We did a private tour concentrating on Diocletian’s Palace. As it was 2 hours our guide was able to go in depth. We then were able to use a self guided walking tour for other sites in Split.

Worth splurging for private. Split is crowded and this allowed a much better experience. Katarina was excellent.
Great, informative history guided walking tour, chosen route to fit my handicap. We saw a lot, we were told a lot of interesting history facts about different times in Split, illustrated with pictures to make it more understandable when standing at the different places. Greatly recommended.
Great tour, doing private was a good decision, we got to speak to our tour guide one on one. It also helped to set the pace as I did the tour pregnant. Our guide was fantastic with lots of knowledge to share.
Katarina was a super knowledgeable tour guide providing the history of Split and the Diocletian Palace. I would definitely recommend her to solo and group travelers
The experience was absolutely amazing Ted as he like to be called was outstanding. Being a history teacher that he is, he did a phenomenal job. I would highly recommend him and hope one day to go back and get him again..
Katarina our guide was very friendly and brought to the life the long and varied history of this beautiful city
Katarina was very knowledgeable and provided really good history and context for the city. It was a very good introduction.
Good amount of time. Good to have a background of information. I typically dislike museums, this was a much more fun way to learn about the area.
Ted made the history of Croatia and specifically of Split both interesting and fascinating . The two hours went by very quickly . I highly recommend.
Our tour guide was an amazing historian and teacher. He captivated us with rich stories about Split's extremely interesting history over many centuries, pointing out unique architectural and historically significant details. He spent just the right amount of time at each location and left us with recommendations for further exploration well after the tour.
This was a very thorough and informative tour. I highly recommend the private tour, it's much more intimate and you get to see things that large groups would never experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Thank you!
Katarina is amazing guide. Interesting tour with experienced guide is what I trying to find in every city. Recommendation!!!
If you’re looking to learn some history while looking at some impressive sites, this is a great tour. The guide, Ted, provided a wealth of knowledge that allowed me to see the palace and city in a context that I would have missed had I walked it alone. He also pointed out little details that I would have walked right by. These are the sorts of things that really added to a beautiful day in Split.
A very interesting and meaningful tour, we had fun and we learned a lot about Split history. Katarina was very kind and willing to make breaks and answer any questions we had. I would definitely recommend this tour!
I took part in the tour with my friends from abroad, to whom I wanted to give this as a gift. They were delighted! Even I, as a local, learned so many interesting things about the city that I often visit and realized how unknown it was to me and how full of fantastic history it is. The guide was so interesting, professional and patient for all our questions and the experience is so welldesigned that I can really recommend it to everyone. Definitely put it in the plan when visiting Split.
Very informative and relaxing for a history buff like myself :-) It is a useful overview as one would miss a lot of details.
Very enjoyable tour with lots of history and anecdotes. Highly recommend! Off season travel meant avoiding the crowds.
I definitely recommend the walking tour in Split with Katarina! I walked the old town so many times but Katarina showed us places and sights I would never discover on my own. If you are in Split, dont miss it!
Our tour guide Ted was incredible! His knowledge of the history of Split was beyond our exp! He used pictures and maps for visuals to help us en capture the essence of the history. We could not have asked for a better tour guide!
Our guide was great. It was amazing to realize that we were living in a place the Romans built 1700 years ago.
The best walking tour od my life.Katarina was an entertaining guide. She walked us through the Diocletian's palace and told a lot of interesting local stories. She went above and beyond to meet the needs of our group.Thank you Katarina
We had a good summary about the origin of the city, a good panorama of the history and how the palace was (with photos and videos brought by the guide), it was really charming. When arriving in Split, first of all, this tour is well worth it. Katarina is a person's love. He spoke English slowly so my fikhos could understand.
We had the chance to be only two with Katarina. Our tour started early so we could visit without the rush. Super Guide who knows as much about the history as the current reality of the city. I enjoyed it very much
The Diocletian's Palace (Croatian: Dioklecijanova palača) is an ancient building complex that served as the retirement home for the Roman Emperor Diocletian, who was the only Roman Emperor in 305 AD. He left office voluntarily with his co-emperor Maximian. The Diocletian's Palace now forms the inner city of the Croatian port city of Split and was converted into an inhabited fortress after the Roman period, which was subsequently adapted to different cultural influences. Numerous buildings or structural changes from different eras testify to the lively history of the city of Split. UNESCO declared the downtown area of the palace a World Heritage Site in 1979.
