This tour was so much more than just great food. We learned about the history of Split, explored some fascinating sites, and got a much better understanding of the region and its culture—all while eating some fantastic local food. Our guide was amazing. What really made the tour special was how she connected the food to her own experiences growing up and eating with her family. She shared stories about the dishes, local traditions, the region, and how food fits into everyday life in Croatia. It made everything feel personal rather than like a standard tourist food tour. The combination of history, culture, great conversation, and really good food made this one of the highlights of our time in Split. I would absolutely recommend it.

Itinerary
I love sharing the passion I have for Dalmatian (Coastal Croatian)traditional cuisine. After we got all ingredients on Green market, we'll head to my kitchen and terrace in heart of Split. Try to introduce yours specific taste based on simple blend ingredients, without additives and other nasty poisons,.Almost like a game we will harmonise flavours, aromas and textures in Buzara, Sea food Pates...Prosciutto cooked in red wine, Dried figs with skate cream...I'll show you have to balance, sometimes improvise, going overboard in traditional Dalmatian cuisine. You will also try home made Rakija (wellcome drink), wine , Home made liquors (walnuts, carob..) So we will cook, eat, drink and have a good time!

really informative and Tatjana is just so enthusiastic about food! Such a fun, authentic, different experience.
This experience was wonderful and well worthwhile. Tatjana was a fantastic host keeping my entire family entertained and engaged throughout the experience.
Amazing experience. Tatjana is the best.
Katarina was wonderful!! We started at the Green Market where she showed us around & then went to her apartment to cook a large Croatian meal. It was a blast! She was so nice & we learned a lot about Croatian food & culture. I highly recommend this experience!!
Fantastic day that started with a walk around the city with stories that weaved culture and food together. After the stroll we went to the apartment to cook amazing dishes with the local ingredients. Highly recommend their tour for foodies or people who want to experience local cuisin with a warm and talented host.
Wonderful trip to the green & fish markets, cooked a delicious lunch at Tatjiana’s apartment. Lovely conversation, very interesting stories and tastes we left inspired to cook more Dalmatian cuisine when ba k home and had a delightful day with our GEM of a hostess!!!
Had a great time, touring the green market and fish market and learning about how it all works. Got to sample some snacks along the way. As other reviews have pointed out this is less of a structured cooking class and more like going to a friends home and everyone pitching in to prepare the meal.. Was very interesting eating the shrimp with the shell still on little too crunchy for me, but can understand how some people would like that. Definitely time well spent.
This was such a lovely and authentic experience to have in Split. Tatjana walked us around the green market and fish market and gave us a little history lesson while walking around the town which may have been my favorite part. Her apartment had a wonderful balcony and she was so welcoming and kind 😊 Highly recommend this experience if you’re looking to relax and learn a little more about the area!
The host was very friendly and engaging
Fantastic food experience. Tatjana was so friendly and clearly loves what she does. We ended up having almost a private tour of some of the palace included on our way through the green market and to the fish matket. We didnt know much about Croatian food and left feeling full of food and knowledge.
Tatjana is delightful and showed us how to cook some wonderful Croatian food.
This was such a personal and authentic experience with Tatjana. You do not need to be a “foodie” to completely enjoy this. Her personality and way of engaging each of us was so delightful. You will appreciate the rest of your trip and the food you see on menues after doing this. I only wish I could bring her home with me!! My husband and I had our three children, two boys and a girl, 23, 24 and 25 years old and they LOVED it!
This was a very fun experience and Tatijana was a great host! We loved looking around the green market, Diocletians Palace and the fish market! It was fun and informative. Tatijana has so much information to share about food, her cooking and the town of Split! I highly recommend this tour!
More than just cooking! History of the palace etc. We met at the Green Market and then went to the fish market. The vendors knew our chef so we were able to coverse snd were given samples The cooking was great and we learned some cooking tricks. We bought her cookbook, cant wait to make some of the dishes!!
Tatiana was amazing and the food experience was beautiful. We visited the Green Market and the Fish Market to really experience the amazing fresh goods that are available, many which we would be using in our cooking glass. The meal she put together for us was amazing, well thought out and incredibly tasty. We only had a small group which was perfect and she hosted the meal in her beautiful home. I’ve traveled around the world and done cooking classes in many cities, and this is definitely one that I will remember. Thank you Tatiana for a wonderful experience.
Very informative! We should have done this our first day i Split. Tatiana took us on a interesting tour, showing is us the inns and outs of the green market and til fish market. Afterwards we walked to her apartment near by. In the kitchen and in the patio, we got to know how to prepare delicious Dalmatian dishes and wow it tasted good. Tatiana was a good host and friendly instructor. We can realy recommend this cooking class!
Amazing tour, we got to see the food market and get some nice tips. And later was the cool part with cooking and tasting wine and we had really nice small group so it felt like friends meeting in the kitchen. We also got really nice receipts
This was the best experience and such a wonderful day with Tatjana! We learnt alot about local food and cooking techniques as well as history of Split. We were welcomed into Tatjana’s home like family and had an amazing time eating, drinking and cooking. Highly recommend this experience.
This was a wonderful experience! We began by walking through the green and fish markets in the Diocletian palace, while she shared her knowledge of Dalmatian food and its very long history. We then returned to her flat where we cooked, chatted and ate. I highly reccomend!!
This cooking class was phenomenal—one of the most memorable parts of my trip to Split! It was a very intimate and personal experience, which made it feel extra special. Although it rained when we met and we couldn’t explore the Green Market as much as planned, we still got to enjoy fresh figs and a traditional spinach pastry, similar to burek. We even made a quick stop where the chef treated us to a warm slice of fish pie—delicious! We were joined by two lovely couples from the US, and then headed to the chef’s apartment. The welcome aperitif and dried figs set the tone, and the balcony view of the sea was absolutely stunning. We all helped prepare parts of the meal, and everything we made was so flavorful and fresh. The chef generously opened a bottle of local wine and even let us taste the dessert wine used in the fig dessert. I left full, happy, and inspired and can’t wait to recreate the magic at home.
We had a lovely experience with Tatjana who shared her knowledge of culture and cooking. She was warm and welcomed us into her home for a delicious meal which she prepared.
Tanya is a great hostess. It was much more than a cooking class. She took us around the old town pointed out many sights, took us to the green and fish markets and told us who the good local vendors are— and we tasted local delights along the way. And then we cooked, —appetizers, so unusual and so tasty, a main course and desert. Wine and local spirits included! A wonderful day spent in Split,
So fun! Tatiana was so knowledgeable about the history of Croatia as well as the food. Can’t imagine a better way to spend a morning immersed in the local culture. Highly recommend!
Our experience with Tatjana was just perfect! She gave us an insider’s tour of the Green Market and the Seafood Market and introduced us to her favorite vendors. She walked us through the old town and treated us to Croatian specialties at two local food sellers. Cooking with her on her balcony was a special treat. It was more like a visit with an old friend than a tour. The food was outstanding and she made us feel so welcome! We learned how to make Croatian dishes like shrimp with pasta, cheese soufflé with herbs, polenta with olives, and prosciutto with onions. This is a very special experience in Split. If you like food and cooking, don’t miss it!
We had a lovely day with Tatjana, touring through the Green Market and Fish Market, her sharing some of the history of the area and in particular its links to food. We tasted honeys and rakija at market stalls and at some Croatian street food before heading back to her place to cook a three course meal with the fresh ingredients she had bought that morning. We then shared the food, wine and stories together and whiled the lunchtime away. The food was typical Croatian cuisine so think garlic, fish and polenta so do be prepared for an authentic experience. Thank you Tatjana for a very memorable day!
When booked, directly Tatjana contacted me to ask some information, seen my daughter is vegetarian, she had to change some dishes, but this was no problem. On the day itself she was very helpful to find us on the greenmarket. First she explained us some history and we could taste a lot of local stuff on the market. After that we went to here place to cook, this was a very nice experience and the food was delicious, we bought also her book to try the food also at home. I would do this cooking class directly again nice experience
Tanya was wonderful! We really enjoyed this experience! We learned a lot about Croatian food, culture, and history. Tanya was very personable and engaged our entire family including our two teenagers. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon!
Highlight of Split! If you are looking for a class in cooking skills, this is not it; but if you want a taste of of Dalmatian and to be a local for a day, Tatiyana will not dissapoint. The class starts in the Green Market where Tatiyana introduces you to the food, to taste them, and teaches to smell them and pick out the best. From the market she walks you to the other side of Split to visit the fish market while providing a tour of the old city and history between. After you have walked through the old section of the city you go to her home to experiance cooking a Dalmation meal. Everything moves at a relaxing Polamo pace.
This was an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING experience. Tatjana was amazing. She was so sweet and kind, a real joy to be around. We started by traveling through the green market, tasted a local delicacy, then went to the fish market and tasted a special dish for a local island. From there we went to Tatjana's home and spent several hours cooking, learning, talking and enjoying ourselves. She is an amazing lady and I highly recommend this activity. I travel a lot and always do a cooking class when I go somewhere new. This was by far the best of them all.
Fantastic dining experience with an incredibly inspiring hostess. We were two couples and learned a lot about history and local food traditions.
Tania was amazing. She met us in the green market, went to fish market and shared many stories of the palace/history of Split. Then we walked to her apartment and enjoyed cooking an authentic Dalmatian dish. Tanja made the entire experience a wonderful delight. We would highly recommend this tour.
This was amazing. Tatiana is a wonderful person and an incredible cook! She took us through the Split green and fish markets giving us detailed information on how the markets work, a chance to meet and talk to merchants and discuss the best produce. She is also a wonderful tour guide although we were not expecting that. She took us through the Diocletian Palace and educated us on its history. She took me and my wife back to her house and we drank very good wine while I learned more than I ever knew about cooking. I chopped, and folded and assisted where we can. The dishes are traditional Croatian food that will send your taste buds on a delightful ride. It gives you a chance to feel like a local and less like a tourist. If we get back to Split we will book her again. It was so much fun.
We had a great morning exploring the markets and the palace and then preparing lunch under expert tuition. All very informal and informative. Great fun and highly recommended. Thank you Tatjana.
Tatjana was AMAZING! One of our VERY best days in Split Croatia! She took us to the Green Market and the Fish Market explaining things along the way about Croatian culture which we appreciated. She was extremely pleasant and made our day VERY enjoyable! My husband eats meat l only eat fish and she was very accommodating buying veggies for me at the Green Market altering the menu for me so he and l could eat what we enjoy. We cooked with her in her kitchen and patio and dined with her on her beautiful outdoor terrace eating, trying and drinking fabulous wines which were plentiful. I'm SO glad l found her on Viator as #1 cooking class before we came and booked right away. By the time we left, we felt like family and were there more than the alloted time. If l could give more than 5 starts l would!!!!👏❤️🍷👩🍳Oh... and the figs soaked in wine then cooled and put on top of ice cream was DELICIOUS!!!!
Tatjania is absolutely charming and we had a lovely group. I enjoyed the walk through the market and trying a couple of snacks. However, it honestly was not one of my favorite cooking classes because it felt like more of a group lunch than an actual cooking class. As participants, we only did a few things like chop veggies and clean shrimp. No one washed their hands. The dishes were not ones I'd make again. For example, we had shrimp with a buzara sauce but the sauce wasn't as good as those I tried in restaurants and we kept the shells on the shrimp, removing only heads and tails. It really wasn't pleasant to eat, crunching through the shells. Dessert was quartered dry figs in a glaze over ice cream, so no real prep and fig pieces were just too clunky and dry to be enjoyable. There was nothing I would make again and I didn't learn any new techniques or cooking/plating tips as I usually do in a local cooking class. Her kitchen is quite small so hard to even gather around and watch her cook.
My daughter and I had a fabulous time with Tatijana and two other guests exploring the Green market and cooking at her home. She was full of interesting history and information about the Dalmatian culture, locations, food, and wine. We cooked traditional and original recipes that were all included in her lovely cookbook. The food was amazing, the wine delicious, but the company was the absolute best! If you’re a foodie like me, I highly recommend this unique experience here in Split with Tatijana.
Our experience was incredible! We had the best time learning about the history of Split, their food and how to make it. Tatjana welcomes you with open arms and truly embraces you. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who visits Split and wants to learn more about their food and culture!
Tatjana was amazing and delightful. The menu innovative loved meeting in the market to taste and explore and the historical tour of Diocletian’s Palace. An unexpected treat. Her apartment is charming with a rooftop terrace. The perfect spot to share cooking life and friendship. This is a don’t miss experience! Only caution would be to let her know if you can’t eat fish or shellfish
Started as a walk through the open air food market, seeing many local vegetables. Next going through the historic castle along the marina, to the fish market. Then to the home of our hostess, Tatjana, to start our several course lunch, wine and wonderful dessert. Lots of good conversation and learning about the foods of this Croatian area. One of the best cooking experience we have had.
Tonya was a great host. We toured the marketplace sampling a few foods and learning local history. The cooking class was fun and the end dinner tasty. My son and I were very satisfied with the hist and class.
We had a wonderful time with Tatjana. It was great fun going through the market, talking about history and the region, and cooking the lunch together. She is very knowledgeable, and a great teacher and host.
I loved everything about this experience. We toured the Green Market (fruits, vegetables among other things), the fish market and learned some history from Tatjana on the walk to her home. We tried a few different liqueurs and wines while preparing our appetizers and meal. Tatjana was so gracious and knowledgeable about Dalmatian cuisine. I’m so glad I booked this experience.
My family (including 2 college-age kids) and I had a wonderful time with Tanja. She is a very welcoming person and made us feel at home. We walked through the market and even though it was quite windy, Tanja still took the time to introduce us to ingredients found in the market. We did some prep work and Tanja walked us through the cooking process. Overall the food was excellent and one of the best meals we had in Croatia. This is a must-do if you have the time.
My family and I had a wonderful time with Tanja learning about Croatian food and culture. Her hospitality was amazing and the food was excellent - very homey.
Tanja was so wonderful inviting us into her beautiful home and hosting through an intimate, multi course meal. She welcomed us with dried figs, rakija, liqueur, plavac wine and prošek desert wine. We prepared the best prosciutto I’ve ever tasted cooked in red wine and baked a cheese tart with chives and basil to start the course. The second meal consisted of a polenta cooked with capers and olives that we paired with a delicious shrimp pate. Finally the main dish of shrimp buzara, followed by a warming dried fig with ice cream desert was heaven on earth. It was hard to choose a favorite dish! Tanja really exposed us to the beauty and art of Dalmatian cuisine and we spent the evening sharing stories and laughs. My husband and I both agreed afterward this is one of the best highlights of our trip to Croatia! The only thing I regret is not taking enough photos, but I’ll be sure to purchase her cookbook when it’s finished. I couldn’t recommend this experience with Tanja enough!
My best friend and I did this on his 50th birthday and it was a far better experience than any dinner or night out could have provided. Our host was amazing, we became fast friends and will definitely see her again when we visit Split. If I could give this 1000 stars I would. Don’t hesitate if you’re in the fence about doing this.
Lovely food and conversations. We really enjoyed our time with Tanya. We met in the green market where she explained traditional foods ( and we tasted from sellers), then we went to the fish market, walking through the city to hear some history and culture. We stopped in several bakeries to understand their offerings and traditional cuisine. The highlight of course was cooking traditional Croatian food with Tanya at her home. She was very organized and guided us through three courses: appetizers (wine cooked prosciutto, cheese tart), main (buzara with fish and langostjne, spaghetti, polenta), and dessert(figs cooked in spices over ice cream). She also served wine and liquors. She had a lovely terrace for enjoying the food and we talked about Croatia and Croatian culture. If you’re debating, book it!!
We thoroughly enjoyed this experience. The food and the company were outstanding; the tour of the green market and the surrounds really helped us to get our bearings on our first full day in Croatia. Thank you Tanja for your warmth and hospitality. We can't wait to try some of the recipes in your book.
100% would recommend! Tatjana was an absolutely lovely host who provided us a mini walking tour of the markets and old town, before we arrived at her beautiful apartment. We cooked three delicious courses and tried a few local wines. We left very full and very happy after a few hours of cooking, eating and chatting! One of the highlights of Split ☺️
