This was the best Food Tour we've been on (previously done 3 in Italian Cities) - we try to do one at the start of our holiday to better understand our location and check-out 'real' food places.. It covered Split old town, which is quite compact (in good way). Our guide, Lucija, was excellent - knowledgeable and friendly. The tour was really well paced with walking and breaks. We not only had PLENTY of great food & wine, but also learnt some history and had some laughs along the way. All the locals we met were lovely and we were lucky to be part of a group of 10 really nice people (Americans, Australians and us 2 from UK). A fantastic experience, would thoroughly recommend you do it.
We had a wonderful time on our food and wine tour in Split! The food and wine were excellent, and exploring the area in and around Diocletian’s Palace made the experience even more special. Our guide Lucije was excellent - knowledgeable, friendly, and a pleasure to spend time with. This tour was a great way to experience the local cuisine, wine, and history of Split. Highly recommend!
Had a lovely time on Lucija‘s secret food tour. She shares her love of her city and introduced us to some hidden gems we would never have found on our own. Such a great way to get to know a city and its people and due to circumstances that led to a cancellation it was just the two of us with her. So special. Thank you
The best food tour I've been on and all the group thought the same. Lucija was extremely friendly and informative about the food, traditions etc. The tour was very varied and lasted four hours. I would highly recommend this food tour to anyone visiting Split. Well done Lucija
This was one of the highlights of our trip to Split. Highly recommend our guide Darko Pereza. His knowledge of the history and food was exceptional. The food was delicious and the servings were generous. We met some nice people at the stops and in our group. Wonderful time!
Darko was a wonderful guide and we enjoyed his expertise regarding the food and culture of Split.
We experienced a wonderful and interesting evening with excellent food and wine and an insightful guide.
Great Split food tour! We tasted burek, Dalmatian sweets, olive oil, wine, pork belly and cevapi, bruschetta with anchovies among others and it was all amazing. We actually returned to a couple of places to try more dishes. Our guide Lorena was fantastic. She was so kind to accommodate a gluten sensitivity with alternate options and making sure the restaurants used gluten free bread. We had fun and were stuffed by the end of the tour.
We had a lovely morning tour at 11am, great variety and set us up go explore the town ourselves. You will be very full so probably plan to eat light in the evening..we sampled so many different things, pastries, burek, fish, olive oil, very sweet lavender shop for the local drink, wines, and the green market. Our guide Lorena was very friendly and organised and kept us moving.
This is my second tour with Secret Food Tours. I did one in Ljubljana. Similarly this one was also awful value. There's no way it should cost this much when there are so many filler items like pastries and breads. The truffle tasting is also a joke because it's already just the samples the store offers to regular guests. Even the main course, pork belly and cevapi are relatively cheap proteins. There's no reason this tour shouldn't include one of those fish/seafood platters you see in most Croatian restaurants. The seafood you do get is bruschetta with anchovies and the fried, small seafood (sardines, baby shrimp). The guide was great. If I was just rating him and his added history I'd say five stars. Unfortunately he's weighed down by the poor value of this tour.
Our guide was guide, provided lots of interesting information about the country , city, culture and specific things. Loved winding through the city center’s windy alleys, paths, etc to find a small locally owned gem. Food and drink were great….would definitely do it again and recommend to others!
Amazing tour and food in old town Split. A great variety of food and with a wonderful guide Lucinda?
We had Darko as our guide. Incredible experience in both history and food!! A must do when visiting Split. Thank you!!
Amazing guide-Darko… wonderful local food choices and quite substantial. Darko knew a ton about the Palace and region… A+ evening!
We really enjoyed the mix of food, wine and history on our tour. Darko was our guide and he made the experience for us. Highly recommend, especially with Darko!
An excellent tour guide and huge portions of food. Drinks were great
We had just the best tour with Lucija. She is so knowledgeable about her city - country and the food. The food places we visited were all great - lots of variety in food and environments. We went to bakeries, little bars, fish markets and green food markets and sampled all the wonderful food and wine that went with each course. I would highly recommend this tour. We will be returning to these places over the next few days of our time in Split
Come with an empty stomach! Experience and taste the foods of Croatia! Lucia was an excellent guide - telling us about the history of Croatia as well as tge stories behind some of their native foods and wine.
If I could rate this tour more than 5 stars I would!!! Darko went beyond and above to make sure we had a great time, not only eating traditional Croatian cuisine, but teaching us so much about the history of Split. He was absolutely amazing!! I would HIGLHY recommend this tour, and DARKO, specifically.
Really thorough and knowledgable guide (Darko) that took us to multiple historical sites and food stops. The food portions were plentiful. I think 3 of the stops had wine. All around a good experience to try dishes we may not have.
These Secret Food Tours are a wonderful introduction to any city. Not least this one in Split. It was a very relaxed way to quickly get under the skin of the place with a good local guide. You get lots of information on history, landmarks, the people and life of the city. But this is more relaxed and easier to remember over great local food and wine in a small group. Our guide Lucija was exceptional good, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She made the event a bit extra special with her attention to her guests. We can highly recommend this tour.
We met Lucia with her orange umbrella as advertised. She was very passionate about the job and loved to answer questions and keep everyone informed about the city she grew up in. Both food and wine were a plenty. Highly recommend!!
Lots of food, all delicious! Lucija was an engaging and excellent guide! Highly recommended her and this tour!!
Amazing food and great guide!
Knowing very little about Croatia and the magnificent city of Split we could not have had a better tour guide. Lucija was very knowledgeable about the city she adores as was expressed at every location we went to today. From the white wine on a very hot day to the special pork cevapi all was well planned and served with a smile. Lucija gave us great insight into her home town and we look forward to returning one day. Many thanks, Lucija!
Lucijana was an incredible guide, sharing her love and knowledge of her hometown and introducing the delicious food of Split.
Amazing tour and excellent Guide on Monday 27th July. Loved it and the food and wine was great. Lovely welcome from all the stop points.
Awesome food tour. Had a great time Lucija our guide was amazing.
Lucija was an excellent guide- knowledgeable, diplomatic and accommodating. Generous portions, great variety and nice wine.
Lucia was fantastic! She was knowledgable, energetic, warm and engaging. She was a delight to be around and offered us so much information beyond the delicious food. Please ask for her.
This was an awesome experience! Our tour guide, Lucija, took us to the best food places and was so knowledgeable about Split and Croatia in general. She spent extra time with us and was so fun. She even sent a list of helpful things after the tour, like what else to see, where to eat, where we stopped, etc. The other guests in our group were so diverse and fun. 10/10 experience!
Lucija took us on a wonderful tour around Split, sharing information about the old city and Croatian cultural wisdom. And of course the local food and wine was excellent! I loved all of it, the crispy skin pork belly in the green market was my absolute favourite.
Knowledgeable tour good that knows the local food scene. Lucija pointed out historical sites along the way. She explained how the locals celebrate with food and the importance it plays in their cultural. Every place we went the food was excellent and the people were hospitable. A good value for the money.
Lucjia was simply great and very experienced
Very nice and tasty to do! The guide Lucia was fantastic!
Very nice to do! In addition to the tour of the old town with the interesting facts of our guide Lucinda, we could also enjoy delicious local specialties. A tip: if you start the tour at noon, make sure you have a light breakfast, because you really get more than enough!
