I really liked it, it was really interesting and funny, easy to follow, except for the cemetery part, when it said it was up the hill... I almost didn't make it! that's a climb!!

We will stop outside of the front of the Bullock Hotel, the oldest standing in Deadwood, and hear the story of Seth Bullock and how he tamed this outlaw town.

The tour stops outside of the Adams museum and you'll learn the history of how it came to be and it's founder. It's one of the best museums in town, and it's free, with a suggested donation.
This was once the spot of the notorious Gem Theater, and you'll learn about all the bad things that went down here.
The tour stops by city hall and you'll hear the story of how Jack McCall got off from shooting Wild Bill, and the story of how Two Sticks was hung, and the Lakota Native People that once lived here.
We will stop outside the Adams house and hear about the founder of the Franklin hotel, and see the "most beautiful house this side the Mississippi".

This was a great tour with lots of really interesting information. My only issue was the hill heading up to the cemetery. That hill was Steep!
Our guide gave us a great ghost tour. He told many ghost stories and I could tell enjoyed relating them. The tour was advertised for one hour but it actually lasted two hours. And the tour didn’t finish at the start point. But the tour experience was definitely worth it. So many thanks to our guide!
Excellent communication! I had trouble downloading on our second phone through no fault of Walking Tours. I texted them at (617) 991-3269. They answered promptly and stayed in contact while we resolved the issue. Tour was of Deadwood South Dakota. We learned a fun facts and was able to easily follow along. Narrative was done in the spirit of the times and included music along the way representing old west. The cemetery climb we decided to pass on as it is a very long incline, steep. Thank you Walking Tours for adding to our adventure. Cheryl and Randy
There’s some initial confusion. You have to load the WalknTours app, not Viator. Once I overcame this, the tour was fun informative, and easy to follow. Well produced. Just the right duration. I don’t understand why pay for two tours when we just listened to my phone, but, $10 bucks. So what?
The app needs some work. There is a male voice doing the commentary and a female voice providing actual directions to the next stop. The female voice did not seem to be in sync with the male voice so we ended up disregarding the female voice as it was becoming frustrating. The male commentary was good and easy to follow. Definitely worth it.
Showed up in town early with no real plan. This tour of Deadwood was just the ticket to introduce me to the town and it's history. It was really easy to navigate. Clear instructions and the content was entertaining. Loved it!
The walking tour was great. Just long enough to get a good overview of the key things, while not dragging in too long. The narrator had a great voice and provided the key, interesting details of the various places that you walked by. I liked the pause feature that allows you to actually go in and explore some of the locations if you choose to do so. One warning: the walk/hike up to the cemetery is NOT for the weak/out of shape!!
Awesome Tour. I was able to go at my own pace and learned a Lot about the city. I walked the whole tour and it wasn't bad at all. Wear your walking shoes! Big hill up to the cemetery but it was worth it. I was a solo traveler and this was the best use of my time. There was also a trolley and other things to do, but to me, this was perfect to do on my own. Great Tour!! Thank you!
Enjoyed it, informs you on the highlights of the deadwood history in a very nice way. Can recommend to do this, certainly when you have limited knowledge of this part of the US
It was interesting, informative and intriguing… Nice tour !! I would recommend it if you have some time … All on your personal phone !!!
I couldn’t get it to download on my I phone. I don’t Know What Else To write Since I Never Got To Use It
This is a very informative tour and we learned a great deal about the history of Deadwood and its early inhabitants. It’s well-narrated and engrossing, with great information. Greg, the tour owner, is extremely responsive to questions via text. Once we figured out the WalkNTours app it was easy to use. Highly recommend the tour. There are some references to brothel activity and some violent killings of the day, so parents should be aware. Some previous commenters have dinged the tour as being difficult to hear. Deadwood is extremely loud with loads of noisy motorcycles and other vehicles. Don’t attempt to do this tour unless you have earbuds!!
I couldn’t get the trip to down load to hear it on my apple phone so my husband tried to share pods and that didn’t work either. So we quit and left.
The town was nice. Had some great picture opportunities. Sound tour didn’t work until we were ready to leave.
This was a great, inexpensive way to learn about Deadwood at your own pace and on your own schedule. I learned so much about the town on this walking tour!
We had no idea that we had arrived on a Deadwood nights and car show event. (Pretty funny actually) It was packed and it was difficult to maneuver and hear the tour. But, we did make the best of it and it was helpful. I definitely back up previous suggestions to use ear buds.
Nobody was there to meet us... to send us off. No one personally made it a point to greet us and give us a review of how this worked. Ended up leaving and not taking the tour at all. Should have booked a trolley tour. They had a guide.
The history was interesting, but it is a noisy place (bricks for road). That made listening to the walking tour hard to do at times. We enjoyed the museum as it was very informative of the history of Deadwood.
This self guided tour was well done and provided a great introduction into Deadwood, it’s history and colorful past. The tour was easy to navigate, and I was able to play it on my iPhone, and share the audio via AirPlay with my wife while we did the tour. Highly recommended - a great value for the money.
Lots of good info provided during the tour. Was a good way to experience Deadwood at my own pace… The app is easy to use, though they do recommend using earbuds… Good advice as a Deadwood can be quite loud during the day with lots of tourists, cars and motorcycles driving through town. This tour involves a walk to the cemetery… It was a very hot day when I went and I wasn’t going to walk the steep hill. The app does have a feature where you can take a tour virtually, and then drive up to the cemetery later at your leisure.
Not good at all!!! Could NOT use it!!! Had to download Viator and before being able to do anything, had to use WhatsApp, then was told to call a number, then the person sent me a text to download another app, WalknTours, then, register and follow instructions on the app, download it!!! Well, it was downloading and downloading, and downloading!!! After 1-1/2 hours, it was still telling me it was downloading! Well, we walked, visited different places, spent a few hours there, returned home, and the app stopped!!! Never was able to download anything!!! After paying twice, once for two people and another for one…. I have two apps, which didn’t work and don’t need!!!!!!! Needless to say, I’m deleting and NOT using ever again!
Great walking tour with lots of fun details. We enjoyed taking the tour at our own pace and stopped for a drink at Saloon 10 and then upstairs for lunch at Deadwood Social Club. Also got to catch the 4:00 gunslinger show in the street just outside Saloon 10. Heed the warning of hilly path to cemetary to see Wild Bill gravesite.
its ok stop. mostly casinos and t-shirt shops. saw tons of kids but not really a kids place. had to search for a restaurant that WASNT a bar of casino
This walking tour was perfect for our time in Deadwood! Being able to use our cell phone to walk the streets, as well as pause to go inside and experience the site, was perfect!
