Doug was very knowledgeable, had some really bad dad jokes😉, and was a lot of fun! We saw lots or tarpon and ballyhoo, a nurse shark and a spotted stingray, all in Chocolate Bay! Nighttime marine life is active! You don’t need to have great kayaking experience. Get mosquito spray!

Had a great time. The guides were very entertaining, informative, and funny. The pre kayak training was very helpful. I can’t remember the guides names, but our tour was on 10/23/26.
We had such a fabulous time and our tour guide Christiano (not sure on spelling) was amazing!! He went the extra mile to make sure we had a great time!
Booked a few weeks ahead of our trip (low season/October). Was a bit of an iffy drive from our mid-island mountaintop VRBO to the location but the operator provided advance notice of construction at the Westin and a video of the meet-up site. Christiano, our guide (who is living the life - cheers to him!!), was friendly and chatty and showed us the glow paints for the pics. Went out with a nice group of ladies/family from Wisconsin. The Lucite? canoes (more canoe than kayak) and lights in them provides an amazingly clear view of the water and TONS of fish. Also saw the bird-like bats, two stingray, and tons of tiny to mid size fish. Luckily the small ones were the only ones that jumped in a couple canoes. There are some that are up 4 feet long that were jumping and came very close to landing with us. Between the sights, the clear night, and the pirate humor, we had a fun and peaceful outing. Highly recommend - oh and definitely take a camera in the canoe. You’re not going to flip and the canoes don’t get very wet. Pics would have been clear with the lights.
Doug was a very fun and engaging guide. We saw many large fish and other wildlife. Ture was not strenuous.
Great time for sure. A lot of fun and fish. Cristiano was great and funny as well. Our small group had a great time.
We did the night kayaking (Doug - AKA Dougie Fresh) was our Guide and it was an amazing experience. We loved every minute of this and can’t wait to return to do it again!
We took the Night Kayak tour with our family friends. We were already staying at the Westin so the meeting location was ideal. We painted ourselves with the glow in the dark paint, the received instructions & put on our life jacket. You will get wet from paddling the water so I’d recommend dressing accordingly. The lifejackets have zipper pockets if you need to a store small person item. The fish are plentiful. We say a baby shark, turtle, tarpon, and grouper. The tarpon were so active a 2.5 footer jumped in the boat the our 16 year old daughters! He successfully flapped his way back into the water with some help from Christiano. Shout to our tour guide, Christiano! He was very informative.
Great fun experience! Tour guide Doug was great in explaining everything and keeping the excitement! Worth it for something different.
Truly a unique experience! Our guide, Doug, was fantastic. This isn't about paddling - It's about being surounded by hundreds of large Tarpons and countless smaller fish (sometimes the small fish jump in your kayak, and yes, we put them back in the ocean). We even saw a turtle and two or three sharks.
10/10 must do! The most fun and our guide was great! We are still talking and laughing about it.
This was such a fun experience. I was a little nervous at first that we weren't going to see anything other than some bats and a starfish, but I was very wrong. Halfway through our trip we found the tarpon. They were 4 feet long or bigger and there were SO many. They were all around and under us. You could reach out and touch them if you wanted. At one point it seemed they were racing us back to shore. So much fun! Cristiano (sp?) was a great guide. He kept us safe and brought us to the action! The weather wasn't the best as it down poured (and I do mean down poured!) on us for a few minutes which made it impossible to see where we were paddling. I would still do it all again!
This was a wonderful and unique experience! Christiano was a wonderful host and kayaking among the tarpons was amazing and magical!
Our night kayaking trip was so much fun! Our guide, Cristiano, was so knowledgeable and enjoyable. His jokes were great! We saw many large tarpons and some reef sharks as well as bats. Will definately do this again next trip. Highly recommended.
Doug, our guide, made the experience the Best!! His instruction and guidance made us feel safe so we could have tons of fun! We saw tons of fish, fisherman bats and enjoyed the onshore lights of St. Thomas
Cristiano is a superb guide. Great personality. Excellent knowledge of fish and wildlife of the area. Saw several kinds of fish and a great bulldog bat as it hunted. Highly recommend this experience. You'll be amazed at what you see!
We had an amazing time on our excursion last night with Doug. He was a great guide, very informative and we saw so much wildlife on our tour. We saw Tarpon, bats, fish, and sharks. We learned a lot about the waters here iand the island. It was one of the best excursions we’ve ever been on. Doug took really good care of us had great attention to detail and made sure we were comfortable with everything that we did from how to paddle our kayaks to the safest way to stay on the path he was taking us.
Doug was a great guide. Funny, informative and gave interesting information about the animals and history. I would go again! Great experience!
The night kayaking experience was absolutely incredible! 🌙✨ From start to finish, everything was amazing, but what truly made it unforgettable was our guide, Christiano. He was extremely knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable and excited throughout the entire experience. Not only did he know so much about the area and everything we were seeing, but his amazing sense of humor made the whole adventure even more fun! 😂 He kept us laughing while also making sure we had an incredible experience. I highly recommend this experience, especially if you get the chance to have Christiano as your guide. He definitely made the night unforgettable! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Kayaking in the dark with Christiano was the most fun experience I’ve ever had on vacation. He was very knowledgeable about all the marine life and we emptied every minute of it! We will definitely do this next time we return to St. John. Highly recommend!!!!
Good directions to location. Fun little paddle around. Our tour guide Christiano was awesome!
So very fun! Bring bug spray since it is at dusk and the mosquitos are gnarly at the beginning as everyone is getting set up with paint, kayaks, pictures etc. It is an easy paddle and good for beginners. So amazing seeing all of the Tarpin and minnows. Just a great easy going night on the quiet water.
Doug was an exceptional guide, loaded with knowledge of sea life, the ocean and sky constellation. We saw lots of Tarpon, Balihoo and a sea turtle. Doug was very inviting and knows how to show his guests a good time. We are very happy we chose this adventure and highly recommend
This was OUR BEST experience on the island! Was nothing like we expected. Saw HUGE groupers, Tarpon, Sea Turtles, Bats, and so many other fish! Saw way more than we did snorkeling! Insane! Fish were HUGE! Our Guide was the most knowledgeable guide we could have asked for, Christiano, you made this trip memorable!
Great fun! Cristiano was incredible, really fun and informative. Saw a lot of different fish! And even a shark… had such a good time! Highly recommend! Thanks Cristiano !
Doug was awesome! He explained everything and kept the whole group together and engaged. I highly recommend!
Had a great time with Doug and Christian. Enjoyed seeing various fish. They were informative, had some dad jokes, interacted with group and made us very comfortable as we were first time kayakers.
It was a ton of fun and a unique experience. Isabelle was very patient and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend doing this if you’re here..
Doug was incredible from start to finish. He took the time to explain everything, made sure everyone felt comfortable, and truly went above and beyond. He deserves a raise! The entire time we were kayaking, Doug was right there on the paddle board keeping an eye on everyone and making sure we were having a great experience. I did assume we would travel a little farther out of the harbor, but overall that did not take away from how enjoyable the adventure was. It was peaceful, beautiful, and such a fun way to experience St. John at night. You never know what you will see in the ocean, so go for the experience! I wish it had been longer than an hour. I will 100% be doing this again the next time I’m on island. Highly recommend adding this to your St. John itinerary!
Load with all the paint you can because the photos turn out great. We saw lots of Tarpin fish. They swim right under your board.
The experience was excellent, and Reina was an awesome guide!
We had an amazing time on the small-group night kayak tour in Cruz Bay, St. John! The clear-bottom kayaks with underwater lights made for an incredible experience. We saw huge schools of tarpon and yellowtail snapper, and the fish swam right up to our kayaks—so close it felt like you could reach out and touch them. It was surreal watching them glide through the illuminated water beneath us. Our guide, Doug, was fantastic—knowledgeable, engaging, and a lot of fun. He shared interesting information about the local marine life while keeping the tour relaxed and entertaining. If you’re looking for a unique way to experience St. John after dark, this tour is absolutely worth it. Highly recommend!
Doug made us feel safe and secure A lot of fun and saw tons of 5 foot Tarpen and bats too Beautiful night for kayaking in stj
The Night Life with my Girl was everything and she brought the Love. I call her Glow of love because our Experience was just that, Glowing…
What a fun night. Reina was a great guide! She was very professional, funny and helpful. She made sure we all were able to see the nurse shark, stingray, turtle and tarpon. Our grandsons ashes 10 and 12 said this was a highlight of our vacation.
Doug was awesome and very informative!! Very positive vibes!!
Doug great guide and guide! Well worth it
So much fun! Isabel was a wonderful guide and made it such an enjoyable experience! We didn’t expect to see so many fish, and fish that large!!!! We had a great time!!
Great experience in STJ. Isabell was a great tour guide. Very informative and very friendly. Fun for a group of 8. We saw a lot of Tarpon, Jacks, tiger grouper and a sting ray
What a great experience. Doug our guide was great! Very personable & happy go lucky. Really set the mood for our evening excursion. No stress& lots of insights for our inexperienced but fun-loving group. Highly recommend this Virgin Island experience for everyone.
Had a wonderful time on the 8:30pm tour with our guide, Reina. We saw lots of tarpon, a nurse shark and a ray. Reina did a great job pointing things out as we paddled around the bay. We highly recommend this trip for a fun night out!
Very pleasant end to our day spent at Cruz Bay. The fish were huge! Our guide Reina was awesome! Overall our family of 6 had a very nice time.
Awesome experience. Almost like the fish were trained to perform!!
The glow paint wasn’t worth doing. Would have been better is there was a backlight in the kayak so you could glow the whole time. You spend all this time putting on glow paint just to take a pic with a black light before setting out and that’s it as far as the glowing goes. Then another pic by the guide when you return and most of the pics turn out blurry. Should learn to adjust settings or invest in a good camera that can take pics at night. Then they want a tip on top of the expensive one hour tour. Overall the tour was ok. Not buggy at all out on the water which was nice though. $50-$60 would have been more reasonable.
This was absolutely a great experience. The resort is a beautiful location to start the tour and our guide Doug made the trip fun from the moment we walked up. Got to see some really small sea life and a bunch of larger tarpon. This a great activity for families and friends. It's both fun and educational and Doug really kept us laughing with his dad jokes. Safety precautions were spot on and high priority
Doug was a great guide - we learned about the marine life of St John and got to see quite a few tarpon down below. None were jumping, but a great time nonetheless!
The experience was awesome. Doug was our guide. He took pictures of our family with glow paint on and even did a short video for us. At the end of the kayak tour he attempted to send us the pics and video but they were not downloading so he said once he connected to WiFi the link would work. We waited. The next day I still couldn’t get the link to load so I sent a message asking if he could resend it stating it wasn’t working. I got no response. So I messaged him the next day and still nothing. The third day I emailed the link I had and sent yet another message via text. I was asked my name and date of the tour which I provided and heard nothing back. I emailed again 48 hours later and was finally told the pics and video had been erased. So I ended up with no pics!! Very disappointing.
Isabel was a perfect guide for our night kayaking experience. She was very friendly and knowledgable. She explained what we were seeing in the water. She also tried to learn some facts about the kayakers. She definitely made the experience a great one.
It was absolutely amazing the water was warm, the instructor Bernard was friendly and very knowledgeable of the fish and the ocean and the history of the island. We saw Alligator gar and Atlantic halibut and many other fish species. We got to paint each other with neon paint and our kayak had two led lights to help us see the fish better. I would absolutely do this again if we had the time it was a cheap and quick about 45 mins experience. My wife and I had a blast. The fish were jumping out of the water about five feet into the air, they were dancing under us in the water just amazing
Doug was fantastic! Doug knew alot about the fish and gave us pointers for the night. Would totally do this again if Doug is our guide!
