Ivan was exceptional! We couldn’t have had a nicer day. He was amazing. He had so much knowledge and had such a great way of explaining it all. We were so happy. Ivan is highly recommended!!!!
For a truly outstanding experience you must request Stela as your guide. Not only was she knowledgeable about Split and the entire Diocletian Palace, she was engaging, witty, and funny. This was the most entertaining excursion that we’ve had since we began our trip three weeks ago. Highly recommended tour.
No person turned up. Waste of money and time. Told to meet guide outside port. Were there early and waited. No guide blue umbrella turned up. Had checked trip advisor prior to trip check meeting point. See screen shot of conversation.
On time and even picked us up from the cruise terminal. Great introductory tour of split before walking the city on your own time. We had a great time. I would recommend this to all cruise guests
Our tour guide Ante was the BEST! He’s a natural at leading tours, with a loud clear voice and attention to details.. His extensive knowledge of Split and the palace was told in a way that was fascinating as well as factual. We could not recommend this tour more! If you love history, just book it and ask for Ante!
Very nice presentation of the history and events. Tour guy has excellent people and communication skills
Slavko is a wonderful guide. Very knowledgeable and a great sense of humour. He is a local, born and bred, so he knows the palace and old town like the back of his hand.
great service being collected from the port, to the tour starting place. like all europe now,the weather was hot. remember to take plenty of water on the tour.
This was very interesting! Luka was a great guide. As a schoolteacher with a degree in history he knew so much about every spot we went to. Very good experience!
We had an awesome experience with Slavko. He was very knowledgeable and funny!
Great time! A simple tour but so much to see and history to be told. The Diocletian Palace is an amazing hub of Croatia/Split's old-world history. Every turn of the corner is another facet of history and it's remarkable to see in person and contemplate the centuries of history you're witnessing firsthand. Our guide was super informative and personable, making the tour even better. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a cultural history lesson that doesn't drag on too long.
It was very easy to book with clear instructions on where to meet the tour guide. Our guide Mia is a native of Split & was both knowledgeable, easy to understand & even gave us some tips on eateries etc. We really appreciated the small group tour as it was very busy in Split (September). Once again Viator has been a great experience.
Ante was a fantastic tour guide. Born and lived all his life he gives a great insight of the history of Split and it's part in Croatian history. We actually got a lot more information that expected, due to his extensive knowledge. Thank you Ante!
This tour was the absolute highlight of our time in Split! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and engaging—bringing the rich history of Diocletian’s Palace to life with stories, legends, and fun facts we never would have discovered on our own. Walking through the ancient stone streets, we felt like we were stepping back in time. The pace was perfect, and the group size allowed for easy interaction and questions. We appreciated the thoughtful mix of historical insight and cultural context, from Roman architecture to Game of Thrones trivia. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Split—whether you're a history buff or just curious. Truly unforgettable!
The tour guide was lovely and quite knowledgeable, but whoever set it up overbooked, we had a very large crowd. The guides had to split into two still large groups, so it was not the experience that I was anticipating.
We were very impressed with our tour guide, Ivan! He was very knowledgeable about the history of Split. We learned so much from him, and he had a great sense of humor.
Our guide was a wealth of information including providing a good overview of Split’s succession of rulers and an explanation of its status as a living museum. Learning about Diocletian was a highlight. His practical recommendations for other activities in Split were helpful for the rest of our stay.
Slavik was great! My wife and I had his total experience as he led us through the history and details of Diocletians Palace. We really enjoyed this!
Due to a bank holiday, the tour changed from 13.00 to 11.30 & the company messaged with notice & due to arriving that morning made allowance if we couldn’t make it to give a refund. Jakov was knowledgable, passionate & interesting. Really enjoyed the history of split & would highly recommend to do as the first thing before anything else. Really enjoyed this walking tour, well worth the money.
An excellent way to learn some of Split's history, while also walking the beautiful old town. Highly recommend
Disappointed!! Guide did nothing to make tour interesting And group was very large Too much waiting fro everyone to gather!
Jakob was an excellent guide he was very knowledgeable and passionate about his home town of Split. He also communicated very clearly and effectively
A great way to visit Diocletian Palace. The tour guide points out all the hidden attractions. Our tour guide was funny and knowledgeable.
Slacks our guide made the tour a very interesting and fun one. Truly a fab guide who knows his stuff and loves his job. Would definately recommend this trip when visiting Split. We took the 6pm tour. Excellent value for money too.
Jakob our guide was very knowledgeable and he presented Split as a beautiful city and full of mix culture. He answered all our questions and he was very friendly.
Ivan was very informative and friendly. Gave us a true feel for the history and present culture. Would recommend for couples and families
Our guide, Antonia, was fun and her knowledge of the history is impressive. She gave us great recommendations for restaurants at the end of the trip as well- which we followed through on and were not disappointed.
The tour was great. Our guide Tino was clearly enthusiastic about the history of the Diocretian Palace, which elevated the experience. He also took his time for every question I had and had a good knowledge about everything. My personal highlight of the vacation!
We took the 6:00 pm evening tour with Slavko. It was very interesting, we recommend it to everyone who wants to know more about Diocletian's Palace and its history. The guide was very clear in his explanations: he tells how the palace is divided, the history of the Roman era, he leads us to discover hidden spots and gave us great tips on what to do nearby. Highly recommended!
Excellent guide and explanation of the incredible history of Split. Guide is very knowledgable and extremely friendly. Highly recomend
I would highly recommend the walking tour. A very knowledgeable guide who shared lots of interesting information about both the palace and the history of Split and Croatia more broadly. A great way to start our stay in Split.
The guide gave a lot of historical information, which was the highlight of the tour. Friendly at all times. The most interesting points were covered during the tour exactly as previously described.
Mario was an amazing tour guide! He was funny and provided interesting history about the city. He was able to weave together stories and give a sense of the culture. Highly recommend!
The history behind the palace was very interesting and the building itself was also very pretty. Our guide (Karla), was extremely engaging, knowledgeable, and kind
Slavko is awesome and highly knowledgeable. I recommend anyone coming to Split to do this tour first thing!
We had a great time on the walking tour in Split. Host was knowledgeable and funny! We were a family of 9 traveling together and he was very accommodating of us all. He even helped out when my elderly father slipped on the tour. We highly recommend this tour to anyone!
Visiting the Diocletian's Palace and the old town with our guide Marija was definitely an enriching experience, that made us see the buildings as living organisms transforming with their inhabitants. Definitely recommended!!!
It was a great tour! The guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining and clearly passionate about his subject. He found quieter streets and was mindful of his audience, giving us just the right amount of time to enjoy each stop. Well worth doing, I would highly recommend!
We learned so much during this tour. Slavko did an awesome job explaining and answering all the questions we had. Highly recommend it.
Interesting Tour with a humorous guide! Even if the city was crowded, the tour was not at all stressful. Would recommend! Thx Ivan!
Great tour! Very informative. We learned a lot about Croatia and Split and had some great photos. Antonia was an amazing guide!
I really loved finding out about the history of Diocletian and his palace but the guide gave a wider history of the region which gave greater context. The guide was easy to meet up with, very knowledgeable, covered a lot and was happy to answer questions. My tour time was 10.30 am and already very hot but our guide made sure to stop in shady places and pointed out the fountains where you could refill your water bottle so he was very aware of the needs of his group. There was an earlier tour at 9sm which might be better if the heat bothers you. The price of the tour was 15 euros for 90 minutes which was very good value for money. I thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a lot.
This was a fantastic tour. Slavko, our guide, was fun and full of knowledge about the Palace. He also made sure we visited smaller, more out of the way sections that you wouldn't be able to find on your own which added so much context and personality to the palace. Highly recommend.
We recently joined a tour guided by Jacov, and it was a fantastic experience. He was incredibly informative, sharing rich historical context and fascinating anecdotes at every stop. His engaging and fun personality, combined with a great sense of humour, kept everyone entertained. I highly recommend this tour.
Our male guide was friendly and approachable who explained the history of Split in an easy way to understand. We learned a lot about the architecture and Diocletian's life and how different events in history before and after the ancient Roman empire all link into modern day Croatia. Thank you for a very informative and interesting tour, I highly recommend it.
Highly informative and great knowledge, considerate guide taking us to shade as much as possible, good pace, punctual, steady pace of the walk and guiding. Really enjoy his tour! Thanks heaps
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Tino. He was very knowledgeable and was great at interacting with us. My children are 10 and 13 and both thought the tour was great!
The tour was very nice, the explanations about the history of the city were interesting and entertaining. We were very pleased with the tour we attended as a family. Unfortunately, an important section to visit in the palace was closed only in the evening due to the event. We would also like to thank our guide very much
Slavko is a great tour guide. He is both funny and knowledgeable. He even made some recommendations about where to eat in our time in Split. I really enjoyed the tour. The duration is also perfect.
