Walking Tour In Beaufort

Janet was so friendly and knowledgeable about Beaufort. You can tell she really loves her job and the town. Beaufort is a beautiful town with a lot of history. The only downside was the end of the tour was not where you started. Yes, that gave us time to grab a bite to eat, but without GPS on my phone, we would've gotten lost getting back to our car at the start of the tour to catch our next tour. This is our first time in Beaufort and loved it.

We had an excellent experience with Janet she made an exception to take us on an afternoon tour. She knew her facts and dates and was so easy to follow. The visit to her church and cemetery was certainly one of the highlights and learning the history of that district was another. I certainly highly recommend this activity when visiting Beaufort. When you book this tour ask if Janet will be giving you tour. If not don’t take it !!!!! Our Charleston based tour planner and staff at our Beaufort B and B raved about Janet's tour and how she brings the city of Beaufort and its magnificent homes and history to life. Unfortunately her delegate who gave us our tour on June 5 was UNACCEPTABLE. I believer we would have enjoyed our two hours more just walking around on our own. We learned more of Beaufort’s history, houses and residents on our Dolphins Adventures Tour than we did with this replacement guide. There were only 4 of us on the tour and the guide spent the entire time talking with two phd child psychology students, a couple, trying to impress them with his knowledge of their field of study. He spent more time on this than talking about Beaufort. We traditionally love walking tours as it allows for engagement with the guide etc. We were ignored like we were not even on the tour zero engagement the exact opposite of every other one of our tours on our two week trip. . A church was unlocked for us to walk in. Unfortunately a number of others sauntered in the open door and we had to wait a good 15 minutes while the others moseyed around the interior used the bathroom (queued) etc. as our guide had to wait until they left. Because he had to lock up.

Janet was truly amazing! So incredibly knowledgeable and has behind the scenes access as a long time local of the area. She was super accommodating when the weather wasn’t cooperating and also when we had an unforeseen delay. I cannot recommend her enough!

A nice overview of Beaufort history including people and events. Included entry into 2-3 historic buildings. Walking is fairly easy.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this entertaining & informative tour. Wynn was our guide and he did an excellent job. He is an absolute fountain of historic facts and interesting details. Although we've visited Beaufort several times, this was our first formal tour. Wynn took us to some stunningly beautiful spots that felt very much off the beaten track but were just tucked away in Beaufort's charming historic district. Wynn is also a very considerate guide and made sure to offer several restroom stops along the way, which many in the group appreciated.

Good tour guide. Knowledgeable but I thought he left some interesting facts out. Ie St Helene’s cemetery Revolutionary war graves. How both sides buried in same cemetery. And other information.

This was a wonderful, informative and casual tour of historical Beaufort. Wynn was fabulous with his fund of knowledge of the historical sites and well as the surrounding context of the history of the day contributing to the events in Beaufort. The walk is easy and the 2 1/2 hours went by quickly. We could recommend this to anyone looking for a guided tour of Beaufort.

Excellent tour with a wide range of places and topics covered in a relatively small area of Beaufort. Tour is very easy to manage walking-wise. Janet is very knowledgeable and extremely enthusiastic about this beautiful and historic town. She connected really well with our family group from Scotland and effortlessly pulled us into her themes, which were all illuminating. Highly recommended !
