We went to the Westin St. John the last week of July 2026 with our Daughter, our Son in Law and 4 Grandchildren under 9. My Dad worked directly for the Marriott’s . I was raised attending family functions for Marriott employees and their families at Fairfield Farms and other events. I share this review as a loyal and partial Marriott member. We were expecting a top notch experience but received far less than that. We were all very disappointed. First of all we all felt very safe. The grounds are lovely. The beds were comfy. The rooms ( we had a studio and our daughter had a 2 bedroom villa) are out dated, I’m sure initially they were incredible. They’re just plain worn out. The kitchens are well appointed, but the fridge hummed and the front of the fridge and dish washer are stainless and look worn. It was nice to have a washer and dryer. Housekeeping emptied the trash every other day, that was it. ( We made our own bed, never knew when they were coming) 1 lotion for my husband and I, for the week. Rooms have vacuums and brooms. I used them often because we enjoyed the area beaches daily so it was sandy. The food on premises was, ok. The latte machine in the Deli ( Starbucks) was broken all week. The Pizza was pretty good according to our Grandchildren. We were SO grossed out by the large pool. I see this complaint in many review's. I did report it to the concierge. It was green in All the corners, the deck was black, the hot tub area was the same. We heard they are renovating the pool August15th. Great but, I couldn’t believe Marriott didn’t care about customers enough to keep the pool clean. I never once saw anyone cleaning or spraying the iguana poop and or dirt off the deck or checking the chemicals. Sand was in the same places all week, we were pretty sure it wasn’t vacuumed all week. I have to end on a positive. The staff was so polite and professional. From the bar staff, to the golf cart drivers to the Concierge Team, especially Jared. Would we return another year? NO! This resort is not up to Bonvoy standards.

It's just ok.. but I wouldn't stay here again .Not great for what you pay to stay here. Everything is $15 and up for food, you can easily spend over $200 a day on just getting two square meals a day for 3 people. Nothings open during the week except one deli, and it's packed because it's the only place to get food/drinks until late lunch/dinner time. Service is very slow or on "island time" as they say. But waiting 20 minutes to get a small salad dressing for a salad is a bit to long. Rooms weren't very clean, dusty air vents and on the walls, dirty hand prints on the walls and sand was still in the showers. The staff is friendly in conversation is my only positive remark.
Our third time here. Great experience again. This time we’re at the top of the hill in 3428. Awesome morning view to wake up to as you can see a decent amount of the harbor from the balcony and more from the primary bedroom. Everything was clean. AC worked great! Beds were comfy. Our room smelled fresh and clean. We always take advantage of the pool, Snorkels for lunch and Lemongrass for a dinner or two. Also the convenience of Cruz Bay tours for a visit to the BVI or another sailing option is great. In this trip I left my wallet with my “taxi cash” at home. I had ApplePay & Venmo in my phone (and passport) but the Westin was of no help in getting cash. The guys driving the carts saved the day. I Venmo’d them for cash offering a 10% premium. Some taxi’s also take Venmo. Kay and David Charles were two drivers who we interacted with regularly. They have lots of daily activities - you should get an email listing the activities for kids, families and adults.
We just went to the Westin on St. John for our honeymoon and we had an amazing time! The resort is beautiful and the service was outstanding. We stayed up on the hill in an 1 bedroom and we liked our room. Instead of walking up the hill we took the golf cart shuttles and had no issue getting one whenever we needed it. Our favorite cart driver was Llewellyn! He went above and beyond to make our trip awesome. All of the staff was very nice and helpful. There were lots of activities to do during the day and we easily got a cab into town whenever we wanted to go. The food at the restaurants on properly were good, I do wish there were more food options though. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay!
This is a TIMESHARE, not a hotel. I was confused by the conflicting reviews, while some people said it was nice, Others said the service was very lacking. I now understand because this is not a luxury hotel at all. If you go expecting hotel service, you will not find it. If you think of it more as renting a condo that has some amenities then you will be pleased. The rooms themselves are very nice and spacious, and the property is very pretty. There are activities such as Tennis and the pool, but they could use more considering the remote location, and the property did feel safe. however, they do not have breakfast service every day At the restaurant, you are forced to walk to the local market and buy things you can cook in the room. Taxis on the island are shared with as many people as they can fit, charged per person, think 15 person shuttle, so if you are a couple that could still be reasonable, but if you are a family, the costs become ridiculous to get to restaurants that are just ordinary. The beaches, however, are worth the trip.
