Our awesome tour guide Mia gave us a wonderful tour of the Split Palace. She was extremely knowledgeable of the history of the palace and just listening to her you feel the love she has for her home city. She gave us the opportunity to sit while giving us information which was greatly appreciated. When we walked by a shop while touring if we asked she would stop and let us quickly shop as the palace is quite a maze and on previous tours we never found our way back to the shops we wanted. This time we got our shopping done while touring. When the tour ended we felt like we were saying goodbye to dear friend. Highly recommend Mia and Jelena Vrancic private tours.

Jelena was awesome! We had a large group that we traveled with and figuring out the perfect tour for us was a breeze. Jelena is a great communicator, both for the intial tour setup and on the tour itself. We had some to make some slight changes for meeting locations, times, and drop-offs and Jelena was more than accommodating and helped us figure out the best options for us that would work with our schedule and group. Yes, the is tour heavily based on the history of the area, I'm not sure why anyone would assume otherwise; but if history isnt your thing or have group members with attention issues, maybe find something else. Our group had a great time, enjoyed how personable the tour was, and felt like we got more than the standard. On top of that, when we asked Jelena about balsamic glaze recommendations, she was nice enough to take a few extra moments to take us to an awesome spot, where we got some crazy good, authentic Croatian balsamic that would make your foodie auntie jealous! P.S. We went when it was drizzling, still awesome, but wear grippier shoes. I wore some worn slip-ons, and almost ate it.

We had an outstanding experience working with Jelena and Croatia Awaits during our trip to Croatia. Jelena lead us through Diocletian’s Palace and central city. She is knowledgable, entertaining and engaging. Our family had a fantastic time with her. She took time to explain the fascinating history of the area, answered all of our questions, and made special detours to show aspects (and treats!) that she thought our family would especially like. Meeting Jelena from Croatia Awaits after several months of correspondence from the USA was like meeting our long-lost sister. She helped us more than we could imagine in planning a fabulous trip to Croatia. Her kindness, knowledge and caring about what we did and all the fabulous details she attended to for us was just unbelievable. She set us up at the most beautiful hotel (Cornaro- where they welcomed us with open arms and took care of us like we were family), a wonderful, safe, driver who took us from Split to Dubrovnik and back again and then set us up with our tour guide, Natasha who spent the day with us giving a magical tour of Split. We felt so well cared for all day as Natasha knew so much about Split and all its history. She could recommend anything we asked for and was so helpful in our understanding of this beautiful city so rich in history. Jelena was unable to be our tour guide that day but made a special effort to come to the hotel to have tea with us since we had not met yet. This meant the world to us considering we had been communicating with her for so many months, so we thought that was over the top professional and wonderful of her. This trip to Croatia was one of the most fantastic trips we have taken in our lives. The culture, the water, the food, the people, the kindness expressed to all of us from every guide, hotel reservationist, driver, and restaurateur was so appreciated by all of us. All of these experiences would not have happened with Jelena at Croatia Awaits and we will send everyone we know going to Croatia her contact information. We can never thank her enough for making sure we had the trip of a lifetime, and we will always hold the whole trip close to our hearts forever because of her expertise about Croatia.

We absolutely loved our tour with Jelena. We have traveled a lot as a family and all agree that she is the best tour guide we have had ! We had adults as well as children in our group. She did so well making it enjoyable for adults and the kids too. My kids had so much fun and were sad when the tour was over. We have already shared Jelena‘s information with our family and friends. We had an absolutely wonderful tour of Split, Croatia, with Vicencija, booked by Jelena Vrancic through her company Croatia Awaits. This was a trip with my family. Our daughter has limited mobility, and she uses a wheelchair. The guide, Vicencija, was excellent. She was very informative and interactive with all of us. Her English was great, and her knowledge of all things Croatia was even better. Also, I must also give the highest regard and recommendation to use the services of Croatia Awaits (Jelena). Jelena helped us with every step of our trip in Croatia (transfers from the airport, hotel recommendations, and dining options). For the family with a child with physical disabilities, her service and attention to detail were superb. The whole experience was 5-star. Highly recommended.

We had Kristina for our guide today. My husband and adult children have told me all day what a great job I did picking her tour. She was both knowledgeable and personable. She picked up bits of my family’s personalities through conversation and adjusted her information and sites to suit our preferences without us needing to request anything.

We had an amazing tour of Split with Mia that really set the bar for our visit to Croatia! She shared so much information, filled with interesting details and personal anecdotes. As a native of Croatia, her knowledge of the history of Split was exceptional. At our request, Mia extended our tour to include the Temple of Jupiter and the crypt. Split is a lovely place and we really enjoyed our time with Mia!

We had the best time with Jelena! Her love for Croatia and the city of Split was obvious and it truly felt like we were touring with an old friend. Jelena's knowledge of the city's history is truly impressive and she shared it enthusiastically. She catered the tour to our interests, taking us to the Jewish quarter when I told her I was Jewish. She went so far as to recommend a restaurant for dinner (and book us a reservation!) as well as to recommend (and offer to book) a restaurant in Hvar, our next stop. Both dinners were absolutely amazing and our favorites in Croatia. We didn't want our time with Jelena to end!

We were picked up by our guide Vinka in front of our accommodation. Vinka was the best! She made us feel very comfortable and she was very knowledgable about the history of Split. My mum had knee problems and had to walk slowly with a cane, and Vinka was very considerate and would do her best to make her feel comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour! ❤️

Jelena arrived on time with a big smile and then explained the details of the tour over the next 3 1/2 hours. Jelena‘s knowledge of Roman history in Split and the under ground of Diocletian Palace was very thorough. She explained very well the different time periods and the resultant architectural differences leading to modern day times. We visited a few local artisan shops and purchased locally made chocolates and sweets. Overall an excellent and enjoyable 3 and 1/2 hours.

We had just one full day in Split, so I knew I wanted to make it count. I did a lot of research on tour guides on several sites. Jelena’s name stood out, and with good reason. Her combination of extensive knowledge, humor, and overall loveliness made our morning together so memorable! Thanks to Jelena, we were able to fully appreciate Split, the palace, and the substructures in our limited time. She is a master at “reading the room” and seems to have a gift for understanding what her client will most appreciate. When I wanted to linger somewhere, we did. Other times we just kept moving. Jelena took us on a tour of Old Town Split and by the end of our tour, I had invited her to come stay with us in the US! (Seriously!) She was so friendly and comfortable to be around, and knew exactly how to deal with our group of 6. Her tour was very, very interesting and she provided a great balance of ancient history and modern insights into the town of Split. I highly recommend her, and if I go back to Croatia, I will ask her to design the entire trip!

Jelena at Croatia Awaits exceeded our expectations. She really understood what we were looking for - we wanted high end hotels and restaurants and transportation and she did not disappoint! And once we were in Croatia and Montenegro, she was super responsive to anything we needed and made changes on the fly quickly. We got to swim in uncrowded coves, had meals at restaurants that were absolute gems and out guides were fantastic. She even sent croissants and bread from her favorite bakery, delivered to our room with a hand written note so we would have something breakfast before our 6 am flight. Highly recommended!

Vinka was such a wonderful tour guide. She was so knowledgeable about Split! She told us she grew up here as a child and had so much information. Since we did a private tour she met us at our apartment and even informed us the property used to be a school. I woukd highly recommend a private tour with Vinka!!!

This tour provides travellers to Split with a visit to Diocletian’s palace and other key spots around this really interesting city. I scheduled 2 tours for 8 people with Croatia Awaits this June, after a week long sailing charter from Dubrovnik to Split. Jelena (the owner) was very helpful setting up a Split Old Town Walking Tour, and a day to the Krka National Park; a UNESCO Site with beautiful waterfalls and Nicola Tesla (the Croatian inventor) historical site. About 3 months before we arrived, the travel plans for 4 people changed. She swapped the days and adjusted the # of people for Krka National Park, while on vacation herself! Jelena was the guide for Split. She was very engaging and knowledgeable about the History and Culture (she is from Dalmatia) of the area. Her command of the English language was deeper than most guides I have worked with; easy to understand, with a lovely British accent, and capable of answering any question we asked. This was truly the highlight of a month travelling in Europe; the city, the people and especially Jelena! Vicencija was the guide for Krka; also very knowledgeable and adept at changing the itinerary as we went. She made an effort to make the tour fun; listening to our interests and adjusting where we stopped along the way. Make sure you have time to have lunch at a special Tavern along the way; where we had the best meal in Croatia! Vinco was our driver who Jelena works with. He added in interesting local area knowledge as we drove and is a very good (safe and smooth) driver. He has both C and E-Class Mercedes depending on the size of your group; I know since we had to change the number of people due to travel changes... We were scheduled to board the Split-Ancona (Italy) ferry that evening, when we hit road work that would have delayed our return; he was able to change the route so we made the ferry on time! All in all, I can't recommend Jelena and her staff enough. I look forward to returning for another sailing trip and seeing more of the Dalmatian coast with Croatia Awaits!

Absolutely book a tour with Jelena! She did a great job of explaining Split history in an easy to understand format - she kept a perfect pace. We started under the palace and worked our way up through the old town. She also treated us to some typical Split/Croatian delights and gave us fabulous lunch recommendations. We take historical tours in every city we visit, and she is up at the top! Well worth your time and money.

She was also very patient in answering all of our questions and gave us good recommendations for how to spend the remainder of our time in Split. She also made an effort to customize our tour based on our interests. Not being in a large group was well worth the extra cost of this tour.
