My son and I enjoyed our time today with Ivna on the food and history tour she led. The experience was excellent – first rate in every way. The food was great, but it was much nicer because of what we learned about each dish, and all within the context of the city and its history. Ivna is a kind and knowledgeable guide who really knows her stuff. You won't be disappointed.

Itinerary
Start your tour in the heart of Split old town
As you make your way to the first stop, you’ll stroll through the lively local market, where colorful stalls overflow with fresh produce, aromatic herbs, cheeses, and cured meats. The sounds, scents, and friendly chatter offer an authentic glimpse into everyday Dalmatian life. This walk sets the scene for what’s to come, before arriving at your first tasting stop to enjoy a traditional Dalmatian meat dish, prepared according to local recipes and rich in regional flavors.
Accompanied by your local expert, you’ll continue on to the second stop with a relaxed and informative walk through Josipa Jurja Park. Shaded by trees and loved by locals, this green oasis offers a peaceful pause in the heart of the city while your guide shares stories and insights along the way. By the time you arrive, your appetite will be perfectly tuned for the next experience: tasting the famous local black risotto, a Dalmatian specialty rich in seafood flavors and tradition.
You’ll also visit the local fish market, a vibrant and authentic spot where Croatian residents come each morning to buy the freshest catch of the day. Watching the fishermen, vendors, and locals interact offers a true glimpse into daily life on the coast, with the sights and scents of the Adriatic setting the scene for the region’s strong seafood traditions.
You’ll walk through the historic Old Town of Split, wandering its narrow stone streets and lively squares filled with history and local charm. Along the way, you’ll stop to enjoy a classic street food favorite: freshly baked local burek, flaky and golden on the outside, filled with traditional ingredients and loved by locals as a quick, satisfying bite.
You’ll head to the final sweet stop of the tour, where your local expert will guide you through a selection of traditional pastries. With helpful tips and local insight, you’ll choose from handmade desserts made with regional ingredients, enjoying a delicious finale that perfectly rounds off the experience.

Very good guide and food, thank you very much🙏
Small group with a lot of interaction with our guide. A lot of food. Definitely come hungry. Learned a lot about origins of food eaten as well as history of Split.
Food tour was more than we ever expected. This food tour encompassed the history of Split and the influences that the Venetians and Ottomans had on creating food the food of today. One place was better than the next. Out highlight was the very last spot. Don’t miss it!
Wonderful authentic food and great guide! We especially enjoyed the chevalia and wine. Lovely historical perspective of the food traditions.
We had a wonderful evening with Ivna. All the stops had delicious offerings, with the final location Gudin Pigeria, as the best food. Ivna asked if we wanted to hear the history of the area, we all agreed and she gave us an exceptional background of Diocletian’s Palace, the Dalmatian Coast area and the country. We were in a small group of 8, which was the perfect size to be able to ask questions and hear responses. Highly recommend the tour and Ivna.
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Maja was excellent giving us an introduction to Croatian food and history.
Best tour ever. Our guide was amazing. She provided local information and the food was beyond expectations.
Meeting point was easy to find and right on time. Would have liked better communication. Our guide, Evna, was excellent in explaining the history and culture of Split. The dining spots were all local and the food was generous portions. very enjoyable and fun!
Toni gave us a great sampling of local food, as well as history of the area. Our group of 8 was the right size, with all age ranges and it couldn’t have been more entertaining!
We had a great time on the food tour in Split. Communication was excellent from start to finish, and our guide, Maja, was friendly and knowledgeable. Maja shared lots of interesting information about the history and culture of Split and Croatia, as well as the stories behind the food we tasted. The food itself was very good and plentiful—there was more than enough to eat! A lovely way to experience Split, learn more about Croatian culture, and enjoy some delicious local food.
We were lucky that we were the only ones booked for the evening food tour. That gave us a wonderful opportunity for a private tour with Debora who was delightfully knowledgeable about Split. She pointed out different buildings as we walked through the old city and told us many interesting things about the history of Split as well as the culture and traditions of Croatia as they related to food. The five stops we made to taste and eat featured authentic Croatian food. As we shared our meal with her, we engaged in easy conversation. We thoroughly enjoyed our time on this tour.
Really fun & interesting tour. It was good to learn about and try the traditional dishes & we really enjoyed the company of the group. You have plenty of food!
Deborah was so accommodating, friendly and full of information. We had a vegan and someone who is mobile with some limitations and she was very thoughtful. And our budding 13 year old cook totally enjoyed. The only small issue was pick up location. We did figure it out as Deborah reached out.
Great way to learn about the history of Split (and Croatia) through the food! Our guide, Ivna, was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. She guided us around Split with the right balance of history and tasty food. You will not leave hungry! Standout was the cevapi, this street food will be top of my list on my next visit. Split in July is warm, so I would recommend a hat and a bottle of water.
Deborah was very knowledgeable and friendly. Excellent tour. Would happily do it again! It was a great change from all the guided tours of landmarks, and a great way to experience the local culture.
Maja was an unbelievably fantastic guide with knowledge in abundance. She told us that it was a new tour, which could be why the cost compared to the amount of food was such incredibly amazing value. I attended with a friend & can wholeheartedly recommend this activity for not only the endless tasting experience, but also the fabulous hosting along with the food/town history. In fact, it was so good that if I’m in Split in the future, I’d do this again. Thank you so much Maja for putting up with the cheeky chap in the group! Puno vam hvala, Thank you so much, Muchas gracias.
Friendly, engaged, delightful guide. Knowledgeable and connected to the community.
A lovely evening visiting 2 restaurants and 2 bakeries. Lovely to try traditional local food and visit places we had not seen. Plenty of food and a great group of 8. Local wines a treat.
This was a wonderful food tour covering a lot of the unique foods from the area. We visited several restaurants and stores sampling foods and wines from Croatia. What a wonderful way to experience local culture and cuisine. Top notch! Thanks Debora
Very personable guide. Food was wonderful. Needed coffee with the cookie at the end. The pita with the sausage was the favorite by consenses
The tour exceeded our expectations. Ivna was a fantastic guide! At our request she added more historical context. The food on the tour was excellent-starting with dessert pastries and stuffed burek. We sat and ate the pastries in a beautiful park behind Diocletian's palace where Ivna explained in a very understandable way the centuries long history of this area. And that was just the beginning! The green market was overflowing with fruits and vegetables. Lunch was at Fife-cuddlefish risotto, roasted veggies with sausages, chard with potatoes, pasticada with gnocchi. All delicious! We took home more food to enjoy later. Our final stop was at Aura, a family distillery. Before entering the shop Ivna explained the process of making the liqueurs. The base is rakija. We were offered many tastings. The sage liqueur was good for colds. The lemoncello, orancello and charcoal filtered gin were also very good. The three+ hours spent with Ivna was the highlight of our vacation-highly recommended.
Ivana was great. She recommended good places to try besides the places she took us during the tour. She shared a lot about the local life, which we wanted to learn more.
The food tour was a combination of Dalmatian food, liquor and local history. Maya was very knowledgeable.
Wonderful, informative tour with delicious food! Debora, our tour guide, was wonderful! I highly recommend the tour and Debora.
Wonderful experience with Debra… Extremely flexible as our arrival was delayed… Extremely friendly and knowledgeable, would highly recommend!
Awesome experience. Love the food of Croatia and journey through the beautiful streets of Split. Well done. Fabulous tour guide.
Split is very beautiful city and this tour is perfect for to know some traditional croatian food. Debra was our guide, She is knowledgeable, interesting, funny and enthusiastic. I and my Husband were very happy to attend on this tour.
