This is my third time coming to the ship and I wish I would’ve taken the tour first so that I could come back the other two times and really take everything in that I was taught while on my tour. Now, knowing this much about this ship, I have a lot of respect for everybody that takes care of it. What an incredible way to honor the people that fought and died for this country!

Our tour guide,Tad was excellent. We loved his knowledge of the ship and love for the paranormal. He absolutely made the tour! BTW his idea for a haunted house on the ship is killer. It would sell out every night!
More than we could have imagined, Our guide Jim Pollard was engaging, a bit humorous and a Navy pilot himself which gave us insight about what the men aboard this ship experienced first hand. Women were not aboard at this time. Truly an emotional eye opener, as always beyond grateful for all our military and our freedom.
This 90 minute tour was worth every bit of the cost of $45 pp. Alben was a fantastic storyteller who truly brought the ghosts of the Yorktown to life, with his tale of Smokey Stover being the absolute highlight of the tour. Our other four guests also shared high praise, noting his contagious enthusiasm for the Navy, the ship, and its history. Well done, Alben!"
Amazing tour! Our guide was extremely informative and very helpful! It really had the ability to put yourself in those shoes.
Exceptional experience and guides. Very knowledgeable about the vessels past present and future. Enthusiastic and engaging. The ghost tour was amazing. Our daughters captured some great photos and we experienced a phantom bell, medical beeping, shadow play and in some of the photos it’s either over pixelated, poor exposure or even blacked out. We can’t wait to experience the investigation tour next. Thanks bulldog tours.
Exploring the USS Yorktown at night in a small group was a memorable experience. Our guide, Alben, was personable and knowledgeable, and never made us feel rushed. My 13 year old son loves military history and aircraft. This was the perfect tour to align with his interests. If in Charleston again, will consider going back during regular hours to visit the Medal of Honor Museum and other attractions that were closed during our tour.
Guide was excellent. Ghost Tour of USS Yorktown highly recommended.
Fantastic paranormal ghost tour plus we got to see unique parts of the ship as a bonus! Highly recommended experience.
Dustin did a wonderful job guiding us through the USS Yorktown during the after hours tour! He was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and you could truly tell how passionate he is about his job. He made the experience even more memorable. Highly recommend this tour!
Tad was amazing. Very informative and enthusiastic. Everyone in the group felt the same.
It was nice to see the ship with a small group and it not be crowded. Our guide told interesting stories and we were able to go to restricted areas of the ship.
Cool experience -Tad was a great host! Like a grandpa who tells scary ghost stories! Very knowledgeable about the ship and her moods.
Great adventure on the ship! Really enjoy every second! A lot of history and fantastic tales! Our tour Guide Dave was amazing!
I was hoping the tour would give a little bit more history about the boat. And when they say this tour includes areas of the boat that the public don’t normally see I think that is stretching it a little.
Dave from Bulldog tours….amazing historian. Hands down the best tour I’ve ever experienced. His knowledge of the Yorktown and its crew was heartfelt and sincere. The stories were amazing, but the sincerity to which he told it and the respect given was top notch.
This was a very informative and interesting tour. Our guide Albin was knowledgeable and did a great job. The after hours access at night was nice for more comfortable temps and no crowds. We were party of 4 ranging from 16-76 and all enjoyed it!
This was a super cool experience! We had previously done the self-guided tour of the USS Yorktown and loved every minute of it, but thought it would be neat to see everything at night and have access to what we hadn’t seen! Dustin was our tour guide and we could not have asked for a better guide. He truly knows this carrier inside and out, and you can tell how passionate he is about its history. He was very personable and engaged with everyone in the tour group. He shared historical facts as well as stories about hauntings on the ship. Would definitely recommend this tour if you’ve already toured the ship during regular hours. We will definitely be back!
My experience wasn't good, considering the tour company cancelled the tour at the last minute. Was scheduled for the 9:00 p.m., and received a call at 6:09 p.m. to tell me the tour was cancelled because not enough people had booked it. The tour company did offer to allow me to attend the 7:30 tour, but to make that, not only would I have had to run home to get my car and rush to the meeting point, but I would also have missed my dinner reservation. So, when booking you should be aware that you may not receive sufficient notice of a cancellation to make alternative plans. It would've been really nice if the tour company had reached out earlier, since information asymmetry was in play (presumably the tour company was aware before 6:09 p.m. the day of that only 2 people had booked the tour).
It was not really a ghost tour. No scary stories. We had to ask a few times what paranormal activity has been common around the ship to get something out of the tour guide. It was a good history tour and a beautiful view from the deck but definitely not a ghost tour.
Enjoyed this tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The ghost tour wasn’t very ghostly but still enjoyable.
Great tour! Very informative about the history of the USS Yorktown and enjoyed the ghost stories. Will definitely need to come back again
Experience and the guide were exceptional. Amazing views from the flight deck at night. It’s no joke it is hot in the summer but worth it!
We had an amazing experience on the nighttime ghost tour of the USS Yorktown! Our guide was fantastic and made the entire tour both interesting and enjoyable. He took us to areas where paranormal activity has been reported and shared fascinating historical facts that brought the stories to life. His knowledge and passion for the ship’s history, as well as the paranormal experiences associated with it, really made the tour special. You could tell he genuinely loved sharing the information and energy of the ship with us. This was such a memorable experience, and we highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Charleston!
This was a fun tour! I really enjoyed being able to check out the Yorktown and hear about the spooky stories at the same time. Who isn’t looking for a possible otherworldly experience? Tad did a great job.
Very informative tour, just not long enough! 90 minutes isn't enough time to really explore the ship and read all the history. Tour guide Dave was excellent and passionate about his job!
Was fun and informative. Great chance to be on a ship. Glad we went in the evening. Would be very hot during the day.
Very informative history and tour of retired carrier. Learned a lot and had a great time. Guide was extremely knowledgeable!
We had a wonderful time on this tour. Dustin was our tour guide and he was extremely knowledgeable about the ship and very engaging with our group. It was really cool to tour the ship at night. We loved everything about it. The history, ghost stories and especially getting to go up on the flight deck. Highly recommend this tour!
Our guide was outstanding & did his best to personalize the experience for individuals in our group. Though warned in advance, we underestimated the ladder climbing involved and sweltering August heat.
Lots of good history!! My tour guide, Jack Kelly, was extremely knowledgable about the history of the Yorktown and he was very animated in telling us about the ghost stories!
The tour was phenomenal. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and funny! Very interactive and some cool spooky experiences! I even got a picture and it looks like someone is there! 10/10!
Thad (or Tad?) was a fantastic tour guide! He was a wealth of knowledge, funny, and kept the group engaged. My husband and I had a great time.
It was great to experience a ship like this. It was more historical than scary. Although my kids did get spooked at one point. Either way the guide was very knowledgeable and we had a good time.
This was great after hours tour. We have plenty of time to drop our conference bags, grab a snack, and Uber to the Yorktown without rushing. The guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging. The ghosts did not make an appearance, but we did see the proof. And it was a lot of fun to be the only ones onboard.
That's it's not climate controlled and there are a lot of steps through the doorways to be mindful of. We had a great experience. Jack was our guide and he was great. Very informative and a great storyteller. Answered all the questions that anyone asked him. We really enjoyed all of this experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed touring and learning about the USS Yorktown and her crew.. Climbing up to the flight deck where we saw the planes on top and the nighttime views of Charleston was a memorable experience! Our guide, Alben, was personable, informative, and clearly loves his job! Highly recommend.
Amazing tour!! It was incredible to see all the planes and hear all the details !!
Overall the experience was good. It was an awesome way to see some of the ship and learn about some of its really cool history. The “ghost” portion didn’t disappoint either. Our tour guide was cool, he told us plenty of stories and shares some awesome pictures and interaction stories that other guests had experienced. He warned the group as well that the ladies were usually the ones who had the interactions, as the ghosts were all male sailors. My wife got touched twice during the tour. Once by the bunk of the first casualty on board and the second time was by the burn unit area. Overall excellent experience and would do it again.
Tate did a great job with his story telling of the ship and history of it. He really has an excitement for sharing what he knows and talks about it with enthusiasm. It was fun. He did a great job!!
Truly a great tour with a ton of history and the guide had an incredible personality fit for the occasion. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in Naval Vessels, WWII history, and wants to know more about South Carolina’s influence in the war.
Great storytelling by our guide. Beautiful sunset time of day for the tour. Wonderful exhibits. Recommend highly.
While I wasn’t personally scared or anything, it was a very interesting tour and the sights were very nice and the guide was very nice.
This was a really great experience for my family. We have never been part of a night boat tour and it was as interesting as the ratings stated. Our guide was knowledgeable and handled the crowd well. I am really glad we did this tour.
The tour was excellent and I loved hearing about the historical facts as I am a huge history nerd. Its not a ghost tour though. The guide just mentions weird circumstantial facts and expects you to assume the ship is haunted. Its also very very hot on that ship especially in July. Will say I was very disappointed at how much we paid for tickets and parking was not included.
Great Tour! Dustin was the perfect guide for this tour, he is very knowledgeable about the Yorktown. The hour and a half flew by, plus being after hours and no crowds was an added bonus, wish we had more time. The next time I'm close to Charleston I will probalbly take the tour again. I only wish that the Ship Store would have been open, no chance for souvenirs
Best haunted tour I've done. The guide was amazing, the ship was incredible and fascinating. Would definitely do again.
It is beyond hot in the summer. Take a fan!!! You will be climbing narrow stairs so be ready! Do the 7:00 pm tour! It’s the best!
This tour was well worth the money. We went with Grandma, mom dad a nine-year-old and 12 year-old. All enjoyed the trip. The guidemade it very enjoyable for everyone and tailored his delivery based on our interests. If you want to avoid the crowds and go in a smallgroup in the evening when it’s not stifling hot, this is the way to go!
Great experience! The ship is massive and touring it at night was pretty awesome! Our tour guide was really knowledgeable about the ship and hauntings within it.
