To bring towels and shoes that can get wet but also walk on slippery surfaces. Nick and Ryan took fantastic care of us!

Itinerary
Formed over millions of years, the Batholiths or “Baths” are a series of interconnecting boulder formations creating unique grottos to wander through, and crystal clear waters to explore and relax in. They are truly one of the wonders of the Caribbean, and a must see.
Excited for a lunch at the “Baths”? Well look no farther than Top of the Baths! They will provide an exceptional lunch on your exceptional trip.
Legend has it that the Caves are place where Henry Creque, a local fisherman, discovered what many believe to be gold doubloons from a pilfered Spanish galleon, “Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe.” It is widely believed to be the setting of Robert Louis Stevenson’s book, “Treasure Island”. The Caves are a gorgeous snorkel with friendly fish and three different caves to snorkel through and explore.

The trail can be a little tricky and there are parts you have to bend down, a steep ladder, and parts you walk through water. But definitely worth it!
Our captain Remo was great! Great music and exceptional navigation! Our guides Joe and Skylar were awesome! Great experience!!! I give it 5 stars! We had an amazing, fun day! First time my husband was able to snorkel! I can't recommend Island time with Cruz bay watersportd enough! The Baths were everything we were hoping for!!!
We could not have been a better experience. The Captain and his crew were above and beyond friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and FUN! They helped make this trip such a blast. They took us through the Baths expertly, prepped us appropriately for customs and kept us informed every step of the way. But the gold star of the day goes, hands down, to the captain for taking us to an AMAZING snorkeling spot. We were traveling with friends and everyone agreed this was THE BEST snorkeling they have ever had. I cannot thank the team on Island Time enough. Truly the best day on our trip. Can't wait to come back again.
Took off from the Westin St. John, picked up more passengers at the Ritz Carleton St. Thomas, and headed to Virgin Gorda. There were about 50 people. It was a fairly long (90min) boat ride but the people on the boat were FUN. The Baths were a bus ride from the dock. Those big rocks are crazy! Well worth the trip. Then a pretty nice lunch at the Top of the Baths. On the way back we snorkeled at Norman Island. The guides were great, open bar was great, trip was great. Highly recommend!
Great day aboard the Island Time! Crew worked very hard, they were great! Sorry, only name I can remember is Sierra. Would have liked to have had more time at The Baths, felt a little rushed to get through it. Linch was great. Snorkeling spot after The Baths was great! Drinks after snorkeling were great! Fun day, would highly recommend!
Captain Remo and Mate Riley took us to Virgin Gorda and then caves at Norman Island. Captain was entertaining singing and being animated while doing so. Riley would give me the tablet to have access to the playlist as he insisted that he had to learn by his mistakes. Kidding aside, if you don’t enjoy the trip, it’s your own fault.
Our experience on the St. John Discover the Baths of Virgin Gorda tour was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. This trip was especially meaningful for us because we were celebrating the 10th anniversary of getting married at The Baths, and it was our first time returning as part of a guided tour. Siera was an incredible host who made everyone feel welcome from the moment we boarded. Her warm, friendly personality set the tone for the entire day and made every guest feel like they were in great hands. Elijah was equally fantastic. He was funny, engaging, and incredibly informative throughout the trip. His professionalism, knowledge of the area, and ability to keep everyone entertained made the experience even more enjoyable. Our captain also deserves special recognition. We greatly appreciated his flexibility with our departure plans, which meant a lot to us on such a special anniversary. His professionalism and focus on providing a great guest experience were evident throughout the day. The entire excursion was exceptionally well organized. Breakfast was delicious, the boat was comfortable, and the open bar was managed responsibly, creating a fun atmosphere while ensuring everyone stayed safe and comfortable. Lunch at the top of The Baths was as good as always, and the snorkeling stop at the caves was perfectly planned. f you’re considering a visit to Virgin Gorda and The Baths, we cannot recommend Cruz Bay Watersports highly enough. Thank you for helping us celebrate such a meaningful milestone and for giving us memories we’ll treasure for years to come.
The process to book was easy. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The crew on the ship were also great. The captain chose great music for the trip. We were on the boat Island Time. This trip took us to some beautiful spots. I would advise wearing shoes with good traction on them for climbing down the rocks to get to the Baths. I would also take water due to the heat when you are hiking.
A Mixed Bag Experience. Please DO NOT go on this experience if you are elderly or have issues with mobility. 1. The Boat ride out to where the location is was fun...but the music track ended up repeating- a small annoyance...but still an annoyance. 2. The Hike down to the Baths was very rushed- luckily my 14 year old and I had on hiking sandals and we are both in good health. 3. The young man leading our group pretty much sprinted down the rocks and then was annoyed that he had to go back to help elderly and mobility impaired patrons who here having issues navigating the rocks/places without hand rails...some spots have hand rails and wooden stairs...some are just rounded rocks. 4. On our tour there were 2 dads with teen boys (and the dads had done this excursion before)- and they led us on the rest of tour to the beach- because our guide was grabbing people who lagged behind. We had an incredible swim at the beach and hiked ourselves into the caves. Freaking BEAUTIFUL. After our extended solo photo shoots in the cave- the elderly individuals finally made it to the cave where there is just a rope to hold- my daughter grabbed their bags and the young men helped the elderly guests navigate the terrain. 5. Our mini-group exited the caves once everyone was safe and with our "Rush Rush guide). We walked up to the lunch restaurant. Our mini group was able to finish lunch but then the guides rushed us out of there and many of the elderly people who had just sat down had to just put their lunches in to-go containers- freaking awful. 6. The Captain took us all to the snorkel location and advised we could swim into the rock caves- our mini group jumped right in...the waves were very choppy- and again physical strength was needed to navigate the rough waves and avoid hitting the rocks... 7. Just as we started to really enjoy the swim and sea life we were rushed back onto the boat...which sucked- we asked one of the elderly individuals how long we were in the water (she had stayed on the boat finishing her now cold lunch)- and she told us we were in the water for 25 minutes. 8. Drinks on the way to customs...delicious. IF YOU GO- HERE ARE THE TIPS 1. Wear shoes you can comfortably hike in and get wet. 2. Wear your bathing suit and some shorts so that you can jump in the water once you get down the the beach. 3. If you are not a strong swimmer stay out of the water down at that beach at the Baths...the water is rough. 4. This is a strenuous hike...bring water. 5. Know your physical limits/constraints- if you are easily winded be careful...this is NOT the excursion for you. A Final note: My mom is 70, walks 2 miles every day even though she has MS. While she gets around well for her age and condition I would never have attempted this sort of excursion with her.
Incredible!! Captain & Crew were total experts and very enthusiastic!! Super knowledgeable and made our experience so much fun!!! We would highly recommend!!
It’s not worth the money. All they provide you with is a really mediocre continental breakfast. And it’s really odd how they go about the open bar. They only start giving you drinks from the “open bar” once you’ve finished snorkeling, which isn’t until 5 hours into the excursion. Then we had an incident where the guy from the crew lectured us about taking a beer from the fridge without asking while other people were given the liberty freely. The crew was nice for the most part but the excursion is simply not worth the money and they have a really deceiving claim about it being an “open bar”.
We were instructed to check in by 7:30 am. First employee didn’t show up until 7:40 am. Breakfast was hardly anything. They ran out of food before everyone got through the line. At our first stop for the hike, they told us we only needed cash and medications. I would have brought sunscreen, bug spray, a towel, and our insulated water bottle. It was a hot day, and we had no water. We also should have been told that we would be walking through water so that we could have worn appropriate footwear. Lunch was good, but it took a long time for everyone to get served. Snorkeling at caves was OK, not spectacular. Trip back was fine with open bar. Staff was friendly, and it was fun to engage with the other guests.
Amazing trip to Virgin Gorda Baths and snorkeling! We boarded at the Ritz Carlton hotel in St Thomas, enjoyed a scenic trip on “Island Time” straight to Virgin Gorda; we sailed between St John and Tortola. Wonderful guided tour and hike thru the National Park, safely navigating caves and boulders and ladders. Enjoyed a terrific lunch and drink at “Top of the Baths” open air restaurant and bar. Then back onto Island Time for a special snorkeling spot next to Norman Island, BVI. 3 caves, amazing underwater terrain, lots of bright-colored fish, and a few turtles. Open bar and beautiful return trip back to St Thomas, after stopping at US Customs in Cruz Bay, St .John, USVI. Crew did a superb job speeding us thru customs, and agents were very professional and attentive to detail. We highly recommend this trip for couples and families.
A very good hike and snorkeling combined day trip. Very well done. Cruz Bay Watersports has headquarters at the St John’s Westin Site. The accommodations and staff at the Westin are excellent and extremely helpful.
We were celebrating my 50th birthday. We knew the weather outlook wasn't optimal and were waiting for the cancellation text. To our surprise, it was a go. We had our raincoats and layers. Aside from confusion on finding the offsite parking lot, we never let weather (pouring rain, thunder and lightning) get in the way of a good time! Positive side, we had the place almost to ourselves and no sunscreen needed. Capt Remi, Elijah, Kelly and Izzy were a strong and knowledgeable crew. Highly recommend CBW. Danielle & Justin DeForest
It was a rainy day but the crew still made it enjoyable. We had Kelly, Izzy and Isaiah. Snorkeling got canceled due to the storms but we received a partial refund. I will definitely book this tour again on our next visit.
My wife and I celebrated our 40th anniversary. Last time to the Baths was over 20 years ago. It's changed a lot but still a dpectacular experience from the scenery to the Baths and the snorkeling. Had to wait awhile to walk the Baths because of the crowds but well worth it. The crew was awesome and made us feel special. Great experience. Would do it again.
If you like long lines and being herded around like cattle book early... To be clear it is a beautiful destination (see photos), but don't do a Boat - Bus tour to see it. Go on your own and explore, after 1pm when the tour boats are gone.
Wonderful trip. Awesome crew. The Baths were beautiful and the snorkeling spot was very nice. Highly recommended tour to see this beautiful place
We loved that this boat day made life easy. We just had to show up to adventure! They took care of our passport control going to the British Virgin Islands, lunch, drinks, snorkel equipment, and so on. Really liked that the price included everything. Shoutout to our incredible crew -- Marshall, Ryan and Diane! They made this such a great cruise day. Our drinks were full and spirits were high.
This is an incredibly overpriced trip for a very mediocre experience. You are required to stay with the group for the trail through the Baths, there is very little time spent there and the "gourmet lunch" at the Top of the Baths consists of limited pre-selected items such as a burger, chicken sandwich or chicken tenders. The snorkeling was beautiful at Norman but there are many spots on St. John to adventure to that don't take up the entire day with a lackluster crew and very underwhelming experience. Do your research as there are so many other options out there. We were very disappointed.
The staff and overall experience was great! The Baths were extremely crowded and you had to wait in line as you hiked through.
Super fun day! The scenery on the cruise to Virgin Gorda is breathtaking and the Baths are simply beautiful. It’s really a unique place. Then we enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Top of the Baths and a stop for snorkeling. Our crew was great. Highly recommend this excursion!
Great trip to The Baths and snorkeling at “Treasure Island”. The captain and crew were awesome! Very attentive, friendly and gave clear instructions so everyone knew the plan. It was a great experience, highly recommend!
The baths were crowded but was well worth the wait. The guides did a great job making sure everyone was able to get through safely. The snorkeling was amazing, so many fish to see.
From the outset, the trip there and back were beautiful bookends to an amazing excursion. Hats off to the captain and crew.
Boat ride was great and the crew was excellent. The actual Baths was way over crowded. Barely had time to make it through the grottos. I'm not sure it was worth it.
We had a great excursion to the Baths! The snorkeling spot was fantastic by the caves, really enjoyed seeing lots of fish. Whole process was organized; the crew was great and lots of fun! Boat was comfortable, food was great, drinks were delicious. Quick note to those looking at this excursion, just know there is a little bit of a hike to get to the Baths, which I personally enjoyed more than the actual end spot. But not everyone was prepared to walk a bit on uneven terrain and steps. Wear water shoes or good sandals to go in and out of water. They provide snorkel gear and towels, which was nice. The breakfast is mostly quick bites of fruit and croissants on the boat. Lunch at the top of the Baths was really good and I liked that we got to sit with other people from the excursion and chat.
This trip was exceptional! The boat was fantastic and the crew treated us exceptionally well. Nice boat ride to Virgin Gorda, shuttle to The Baths. Ample time to enjoy our stay there with a delicious lunch. Then, over to snorkel at Norman Island. We would highly recommend this trip!
I can’t believe how great this experience was. The modest price led me to think that corners would be cut, such as ‘open bar’ meaning beer and wine, or hors d’oeuvres being pretzels. Nothing could be further from the truth! The boat was a stunning very new catamaran that was as beautiful a craft as I’ve ever sailed on. The crew was friendly, efficient, and very knowledgeable. The food and drinks were high quality and readily available. This excursion was the highlight of my vacation in St. John!
It’s expensive and an hour and half boat ride from the Westin. Once there you wait in lines to go, one at a time, thru rock tunnels. There is a really nice beach/swimming area in the rocks but not a lot of time to do this. Snorkeling after was fun, the whole experience was fun, and the people were great, but I would have rather done the Lime Out or just a snorkeling trip. Wouldn’t do it again.
Our 8 hour tour included a boat ride (on Island Time) over to the Baths of Virgin Gorda, BVI. When we first arrived we explored the area by climbing through caves and crevices, sometimes with the aid of a secured rope. This was followed by a really great lunch (which we ordered ahead of time while on our way to the British Island). After lunch, we boarded the boat and went to the cove of Treasure Island (we were told this area was the inspiration for the book Treasure Island, by Robert Lewis Stevenson). The captain dropped anchor, we entered the water from the stern, and snorkeled. It was a lovely spot where we saw lots of beautiful, colorful fish, coral, and caves. After snorkeling we cruised back back to St. John (this time on the south side of the island) while drinking hand-crafted cocktails, made by the crew, and listening to Caribbean music.
Absolutely amazing time! Outstanding team and crew! Highly recommend this day trip to discover the beautiful nature we are so lucky to have.
It was ok. The tour operators were young and a bit nonchalant . They took off and lost people through the baths. Wear very good shoes . Very slippery. People were wondering and asking where to go. They were into their own thing like “omg Taylor Swift got engaged” could have been better. Baths are beautiful and so was the snorkeling
It is a great time. The boat ride alone was spectacular. There was more hiking than I expected. Wear shoes that can get wet and be prepared to get into some tight spaces
Captain Ryan and mate were great. Drinks were great. Lunch was ok. Snorkeling at Treasure Island was awesome. Virgin Gorda gorgeous!
The crew was very good and the trip was fun. Snorkeling was awesome. The baths were cool but underwhelming. The food was ready for us when we got there and it was hot and exactly what we ordered. Great crew who clearly loved their jobs.
Loved this excursion. Great for all ages. Would not recommend to anyone who gets motion sick as you are on open water for a good part of the tour. Boat to British Virgin Islands takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes - the Baths were not crowded when we were there which made them that more impressive - I can imagine it would not have been the same experience if a Cruise Ship were in town. Trip price includes everything except a tip. Capt. ReEmo and Eric were fantastic! I was overly impressed at the safety protocols they followed and adhered to. Snorkeling spot was fantastic - much better than expected. Open Bar on boat ride back to St. John. Clearing customs was a breeze. PACKING: As far as what to bring on board - you really don't need much. They provide snorkel gear and towels. You pack - Sunglasses and hat, Camera or Phone, Water bottle, small bag with Passport, Sunscreen, Credit Card or Cash if you plan to buy anything from the tourist vendors and maybe a 2nd layer if you get cold. I had a beach bag that I left on board majority of the time - and used a fanny pack/sling bag during the hike. I carried a water bottle on the hike - but wished I had not since you need both hands when climbing thru some of the passageways. A small water bottle that fit in fanny pack would have been better or none at all. Shoes are not allowed on the boat - barefoot only. They collect all shoes as you board and have them ready for you each time you disembark. Hiking the Baths and Rocks in flip flops was not easy - while the hike is easy - you are in water quite a bit and wet flip flops are slippery - I took mine off and went barefoot. No problems. Note: Make sure you do bring some sort of footwear (flipflops/slides etc) as shoes are required to clear customs. Overall, Great Operation, Great Crew and Fantastic Day all around. PS - if you don't have an international plan on your phone - make sure to turn off Roaming as you leave St. John dock.
Lunch was just so-so Crew was excellent Snorkeling was ok Very generous bar Overall experience was good
Great trip and crew! Everyone was very personable. They took great care of us! We definitely recommend this trip! Book the charter!
Our crew was great!!! Spence, Matt and Riley took care of everything and we just enjoyed ourselves. Boat was super clean including the head. Drinks were amazing and a really great selection not just rum punch. Food at the top of the Baths was amazing. I would recommend them anytime.
The highlight of our week. Relaxing time as we traveled to the baths. Requested a special song to be played and he made that happen. Very special to me.
This is a good tour, but not the best for these reasons: The boat is very loud compared to a catamaran, but it is comfortable. It is very warm at the bath area, and there’s a lot of trail, steep, rocky, and slippery to maneuver, and, if there are any seniors, it can be difficult. quite the walk down the trail, then, of course, there’s back up! Through the baths and caves, ladders have to be used, so there’s that also. The beaches you go to to swim are gorgeous however, and the lunch is fantastic, really. Snorkel stops proved to be a waste as so much of the reefs are dead, very little to see. Would I do it again, no, as the experience left me rather unsatisfied. However, the crew was wonderful and very helpful. Long expensive trip to somewhere rather ho hum!
Great experience, the staff were fantastic and knowledgeable. Breakfast was quick and easy but not extravagant, as expected on a boat. Lunch was great with incredible views of Virgin Gorda. I’ve done these types of excursions in other places and this was the most well-run and fun experience yet. 10/10 would recommend.
Most of this trip is very beautiful and relaxing but there were some aspects of it which I was not prepared for - even though I had read the description, spoke to Cruz bay Watersports on the phone, and read several reviews on this site before booking the trip. From about 10am - 12pm you are off the boat for a hike through the baths, swimming, lunch and shopping. During this time you can’t have a large bag- you can only bring a small bag that won’t hinder your mobility during the hike. I recommend bringing a water resistant draw string bag to pack a light towel, wallet, water bottle, sunscreen and hat. The hike isn’t exactly a nature walk- parts of it are difficult. It’s steep at times both up and down and into very tight places between rocks and has very steep stairways, like ladders. They tell you to hold onto the rope with both hands, which is hard to do if you are carrying your water bottle and other things in your hand because you didn’t bring a small bag. Also there are places to go swimming during this hike and you’re also hiking in water, which I found uncomfortable without a towel. I specifically asked whether to bring towels and they said not to because towels are provided on the boat. But those towels are only for the snorkeling/swimming after lunch. I would have been so much more comfortable if I had known to bring a lightweight quick dry towel and a drawstring bag. There really should add this to the list of things to bring. Hiking through the rocks, especially the steep and tight places, was hard for me but even harder being wet and sandy and then it was uncomfortable remaining all wet during lunch. But the lunch was delicious, the time on the boat is wonderful, all the staff is so nice and helpful, the snorkeling and swimming is refreshing and beautiful and the open bar had delicious drinks. It’s a lovely day. I just wish I had been better prepared for the hike part.
This was a great experience overall with a very nice crew with good vibes. There was plenty of breakfast while we motored to the BVI. The hike to the Baths is about 20-30 min and uneven with rocks and hills in the heat. The descent to the Baths requires traversing large rocks at steep angles and ladders with ropes. This experience is optimal for kids and able bodied adults. My husband and I (young adults) and the kids on the trip had a phenomenal time but we agree we would not bring our parents here. Lunch was at a restaurant and great. The snorkeling and open bar were both very fun.
The company functions like a well oiled machine to give you an excellent experience. The ship is pristine and well maintained, the crew is friendly and efficient and safety is the primary goal. We really enjoyed the whole day from the ride out to BVI with the excellent playlist to the beautiful Baths and rock formations to the incredible snorkeling to round out a wonderful day. I really enjoyed speaking with the crew who even though they were doing their job, you felt like that were invested in your having a great time. If there was one weakness in the entire day… I would say that the included lunch was just ok and we could have used a little more time to linger or have dessert. The lunch isn’t the fault of Cruz Bay but since they set up the pre ordering with the restaurant it would be nice to feel more like a restaurant guest than just having food plopped down in front of you. I would absolutely book more tours with this company since they know have to run a business and give their customers first rate experiences!
It took us 1 hour 50 min to get to virgin gorda and then 6 min to hike down to the beautiful rock formations and gorgeous beach. We were told we were allowed to stay there for 15 minutes! That’s not nearly enough time. Then when we headed back, we had to go through some tighter spots and given all the older people. It took 45 minutes to hike the 500 yards or so! Then we sat down for what turned out to be a solid lunch… But we waited 40 minutes to get our food! Food that was pre-ordered. Then we were told to rush through the food so that we can hop on the bus to get back to the boat. Then we went to a place to snorkel, but they only had 3 buoy’s to hook up to and they were full. So we meandered around for 20 min until someone finally left. The caves were interesting but there was almost no coral or fish. We did get to spend 45 min in the water but of course most people could only swim for 20 min or so. I would have preferred that we spent more time looking at the amazing beach or not waiting to get our food. The best part was we had to stop in St. John to go thru customs and they left 5 of us there!! We saw the boat leaving before we even got into customs. They might have had 50 people on the boat and they lost 10%!! Thank god it wasn’t when we’re were in the water! They eventually came back for my wife and I and this other family. We ended up getting back 45 min later than expected and missed our dinner reservation. Not one person apologized for leaving us at customs. The staff was friendly to a degree but not entertaining. Food on the boat and drink were fine. But to ride on a boat for 3:30 hours for 15 min at an amazing spot felt bad! Especially since we paid almost $800 for this trip!
Beautiful beach and fun scenic walk. Enjoyed our guide. Very expensive day ($1400 for 4 people) and had already paid for BVI entrance earlier in the week. Wish Jost trip could be combined with this trip.
