What a fun experience. Chef walked us to the market where we picked out fresh vegetables and fish before heading to the cooking school. Throughout the walk Chef told us about history of the city and personal stories of growing up in Croatia. There were liqueurs and wines with charcuterie to welcome us. The meal we prepared was extensive, with mix of classic dishes, preparing fish three ways. We learned the techniques of cleaning our fish in addition to making the recipes. This was truly a learning experience throughout. Most importantly, the food was so delicious! Chef was such a wonderful teacher and host.

I have to say: my Split Cooking Class experience turned out to be absolutely brilliant. I’d been on tenterhooks for weeks because it turned out I was the only one who’d signed up for the morning class on 9 September 2026. Nothing is organised for just one person. Ines, head of sales, did her best and, sure enough, at the last minute Galit and Dan signed up too. That morning we met up and were welcomed by Bruna – what an incredibly friendly woman and inspiring expert master chef she is – who enthusiastically and humorously guided us through the finer points of Dalmatian cuisine. Throughout all those lessons, not a single culinary detail was overlooked – a proper cooking class: shopping, preparing, enjoying! Twelve traditional dishes, each a burst of flavour, cooked using various techniques and accompanied by matching wines. Yummy!! Galit and Dan were very pleasant company; I enjoyed their stories and perspectives – they really added to the festive atmosphere. They told us that on every trip they take around the world, they always take a cookery course somewhere. But this one was exceptional – usually two or at most three dishes, but now twelve… unforgettable. Hats off to them! I have to say it again: Split Cooking Class is top-class for foodies. Bruna, a huge thank you for this exceptional gastronomic experience. ❤️ ❤️
6 of us took this cooking class. The teacher/chef was knowledgeable, friendly, and enthusiastic. We enjoyed the time and learned a lot. Each of us could do as much or as little as we wanted. The food we cooked was good and we enjoyed our time. Highly recommend!
Great experience preparing a five course meal with the direction of a professional chef!
So much fun and fabulous food! Bruna was a wonderful instructor. From the walk through the vegetable and fish markets to spending time in their cooking school, it was an amazing and delicious few hours!
Outstanding experience ! Don’t miss the market !!!! Great cooking experience, amazing meal. Knowledgeable team.
This was an exceptional cooking class. My husband and I try to take a cooking class on most of our trips and this is one of the best we have taken. The food we prepared was delicious, the chefs were informative, fun and very well organized. We all got to participate in the preparation of the meal and we enjoyed getting to meet other people on their travels!! We loved the visit to the market to buy the veggies and fish we would be preparing!! You can’t go wrong taking this class! You’ll be a highlight of your trip to Croatia
Amazing experience and even more than we had hoped for! We got a tour of the fish and green markets and learned so much. We loved getting to do hands on cooking. There was plenty of time for enjoying the food and wine and company as well. The chefs were excellent teachers and very fun. Thank you!!
Željko and Petr were awesome! From a leisurely walk around the green market to get our veggies and then the fish market to get our fresh fish, we stopped along the way where they shared all sorts of cultural insights, including their own personal experiences having grown up in the Split area. The cooking instruction was awesome, the food even better. The entire team was interested in more than a cooking class. They are truly passionate about what they do and want to share the Croation culture with visitors. Highly recommend.
Absolutely wonderful! The 2 Chefs that we went to the market with were very knowledgeable. The group was very friendly and hands on. The meal we all cooked was divine! Great activity! Highly recommend!
This was the best experience of our trip! Bruna was an incredible host & teacher. The food was delicious thanks to her expert instruction.
This was an amazing experience!! I would highly recommend this if you are visiting Split. The class was so unique and informative and really let you step into the culture! The food was amazing and our instructor was great!
This was one of the highlights from our time in Split. Our chef, Petar, was incredible! He met us near the farmer’s market to buy fresh produce for our meals and shared the history and rules of the market. We then stopped at the fish market-a building we had passed many times but never knew what it is until this experience. Back at the academy, we learned how to check that fish is fresh as well as how to clean them. While we cooked, we tasted four different liqueors-walnut, carob, lemon, and elderberry-all delicious! The food we prepared was delicious-baked dorado, sardines, sea bass carpaccio, calamari risotto, grilled veggies, homemade bread, chard and potatoes, salad, and rozata cake. We left with full bellies and new cooking skills to use when we return home.
This was FANTASTIC! We loved the visit to the local produce and fish markets to start the tour and learning the history of the city along the walk to the cooking school. We also learned how to clean fish and test that it’s fresh. Our lead chef was wonderful (our class ended up being private), teaching us how to cook sardines, dorado, carpacchio, risotto with calamari, homemade bread, and rozata cake. I highly recommend if you are a foodie and want an authentic Dalmatian experience!
This was such an excellent experience. The instructor was incredibly knowledgeable, explained everything very well and was fun to be with in the kitchen. I learned how to clean a fish, something that has always intimidated me, and he made it so easy. Our meal was delicious, we made so much food I won’t need to eat again today!
We had a wonderful experience cooking wth Bruna on our recent trip to Split. We were fortunate enough to have a private class where we cooked numerous local dishes, the focus on seafood. I learned how to cook risotto the right way, as we were lead by the excellent chef Bruna. We really enjoed our experience with her and highly recommed this cooking class if you visit Split.
Five hours went quickly, green market then fish market then walk to cookery school, light snack before preparing sea bass ceviche, prawn risotto, fried dabs, salad potatoes and beans. Expert and fun tuition from Bruna, thank you.
Wonderful chefs, food, brandy and wine! It was great fun to prepare the food with the chefs then enjoy the deliciousness of it all. They made it fun and interesting! Great experience. Highly recommend.
We've taken cooking classes from Greece to Peru. This was one of the most fun and educational classes we've taken. Our chefs were entertaining and informative guiding us each step. The final product was delicious and filling. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Thoroughly enjoyed our cooking class and our learning and laughing experience. Chef Željko Neven Bremec is a world class chef. He educated us on the food we were about to prepare as as well as the benefit (taste in depth of flavor ) of preparing it according to his recipe. Our entire group enjoyed the meal as well as the process of making the food. It was a fun and uplifting experience. Definitely recommend split cooking.!
We had high hopes for this class. We travel frequently and enjoy cooking classes as a way to learn more about the culture of the places we are visiting. Unfortunately, this class did not meet our expectations. Our chef was nice, but not a seasoned professional as advertised. Our trip to the markets were very brief, with no additional explanation of the different things grown in this area. After a quick walk, we arrived at the studio - which was a small culinary school. The aesthetic was not warm or welcoming, but more like a high school foods lab. The meal prep was not as hands on as we would have liked - appetizers were already prepared, wine was just opened without further info of what we were drinking. Of course we asked questions, but were used to more of a conversation instead of QA session. The meal itself was just ok - nothing I look forward to recreating at home.
A very nice and well done class about Fresh fish recipes common in split. Included trip to fish market to teach us how to buy the fish we want.
Amazing day with Bruna. We learned and made soooo many dishes and loved that we went and bought the veggies and fish before. Perfect half day on split.
Great family experience with an amazing chef. Fun way to see the markets and learn more about the city of Split!
The whole day was great! We met Drago at the green market where he purchased vegetables, and then to the fish market. After that we walked to the cooking academy and had a fantastic snack of bread, cheeses, meats, anchovies and wine. Everyone chose a task to prepare the feast we had. It was great fun to prep and cook the fish and vegetables. The food was outstanding and our chef was knowledgeable and fun! We had so much fun and enjoyed everything this had to offer. I highly recommend this!
This cooking school experience was excellent! The cooks are pros - and passionate about Croatian food. We prepared an entire meal after buying produce at the market. Each guest can participate as much or little as they like making the experience perfect for everyone! Also, great tour and history as we walked from the market to the cooking school. Thank you for a wonderful experience in Split!
Our fairly large group had a fantastic time at the Split Cooking School. The chefs guiding us were fun, kind, helpful and clearly managed us well. The food we prepared was outstanding. I was so impressed that the chefs accepted our techniques while gently guiding us in new methods. Wine flowed and we all had a fabulous time together!
My wife and I did the Morning Class and Markets Tour with Chef Zeljko. We started in the Green Market purchasing potatoes, chard, zucchini, eggplant, lemons and herbs while Chef chatted and waved to the many people he knew. We then headed to the Fish Market with a brief history and walking tour through the old town alley ways. In the Fish Market we purchased fresh sea bream and sea bass for what would become a delicious lunch. We learned some new techniques and had several laughs, sipping on homemade brandy and local wines while preparing our feast. Dishes included sea bass carpaccio, baked sea bream, homemade bread, grilled veggies, potatoes and chard, fish pasta and flan for dessert. In addition to learning new things and an amazing lunch, we had a blast hearing Chef’s stories laughing throughout. My wife who doesn’t even cook had a lot of fun and great experience.
I did the class in the afternoon/evening with a group of 14 people. It was a very good class. We prepared four kinds of fishes, vegetables, a salad, a mussel risotto, bread, and a flan like dessert. We were in teams so not everyone did everything, but that was fine. The instructors were great. They had complete novices scaling and cleaning whole fish. There was plenty of wine and the resulting meal was a feast. One of the best cooking classes I have done. Highly recommended.
great fun. we were a bit skeptical but loved every minute of it from shopping for ingredients at the market to preparing and eating. lots of laughs and fun. frankly we were very impressed with ourselves at the incredible meal we pulled together which included bread, salad, main, sides, and dessert. we did not realize how easy it could be under the expert leadership of our chef who was friendly, calm, campetent and a great instructor.
My husband and I went to the class, hesitantly I might add as neither of us really enjoy cooking. What a wonderful surprise! Marin, our chef, picked us up at the hotel and we walked to the market to get fresh ingredients, including fish. Marin was wonderful I n showing us how to do what we needed to do and then let us do it, monitoring all of the time. So much fun! And the food was delicious. if I might say so myself. Thank you Marin and the Split Cooking School.
Very fun time with a great group of people! Chef was wonderful….good teacher and great sense of humor. His assistants were also very good and helpful. Was amazed we could get a meal together so quickly!
What a marvelous experience! The trip to the fish market was an educational experience. The class centered on local cuisines and how to prepare them. If there was a 10 rating I’d give it.
We had a great time. We walked through the city a bit on the way to the fish market, got some veggies and walked to the cooking spot / kitchen. Our guide shared some history as we walked. We cook a lot, learned a lot and enjoyed all the food. It was a fun and filling few hours. Whew, it was a ton of fun and food. Our chef was super personalbe. Go and enjoy!.
We had a fabulous day with Petr, the chef. We enjoyed shopping at the green and fish markets. And then enjoyed a morning of making a number of delicious and interesting dishes. From fresh bread, to fish carpaccio, a platter of of Swiss chard with potatoes, baked sea bass, squid risotto and crème caramel and more. Learned a lot. Informative and fun day. Highly recommend. Beautiful kitchens. Memorable day.
Do not miss out on such a luxury. The Chef was amazing. The food was fantastic. I would do it again tomorrow. Great way to get the history of the markets. The fruits and fish. And FUN!
We were on a Cruise & we picked the cooking class as a shore excursion. We love to learn about the culture of a place we visit through the food of a region and this class was a perfect fit. There was plenty of hands on during our session & I can say that I managed to scale, gut & fillet a fresh fish from the Adriatic. We got to cook & taste squid rissotto with black ink which is a traditional dish. The rissotto was cooked in a homemade stock prepared during the lesson so the dish was DELICIOUS. I can't believe the number of dishes that we managed to complete during the session. It was a 3 course feast which included a traditional chard potato dish, grilled vegetables, homemade bread, citrus ceviche and a citrus infused creme caramel. Thanks for the delicious welcome liqueur & platter plus the delicious glasses of locally produced wine. We had to take an Uber back to the boat!
Just a fabulous experience for the home chef. We learned new Croatian techniques, fish market experience & hands on class. Great fun!
We had the most incredible experience with this cooking class in Split! From the start, our private chef guided us through both the fish market and green market, teaching us so much along the way. Marin was so unbelievably knowledgeable, and his passion really shines. Both my partner and I love to cook (he even more than I do!), and this class was a highlight of our trip. We laughed nonstop, shared stories, even bonded over our favorite movie Ratatouille. The food, the wine, the snacks — everything was absolutely delicious. This wasn’t just a cooking class; it felt like an experience we’ll be talking about to everyone we know. We would do this again in an instant. If you’re in Split, don’t miss it — truly unforgettable!
Tldr: Yes, it's worth the price! So, this cooking class is bit on the expensive side so we were a bit wary but oh man did it deliver! The market tour, that also included a short history lesson about the Split old town, was nice and I loved seeing the markets and hearing about them. Before class, there were these small appetizers and local brandy to sample which was nice and tasty little touch that set our spirits high. And the class itself... easily 10+/10! It was cooking from the scratch and you learn to fillet a fish, to take a squid apart, all these technical skills and it's very hands-on that even a total knife-dummy like me could make a lovely fillet! The recipes were easy enough to follow and the food was plentiful and tasty, even better than some of the restaurants we have tried! And wine? If you like it, you can drink it! We've been to several cooking classes and they have all been good, but this is just easily one of the top experiences.
This experience was great. It was really easy to meet with with the chef, walked around on the way to the school and got some history and seeing the fresh food available. Zeljko took the time to answer all my questions and work with me while cooking. It was an overall great experience. Highly recommend!
I took the Split Cooking Class with my two teenage boys and we had the best time! My parents gifted this to us because they did it the year prior and enjoyed it so much. Our chefs, Ivana and Bruna, were lovely. They took us on a stroll through the fresh market to pick up vegetables and fruits for our meal. We also walked through the fresh fish market. I loved how everything we used was fresh that day from the market. Once back at the culinary school, we were given delicious appetizers, coffee and tastes of their local homemade liquors while they prepared the kitchen for cooking. We drank local wine while we learned how to prepare & cook multiple different kinds of fish, homemade bread, prawn risotto, multiple side dishes/salads and dessert. The two chefs walked us through all the steps to prepare each dish while they explained each process and why the processes are in place. The food was incredible and enough to feed an army! I had two entire plates! I would absolutely recommend this to anyone visiting Split.
This was one of our highlights of our trip. Everything about the cooking class was excellent - walking around the markets and through the town, cooking the delicious food, eating the delicious food, and last but not least Ivana and Bruna were so engaging and lovely. Highly recommend this cooking class to everyone!!! Thank you so much!
I took this Split Cooking Class on July 4th, 2025, and it was truly one of the highlights of my time in Croatia! Chefs Ivana and Bruna were warm, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience both fun and educational. There were 9 of us in total (all Americans—myself, a family from Chicago, and another from Virginia), and we instantly bonded over our love for food. We prepared an incredible variety of dishes: sea bream and branzino, grilled vegetables, seafood risotto, fresh pasta, salad, green beans with potatoes, homemade bread, baked fish, ceviche, and even a lovely custard for dessert. It was a full-on Mediterranean feast! Before we started cooking, we enjoyed a tasting of excellent local white wines, paired with prosciutto, cheese, and olives—absolutely delicious. The class was held in a professional culinary academy kitchen that was spacious and well-equipped, making it easy to work together and learn. Best of all, we got to enjoy the fruits of our labor together at the end. We started around 5:00 pm and wrapped up by 8:30 pm, full of food and great memories. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Split who wants a hands-on culinary experience and a taste of authentic Dalmatian flavors!
Our day started with a visit to the Green and Fish markets to select the freshest ingredients for our dishes. We walked back to their culinary center which was state-of-the-art and we put on our cooking aprons and got to work! This was very hands-on and we learned so many new techniques. Our favorite dishes we prepared were the shrimp risotto with homemade stock, the salt-crusted fish, and the Swiss chard/potato dish. We were served delicious Croatian Wine and enjoyed our huge feast at the end of the class. This experience was so much fun and highly recommend this while in Split!
This was an exceptional experience. Our chef Marjin was very knowledgeable and helpful while teaching us. Going to the farmers market and fish market to procure the ingredients for our meal added an interesting layer to the fun. We made a huge feast and had a wonderful meal at the end! Wonderful choice for an interesting experience.
An outstanding experience; one of the highlights of our two-week trip to the region. I can't say enough good things about our Split Cooking Class, as the hosts were friendly and patient, taught us new things about cooking and Croatian food, and guided us as we made a great meal. It was awesome. The only complaint I have is that they gave us an appetizer of cheese and meat to start (maybe it is a Croatian thing) which meant I used some of my stomach on good food instead of having more room for outstanding dishes prepared by the group. I highly recommend this class!
We took our team to the Split Cooking Class and had an amazing experience. We learned about how to choose fresh fish, how to make a stock, and so many other great lessons. They gave each person the opportunity to participate and had wine and delicious snacks which enhanced the experience. Best of all was eating an incredible meal that we had helped prepare. Petar and his team were amazing!
We were on a tour of Croatia with 11 other travel mates and this cooking class was arranged for us by tour group. It turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip! We met two chefs in the lobby of our hotel around 9:15, went shopping at the local fish and vegetable markets for all the fresh ingredients used in the class and proceeded to the school. We were greeted by the master chef and served some appetizers and wine while the process was explained for the class. Everyone was assigned a job and guided through each step and together we prepared many dishes which we all got to enjoy at the ended of the class! A fabulous experience not to be missed if you are visiting Split!!
I had a great time during this cooking class. We went to the market, made several dishes, and got to try local wines and desserts. I think the value of this cooking class was beyond worth it. I had a great time and Chef Bruna was so kind and patient! If I'm back in Split, I would love to do it again. Thanks for a fun experience!
