This was a such a great tour. Our guide was Lucija who was very knowledgeable about the history of the palace, and she added some very interesting anecdotes. I highly recommend this tour. You will learn a lot about the history and some additional tales of Split.

Itinerary
We'll start our tour at main promenade Riva. You'll see a model of Split and hear an introduction about Diocletian, his Palace and Split in general.
We will pass through Substructures of Diocletian's Palace, a fascinating labyrinth of underground corridors and rooms that once served as the foundation of Emperor Diocletian's palace. As we explore this underground maze, you will marvel at the sophisticated engineering techniques used by the ancient Romans and imagine life within these rooms centuries ago.
On our way to the next stop - Vestibulum, the grand entrance hall of Diocletian's Palace - we'll walk through the southern parts of the Palace, where Diocletian's Apartments once stood, as wells as Triklinium (dining Hall) and his gardens.
Next stop - Peristyle! Peristyle is a unique experience, one of the closest touches of a modern man with the ancient heritage, not only Roman, but also Egyptian, as the Peristyle is closely watched over by a 3500 old and perfectly preserved sphinx, the witness of Split's history in making.
Our next stop will be the Golden Gate, a magnificent entranceway that once welcomed visitors into Diocletian's Palace with its grandeur. Then we'll head to the statue of Gregory of Nin. Legend has it that rubbing the statue's big toe brings good luck and grants wishes. So, don't forget to make a wish!
Just outside the walls of Diocletian’s Palace sits Pjaca (the official name: People’s Square. It is located just past the western walls of Diocletian’s Palace, at the exit of the Iron Gate. As the population grew, the palace became too small and Pjaca was the first area developed beyond the walls in the 14th century. Home to the former 15th-century city hall, Pjaca has been a gathering space for centuries, and it’s still a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee or a nighttime stroll.
There are several landmarks decorating this not so large a square thriving with city life in bars, restaurants and exclusive shops, a venue often used also by fairs. The biggest is certainly the octagonal Venetian tower, the leftover of the former fortress, built in the 15th century for the defence of, at the time, a small town. Opposite the tower is a magnificent Palace of the old family Milesi from the 17th century with a spectacular Baroque facade, one of the best examples of that style in the whole of Dalmatia.
As our journey comes full circle, we'll conclude our tour where it all began - Riva Harbor. From the ancient walls of Diocletian's Palace to the vibrant streets of Split, we've explored the rich tapestry of history and culture that defines this coastal gem.

This walking tour was brilliant. We have done different tours with our children in European cities but this was the best. Lucija was so lovely with my children, patient and gave them lots of interesting information. Great pace and catered to us adults and children.
A really great way to get to know Split. It’s obvious when you first step into the old town of Split that it’s full of history and taking a walking tour when you first arrive, helps you familiarise yourself with the place. Lucija was a really knowledgeable guide, taking us to the major sites of the palace and providing us with a lot of historical background. The tour was exactly what we were expecting, and really glad to have taken a private tour as it felt much more relaxed and we could interact with Lucija a lot more easily. I would definitely recommend!
Lucia gave us great insight into her city of Split, and walked us around Diocletian area, explaining the history from Roman times to the present, and the development of the area. Showed us many places we would not have found or understood the significance of without her. Her English is perfect and she gave us helpful tips for restaurants and places to visit. Plus we ended up being the only people on the tour, so had a private tour. Highly recommend Lucia as a guide.
This tour was a great introduction to Diocletian's palace and history of Split. We were lucky to have a private tour, just the two of us with charming local guide Lucija. She was a wealth of knowledge and shared lots of interesting tidbits as we made our way all through the palace area. We returned later to tour the parts that require an admission ticket.
My guide Lucija was incredibly knowledgeable of the ancient and modern history of the city, with an informal style which made it a very pleasurable experience. Her passion for Split and its culture were very evident and her recommendations of places to visit and food to eat (Pasticada !)were greatly appreciated. If there is one thing you do in Split you MUST do this tour. DT
We are so glad that we chose Lucia to acquaint us with the city of Split—her tour was extremely informative, engaging, and well-planned. She went above and beyond with recommendations to local restaurants, bars, and other excursion experiences. We recommend this tour to anyone visiting this beautiful place!
We were lucky to have just 2 of us in the group with our guide, Lucia who shared with us great stories about this lovely city
This was an excellent and enjoyable tour. Lucija is very knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Split and was more than happy to answer all our questions about Split and it history. It was very worthwhile and added greatly to the experience of visiting Split.
Highly enjoyed our walk through the old town. Guide told stories about the inhabitants of different palaces and gave insights on their interiors (as well as several restaurants and shops) along the way so we could go back in more depth on our own time. "Go Hadjuk!" Our small group was only 2 - so we lucked into a personal guided morning in Split. Tip: guide was standing near the Riva boardwalk trees rather than the gate used by other tours. A little trickier to find among the tourist crowds.
Excellent way to start a Split trip! Lucija was very knowledgeable and excellent at condensing information about the history of the city, as well as giving good recommendations about things to do in the area. A morning tour was a good choice, as was cooler and less crowded.
Relaxed, fun walking tour of Split! Great guide, cool stories, easy pace. Loved it, perfect way to explore the city! Highly recommend!
So much history this tour is a must! It helps to enjoy the town more and know what you’re looking at ! Our tour guide Lucija was fabulous!!

With just a day to spend in Split, this was the perfect tour to learn the history of the town. Lucjia was knowledgeable and friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour and our time in charming Split.
We were the only people on our tour, it was like a private one. It took in all areas of Diocletian's palace which is far more extensive than I imagined and was an excellent way to get our grounding early in our holiday. Our guide (Lucy?) was excellent, really knowledgeable and friendly. I can't recommend it enough.
This is a great cruise tour option. Split was beautiful, the architecture, the history, nothing to be disappointed about on this tour. Our guide was knowledgable, she did a great job in not rushing through the tour. Meeting place for cruise passengers was easy to find, save your money from over priced cruise tours and consider this one.

We booked this tour because it looked a bit more historical/cultural than some of the slightly cheaper hour long tours. I’m so glad we did. The tour guide is excellent and we felt we got to know Split so much better. She was happy to chat and answer questions. I would highly recommend booking this particular tour.

Me and my girlfriend went on walking tour with Lucija and it was such a great tour. Perfect pace, great explanation and knowledge of the city. We took great pictures, heard so many great stories about Split and loved every moment of it. What we liked the most is her friendly approach and being a part of a small group. Since we liked it so much we decided to book another tour with tour4you agency and went to private Krka tour the next day. Our driver was such a nice guy and the whole tour was amazing, from the waterfalls to a really nice lunch! Thank you so much, we will recommend you to all our friends coming to Croatia :)
Last week, I had the opportunity to join a walking tour in Split by Lucija, and I must say it was an incredible experience! From the moment we gathered at the starting point, Lucija's smile and enthusiasm immediately created a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Her way of leading the tour was exceptional—a perfect blend of informative content, humor, and personal anecdotes that brought the city to life in ways I couldn't have imagined. Lucija is clearly very passionate about Split and its history. Her knowledge is impressive, but what stood out about this tour was the way she conveyed that information. Every historical fact, legend, and story was told with such care and detail that I felt like I was traveling through time. I highly recommend this walking tour to anyone who wants to experience Split in the best possible way!
