tour.
We booked this tour on the glowing recommendations on TA and cruise critic. It was fine, nothing really bad, but now that I've done it, I see a lot of the same behavior/things we encountered. First, we were picked up on time, but we then had to meet another cruise ship and cram more people in the bus and that took a good 20 minutes from our "tour". Now totally over-full, we were dropped off to shop in town. Asked if we wanted to leave our bags, he would lock them up. Nice gesture. However, when my husband asked for ours back when he returned to pick us up - he told him no, he could get it later. I did not appreciate this at all. We did not enjoy the shopping at all, but not the tour operators fault. Unless you want to buy diamonds/jewelry there is NOTHING else to shop for. We weren't interested in these things so we walked around in the hot sun for 2 hours. We did briefly shop at the "market" which is was a bunch of canopies set up with counterfeit purses and some local tourist items. We were instructed to be back in the designated area for 11:45. At 12:00 we asked another operator to call and see where he was and were told he was right there and had been there - in an adjacent lot. This was not true, as we had walked to the lot to look for him. He and another one of his other buses pull up, both almost full and we cram all 35 or so people who had been waiting into them and head off for our island "tour". 5 minutes later we pull up a hill. There is a building and there are 2 more vendors with same stuff for sale. We are told to look at the view and take pictures. Given a 2 minute talk about some buildings we are looking at and then told to shop with the vendors. Everybody piles back in the buses and we head off for the "top of the mountain". On the way lots of fun (loud) music and dancing. No information about the island whatsoever is given. But signing is fun. We get to the mountain which is, you guessed it, ANOTHER shopping spot. You have to walk through store where you are given a 2 minute talk on what you are looking at (same info on sign) and told to meet back at the bus in 20 minutes, after you purchase your over-priced banana daiquiri. One last stop on the side of the road to take a picture - of same scenery ... and then off to one of the two beaches. Stop at first, drop off some at Megan's Bay ($4 per person entrance fee). Then off to Sapphire for those of us who chose it. What a joke. As others have said this is not a great spot. It kept raining, so we go outside an hour and a half ahead of schedule in hopes that Sunny will take us back to the ship. NO such luck. My friends wanted to take a taxi back to ship, but I really didn't want to leave and stiff him out of his tip or to make him wonder where we are and spend time looking for us ... big mistake. 30-45 minutes after sitting there we ask another person to call him and he does and relayed that we were told 4:00 and he would be there THEN, not before. He and the other driver show up on time this time, but we were missing some people, so he says "we told them 4:00 and they are not here so let's leave". Which is good, but now my friends are mad at me for not leaving an hour and a half earlier ... We paid $40 plus a tip and I heard (and have now read on TA) that many other people were offering an "island tour" which sounded much better than what we got for $25.00. I guess perhaps they didn't get dropped and picked up at the beach ... which we didn't enjoy anyway. Sunny was very fun, and I think part of the reason we weren't thrilled with the day was because St. Thomas doesn't have much to actually see on land ... except beautiful water. We all agreed in our group that we were sorry not to have booked something on the water or just hopped in cabs and done the highlights on our own like many of our friends did.
We took our tour two days ago and had an amazing time with Sunny and his wife. They make you feel like family and take wonderful care of you. The sites were amazing, singing and dancing on the tour bus was hilarious! We will be booking this tour again on our next trip to St. Thomas!
We booked with Sunny during a trip to St. Thomas on Carnival Valor. He was on time to pick us up right at the boat. We had a great day. We booked the Island Tour and Beach. Sunny was very informative and fun. We tried a banana daiquiri on the mountain and it was over priced but tasted good. We then headed to Sapphire Beach. It was a nice beach and a beautiful afternoon. Would recommend Sunny for a fun, yet relaxing day.
Our boat was delayed and we had no way of getting a hold of Sunny to let him know. No worries, he was there with his sign. We had a blast! No boring tour here. I won't reveal too much, not knowing what to expect was half the fun. Let's just say if you want your normal ho hum tour guide, Sunny is not for you. If you want your day to be a blast while seeing the best of St. Thomas, Sunny Liston's tours is for you. He was a great guide!
This tour was recommended by an experienced friend who said, “If you do nothing else, take the Sunny Liston tour.” Reading other reviews here, it looks like this either works for you or it doesn’t. GiGi picked us up at the ship as promised. It seems characteristic of all Liston busses that there is a lot of singing and noise. In retrospect, I believe they do it as a distraction from the narrow roads, sharp turns and high speed driving. I think if we were not singing like crazy, a lot of folks might be uncomfortable. However I felt the whole thing, including the driving, was part of the experience – and we loved it. (To be clear here, I hasten to add that at no time did I feel Gigi was not in complete control of the bus. She was an excellent fast close-tolerance driver. And that was part of the fun too, including “Every Day of the Week” which is a pretty catchy (Antigua?) song. She picked us up in the market at the exact spot she promised (a bit late but, hey, it’s the Caribbean eh?). They may have learned from earlier comments on this site because this was accomplished by another Sunny Liston bus which sat in the spot and held it for 15 minute until she arrived!! Top of the mountain: great views, great mall of tourist junk and bought a couple of delightful Caribbean scenes from a lady painting on an easel at the entrance. The beach we went to was a bit run-down I admit but we weren’t on the Island for the beaches anyway and we only has to stay 20 min or so and then, those of us not interested got back on the bus and left. As others have commented, I admit I was a bit surprised at the lack of St Thomas history in the tour “patter”. However I found the same in St Maartin. My gut feel is that the residents have been overwhelmed by the 10 or 20 thousand passengers from 2 to 4 cruise ships who spend about 6 hours each on the island every day. If you think about it, this huge intrusion is a devastation everywhere it occurs in a small area (St Thomas, St Maartin but not San Juan, for example). In their “port briefings”, for obvious business reasons, the cruise lines sell the shopping and the beaches and nothing else. The people in the tourist service industry are overwhelmed by this tsunami of tourists looking for “shopping and beaches” and they (reasonable enough) conclude all the rest is unwanted. Too bad. But it is the stress-free (as a taxi driver in St Maartin told us in traffic jam) Caribbean and they will survive and laugh and sing, and we are the true losers. I acknowledge some very bad reviews in TripAdvisor (which surprise me!!) but I would still recommend this tour to you, as my friend did to me, as a great fun deal (especially if you can no-stress it when things are not perfect).
Sunny Liston Tours is a private tour in St. Thomas. If you are worried about booking a tour that is not with the cruise line, have no fear. This is one of the best tours and the greatest value for your money. We felt totally safe and had a blast. We heard about it from other passengers and decided to give it a try. Sunny drove our bus himself. He was parked right outside the cruise ship and we had not signed up ahead of time but he was more than willing to accommodate us. Sunny's tour was half the price of the excursions offered by the cruise ship. He was so bubbly and fun, and he had the whole bus singing and having a great time. Sunny exemplifies customer service at its best! This tour spends time downtown for shopping, takes you to the highest point for a great view and a delicious banana daquiri, various photo stops along the way, then gives you the choice of which of three beaches you'd like to visit. We had plenty of time at the beach and made it back to the cruise ship with time to spare. This tour gave us a full day of fun and I would highly recommend it.
This was our first time to St Thomas and my husband and I could not of picked a better tour to go on. We wanted to see the island, shop and go to the beach. This was perfect. Sunny was our driver that day and he was FULL of life and the spirit of his tour was all laughing and singing. GREAT GREAT TIME. Thank you Sunny. Next time we come to the island we will make sure we have more time, as we needed to get back to our cruise ship.
My husband and I visited St Thomas with my in-laws (Oct 4th) whom had never been. We have toured with Sunny three other times. Wanting them to see all of St Thomas in a short amount of time, we booked with Sunny. As always, his site is easy to use and booking is a breeze. Sunny was at the gate waiting (as always.) He always has a full bus and is always fun and he shares his knowledge with those who want to listen. My in-laws enjoyed the day and the personal attention he gives his guests. I read a couple of coments of people who didn't enjoy their day and I hate that. I will say that the ride up the (mountain) does scare some people as you are going (up a mountain!) You can't do that at 25 mph! The roads do turn a bit and he does pump the brakes a bit as he is trying to be fun. They also drive on the left there so sometimes it does feel funny. On our way down after a fun day, we were met (on our side of the road) by an oncoming car and Sunny handled it better than most and came to a complete stop to avoid an accident. I have noticed many people driving like this on the island and he is always looking out for them. I have never felt unsafe with his driving. Sunny doesn't sing very well, (sorry Sunny)...but he does it because he is happy! If you don't like fun and being a little crazy then this isn't the tour for you!
Gie Gie, Sunny's wife, was our personal driver and tour guide for our recent cruise stop in St Thomas. She was the perfect person to spend the day with, as she's a lifelong resident and knows her way around the island like the back of her hand. She took us to scenic overlooks, and to the Mountain Top where we could see the British Virgin Islands! I can tell you if you book through the cruise line, you'll be on a cattle car going to all the usual tourist stops. We decided to go with something more intimate and personal and we were well rewarded. I whole-heartedly endorse Sunny Liston tours!
Our tour with Sunny Liston was exactly what we wanted while on St. Thomas -- friendly, fun, informative, easy, and safe. We met our driver with no problem right outside of the cruise dock. Her name was GiGi and we later found out that she is the wife of "Sunny" himself, the owner of the company. The open-air bus was sturdy and utilitarian but very comfortable and festively decorated. GiGi was very gregarious and welcoming of our group of 11, and we quickly settled on what type of stops we would like to make on our all-day tour. We decided to skip the shopping areas, hit a couple scenic views on the way up to the Mountaintop Lookout, then wind up at the beach. We had requested via email that the bus be stocked with a cooler of cold bottled water; GiGi was prepared with more than enough drinks for our group, chilled and ready to go. Right away GiGi blasted some fun, exotic island music, and sang along over the loudspeaker, inviting us to chant along. It was a nice ice-breaker and put us in a great mood. Along the winding and treacherous roads, we never felt unsafe or uneasy. Some reports stated the tour drivers were a little too fast-and-furious for their liking; but GiGi was never reckless or careless. At each stop, she kindly answered our many, many (probably) dumb touristy questions, and was happy to share her stories about life on the island. Once we made it to the beach for the final 3-hour chunk of the day, GiGi left to briefly attend to other duties but was back and ready for us well before our scheduled meet-up. We were back to the cruise dock right on time. We highly recommend Sunny Liston Tours, and a special thanks to GiGi for a great day.
Let me say first that I didn't go on the full tour, but wish I had. We took a cab to Mountain Top in the morning from our cruise ship. We couldn't find a cab when we were ready to go to Coki beach for the rest of the day, no one was traveling up there except for tours (especially since Mountain Top just re-opened and most cab drivers didn't realize this). So Sunny comes and sits down next to us and has a friendly chat for awhile and says his tour is full but if we didn't mind we could sit up front with him and his loud music and he would get us to coki beach along his way. We accepted and let me tell you for the short time I was one the tour it was the most energy packed fun I had all day. The music was great and Sunny seemed like he was going to get you to laugh or have fun some how. Sunny probably charged us half of what it would cost for a cab and went out of his way to help us out. Really great guy, and if I'm in St Thomas again I look forward to doing his full tour and would recommend it to anyone!
