Ok where to start. The driver we had was terrible, very dangerous exceeding all speed limits including traveling over 90mph (160kmp) on motorways. Even on any other roads he drove too fast going round corners way to fast. It was good to get back to Split as we were afraid we would actually crash. Do not book this trip please. The locations were great but driver never spoke on any of the journeys !!!

Itinerary
After meeting you at the pre-arranged meeting point, we’ll begin our journey to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Come to Mostar and listen as the guide introduces you to the history of this city. Visit the old bazaar and museum, and admire the picturesque shops and workshops. We’ll enjoy a walk along the famous Old Bridge from the 16th century, which is the most notable landmark of Mostar and the first monument in Bosnia and Herzegovina listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. After the guided tour, guests are invited to taste a glass of our exceptional wine. You’ll have some free time, which you can use for shopping or to taste some authentic Bosnian specialities like cevapi, pita, or burek.
The Old Bridge was recently rebuilt and many of the edifices in the Old Town have been restored or rebuilt with the contribution of an international scientific committee established by UNESCO.
Medjugorje gained worldwide recognition in 1981 when six young people claimed to have had apparitions of the Virgin Mary. The apparitions have continued to this day, and the town has become a pilgrimage site for Catholics who seek spiritual renewal and healing. The town is known for its rolling hills and scenic countryside, which provide a beautiful backdrop. The main attraction of Medjugorje is Apparition Hill, where the Virgin Mary first appeared to the young people in 1981. The town is also home to the Church of St. James, a beautiful and sacred place where pilgrims can attend mass and participate in other spiritual activities.

Great trip to medjugorje and Mostar. The guides were great, especially Audra (sp?) in Mostar. Lots of beautiful stuff to see and interesting history. I felt like the Mostar tour was the highlight, but going to Apparition Hill was also great. Highly recommend
We had a wonderful experience on our Bosnia tour with Viator. Our driver, Tony, was fantastic, very friendly, accommodating, and helpful throughout the entire trip. He made everything easy and comfortable for us, including taking us up to the pilgrimage site in Medjugorje. Tony was also excellent at handling the border crossings, making the whole process very smooth and stress-free. We also had a short one-hour guided tour in Bosnia with Azra, who was very friendly, knowledgeable, and informative. She gave us a great introduction to the area and its history and made our short time with her very enjoyable. Overall, it was a great experience from start to finish. Tony and Azra both contributed to making our Bosnia visit memorable. We would definitely recommend this tour!
This experience will be a highlight of my trip to spilt and my life. A great way to see different counties as well as a religious and learning experience. Tony did an outstanding job and he was fun to share the day with. I highly recommend this trip.
Really enjoyed this trip. Mostar is really interesting. We had time for lunch there. We climbed the hill in Medjugorie. Not for the faint hearted! Lovely experience in this famous shrine. It was a honour to have time here. Driver was friendly and accommodating. Recommend !
Ivan was a delightful guide. It’s a long drive and he made it fun. He had some good suggestions for dining too.
It is a very nice tour. It’s amazing the driver Tone make it so easy. He’s such a nice person. And the tour guide she is such a wonderful lady with a lot of experience and knowledge.
Our guide Ivan (the terrible) made day long tour fun and enjoyable throughout, also Mostar guide Honey (Henna) is very knowledgeable and able to clearly explain importance of landmarks.

The driver was terrific! We drove to Bosnia and saw Mostar. Then we drove to see the Virgin Mary site. It was phenomenal!! Highly highly recommend!! If you’re visiting Split it’s a wonderful opportunity to go see Bosniaherzogovina too!
There were issues with scheduling and my pick up location but in the end worked everything out. Antonio )Tony) was a fantastic driver and kept me entertained.
Great trip, really enjoyed it. 100% recommended. We needed to change to following day and the company providing the tour were so accommodating, nothing was too much trouble.
The following is a summary of our problems with our shuttle/tour on 17 September 2025; (Driver: “Emiel”?): 1. Minor delay/Confusion at start - driver a little late and then thought it was for four instead of eight people 2. Reckless decision to drive van in reverse on highway because of missing turn-off 3. Major delays at border(s); not driver’s fault(?) Ultimately lost (1) hour upon arriving at Mostar 4. 25 min. Delay departing Mostar (After leaving starting point, Driver’s/GPS directed us back to same location! The driver had never been to Mostar or Medjugorje and did not provide any information once we we dropped off on a side street in Medjugorje. Ultimately lost another hour of our time in Medjugorje; could not see main attraction one of the important reasons we traveled here! We shared this experience both in person and in writing and the company has never responded to our feedback.
Our guide cut our tour short. We did not have a wine tasting or museum tour as was promised and that we paid for. She left us in the town and did not escort us back to our transportation.
We had a great time on our tour to Mostar. Our driver, Ivan, and tour guide, Adriana, were both wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable, and made the day enjoyable. The downside was that the tour didn’t include the wine tasting or museum visit that was listed in the description. While we still had a nice experience, it was a bit misleading and disappointing not to receive everything that was advertised.
Comfortable drive. Would be valuable to have a driver that would explain possible a few key places we went through. Also the girl that delivered the guided tour of Mostar provided her version of history, namely how great Tito was and everyone mourned his passing and the break up of Yugoslavia. This may be her interpretation but is not an accurate representation. I am a Croatian and what she said about all people being happy with Yugoslavia, freedom of religious practice, good economy etc was totally incorrect.
A great day out to Mostar where you are greeted by a guide and gives you a run down of Mostar and its history, finished of with a wine tasting. Our tour guide Ana was excellent at explaining and very accommodating explaining everything and where to shop and not to shop. Then onwards to Međugorje a religious site where the apparition of Mary appeared in 1981.
During my time in Croatia, I took daily tours to different cities and islands — but the Mostar & Herzegovina small group tour with South Tours was by far the best. The group was small (just 8 of us), which made everything feel more personal and relaxed. The guide was kind, knowledgeable, and made the entire day smooth, meaningful, and full of insight. From the scenic drive to the stops along the way and our time in Mostar — every moment was thoughtful and memorable. After a week full of tours, this is the one that truly stood out. If you’re considering it — go for it. You won’t regret it.
Mostar almost broke my heart. Quaint little town that experienced great suffering during the 90’s civil war…too fresh to forget…It was rebuilt beautifully like a Marrakesh bazar. Megjugorje was spiritually uplifting. The climb up apparition hill is difficult—a metaphore for life…I say, “Go test your faith & climb.” You will not forget your adventure.
Mostar was an absolute highlight. Although the tour there was on the shorter side, it was very informative and enjoyable. There was a good deal of free time in Mostar to enjoy all of the shops and restaurants that were there, as well as the scenery. The second portion of this tour is geared for those who very much want to experience Medjugorje. There is no tour there.(this is clearly indicated in the description of the tour). You are able to either stay in the town for the hour and a half that you are there and visit the church and the limited shops and restaurants, or you can go up to the religious hill and experience the hike. The hike itself is quite intense and up very rocky terrain. It’s about 20 minutes to get all the way up to the top, but the terrain is made up of extremely jagged, uneven rocks. If you are with someone who is an inexperienced hiker, or in footwear that is not appropriate, going up would be difficult, but coming down would be treacherous. If you do not do the hike, you are welcome to sit on the benches by the statue of Mary or go back down into the town to the church to wait for the group. Our driver was extremely accommodating and kind.
Traveled with family 9 of us in total. They did not tell us till evening before that we would be separated. Other van got lost and kids were in that van and said the driver was going very fast. Van drivers did not explain what we would be doing or telling us about things along the way. The tour guide in Mostar was probably the most boring tour guide I have ever encountered to the point that we had to leave the group and missed the wine tasting , others also left his tour. Would not recommend this tour with Viator . Very disappointed. Especially since I took my whole family and we could not be together.
Ena was wonderful, engaging and very knowledgeable, we enjoyed our time with her. The wine was very good also
Most star is a must see, but is a two hour plus car ride. The agenda to see more star and then on to see the church and maybe the waterfall is not ideal. They should have allowed more time in Mostar and less time at the church. Ena was a great tour guide.
One important thing to know: the tour crosses the border into Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is outside the EU and Schengen zone. Check if you can go across with an ID or make sure you bring your passport. Unfortunately, some people on our bus were turned away at the border because they only had ID cards. That said, the driver handled the situation well, and make sure that the rest of us can carry on. The tour itself was lovely. In Mostar, we were joined by a local guide for the first hour. He was fantastic—informative, personable, and he shared heartfelt stories about growing up in Mostar, which added a deeply personal touch to the experience. I personally would have preferred more time in Mostar than in Medjugorje, but for those with a religious interest, Medjugorje will be a meaningful stop. The wine tasting in a shop in Mostar was a nice bonus. Overall, this tour is well-organized and offers a memorable glimpse into the region’s culture and history.
Confortable, complete The driver and the guide were great The weather today does not allow to do the hill ...
We ended up being the only travelers on this date. Instead of cancelling, the tour guide (Ivan) picked us up in Split and drove us to both Mostar and Međugorje for this day trip. Everything was superb (except for the rain), but cannot say enough for Ivan and the tour company. Five-star rating!! Gary & Bonnie Germany
Antonio was an excellent driver and conversationalist. He was very informative during our drive and really just a pleasure to be with all day.
Mostar was a wonderful surprise as was Trogir.Driver was a very good host and went to great lengths to show us the best views of the beautiful countries of Croatia and Bosnia. An excellent tour. I can highly recommend.
The tour is a great taste of Bosnia, our driver Antonio is great to chat with, and very friendly. I had a wonderful day trip, highly recommended.
The whole trip was wonderful. Our driver and our guide were exceptional. Interesting trip and happy to recommend it.
Bosnia was amazing! However due to the driver being 30 minutes late and then having to wait an hour on the pavement in the heat for a host as the driver/host communication was horrific. This meant we only had 1.5 hours at each location. The driver spoke very poor English and couldn’t answer any questions about why we were waiting. Bosnia and Herzegovina is an amazing country and once we finally found our host, was a very interesting tour. In hindsight I would definitely do this tour just maybe with a different operator. Luckily the 5 people we were on the tour with were friendly and kept us entertained!
Great day out with Antonio. We were handed over to a knowledgeable local guide at Mostar who was passionate about its history. Great lunch recommendations and photo opportunities. The apparition site is very rocky with no real path after the statues at the bottom. A pleasant stop but most people were there for the religious experience. Plenty of cafés available to just relax and enjoy the day.
Thoroughly enjoyable day out. Antonio was very good host & made us all feel very at ease. We had plenty of time in both locations, Mostar tour guide was really good at sharing all we needed to know about Mostar and Bosnia. Antonio did share with my wife and I some of the stupid comments people made about the trip & the one star reviews. So, just to see if he reads this review, disappointed Antonio didn't make it less hot for us walking around Mostar im sure he could have fixed that!
we enjoyed the Mostar village. Overall the trip was great! The driver was helpful and funny! It would have been better if we could visit the church in Medjugorje !
Regrettably we didn’t have a memorable tour. Mostar old village was charming but swamped by hordes of visitors despite the low season. We were particularly disappointed with the rush to get through Medjugorge. There were only 7 of us but Antonio the driver chatted throughout the entire long drive with the couple of ladies seated in front. Practically nothing was shared about either of 2 towns visited. Before arriving at Medjugorge he was asking us to decide between visiting apparition hill and the church. In the end he dropped us off at the church with a stern limit of 30 mins. To be followed by a 90 mins stop at the apparition hill. The 30 mins at the church was way too short and we literally had to rush though prayers and took a quick tour of the church. Please remind your agents that Medjugorge is a holy site and prayers at the church is as important as climbing apparition hill. Amongst the 7 of us, 2 of the ladies were about 70+ and me and my wife are in our late 70s. None of us attempted the hill and sat out most of the 90 mins.
Our driver Igor was wonderful. The wine tasting was a bit of a disappointment as only one wine was offered to taste. Emir was a knowledgeable guide with a great sense of humor.
Great trip, very enjoyable. Loved all aspects of the tour. The driver was very helpful and answered all questions.
Nice, quick trip to go see Bosnia & Herzegovina from split. I really liked visiting Mostar and the brief informative tour. There was time to venture out and eat/shop. Međugorje was very nice as well. Beautiful to see in person and go up the hill. Antonio was awesome and did a great job!
It’s a nice glimpse of Bosnia and Herzegovina! Our guide at Mostar was excellent! The tour of the town was very interesting! It would have been great to know that running shoes were required for the tour. Also, we thought that the wine tasting was at a wineyard. And finally, it would have been interesting to have information during the drive from split to Bosnia-Herzegovina. Our driver was also excellent!
This tour was great! Both the driver from Split to Mostar and the tour guide around Mostar! The ride from Split to Mostar was really smooth and comfortable for the 2-2.5 hours you’re in the car! Mostar is such a cute town to walk around in whether you enjoy shopping, history, eating or taking photos there is opportunity for all that!
Fine drive to and from Mostar and fine guide there. Wine tasting was one little SIP of a home brew and Medajourge a total flop of No interest. Not money worth!
Ivan was a brilliant driver making sure we all had umbrellas when there was a heavy rain storm, Amer a fabulous tour guide in Mostar showing us his life, being the first child born in Mostar during the war! Great day out would highly recommend! Could spend longer in Mostar rather than adding Madjugorjie into the mix!
We were so close to Bosnia, being in Split, we decided it was worth the trip to go see Mostar. While it’s about a three hour drive, it’s very interesting to see the countryside on the way. Our driver, John, was very fun and friendly. Our guide in Mostar provided great information on the history and culture of the area, especially about the restoration efforts after the war. The wine tasting was brief, but the wines very good! We couldn’t go to “the hill” in Medjugorje because it had rained and it was muddy and slick.
Our guide, Amer, was wonderful. He was so enthusiastic and was able to bring the history of Mostar into real life.
Mostar was pretty and Medjugorje peaceful. Our driver Antonio was fantastic! Our guide Laila in Mostar explained the history of Mostar and walked us over the Bridge, to the Museum and highlighted great spots to take photos.
Mostar is a very beautiful, quaint town. Very happy to learn more about it from Leila who was our local guide in Mostar. She is so knowledgeable of the history, brought us in the right spots and have her own story to tell. I would definitely recommend Mostar as a place to go to when in Croatia. I would not miss Medjugorje if I am already around the area. I heard about it as an elementary student attending a Catholic school. Some in our group went up the Apparition Hill, I satisfied myself with visiting the church and buying Medjugorje souvenirs for family members. What made our tour more fun was our van driver/guide, Antonio. He looks intimidating in the beginning but he is accommodating, friendly, knowledgeable and very good communicator. He has lived a very exciting life, too. A Croatian James Bond. Be ready with cash for meals and other purchases. Euro is accepted in all places we have been to. The tour was a very enjoyable day outside Split and definitely worth the experience.
Hike up to the apparition hill in Medjugorje was superb! Mostar history was also great! highly recommended tour
I hope the time for Apparition Hill is more. We are only given one hour which is not enough to reach the top of the Apparition Hill. We also missed the mass and only made a visit to the church.
Our coach driver Antonio was the best!!!He spoke English, was very jovial and waited while the 8 of us walked to the top of Apparition mountain in Medugorje making sure we had time for a drink before setting of to visit the church!!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It was very interesting and informative. He told us about the history, people and the food. I would highly recommend this tour.
