These two towns were great examples of centuries old history! Our guide, Andrej, was born here and very knowledgeable.

Itinerary
Trogir is a UNESCO World Heritage town known for its beautiful mix of history and charm. Founded more than 2,000 years ago, it has seen Greeks, Romans, and Venetians all leave their mark. The old town sits on a small island, linked by bridges, and is perfect for exploring on foot. Its narrow stone streets, hidden courtyards, and small squares create a special atmosphere that feels like stepping back in time. At the heart of Trogir stands the Cathedral of St. Lawrence, famous for its 13th-century portal carved by Master Radovan. The palm-lined waterfront is another highlight, with cafés, boats, and the Kamerlengo Fortress offering wonderful views of the sea and town. Though compact, Trogir is truly unforgettable.
Diocletian’s Palace is the heart of Split and one of the most remarkable Roman monuments in the world. Built around 305 AD by the Roman emperor Diocletian as his retirement residence, the palace is more like a small city than a single building. Within its massive walls you’ll find a maze of narrow streets, lively squares, and centuries of history layered together. Highlights include the Peristyle, once the ceremonial courtyard; the Cathedral of St. Domnius, originally Diocletian’s mausoleum; and the underground cellars, which give you a sense of the palace’s original scale. Today the palace is still alive, filled with shops, cafés, and homes. Walking through it feels like stepping into living history — where the Roman past meets the everyday life of Split.

Excellent tour! Silvio was helpful and informative. He answered all our questions and made the trip very easy and comfortable got us! Highly recommend!
The tour started at Port in Split the guide was very easy to find the group and get started .Ivan was our guide he gave us explanations from a personal perspective not just a whole bunch of statistics and dates which made everything more memorable The bus was comfortable and modern the group was small consisting of only 12 . Overall an experience well worth doing and so much better than booking through the cruise line
Our tour person was so personable and accommodating. He knew the town so well because he lives there which you even got a better knowledge about Split. I would highly recommend him.
We had a wonderful day touring Trogir and Split with Mario. He was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. He recommended places to get coffee and pizza (which was delicious). We would definitely recommend this tour. Thank you for a great day!
The tour was well managed and our tour guide, Joseph (I know that isn’t the proper Croatian spelling) was knowledgeable, friendly, and entertaining.
Mario was very knowledgeable about all things Trogir and Split. Excellent communication skills, proficient in English, fun, and friendly. Highly recommend this tour for anyone seeking historical perspective of sites visited and the area in general.
This was a great tour, took us to the island of Trogir which was lovely. Our guide Joe was very informative and made the trip fun. We were allowed a reasonable amount of free time to explore on our own. We then went to Diocletian’s Palace where Joe again was very knowledgeable. The only quirk was the description said we had the option to be dropped back at the port but that was not the case. It was not a problem for us, but might be for some. Overall a very good experience
We had a wonderful day with Mario and would thoroughly recommend this trip. Mario was very knowledgeable and gave us a balanced and interesting overview of the history in Trogir and Split. We very much enjoyed his company and expertise.
Joseph was a fantastic guide. Knows his Croatian history and everything about Dubrovnik. Headsets provided, clear explanations and a great sense of humour. Limited to group size of 30. Would definitely recommend.
Our guide, Marin was friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and kept the pace perfect for our group. Communication beforehand was clear and professional. He shared fascinating history stories without ever feeling boring or rushed, & answered every question we had. Highly recommend taking this tour!! Thank you for the experience!!
They had an excellent tour with Mario. He was very knowledgeable and friendly and did a great job. We really enjoyed this tour. We got to see a lot of TRO GIR and the palace in split.
Trogir is not to be missed. Marin was a knowledgeable guide who was obviously proud to show off his country to visitors. The history of the old city of Split was also fascinating. The guide also was very considerate of his guests’ comforts and needs.
We had Joe as our guide. Must say he was very knowledgeable and has an awesome sense of humour. Also show a lot of empathy towards one of the participants due to a family emergency back on the boat & to a lady who fell over, he went to help!!
Joseph was young, energetic, knowledgeable and personable. He was a bit theatrical at times. He was also very professional and caring.
This experience was rich with Croatia culture, fascinating architecture and incredible views of the country side.
Marin was fabulous as a tour guide. It shows his love and passion for his country. He was so knowledgeable regarding the history of the area. He made the trip so enjoyable. We will definitely will be to coming back.
Silvio was so informative. He knows everything about the history of Trogir and Split. We learned so much! He is also a great driver, his van is very clean and the A/C worked beautifully!
We had a wonderful time with Mario exploring Split and Trogir and learning about such beautiful places. He was very knowledgeable about Croatia’s history and tailored our tour to our specific requests and interests, and it was a pleasure getting to know what life is like for young Croatians. This was the perfect choice for our cruise excursion and we highly recommend booking a tour with Mario!
Lots of fun! Our tour started late due to rain but we made the most of it! Nice to see two different cities and learn about history while have a snack or two along the way! Mario and the team were great!
Mario was fabulous. He was prompt and very knowledgeable and is native to the area. They made it easy and made for a wonderful day.
Marco was truly a wonderful tour guide. He was concerned about our needs and interests in order to make our tour suit our group.
Needs to get a traveling walking headsets other than that its was a great tour, driver and guide did awesome
Josip, our guide, made this tour one of our favorites. Right amount of historical perspective and free time to enjoy the beautiful area. His sense of humor was delightful.
We were traveling on a Celebrity tour and were hesitant to take an activity outside the ship activities but we are so glad we took the excursion. The tour was in constant contact with us and gave clear instructions and met us just outside the ship. The vehicle was a brand new sprinter and we had Ivan as our tour director. Ivan was informative and made the tour interesting. We had an incredible time and we were so glad that we experienced this tour.
Our guide Mario M. was fantastic! The tour provides a great way to see and learn all about the the history of Trogir and the history of Split and Diocletian's Palace. Mario M. was a fantastic guide. He was engaging, friendly and personable, and was very informative talking about the sites we visited. We loved our time with Mario M. and can't say enough good things about this tour. If you are looking for something to do in Split, you should absolutely consider this tour for the value. So glad we did this tour. Fantastic!
We ended up with a private tour. Silvio gave an amazing tour of Trogir and Split. The cities we busy, but we saw a great deal and had ample time to explore on our own.
Judita and Silvio were both very knowledgeable, and very engaging people to learn from. We had more fun than one should expect from a tour; like visiting with good friends!
WOW What a trip. Our guide Mario was Super. 😊 He was knowledgeable friendly and attentive. I wish all my guides were like Mario. It was a fantastic trip /tour. Would highly recommend. Thanks
Mario was great. We are in our 70’s and do not move as fast as younger people. Mario took the time and explained everything. I highly recommend him.
We had a great time on our Split and Trogir tour during our port day in Split, Croatia. Our tour guide, Judita, was excellent. She was very fun. She had a lot of fun facts and information about the area and really did a great job showing us the two locations. We had plenty of time in both locations and still had free time in Spilt to catch a meal, do some shopping or just sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery. I highly recommend this tour
The pick up was flawless. Our guide was the best of all of our excursions this trip. He was knowledgeable, clever, funny and most importantly, easy to understand. Trogir was a beautiful city and the highlights pointed out by our guide made us want to come back. Split was a great experience as well, despite or guide leaving us behind at the golden gate, we were easily able to rejoin the group with help of the company contacting him. He was able to return us to the ship so we didn’t have to make the long walk back
The Viator meeting instructions were excellent, and the guides were very easy to find at the port. Communication before the tour was clear and made for a stress-free start. We visited Trogir first, followed by Split. Trogir is a pleasant town to explore, with narrow stone streets and a scenic waterfront. There had been wildfires on a nearby island the night before, but that did not impact our visit. The itinerary included about an hour of free time in Trogir, which felt like more than we needed. I would have preferred a shorter stop there and to have been dropped off a little closer to the cruise port on the return. In Split, the guided walk through Diocletian's Palace (visiting all gates) provided a good overview of the history before free time to explore independently. It was interesting to see how the ancient Roman palace has become part of the modern city, with restaurants, shops, and homes integrated throughout the historic walls. Our tour ended up with only two guests, so it felt like a private tour. Judita and Silvio were generous with their time, enjoyable to talk with, and happy to answer questions throughout the day without making the experience feel rushed.
Tour was good. Guide, Silvio, was very knowledgable, personable. The problem was that a bus on another group’s tour broke down. They our new bus and sent it to rescue the other tour they picked us up in an older bus with virtually no AC. When we reached Split, the bus left us and we were told to walk back to the ship. After the tour, Silvio volunteered his own vehicle to take us back to the ship. We were not happy with the way this operator handled the situation. Silvio saved the day.
Trogir was an interesting town and our guide was very knowledgeable.
Mario was a great guide. He was very flexible in showing us places and different things. The day was extremely hot (35°) which wasn’t helped by travelling in a minivan with broken air conditioning. Mario managed to change vehicles part way through the tour, but unfortunately it was a much smaller vehicle, meaning the last half of the tour was cramped. I feel the company let Mario down, as he did an excellent job.
Excellent hosts, Marko, Sylva,Judith.
Silvio is a great guide. He is very knowledgeable and friendly. He is very interested in his country’s history and his enthusiasm makes his information interesting. We enjoyed our day.
Best Guide Ever! He had so much information to share. I think his name was Egore. Good pace to see as much as time allowed.
Had a great tour lead by Sanja. She was very kind and was able to tell us about the history of the city. She also spoke to us about Croatian culture, and gave us recommendations. She didn’t rush us at all, and went above and beyond with her hospitality. Would definitely recommend to my friends and family!
We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour with Silvio even though it was raining all day. We were shown the highlights of both cities. You could tell that Silvio was proud of his home city. He was full of useful information. Van was clean and comfortable.
Fabulous tour and the guide was amazing. He was so knowledgeable and gave us lots of info on everything in such a way that it was interesting and not at all boring.
We traveled with 2 other couples to Trogir & Split. Our tour guide was very hospitalable in answering everyone's questions, providing a thorough tour overview, and having a driver take us in a Mercedes.
Easy to find our tour guide Silvio as we walked out of the terminal. Delightful ride over to Trogir first and we beat the crowds and tour buses. Learning all the history and all that transpired there through the ages was totally fascinating. Our second stop was at the Diocletian Palace in Split. Having a small group (4) we covered a lot. Will definitely book with Viator again.
My friends and I had a fabulous time on Silvio's Split and Trogir tour. The tour from pick up to drop off was very well organized. I appreciated Silvio's entertaining stories about his country's people, places and history as he led us through the beautiful town of Trogir and then Diocletian's Palace in Split, first built for a Roman emperor but very much lived in today. And he recommended a great local spot for lunch. Highly recommend!
Great tour for getting off the cruise ship. Guides spoke perfect English and new the history of Split and Trogir. At times hard to hear what the guide was saying due to the crowds of people but all in all good tour. Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for the weather (it looked nice out but the wind was super cold on the day we went).
We were picked up at the pier by our cruise ship. The loved that we only had 7 in our group. I saw huge crowds loaded into tour buses for their group tour. Small group tour is the way to go. In spite of the rain, Silvio was able to keep us entertained with the history of these two unique cities. We had plenty of free time to explore on our own.
Nice small group activity. 8 people maximum. Walking tour of both old towns. Tour is about 5 hours. Was dropped off at port.
The tour was very interesting. Our guide was very knowledgeable and very friendly. I will recommend this tour to my friends. Emily T. USA
